Kenshin's Choice

By: Yaiko Youkai

June 18, 2003

Sano and Seito have been fighting at the Kamiya Dojo for several minutes.

"You're a weakling." Seito said smirking at Sanosuke.

"Yeah well I'm not beat yet! So shut up." Sanosuke said.

"What's going on?" Kaoru asked walking into the Dojo.

"Seito!" Kenshin said walking in with Kaoru.

"Who?" Yaiko asked.

"Sieto the wolf of Mebu!" Kenshin said then stepped forward. "What do you want Seito?" Kenshin asked.

"A rematch of ten years ago." Seito said.

"Fine you shall have it. Leave Sanosuke alone though." Kenshin said.

"I'm fighting him Kenshin." Sanosuke said and attacked Seito.

"Idiot he tried to save your life." Seito said and knocked Sano threw a wall unconscious.

"SANOSUKE!!" Yaiko yelled and ran over to him.

"Is a rematch the only reason you are here?" Kenshin asked.

"Find that out when one of us wins." Seito said and attack Kenshin. He defended himself by pulling his sword out and trying the Hiten Mitsurugi styles flying dragon.

"This isn't good. Imperialist vs Shinsingume again." Itsuke said a little worried when she walked in and saw the fight.

"What do you mean? Kenshin will win like always." Kaoru said.

"I can only hope so. But if he goes back to Kyoto ten years ago then you, Yaiko, Sanosuke, Ayame, Sasume, and miss Magume will be nothing more then a burden he has to bear all the time." Itsuke said.

"Kenshin will never see us that way Itsuke." Kaoru said.

"No not Kenshin Himura but the Hitokiri Battousai will. You're the only one who has been able to ever bring him back from his darker side." Itsuke said and watched the battle very seriously with her hand on her sword ready to step in at any moment.

"So I see the Rose of Kyoto is here as well. Didn't I teach you in Kyoto to put down your sword?" Seito said keeping his eye's on Kenshin who was out of breath.

"The Wolf of Mebu…You'd think the Shinsengume learn to leave the Imperialists alone. you can't win. Beating the crap out of a woman without a sword isn't what I'd call teaching any thing." Itsuke said angrily stepping forward, "Any time moron!" she said arrogantly.

"Mina he's here for me. Leave him alone." Kenshin said standing up, "Ready to go again?" he questioned and then attacked again.

<He can't win with out going back to the Battousai…and he knows that. He's becoming faster and more accurate. He's releasing the Battousai slowly by loosing control of his anger.> Itsuke thought sadly.

"Kaoru. Stay back close to the wall. It's no longer safe to be in here with Kenshin." Itsuke said knowing Kaoru wouldn't leave.

"What do you mean?" Kaoru asked walking up beside Itsuke.

"Kenshin is loosing his fight with the Battousai inside of him." Itsuke said and pushed Kaoru behind her.

"How do you know that?" Kaoru asked.

"He's got faster and more accurate even though he is seriously wounded. Watch closely." Itsuke said.

"She's write missy." Sano said walking in with Miss Magume's help.

"But Kenshin can't go back to the Battousai. He'd have no regard for innocent people." Kaoru said then noticed Kenshin's eye's were a golden color now.

"To late he is the Battousai. Every one stay out of his way!" Itsuke warned.

"Yeah because those two are back in Kyoto. Not ten years into the Maji area anymore…so this is how they fought in Kyoto." Sano said.

"Yes but it was much more gruesome. Imagine the Chosu clan and the Shinsengume squads right there with them and you have the revolution. Plus you had other clans against them as well all in the streets of Kyoto." Itsuke said sadly.

"Killing each other for fun or for a reason? Cause those two seem to be having fun." Yaiko said.

"We did not kill for fun. Well most of us didn't. we were fighting for a restoration of the government. Some wanted to change it like the Imperialists and some didn't want to like the Shinsengume." Itsuke said.

"And exactly which side were you on?" Kaoru asked.

"The Imperialists of course. But after what they did to the Sekihotie I wasn't very sure of the governments stability and reliability." Itsuke said.

"You knew about that?" Sano said confused.

"Of course. Besides the Hitokiri Battousai, the Rose of Kyoto was their next best. Which was me." Itsuke said.

"Ha…what about Shishiwa?" Seito said.

"I lost my cover as a shadow assassin once you came into Kyoto. So they couldn't use me!" Itsuke said.

"Who's this Shishiwa?" Sano asked.

"He's supposed to be a dead assassin for the Imperialist Government. They killed him because he knew too much about the government and the assassinations he did. So he was a threat to peace and the government." Itsuke said.

"Oh…" was all Sano could say to that.

