Chapter 2: Heartfelt Confessions.

When she looked, she stared into the eyes that were feared many years ago, “Hitokiri Battousai.” she merely whispered into his face.

He solemnly looked at her delicate, yet gorgeous face. Kenshin slowly blinked his eyes. “Please, tell me the cause of your heart-shattering suffering?” he begged.

Kaoru felt like she was going to shatter, because his face was a picture of a poor weak man need of shelter and love. “Kenshin.” she started to sob.

“Please.” he begged. He was crying. Hitokiri Battousai was actually shedding tears.

“No, it will only make you endure the pain I have to go through. And I will not make you go through the pain, I would rather die then let you suffer along with me.” she shook her face sideways as she tried to keep herself from crying.

“It shall only make me suffer. Please I beg of you to let me in, I know I may have not shared it all with you, but I promise to dedicate my whole life with you, if it guaranteed your happiness. I know I may not have all to give you, but please let me at least give you my love, because my happiness is truly being with you, hearing you breath, watching you practice swordsmanship, and knowing that you're truly happy, just makes my day, no, makes my life. Please let me share it with you.”

Kaoru could not speak or even breathe. The words she has been waiting for have finally been spoken. “I really don't know what to say. I feel the same about you, and I would gladly share my life with you for eternity, even if vast distances kept us apart. My heart forever belongs with you, my love. I would risk my life for you, if it meant that it would forever preserve your happiness. You have long had redemption rule your life, please let me help lift that burden, and let me carry it for you when you tire.”

“I love you Kaoru, my love.”

“And I love you as well, Kenshin.”
