Chapter 3

Sanosuke took Kenshin out into the middle of the woods the next night of the full moon to change, and then, the two of them wandered off into the woodlands. Kenshin ran with Sanosuke, until they had reached a cavern where Sanosuke could tell the tale of how werewolves had come to be. Kenshin sat attentive, and unafraid as Sanosuke began....

Long ago, when the earth was young, and the humans mere children upon this earth a great war had been fighting between the human tribes. It was immense and lasted for years... One night, a wolf was injured while getting in the middle of the fight. The wolf would die, or so the elders said, soon, however the wolf began to talk. "I shall curse the winning side's first born with my spirit inside them, it shall rise every full moon to seek revenge for my innocent death tonight. So, the war waged on, and one side did indeed win, on the night of the full moon, however, the village's first born children all took on the spirits of wolves, and their bodies changed into the form the soul desired, and they killed their village. As morning broke the children were alone, some wanted to go on their own, others to other tribes, and many just wanted to stay. So they left, however when their blood mingled the soul of the wolf was awakened inside the other human. So the legend goes...

From there, Kenshin learned many things from Sanosuke, and the two became partners, confiding in each other's warm company. So they lived together as a pair always, as friends, kin, and lovers.