"Is there any way to stop them?" Kaoru asked.

"Only a person that lived threw every thing at Kyoto can stop them." Sano said sadly.

"Enough you two!!" Itsuke said drawing her sword and knocking both the Battousai and Seito's swords into the ceiling.

"Grow up you two this is ten years in the Maji area. You're not in Kyoto any more. You're in Tokyo!" Itsuke yelled at the two.

"Get out of the way Itsuke." The Battousai said angrily.

"I never thought I'd be calling the Hitokiri Battousai a traitor. But that's what you are if you attack me. We're in the Maji area there for no more fighting unless you are protecting the innocent. Got it!!" Itsuke said angrily.

"Move this is an old score." The Battousai said.

"Hitokiri Battousai you are a traitor if you go through with this. And will be given a traitors death!" Itsuke said warningly.

"You wouldn't dare." The Battousai said.

"Try me. The Rose of Kyoto will not allow a traitor to walk around." Itsuke said.

"Calling Kenshin a traitor isn't right Itsuke!" Yaiko yelled.

"Huh?" Kenshin asked looking at Yaiko with his violet eyes.

"Kenshin…" Itsuke said and sighed.

"What?" Kenshin asked.

"Don't do that. You scared the crap out of me." Itsuke said and sheathed her sword.

"Where is Seito?" Kenshin asked.

"I think the real traitor would have been the Rose of Kyoto." Seito said.

"Oh shut up!! It was the only way to protect Kenshin's life to make the Battousai think he was a traitor." Itsuke said.

"She tricked me, that she did." Kenshin said and smiled at her.

"Kenshin Himura?" a guy asked.

"Yes!" Kenshin answered walking around Itsuke.

"I'm…" the guy said.

"The Secretary of the interior." Kenshin said cutting the guy off.

"Yes…" he said.

"What do you want? Did you set this fight up?" Itsuke asked.

"Yes I did. I want to talk to Mr. Himura alone." he said.

"About what you can talk to me here." Kenshin said.

"Fine have it your way Mr. Himura. We need your help to get rid of a major problem in the Government. Shishiwa." He said coming into the Dojo.

"What?! He's supposed to be dead." Itsuke said stunned.

"Supposed to be yes. But is no. we tried to kill him but it didn't pan out. He's trying to start the revolution all over again." The secretary said sadly.

"He can't do that. He knows all the suffering and lives that were lost senselessly." Itsuke said kind of angry now.

"He knows and he want's it to happen again." He said.

"Wouldn't you have tried to kill Kenshin if he wouldn't of had a successor?" Yahiko asked.

"No the Battousai was very loyal and not blood thirsty so we wouldn't of killed him." the secretary said.

"Kenshin isn't an assassin any more. He's a peaceful wanderer. We won't let any thing happen to our Kenshin. We'll protect him with our lives." Kaoru said.

"I agree with Miss Kaoru. If you want an assassin you get some one who has made no oath. I for one have not. Seito has not. So one of us will go if not both." Itsuke said stepping in front of Kenshin.

"Mr. Himura I'll be back for your answer in exactly one week." The secretary Ocubo said.

"Didn't you hear me. Kenshin won't be going!" Itsuke said kind of angry now.

"Look Miss the secretary isn't speaking to you." One of the guards said.

"Yeah will my sword says I'm speaking to him so shut up!" Itsuke said angrily moving her sword a little to make sure he got her point.

"Yes ma'am." The guard said.

"She sure does have an effect on people, that she does." Kenshin said and smiled.

"Look Secretary of the Interior. Kenshin Himura has swore and oath never to kill again. There for he shalln't be going on this little mission of yours. I shall go since I have made no such oath and if you say one more word to Kenshin before you leave the gates of the Dojo I will personally escort you out. Sir." Itsuke said angrily and the secretary left without another word. "Government ha…bunch of jerks." She said angrily.

"I shall be back in one weeks time Mr. Himura." The secretary said. And found apiece of pottery go flying past his head.

"Leave Kenshin alone." Itsuke said standing in front of the dojo ready to throw some thing else.

"All right I'm leaving for now." the guy said and got into his carriage.

"Leave and don't come back." Itsuke said, "I hate stupid people." She said angrily and walked back into the Dojo.

"He's very persistent that he is." Kenshin said.

"You're not seriously thinking about doing this are you?" Itsuke asked.

"No of course not." Kenshin said and smiled really big.

"Liar." Itsuke said to her self and rolled her eyes.

<I better keep a close eye on him.> Itsuke thought.

<I'm not going to be able to convince her I'm not thinking what I'm thinking.> Kenshin thought as he watched Itsuke out of the corner of his eye.
