Chapter Seven: Sage Of Halo
By: Demon Priestess Saturn

Rowen yawned as he walked down the stairs from the second floor. He stretched sleepily and headed in the direction of the kitchen. It was way too early for him to be prowling; of course anyone who was up at five in the morning, willingly, was a little strange. He walked into the quiet kitchen to get a glass of milk. It had been two days since Cye and Kento came and they had a small party in honor of Cye's birthday. Rowen however didn't have that much fun for his mind was restless. He was too concerned about his best friend to get distracted by trivial things. Recent events were disturbing his peaceful mind and nightmares were slipping into his imagination, making it harder to have a good nights sleep. This was probably the reason he was up prowling this morning, or was it that strange nagging feeling he had been having at the back of his mind? He felt like something was going to happen soon, maybe even today. Rowen jumped slightly as he heard and little yelp from the bathroom. Rowen rested his hand on his chest and calmed down for a moment. Sighing he headed over to the bathroom and noticed the light on. He walked over to the door and could see Kento standing there with his shirt off. He hand his back to him and was looking down at a nasty cut in his side. Rowen's mouth opened slightly as he realized Kento had a lot of these deep gashes and each one had stitches and was neatly bandaged.

“Damn it.” Kento muttered as he looked up and jumped as he saw Rowen in the mirror. “Jesus… Don't scare me like that.” Kento turned around and looked at him.
“What happened?” Rowen looked extremely worried.
“Well… Um.” Kento fumbled around for the words. A glint caught Rowen's eye he glanced over to the counter and could see a small orange orb with the symbol of justice in it on the counter top.
“When did you get that?” Rowen said as he looked at the orb. Kento sighed heavily and looked at the ground.
“I got it before I went to Cye's house.” Kento said calmly.
“But you said.” Rowen raised a brow.
“I know what I said, and I lied. I knew something was going on before I went to Cye's house. I was up at my grandfather's shrine and I found it. That's when I called Cye and asked to see him. I wanted to know if the rest of us had found our armors. Well the day before I went to Cye's house Dais attacked me and almost killed me. I thought it was strange and I asked him what he thought he was doing and all he said is that we all needed to die. Like we were never friends. That's why I believed you when you said you had been attacked because I was too.”
“Why didn't you tell Cye and Ryo?” Rowen asked.
“Cos I didn't want to bother them with the information. But apparently they were going to get it anyways. So all I've been doing is keeping it to myself.”
“Kento you should have said something.”
“Yeah and they probably would have called me crazy like they thought you were.” Kento continued to look at the floor.
“Yeah your probably right.” Rowen sighed.
“You want to hear something strange.” Kento looked up.
“What's that?”
“Some guy with a green motorcycle saved me.”
“You're kidding.” Rowen almost fell over. “I was saved by the same guy. He said he knew what was going on and I didn't have to explain away anything.”
“That's exactly what he told me. He wouldn't give me his name though.” Kento stared back at Rowen in shock.
“He wouldn't tell me that either.”
“Okay… This is just tripy.” Kento shook his head. For a moment him and Rowen said nothing and then Kento looked back at him wound. “I guess I better finish cleaning this.”
“I'll help.” Rowen walked over and started to help clean out the wound with the alcohol.
“Thanks Ro… Hey I'm sorry I didn't tell you.” Kento glanced at him.
“It's okay but when Ryo and Cye get up I think we should have a meeting.” Rowen commented.
“Yeah that would be a good idea.” Kento agreed.
“Yeah this was defiantly caused by Dais' weapon.” Rowen shook his head as he finished cleaning the wound and bandaged it.
“By the way. What are you doing up this early?” Kento pulled his shirt on and looked at him.
“I have this strange feeling like something is going to happen.” Rowen said without putting to much thought into it.
“Oh no. Every time you say that it always comes true.” Kento sighed.
“Yeah but there's a chance it wont be a bad thing. Come on you want to get something to eat before we go back to bed?”
“Sure!”

………………….

The next morning Kento and Rowen sat at the dining room table chatting amongst each other. Cye was walking in and out of the conversation getting breakfast ready just as Ryo was coming down the stairs. Ryo looked over at Kento and Rowen and smiled. He walked over to the table and looked at both of them.

“What's up?” Ryo asked in a bit of a good mood.
“Morning.” Kento smiled.
“We need to talk. All four of us need to talk.” Rowen said. A frown came to Ryo's face as he pulled back one of the chairs and sat down.
“Cye!” Kento yelled over his shoulder.
“Yeah.” Cye walked in and looked around.
“So what's going on?” Ryo asked calmly.
“Well… Kento I think you should go first.” Rowen glanced at Kento who nodded solemnly.
“Cye you better sit down.” Kento said. “I have something I need to tell you and Ryo and I can provide prove to back up my story. So… Here it goes.”

