Chapter 2

Outside their window lurked a dark figure. Watching. Waiting. Preparing for the right time to make his move. He was going to get what was his. One way or another. He snorted and jumped down from the balcony that extended from Ryo's sliding doors and ran off.

Sage turned his head at the exact time the man jumped down. He looked back at Ryo then the door again. He could have sworn he saw something. He untangled himself from Ryo and pulled on his robe and walked out on the balcony and looked around. Nothing. Maybe he was just being paranoid?

"Seiji?" Sage turned around and made sure to lock the doors and slipped back in bed with Ryo.

"Ryo." Sage placed a cool hand on Ryo's warm cheek and felt something wet. "Ryo? Are you up yet?" he started to rub his cheek.

"Mmm... Seiji, don't go. Please?! I need you!"

"Ryo! I'm right here! Please wake up!" Sage started to shake Ryo, "Ryo!!"

*Dream*

(He doesn't want you. Never did, Never will.) A sinister voice said.

'Yes, he does! Sage loves me!'

(He doesn't love you! He just loves your boy pussy! Just like everyone else!) it hissed.

'No! Sage loves me!'

(The same way Jeff loved you?) Ryo stilled at the mentioning of his ex-boyfriend's name. (And what of the men before Jeff, hmm? Did they love you, too?)

'No, they didn't love me. Jeff was crazy over me, though.'

(And what happened when you tried to break it off with him because he fucked that girl?)

'He tried to beat me and said I was his to do whatever...'

(Then what makes you think your precious Sage won't be the same way?) the voice spat.

'Sage is different from them! He wouldn't hurt me purposely!'

(You said the same thing about Jeff.) The voice now sounded faint as if it was being drifted away on an invisible wind. Ryo said nothing as the tears slid down his face. (How sure are you now?) it whispered before disappearing completely. Ryo continued to weep softly as the darkness took over.

*End Dream*

Ryo shot up and looked around the room. "Sage?!"

"Right here, baby." Sage pulled Ryo into a tight hug and kissed his hair. He started to rock him and rub his back soothingly. "Shh... it's Ok, baby, it's Ok."

Ryo's sobs soon calmed down to small sniffles. "It's Ok." Ryo sighed contentedly and fell asleep. Sage noticed that Ryo's breathing had evened out. He laid back down, making sure to keep Ryo in his arms. He looked at the clock. 8:00. Dinner would be ready in a minute. He looked back at Ryo.

'I'll just bring him something up.' Sage got up and again walked out on the balcony and whistled. He saw something white come bounding out of the woods.

He walked back inside, locked the door and, quickly putting on his clothes, he walked downstairs towards the front door. Whiteblaze was waiting for him outside. He leaned down towards the creature, "Can you lay with Ryo while Cye finishes cooking dinner for me? I'll be up in a bit." Whiteblaze growled his response and went upstairs. Sage saw their door close slowly and then he heard a click. Sage walked into the kitchen, where Cye was finishing up dinner, and got himself a glass of wine.

"Hey, Cye?"

"Yes?"

"Ryo won't be coming down for dinner tonight but I'll bring him something up to eat later."

"All right. As long you make sure he eats something."

"I will. You can count on it."

Whiteblaze padded softly across the floor and jumped onto the bed and laid his large head between Ryo's arms. He felt Ryo move closer to his body and he smelled something salty and looked at Ryo. Whiteblaze licked away the tears that flowed down his face. Ryo whimpered softly and hugged Whiteblaze tighter. The tears came again. Whiteblaze whined and nuzzled his face. Ryo gasped and woke up again.

"Sage?" 'Sage left me... he doesn't love me anymore...'

Whiteblaze nudged Ryo in the side and he numbly scratched him behind his ears. 'Maybe he didn't leave me like the others...'

"Blaze, where is Sage?" Whiteblaze pushed Ryo out of the bed and jumped down and walked out the door. Ryo looked confused for a minute then pulled on his clothes and walked after Whiteblaze. He found Whiteblaze walking into the kitchen. He followed and his spirits lifted when he saw Sage. "Sage!"

Sage looked up as a black blur ran towards him and hugged him tightly. "Ryo... Can't... Breath!"

"Sorry." he said sheepishly.

"Looks like someone is a little happy to see you Sage." Kento said as he entered the kitchen with Rowen in tow.

"I see." Ryo looked as happy as a kid with a brand new puppy. "Is there a special reason as to why I deserved that hug?"
Ryo thought for a moment, "Because... I love you is all." he said softly. His head was hung so no one could see his blush. He heard movement and felt himself being pulled into a tight hug. "Sage?"

"You deserve a hug too, Ryo," He let him go and kissed his nose, "Because I love you just as much."

"Ok, enough of this lovey dovey stuff! There's enough mush here to make me gag!"

"Oh, shut up Rowen!"

"Puh-lease!" laughed Rowen, "I'm just kidding ya! It's good someone has opened up that cold heart of yours."

Sage looked over at Ryo as he blushed again. 'He blushes more than a girl. But he looks better doing it.' Sage thought dreamily. He hadn't heard Ryo call his name. He only noticed when he couldn't breath and broke out of his trance. The hand moved away and he saw Ryo's smiling face.

"See, had that been one of us we'd dead and six feet under right now." Rowen smirked. Sage turned his head and glared at Rowen who held up his hands in defense.

