Lies
Kagome lie awake in bed that night, sleepless at two o'clock in the morning. 'Why didn't he kill me? I was ready for death and he…' Kagome thought. Struggling out of the covers, Kagome threw on a pair of junky shorts and a white t-shirt and went downstairs. Despair began to seep into Kagome's heart and once again, her thoughts drifted to Inuyasha. Why did he betray me when I gave my heart so freely? He lied to me. Even on to the point of death, he lied to me. That wish…oh, Inuyasha! I hope that you are happy with Kikyo…Kagome sank down to the couch and started to weep, all her sorrow pooling onto the living room floor. But the sobbing girl was not aware of the eyes that watched her from the doorway leading to the kitchen. There was a scrape of steel and once again Kagome found herself on the edge of life and death. There stood Battousai, looming over Kagome, amber eyes gleaming. "Why don't you just kill me and get it over with," Kagome muttered. 'I don't understand…why doesn't he…' The Battousai lifted up his sword and there was a whoosh of air…But no blood came. Only a soft thud. Kagome dropped down, unconscious. Battousai picked up the still form of his prey and was gone.
Tokyo, the Higurashi Shrine…
Mrs. Higurashi sat in the living room, sifting through old photos. Pictures of Kagome and Souta as children through middle school. Kagome with Inuyasha the first month they knew each other. The hanyou stood mere inches from the camera, startled at the flash and Kagome in the background giggling. Mrs. Higurashi sighed, "Where have those days gone, Inuyasha?" The hanyou in question was sitting on the couch, deep in thought. Inuyasha had managed to get away from Kikyo for a bit to come and visit. "I wish I knew…" The hanyou looked 50 years older. In return for Kikyo's 'love', Inuyasha was beginning to be worn down mentally and physically from his lover's demands. The hanyou decided to tell the elder Higurashi woman the whole story, starting on that fateful day so long ago.
By the time Inuyasha finished, Mrs. Higurashi had tears running down her cheeks. "You cry for them, don't you?" Inuyasha asked, depressed. Kagome's mother shook her head, "I cry for you, Inuyasha. To go through all that anguish, then meeting my Kagome, than choosing so horridly wrong…" Inuyasha sighed. Kagome took after her mother in so many ways. "What do you think I should do?" Mrs. Higurashi smiled sadly, "They way you describe Kikyo, she would not understand your pain. I would try to find a way to reverse what was done. But only if Kagome wants you back. If not, you will have to live with your decision." Inuyasha got up and whooshed out the door, barely nodding to Kagome's mother.
I am gonna be mean and end it there…can't think of anything else…ACK! This thing is so hard to write…
I am continuing…lol
Kagome's mind slowly returned to the conscious realm. Instead of feeling surrounded by warmth, the young Miko was being carried bridal-style through the night. Shivering, the exhausted Kagome fell back into a fitful sleep. Battousai looked down at the slumbering girl, wonder how this girl could manage to get under his skin…