………………….

“White Blaze!” Yuli yelled as he stood on the porch. “Where is that cat?” Yuki looked annoyed as he stepped off the porch and started looking around. “White Blaze!” In the distance Yuli could hear a motorcycle. Which wasn't uncommon out here. People usually drove around the mountains here for a joy ride. “White Blaze!” Yuli yelled out again but still saw no sigh of the cat. Yuli sighed and turned to walk back in the house when he realized the sound of the motorcycle was getting louder. He turned around slowly and looked at the driveway. Around the corner came a green sports bike with a person wearing a green helmet and a leather jacket on the back. Yuli cocked his head to the side curiously as the person parked his bike next to Rowen's car. They turned off the engine and waved over at Yuli. Yuli jumped down off the porch and ran over to the person. “Can I help you?” He asked briskly as the person pulled off the helmet. Yuli gasped as he noticed a boy with short wild blonde hair that covered one eye sitting on the bike in front of him.

“Hey Yuli. How you doing? Is your training coming along well?” The boy smiled softly and stared back with calm lavender eyes.
“Sage?” Yuli smiled.
“Yeah what's up?” Sage got off the bike. Yuli ran over and gave him a big hug.
“Everyone thought you were dead.” Yuli looked up at him.
“Yeah I figured as much.” Sage frowned.
“Why haven't you talked with us for two years?” Yuli asked with a worried look coming on his face.
“Well…” Sage stared back at the thirteen-year-old boy that was now almost his height and sighed. “Let's just say I don't want to talk about it. Is Rowen here?”
“Yeah and so is Kento and Cye.” Yuli said. “Do you want me to go get them?”
“How about you just get Rowen for me. He's the one I really need to talk to.” Sage said calmly.
“Okay. I'll be right back.” Yuli ran to the front door and opened it. “Rowen! Come here quick!”
“I'll be there in a minute Yuli!” Rowen shouted back and continued to listen to the conversation Ryo and Kento were now having.
“No you need to come now! It's important!” Yuli yelled.
“I'll be right back.” Rowen sighed in annoyance. “What is it Yuli?” Rowen said as he came to the door. Yuli pointed to Sage in the driveway as Rowen stepped slowly out onto the porch. Sage gave a sight wave and frowned a little. “Oh my god.” Rowen felt a sweep of relief come over him as he ran off the porch and over to Sage. “Sage?” Rowen smiled slightly.
“Hey.” Sage smiled back.
“You're okay.” Rowen hugged him tightly.
“Yeah I'm fine.” Sage said as he pulled away. Rowen frowned as he stared him in the eyes.
“What happened to you?” Rowen asked.
“Rowen… I'm sorry I haven't been there for the past two years. Things have just been a little crazy in my life. I didn't mean to ignore you guys and I certainly didn't expect Cale to tell you I was dead.” Sage looked at him.
“Wait a sec.” Rowen glanced at the sports bike and the green helmet. His eyes then landed on the leather jacket Sage was wearing with a white shirt underneath.
“What?” Sage looked at him with a confused expression on his face.
“You saved me and Kento you snake.” Rowen smiled.
“Oh.” Sage smiled back. “Yeah that was me. I rather enjoyed hitting Cale with my bike.”
“You haven't changed one bit.” Rowen almost laughed. “So what's going on?”
“Well that's what I'm here to tell you guys.” Sage said calmly.
“Good then you can tell Ryo how much of a jackass he's being.”
“Sage.” A soft voice came from behind him. Sage turned to see Mia standing a few feet away with White Blaze.
“Hey Mia.” Sage said while White Blaze stalked towards him. Sage eyed the cat as it began to growl. White Blaze leapt at him. “Rowen move!” Sage said as he dodged out of the way letting White Blaze land on the ground next to him. “See I out smarted you this time.” Sage patted the big white tiger on the back, who in turn purred softly and licked his hand. Mia walked up and gave him a hug.
“We missed you. Where have you been?” Mia asked with a smile.
“It's a very long story.” Sage replied calmly.
“Rowen are you coming back…” Cye stopped in the doorway and his eyes went wide.
“Hey Cye.” Sage smiled.
“Sage!” Cye jumped off the porch and ran over there. He gave his blonde friend and hug. “I knew you would show up soon.”
“Yeah I'm good at just popping up aren't I?” Sage looked back at Rowen who was staring at him strangely.
“Did you want something to drink?” Mia asked. “I can go get Kento and Ryo.”
“Is something wrong?” Rowen asked suddenly. Sage stared at him with the frown that only meant trouble was around.