"Please don't kill me Sage! I'm so sorry!"

Sage smirked, "You're forgiven."
Rowen smirked also, "I thought so."

"What did you say?"

"Nothing!"

"Thought so."
"Humph!"

"You two play around like you're brothers or something. It's really funny to watch you two go at it when it's just some silly argument." Kento laughed.

"Look who's talking! You argue with Rowen all the time!"

"I do not!"

"Yes you do!"

"Do not!"

"Do too!"

"Ok, lets not start any of that. Lets just eat." Cye laughed.

"FINE!" Kento and Sage looked at each other, glared, then turned their heads.

Rowen laughed, "Ya know Sage, before Ryo I didn't think you had a playful side." Sage looked at him.

"That's because I don't."
"You do and Ryo brings it out of you. You definitely have been around his silly ass for too long."

"I'm not silly!"

"Like hell ya aren't!"

"I'm not.." he pouted and sniffed and gave Rowen the cutest puppy dog eyes he's ever seen.

"Naw'll you're just too damn cute for your own good." Ryo smiled and cutely stuck out his tongue at Rowen. He smirked, "I wonder how well you work that tongue why you sticking it out. Ya know my mind stay in the gutter." Ryo pulled his tongue back and blushed. "Ya too easy to embarrass, Ryo, didja know dat?"

"No..."

"Well, you are." Sage said and Ryo frowned, "That's what I love about you. Your constant blush.." Ryo smiled again, "...and your smile."

"Yeah! Now lets eat!" shouted Kento as he reached for the food. Everyone smiled and dug in.

He watched from afar with binoculars through the kitchen windows. 'I will have that little pussy, if it's the last thing I do!' He looked at Sage, 'And if blondie gets in the way I'll just kill him.'

Sage looked out the window. 'Something's out there. I know it!' Sage got up and looked out the window harder. 'Nothing again! Maybe I'm just being paranoid...'

Ryo looked at Sage as he sat down again.

"Is there something wrong? Sage?" Ryo placed his hand on Sage's. Sage tensed and yanked his hand away. Upon seeing Ryo, he immediately relaxed.

"No, nothing's wrong." 'Then why do I have this nagging feeling that someone is watching us?'

"If you say so." Ryo continued eating his food but watched Sage out of the corner of his eye. 'I'm going to find out what's bugging him. Tonight.'

After dinner, Ryo and Sage were back in Ryo's room sitting on the bed. There was so much tension there you could cut it with a knife. This is when Ryo decide to speak, "Sage, what's really wrong?"

Sage looked at Ryo, "Do you ever get the feeling someone's watch you?"

"Sometimes." he admitted.

"I just keep getting this felling that someone's watching our every move. I don't know. It just creeps me out. Maybe I'm being paranoid." There was something else that he wanted know that was bugging him. "Ryo what was your ex-boyfriend like?" he asked hesitantly. Ryo never talked about him or any other boyfriends he's had. Ryo's whole body tensed. Sage saw this and quickly added, "You don't have to talk about it if you don't want to Ryo."

"No, no it's Ok. I need to talk about it." Sage started to rub his leg.

"When ever you're ready, baby."

"Ok, his name is Jeff. I'd been with him for one and a half years, ....this day would be our anniversary if I was still with him."

"Then why did you break up with him?"

"I'm getting to that. He was the first boyfriend I had that stayed with me for more than a week."

Sage cringed, 'You poor thing. A week.'

"Jeff was always there for me, he cared for me, he basically spoiled me. After the first week, I was afraid he was going to leave me but I left him instead or tried to anyway."

"Why?"

"One night he had went to a club after we had a fight; that was the day before I said it was over. He picked up some girl and took her with him and he..." tears started to roll down Ryo's cheek and he closed his eyes. He felt something wipe away his tears and he opened his eyes to see Sage.

"You don't have to say it Ryo. I know."

"Ok, the next morning I found him with her. I was so shocked that I just stood there for awhile not comprehending what I was seeing. That's when he woke up. He saw me and ran to me, trying to tell me he didn't mean it and he was drunk and all that bull. I pushed him away and slapped him and said I was leaving him. Then he got angry and started cursing, waking up the girl and she just watched as he started hitting me. But I had left the bedroom door open and ran from him, he chased me and threw things at me. The girl had called the cops and he turned on her. I had tried to stop him but he had threw a lamp at my head and I was knocked out. The police and the paramedics had arrived and I guess he got away. He killed that girl and that's what happened the day you guys found me in the hospital."

'I never knew. His life was in danger, and I didn't even know!'

"It's not your fault you didn't know, Sage. I didn't tell anyone about him but the police and now you."

"Hmmm.... You seem to still be in love with him Ryo, even after what happened."

Ryo shook his head quickly, "No! I love you Sage!" he said fiercely.

"Maybe you need closure. I mean, you didn't even see him leave."

"Maybe... I don't care. He broke my heart and I don't want anything else to do with him! He can rot in hell for all I care!"

"Ok, if you say so." 'As long as he didn't try anything funny.' "Let's just go to sleep."

"Ok." Ryo stood up and took off all his clothes and got back in bed as did Sage. Since they were now lovers they didn't mind sleeping in the nude with each other. They didn't have to worry about getting cold. Ryo provided all the heat they needed.

They fell asleep not knowing the angry eyes that watched them from the tree that sat outside Ryo's window. 'I will have what's mine!'
