Chapter 4 Never Let Go
Genji shut his phone and signaled for his pack to move and follow the wolf known as the Battousai. But what bothered him most was that he had found Battousai in wolf form shaking the thoughts out he quickly stepped out of the shadows and stopped Battousai from going any farther. He would complete this mission.

Kenshin had tried quickly to direct the human back to her house but no she had insisted to go deeper into the forest to get something. He shook his head. How foolish had he been when he gave into her beautiful crystal blue eyes. Now here they were trapped within a circle made by a malicious looking bunch of guys who looked like they meant business.
“Ahh, Battousai nice to see you again,” a burly man hissed all the while stepping from the shadows in which he had been hiding in.
Kenshin shot the man a questioning look, why did the name sound so familiar? The man in which had spoken stood about six inches over Kaoru, short black hair became rumpled as the man dragged his hand through it and a maniacal grin broke across his face. Drawing attention to the nasty scar that crossed over his left eye. Absentmindedly Kenshin's thoughts drifted back to his own scar.
Suddenly the man looked angered, spite clouding his eyes making Kenshin wonder what could have happened to the man so angry in the past that he even possessed such anger. The next words were bitten off, “What you think are so powerful that you can't even grace us with your true form.” Kenshin surmised that the confusion was written clearly across his face that it helped the burly man choose his next words, “Don't not tell me that the great Battousai can not even change back his true form.” The burly man roared with laughter when Kenshin could only stand there. The other men joined in. Soon laughter filled the forest causing birds to scatter in fright. Just as soon as it started it stopped.

“My my this must be most degrading for you,” he continued flippantly, “All though it will be much easier to kill you now. Although you are probably weak from your awakening.”

Kaoru watched on in awe as the man continued to converse with the wolf in front of her. This was all crazy couldn't the man see he was talking to an animal. Although she admitted to talking to him a few times herself, she didn't actually believe he understood expect that one time she added in the back of her mind. She was about to let the conversation go on until she heard the word kill enter her ear and play around in her head. Now was the time to stop. Taking a step forward she spoke, “Sir I really don't think killing him would be necessary.” All eyes snapped to her as though seeing her for the first time. The burly man eyed her cautiously and a look of relief crossed his face replaced by a look she knew all too well, lust. The man drug his gaze back to the wolf in front of her.
“Ha, now you are working with lowly human females I never knew you could sink so low,” the man told the wolf, “Although you chose well with this one when it comes to beauty.”
A deep growl erupted form the throat of the wolf in front of her. “Possessive aren't we?” the man taunted, clearly enjoying himself. Kaoru's head has spinning why did he say human as though he wasn't one. Wasn't he one?
“Exactly what do mean by lowly human? You speak as though you are not one,” Kaoru voiced. The man eyes glittered with amusement at her question or it could have been from the entire situation.
“Ahh my dear curious aren't we? Don't tell me your precious Battousai has not told you. Well since he has not I will tell you. Have you been reading the newspaper my dear? Of all the deaths that have been happening in Japan and America, well it is not murder it is merely feeding time for our species.”
A blank look crossed Kaoru's face.
The man continued, “I will put it to you simple I am one of the creatures that go bump in the night. I posses power far beyond your mortal mind can comprehend. I am a son of the night, a thing which you mortals label as a werewolf.”

All the blood drained from her face.

But no the man didn't not stop there, “I feed off of blood along my side with my brother in, the vampire. And your precious Battousai is one of my kind. And together we shall control the mortal world.” His tirade stopped there to take in her reaction and was surprised to see her shaking her head.

Foolish mortals and their denial. (a/n: This is Genji's point of view)

“I do not believe you,” the female in front off him managed to choke out fingers trembling has she unconsciously had weaved it through Battousaui's fur. But why it angered him so much and caused jealousy to play with his heart he did not understand. “Ahh, female but you will believe,” he said a sadistic grin played across his features.
“But enough chatter I have come to complete a mission and I plan to do it with out fail,” the man said signaling for his men to attack. They leapt into action. Kaoru only stared wide eyed at the figures moving so fast her eyes could not keep up. Suddenly a figure appeared in front of her face and she was thrown back. She heard a sickening snap and fell into oblivion.

Archive 4 Power to fight
Kenshin desperately wanted to rush to Kaoru's side but he was halted by the man who had caused all this mess. Cursing under his breath Kenshin stood rigidly before the man.
“NO, no you really think I'm going to let you save her?” the man drawled seeming to be in no rush to finish him off. Kenshin felt anger pour into his body his mind screamed to save Kaoru. But the man before him from what he could sense was more powerful than him.
A similar feeling to one he had before over took his body. He felt bigger, faster lighter using his new found energy he raced through the old trees of the forest praying that the other men would follow

Sometimes during the revolution sometimes men when surrounded would run and then turn around and face the men one on one.
You really think that would work Kenshin?”
“Yahiko, I think anything you try will work if you put your mind to it. That I do.”

Snapping out of his haze Kenshin pushed onward, urging his body to move faster when he heard the sounds of the men gaining. Darting to in fro the trees he decided to put his plan into action, circling around one of the trees Kenshin caught one of the men off guard. Snapping his powerful jaws closed straight into the mans neck. The unknown man fell to the ground dead. Continuing on he finished off the rest off the men until only one remained the one that seemed to be the alpha of the group and had started this. Panting low to the ground Kenshin shifted so he was able to lick his wounds the other men had given him while the other man looked for him, it was only a matter of time. But in that little time Kenshin had realized that he was facing non-humans.
Underbrush rustled and cracked and Kenshin was tossed into the air and sent flying only to be stopped by an impending tree. The burly man was on him in seconds, “You really think you can win like this although I give you credit to defeating my men. It seems I underestimated you.” Kenshin watched as the man reached toward his side and heard the steady clink of a sword being removed from its sheath. He felt the cold blade being pressed on to his neck. “Although you are slightly powerful you are no match for me, the man leaned close into his ear, “I can't wait to break your new human pet, Battousai.”

Kenshin inhaled sharply, Kaoru, he had not been powerful enough to protect her. The most important thing right now, he had promised……he had promised he would come back to her but now, his life was gone. Her smile, her scent… her warmth…. her kindness would all be lost to him. Never would he give up! Never! With renewed strength and much to his and the man surprise Kenshin pushed the man off of him.
Pain over took Kenshin's body as he fell to the ground. He listened to his bones crack and the fur seemingly fade away Gritting his teeth he spasmed once and dug his hands into the dirt. Kenshin's spine shifted his muzzle drew back in. He remembered:
“The first couple of times changing is always the worst,” he listened to his master sooth to him
Accidentally he bit his tongue and spit out the blood in his mouth and stared at the hand in front of his face. Flexing it a few times to make sure it was real he looked up only to see blood red hair falling in front off his face. Why does this form feel so natural? Kenshin mulled over but did not have enough time for he rolled out of the way to avoiding a falling sword. Snapping his head up he saw the ashen white face of the burly man's face and smelt the fear radiating off of him.
The wind bayed through the trees like Kenshin's fallen wolf comrades in the battle he had fought in before as a wolf.

They were baying for blood.
