In the Past: Chapter 3 Surprise and Change in Plans Part 1

Princess Kagome looked out the window at the same landscape she had seen before, but never really got tired of it.

"Keiko, how long have you been with my family," asked Kagome turning to face a young lady only a couple of years below herself.

"I've served with your family for only 6 months, milady, but I transferred from your Uncles house."

"If you don't mind me asking, why did you transfer from my uncle's house?"

"Well, um…you see-"

"Keiko, don't worry I won't get upset just tell me."

"Your cousin, Prince Miroku, started to touch me, were only married couples are only allowed to touch. After that I asked his mother, Princess Kaedae, to transfer me somewhere and here I am now," replied Keiko with a little bit of fluster in her cheeks.

Kagome looked into the landscape again, after listening to Keiko's story, and soon drifted off to sleep.

Back at Chill Fool Valley, the maids hung the white curtains that had flowers decorated all over it, and hung them over the windows. Lady Megumi was in the kitchen in charge of the food, while Lady Sango was putting up the decorations. Then her brother, Inuyasha, came in with his friend, Hojo that had mud and dust all over them from hunting in the woods. Lady Sango walked over to them with a disdainful look on her face. Only Hojo saw this for his friend had his back towards the hall.

"My dear friend, if you don't want to get murdered from the rear, you need to turn and face your predator."

Inuyasha quickly turned around and saw his sister behind him with a furious face and he started to laugh.

"You two know when the guest arrives and the guest shall be staying for a fortnight."

"All right then, but if it is a guy he better beware of me," said Inuyasha with a smile and headed to the door.

Inuyasha's friend, Hojo, started to follow his friend to the door, when Sango called him.

"Hojo, may I have a word with thee?"

"Sure milady," replied Hojo.

Hojo turned to his friend and told him to go on without him and his friend gave him a suspicious look, but nodded that he understood.

"How May I help thee?"

"The guest and I will fence while she remains here. I would enjoy as well as appreciate your help, but you must tell no one of it, okay," said Sango with a searching eye on Hojo.

"I shall guard this secret and I would be honored to accompany you two," replied Hojo, he bowed and left Sango to continue her decorating, while he went to his chamber to clean up.

Back in the carriage, Kagome was thinking about her first true love. She was only 13 years old.

**Flash back**

Her father was taking her to her grandmothers' royal court. Boton was her mother's lady in waiting attendant. Her mother gave Boton to her as her fist personal maid and for her trip to court. When she descended from her carriage she saw him. He had black hair, looked as strong as an ox and his electrifying ruby red and brown mixed eyes. He walked over to her while her father told the servant what to do with the bags.

"Milady, you are the most beautiful maid that I ever set eyes upon. Here take this lily that represents ye in every which way."

Kagome flushed at this. Her father saw this and called to his daughter.

"Come my dear child, we must go tell your grandmother that you are here, that we do."

The lad bowed and turned and left. Her father faced his daughter towards him, he looked her in the eyes with a serious look in his own.

"Kagome stay away from that lad. He is known as the Maiden Thief. He takes a lady's maidenhead and leaves her alone to suffer with her fate. So stay away from him."

He pulled his daughter closed to him, and entered the gates of her grandmothers' royal court!

**End of Flash back**

Kagome smiled as this memory came to her.

"Milady, Milady we have arrived at the castle," said Boton with a worried look at her mistress.

"Tis nothing, Boton, tis nothing," replied Kagome waving away the maids worry.

Kagome started to smooth out her skirts and fix her hair and made sure the dagger that Naraku gave her was well hidden away from sight. This was the first time Keiko has been out of the castle and Kagome saw the worried look on her face.

"Don't worry Keiko, they are nice people. If you have any problems come to me and I'll tell Lady Sango."

Keiko nodded in acknowledgment of her mistress's statement. The carriage pulled through the villages gate. On the highest tower of the castle a guard yelled down.

"The guest has arrived! The guest has arrived!"

Lady Sango hurried to the gate as well as the rest of her impatient family to see who there mystery guest was. Lady Megumi wore her beautiful purple silk dress with gold sleeves. Lord Sesshomaru wore his red and blue shirt as well as his tights. Inuyasha and Hojo wore their best Sunday clothes for they didn't get their bathes until 30 minutes ago. The gate opened and Lady Sango walked out to greet her guest. The carriage came up the hill and stopped right in front of lady Sango. The footman came to open the door.

"Keiko, just follow Boton when we enter the castle."

Keiko nodded again to Kagome's statement. Boton was the first one to stand.

Lady Sango saw someone come out of the carriage so she started to walk to it. Then realized it was on of her friends' maids.

"Milady, my name is Boton."

