Shattered Dreams
Chapter Two: Troubled Minds
By: WingsofSakon
Taka got home late. Even though it was late he didn't see Miaka anywhere. So, he went to bed alone again. Again tossing and turning in her absence. At first he couldn't sleep. Thoughts of the day's events kept circling his mind. His mind wouldn't let him sleep. He kept yearning to pull her close. To feel the warmth of her closeness always made him feel complete. So, he imagined it and fell asleep holding a pillow tightly. In his dream, he saw her there as well. Sleeping soundly… he loved the way she looked when she was asleep. Her hair limp on the pillow and close to him. Then as he went to give her a kiss. She woke up to return it. Pulling him even closer with a gentle touch. Her sweet lips parting to accept him. He felt whole and didn't want the kiss to end. So, he tightened his embrace and let her know he loved her by deepening the kiss. He could feel a warm tear running down his cheek. She must have noticed, because she slowly pulled away. Although when he opened his eyes to look at her. He was looking striate into deep sea-emerald eyes. Brushing away his tears gently. The boy kissed him on the forehead. Making him snap awake from his dream. Taka sat up and ran his hand through his hair in disbelief. Noticing it was morning. He looked to the other side of the bed to see if she was there. He felt ripped when she wasn't. He sat there a while not knowing what to do. Staring at her spot he remembered the dream. Which really didn't help matters much. The next thing he knew he was on Tasuki's doorstep ringing the door bell.
Tasuki answered the door half-awake. "Hey Taka… "
"Where is she?" Taka asked trying to hold back his anger.
"What? Who?"
"Miaka… where is she. I seen her last with you." Taka confessed he seen them. Getting a shocked look in response.
"Ta… Taka, she's not here."
"I don't believe you. Miaka!" Taka yelled through the door.
"Really, she's not here, Taka. She left the school and I didn't see her after that. I thought she went home."
Taka glared at him a while then spoke. "Are you sure she didn't say any thing about where she was going?"
Tasuki thought a moment. "Some thing about stopping by a club first… to see Nuriko."
Taka gave him one last glare before walking away.
"Taka… about Miaka and me." Tasuki said before Taka got too far. Making him turn to look at him.
"What?" He snapped.
"… I never meant for it to happen. I'm sorry, Taka."

Miaka looked at Nuriko who was fixed on enjoying the drive. She couldn't believe he had the window wide open considering the early morning air was still damp. The wind was giving her goose bumps.
"Thank you, Nuriko." Miaka said in a small voice.
"Don't mention it. Besides… you and Taka are my friends. There's nothing I wouldn't do for you."
"You mean… you're not upset with me?"
"Upset, sure a little. I mean you two have been together for a long time now. After, every thing that's happened to be together. Now this… but you can't help who you love. So, I really don't mind."
"Why are you bringing me to your friend… ?" Miaka asked again.
"Well, I've never really been in this sort of situation. You seem to need to talk to some one. So, I'll bring you to some one who understands better than me. Don't worry Miaka. He's a nice person."
"Isn't it rather early for some thing like this?" Miaka asked getting nervous.
"Miaka… don't worry. He's up already, trust me." Nuriko assured turning up the radio.

He could hear Shin in the kitchen already. The aroma was what woke him up in the first place. Although, it had been a while since he woke up to it. He could remember it like yesterday. He had missed it while he was away. It was also a hard habit to break. Waking up to his cooking was some thing he had went to bed for.
"Morning, Seiji. I didn't think you'd be up already. Did I wake you?" Shin asked politely.
"Of course not. You know I get up early." Seiji half lied sitting down at the table.
"I think the paper is in." Shin said remembering Seiji usually read the morning paper before any thing else. "I'll get it." Shin said going out to get it for him.
When he came back in with it. He put it on the table and ran over to his cooking. Acting like it was more important than what needed to be let out. He couldn't believe Shin acted like nothing ever happened while he was away. Acting like there was never any thing between them.
"Shin." Seiji said to get his attention. Seeing him turn around he continued. "Shin, don't you have any thing to say to me? You're acting like nothing happened."
Shin turned off the stove and sat down at the other end of the table. "What do you want me to say? How do you want me to act, Seiji?" He asked in a gentle voice.
"Any thing. You been home a week now. You've said nothing to me."
"Neither have you. I can tell you this though. I don't know what's been happening since I left. Now ever since I got back I've been treated like the outcast. Is it just from me being gone? Or does it have to do with more than that? Why is every one treating me like this?" Shin said taking a drink of tea.
"You left us, Shin. Getting into a fight with Ryo over if then just leaving us. Wasn't right. Whatever reason they have for treating you like that. Isn't due to what happened between us."
"Hmm… " Shin said sighing as he got up to finish cooking.
"What?"
"I just wonder… that's all." Shin said lighting the stove and stirring the food in the pan.
"Wonder what?"
"Nothing. The foods ready." Shin said turning it back off and headed upstairs.
"Shin… " He said catching him before he was out of sight. "Please, say some thing."
"Seiji… there's nothing for me to say to you. I was away… and I wasn't worth holding on to." Shin said then went before Seiji could stop him again.
For once… Seiji came across words that could hurt him. The thoughts that circled his mind as Shin left. Were ones that he thought ever since he allowed another's touch. He didn't intend for it to happen… nor did he ever want to hurt his fragile warrior. Although, he knew it would and did. How could he have let it happen? He wanted him back so bad…
His thoughts and feelings were put on hold as he heard a car pull into the driveway. He knew who it was right away. A friend he had made a while ago. The only one who would visit this house at that time. The friend he made while trying to drink away his misdeeds. The waiter at a club he used to know well. Nuriko. A pleasant face in these times… like now.
