Koaru shot strait up into a sitting position, covered in a cold sweat. The nightmare still fresh in her mind, `not a nightmare, a memory. One that I wish I could forget.' She thought sadly.
Suddenly she heard the rustling of cloth as someone kneeled beside her, “Are you alright?” her brother asked in a soft voice.
She sobbed, unable to hold it in any longer, “The nightmares just keep coming back. They stopped for a while but now they're worse than ever!” Her eyes filled with tears that refused to be held back any longer and rolled down her face. “It hurt so much.” She whispered, her whole body shaking from the memory of it.
Keitaru wrapped his arms around her and Koaru buried her face in his shoulder. “I know.” Was all he said because he knew how much it hurt, and it angered him that he couldn't do a thing to make her feel any better.
Koaru calmed down after a while and dozed off. Keitaru gently set her down on the futon and covered her. He walked to a dark corner of the room and sat down. This way he knew she was safe, and he eventually drifted off to sleep also.

Kenshin shot up to his feet as he heard Koaru's screaming. He heard several men shouting as he raced down the hall, he arrived at the large room of the dojo where Koaru taught her students.
Koaru and Keitaru were back to back in the middle of a large crowd of fighters. Both of them were in their battle positions, though Keitaru's fighting stance was different from any that Kenshin had ever seen Koaru use.
None of the men had even noticed Kenshin, and he was about to strike when he heard Keitaru shout. Both Koaru and her brother were taking men down with their bare hands since Koaru had not had the time to grad her bokken and Keitaru left his swords in Koaru's room when he heard her screaming.
Kenshin stood there for a moment before he too started attacking the large group of fighters, wondering how they had gotten inside without him sensing them.
After a few minutes and waking Yahiko, the fight was over, or so they thought.
As soon as all the men were unconscious and everyone had relaxed out of their fighting poses, a man ran in, moving so fast that even Kenshin only saw a blur flash by, and grabbed Koaru, leaping out the opposite door and disappearing into the darkness before anyone had even taken a step.
“Shit!” Keitaru yelled as he ran to the door and looked into the night. When he turned around again he noticed a piece of paper on the floor, picking it up, he read it out loud:
Your dear sister is going to die a slow and very painful death, but don't worry, I'll mourn for her because I'm going to claim her as my own.
The paper crumpled as Keitaru clenched his fists and let out a low growl that startled Kenshin out of his confusion caused by the contents of the paper. When Kenshin looked up at Keitaru he saw that the taller man's eyes were burning with such ferocity that pure hatred could be considered a kind look compared to it.
His growling voice was barley audible, “That bastard's gonna pay dearly for doing this, and if he lays even one of his decayed fingers on her…” The threat was left unfinished but its message was as clear as it could be.

Keitaru, Kenshin and Sano were fighting their way through a particularly dense part of the forest, dodging trees and low branches while staying cautious of the dangerous wildlife.
They had been traveling for three days. Suddenly, Sano stopped walking and turned to Keitaru, “Are you sure you know where you're goin'? It seems like we've been walking in circles since we entered this forest!”
Kaoru's brother had been awfully quiet since they had started out, he never seemed to sleep and ate almost nothing.
He also stopped, slowly turned to face Sano and Kenshin, his voice was low, “ I know exactly where those bastards took her, we can get there by noon tomorrow if we continue in this direction.”
He pointed in the direction they had been traveling, “This is the path they dragged me here ten years ago.”
His eyes were narrowed in an icy glare as he scowled at the memory of it. Kenshin decided that this was not the time to argue with the taller man's directions, he seemed to know where he was going. “Then we should continue on our way to rescue Kaoru-dono. I fear for her safety, that I do.” And with that, they continued on their way.
At the same time, in a castle, about a day's travel from the three men, stood against the darkening sky.
Kaoru slowly began to slip back into reality, it took awhile for her to gather her jumbled thoughts and put them together, for her mind was still fuzzy from the drug they had used on her. `The dojo… a fight…Keitaru…'
Kaoru tried desperately to fully regain conciousness and take in her surroundings, she opened her eyes to see a man sitting in a chair watching her. “Good. You're finally awake, you were out for three whole days.” He stated calmly.
Koaru's eyes widened as she recognized who he was, “Nobuzaki!”
The man gave a creul smile as Koaru the shackles that held her to the cell's wall. “So you remember me eh? That's good. It would be a shame to be tortured by someone you don't know, now wouldn't it?”
Nobuzaki stepped close to Koaru, she could feel his breath on her face as he spoke, “I wasn't expecting you to awaken until later, and I'm not completely prepared to start with you yet, though, when the time comes, I promise your death will be very, very painful.”
Koaru felt her anger growing and blocking out the fear she had first felt.
She glared at him so angrily, that if looks could burn, he would be nothing more than a scorch on the ground.
He laughed at her anger, “I am expecting your brother to come any time now, and then the fun will really start. I believe that the saying, `Killing two birds with one stone' would work very nicely in this situation, don't you agree? Or should I say, killing two dragons?(a/n-you'll understand later in the story what he's talking about here.)”
He laughed cruelly, walking swiftly out of the room to let his words sink in. Koaru suddenly realized what he was planning to do. “Oh no. By the King, please don't let that happen.”
Outside of the foreboding castle, three figures emerged from the forest.
Keitaru stopped and scanned the area around the castle, checking for guards. There weren't any.
Keitaru immediately became suspicious, Why isn't anyone keeping watch? It's almost as is… wait! He wants us to find him, he's making this trap so obvious, why? I know he's smarter than that, hmm…Better watch our step. Kenshin and Sano had also noticed that there were no guards.
Kenshin also became wary as he realized that the trap was too obvious. Sano clenched his fists, “What the heck is this freak thinking?! Either he thinks we're really stupid or that we'd never make it here!”
Keitaru shook his head, “No, he knew I would come for Koaru, he's being too obvious, he wants us to go in, we have to walk into a trap with no preparation what-so-ever.”
Keitaru walked on towards the castle, Kenshin and Sano right behind. Ready to take on anything in their way to rescue Koaru and defeat this strange enemy.

Okay, I was getting pissed off at myself for having NINE friggin' chapters and only the beginning of the story. So, I combined it all into only two chapters!!!! Oh, and I changed my mind, I won't make it as gory as I was going to, in fact, there will probably be only a little gore at most. Sorry you blood and guts lovers out there! So the rating won't need to go up after all. Please review!!!!