Boton curtsied and stepped aside. Then notice another maid came out of the carriage.

"Milady, my name is Keiko."

Keiko curtsied and also stepped aside as she was instructed to do.

While the maids were coming out of the carriage, Inuyasha commented.

"This must be a Lady, Hojo. Not unless it is a man who will bring women into this house for his own favor."

Hojo smirked and held back a laugh that was coming up. Lord Sesshomaru looked at the boys and gave them a stern look. Both boys stopped talking and looked straight ahead.

The footman stepped on the first step and held out his hand. Princess Kagome grabbed the footman's' hand as he helped her down the stairs. When Princess Kagome was completely out of the carriage, she walked up to Lady Sango curtsied to her.

"Thank you for having me here Lady Sango," said Princess Kagome.

Then she gave her friend a hug and they both walked over to the rest of her family.

While Princess Kagome was coming out of the carriage everyone was shocked to see her. They all started to straighten themselves up as they saw the two of them head their way. Inuyasha noticed that Kagome was wearing the necklace he gave her and the rest of the females in her family.

Kagome approached Lord Sesshomaru and Lady Megumi and curtsied.

"I thank ye for opening your beautiful home to me, Lord Sesshomaru, Lady Megumi."

Lord Sesshomaru and Lady Megumi bowed and curtsied to Kagome.

"It's our honor, Princess Kagome. You remember my son, Inuyasha, and his friend and knight Hojo."

They both bowed and kissed her hand.

"May I say that necklace ye gave ye gives your skin a generous complement, Princess Kagome," said Inuyasha with a little smile.

"Yes ye may, Inuyasha," said Princess Kagome blushing a little in her pale cheeks.

Lady Megumi led Princess Kagome as well as her family to the Great Hall, where they were to eat that night's dinner.

As they entered the Great Hall, Lord Sesshomaru escorted Lady Megumi, Lord Inuyasha escorted Princess Kagome, and Sir Hojo escorted Lady Sango.

"So this is the lucky guess we are to teach um," said Hojo barely above a whisper.

"Yes, dear Hojo, it is. Do ye havest a problem with it," questioned Lady Sango in the same tone as him.

"No, milady, I don't."

When they sat down the men were to the right of the laird and the women were to the left.

"Are these different curtains from last time, Lady Megumi?"

"Oh yes they are, Your Highness-"
Before Lady Megumi could do anything Kagome stepped in.

"Sorry to interrupt but please just call me Lady Kagome…I'm the Queens grandchild I understand but my father isn't the king until his brother or my cousin is dead…so please just call me Lady Kagome," she said as she smiled at her hosts.

Lady Megumi smiled and continued with her statement.

"…I got them from my great-great grandmother who got them from her mother. God rest her soul."

As Lady Megumi said this she crossed herself and said a prayer. The food was brought out and set out before them. There was mash potatoes, roasted chicken and pork, bread with butter, and red wine as there drink. Kagome was sitting next to Sang who leaned over to whisper something in Kagome's ear.

"Milady-"

"Don't call me milady. We are friends call me Kagome."

"Okay, Kagome, I have set up a lesson with Hojo. We will leave the castle at lunch time to practice."

Kagome blushed a bit, but then she had a worried look on her face and Sango got a little nervous when she saw this.

"Don't worry, Kagome, Hojo will keep your secret."

Kagome's face relaxed and tried to finish the rest of her meal. Then Lord Sesshomaru arose from his chair and coughed a little to get everyone's attention. Everyone looked at him, while placing their utensils on their plates.

"We all should retire for tomorrow will be as hard as the last. So off ye go to your chambers. Lady Kagome, it is a joy to have you here in our home, once again. Please if there is anything you need all you have to do is ask," said Lord Sesshomaru helping Lady Megumi out of her chair.

"Thank you Milord, it is an honor to be here again. May I talk to you and Lady Megumi in private for a moment?"

Lord Sesshomaru and Lady Megumi look at each other with curious looks and Lady Megumi nodded to her husband. Lord Sesshomaru pulled out her chair so she may sit back down in her chair.

"Why yes you may. Sango, she will meet you in the entrance hall. Goodnight Inuyasha. Goodnight Sir Hojo," said Lord Sesshomaru to his children.

Everyone nodded to Lord Sesshomaru. Inuyasha gave his mother a kiss on the cheek and a hug goodnight, hugged his sister and gave her a kiss on the forehead, and kissed Princess Kagome's hand lightly and lingered there. Then Inuyasha walked out of the Great Hall followed by Hojo and Sango. Once the door was shut Kagome turned to face Lord Sesshomaru and Lady Megumi who looked at her with smiles on their faces, Lord Sesshomaru was smiling through is eyes.