“Kind of.” Sage said calmly. “Maybe we should all head in so I can explain in better detail what's going on.”
“Okay.” Rowen still looked worried but turned and walked into the house along with Sage, Cye, Mia, and Yuli. Rowen walked back into the dining area with Cye and Ryo looked annoyed.
“What's going on?” Ryo asked.
“Yeah why did you two disappear on us?” Kento asked just as Mia and Yuli took a seat at the table.
“They disappeared because I distracted them.” Ryo and Kento fixed their attention on a very familiar voice. Ryo stood up slowly and stared in shock.
“Oh my god.” Kento stared up at Sage with his mouth slightly open.
“Sage.” Ryo stared back at him.
“I know. You guys are probably all pissed off at me. And quiet frankly I deserve it.” Sage looked down at the floor.
“Rowen. This must have been the feeling you got.” Kento smiled at Rowen.
“Yeah.” Rowen said calmly.
“Man I don't care if you disappeared I am just glad that your alive.” Kento stood up and hugged him.
“Kento… We need to talk.” Sage looked at him.
“Yeah I'll say we do. Cale attacked Rowen and Dais…”
“Attacked you. Yeah I was there for both of them.” Sage finished what Kento was saying.
“You were?” Kento looked shocked.
“Yeah I was the guy on the bike.” Sage rolled his eyes a little. Kento looked dumbfounded for a minute and then sat back down. Sage fixed his attention back at Ryo, who was still staring at him. “Look if your going to hit me get it over with will ya.”
“Ryo?” Rowen looked at him.
“You know what's going on don't you.” Ryo asked suddenly.
“Yeah I do.” Sage nodded. “I probably should have come sooner but I thought I could handle this problem by myself. I owe all of you an apology.”
“So what's going on?” Cye asked calmly. Rowen continued to eye Ryo; he wasn't sure what he was thinking or what he would do. So far he seemed to be in utter shock. Then suddenly Ryo laughed. Sage blinked as he looked back at Ryo.
“Damn you.” Ryo shook his head and smiled. “You scared the living daylights out of me. Why the hell did you disappear on us? I was starting to believe what Rowen said was true.”
“That's an entirely different subject I'm not going it.” Sage smiled.
“You jackass.” Ryo smirked and gave him a hug.
“Okay at least now I don't feel like your going to kill me.” Sage smiled almost in relief. Everyone else seemed to be glad the tension was gone.
“So what's with Cale and Dais?” Rowen asked as Ryo sat back down.
“Well… It's not just Cale and Dais. Sekhmet is also back and on the rampage.” Sage said calmly.
“Sekhmet's back?” Cye looked shattered. “Tell me your lying.”
“No. In fact he tried to hurt you the other day when you went diving with Ryuu.” Sage stared at Cye. Cye jumped up out of his chair.
“Oh my god.” Cye said.
“What?” Kento looked at him.
“Ryuu was hit by something. Remember that nasty wound on his arm. Sekhmet must have poisoned him instead of me. I need to call my sister.” Cye ran over to the phone and dialed the number.
“Oh shit that's right.” Kento said and stared at the table. “I hope Ryuu's going to be okay.”
“It's hard to say. It has been three days.” Sage said sadly.
“Shit. An innocent person.” Ryo kicked the table.
“Well they almost killed you and the poachers with that fire.” Sage shook his head.
“You mean that was their fault too?” Ryo looked at Sage.
“Yep.” Sage said calmly.
“Then what the fuck is going on? Why are they trying to kill us and who the hell is telling them to do this?” Ryo slammed his hands on the table as Cye hung up the phone.
“Well?” Kento asked.
“There was no answer.” Cye looked nerve wracked.
“Okay you want to know who's in charge and behind all this?” Sage asked.
“Yes.” Ryo snapped lightly.
“Are you all sure you're ready to hear this one?” Sage asked as he glanced at every one of them.
“Were ready when you're ready to tell us.” Ryo stared at him.
“Anubis.”

End Chapter Seven

If anyone is annoyed at how long it's taking me to get this story off the ground I know how you feel because I too expected to be well into the plotline by now. Well hopefully it wont take too much longer. Yeah didn't I say that last chapter? Yeah I did. Well I guess we'll just have to wait longer. So what does everyone think? Is it at least still interesting? I think I may have caught your attention by now. Especially with that last line. So read and review and I'm sure I'll get to work on something else or maybe the next chapter to this story.

P.S. Now if I can just think of a chapter title… Oh yeah! Talk about titles that give away the ending. Hehe…
