Ice Blue Eyes
Chapter 2: Complications

'Oh shit!' Her mind screamed but her feet didn't want to move. She closed her eyes as if she wasn't imagining it. Expecting the impact but it never came. She felt to numb, but she decided to open her eyes. Only to have her green eyes meet with ice blue. She realized that she was on the ground on the other side of the sidewalk.
'Did you save me?' She thought as she laid there, only to here clapping from the forming crowd. Her savior kneeling over her. His ice blue eyes never leaving the green.

Before she could peep out a word, he tried to snap her out of her daze. He waved his hand in front of her face.

"Miss? Are you alright?"

'Yeah, I'm alright considering I almost became road kill.' She still couldn't utter a word, instantly cursing herself for looking like an idiot.

"Come on let me help you up." She watched as he got to feet and stuck out his hand for her to grab. Misao took it gratefully, finally coming out of her shock.

"Thank you..umm..." She trailed off, tilting her head to the side. Noticing the rain seemed to change just to a drizzle.

"Aoshi Shinomori" His eyes slightly shield by his long black bangs.

"Thank you Shinomori-san." She had forgotten she was still close to street, and had a crowd watching. Only to look around and glare at the people. A glare telling them there was nothing to see.

"I'll walk you back to your apartment or house. " He offered wondering if the woman could get home without someone's help. After all she did just wander out into a busy intersection.

"Oh but you don't have to, I'm fine really." She tried to get over being light-headed again. Misao turned to go, but not before tripping over her computer case. She fell to her knees and put out her hands to prevent herself from totally hitting the ground.

"Ah.. but you see your not fine."
She felt him lift her up yet again. Misao turned to look at him, the towering being behind her. It was no used to argue, plus she wasn't in the mood to put up a fight.

"Fine, but you really don't have to walk me home." She crossed her arms, now wanting to get dry and not probably look like a wet rat.

"I suppose your right. That's why I'm going to carry you."

"No your not-" Misao as cut short as he picked her up, not caring about her objections. Aoshi didn't have time for this, as it was he knew he was going to get chewed out.

"Shinomori-san! Put me down!" Misao yelled as he bent down to take her case as well.

"Nope sorry. And I'd appreciate it if you wouldn't yell in the ear of a person who's trying to help you."
Misao sighed out of frustration. Imagining the sight the man made. Carrying her suitcase in one hand and have her over his shoulder. She just wanted the day to end.

"Where do you live?." He started walking down the crowded street, towering over the crowd as he walked.

"At the Bloodgood apartment complex, you've probably never heard of it."

"I've heard of it, and I've been there. My friend's girlfriend lives there, so usually I have to call there to reach him."

"Good for you." She didn't really care if she was sounding rude, but she was tired, wet, and sick. That didn't make a good combination in her book. Even though he was good looking and had probably the best eyes she had ever seen, she wasn't in the mood to even try and flirt with him. Plus that wasn't her style, that was mostly Megumi rubbing off on her.

"Shinomori-san?" Misao decided to break the silence. He had been walking a few blocks so she decided it was close enough to her building.

"Hm?" Aoshi kept a slow pace down the street lit path lined with momiji, the glow of the lights shining in his eyes.

"Why don't you put me down? I can walk the rest of the way." Waited for him to answer, wondering why anyone would go out of there way to help her. Aoshi let her slid off his shoulder, she finally got balanced. Misao put a hand to her head, annoyed with a pounding migraine. She stared at him for a few moments. 'I shouldn't have been so rude. After all he did save my life.'
Misao bowed her head alittle."Thank you for everything Shinomori-san. And I'm sorry for being rude to you back there."

He studied her as well. Her jade eyes seemed to mesmerize him, even if they could hardly be seen at the moment. Her wet clothing clinging to her petite frame. He could just imagine running his hands over her milky white skin. Aoshi shook off the thought. Besides he couldn't think like that, after all he was engaged. He couldn't help but wonder. Aoshi sighed before answering her and handing her the briefcase. "It isn't a problem. Are you sure you can get back from here?"

"Yeah thanks again. I guess I may never see again, so good-bye." She gave another small bow, before walking off. Swinging her case slightly as went. Aoshi watched silently as she went.

'What a strange woman.' He turned back the way he came, walking until he found a cab. Running his hand through his short hair to get rid of the loose rain drops. Aoshi stated his destination and sank back into his seat. "I didn't even ask her for her name. Oh well, she's probably right. I'll never see her again." He closed his eyes, wondering if his fiancee would be pissed that he didn't show up for their date.

'Probably. But it's not like it was important.'

Misao made her way into her apartment. Passing a questioning Kaoru and Megumi. She closed her door to her room. And didn't bother lying down on her bed, knowing if she did that it would be harder to get up. She peeled off the wet clothes from her skin. Then decided to towel the bit of her off, as well as wrap up her wet hair. Misao emerged for her room in her usual black tank top and pair of sweatpants. The clothes she'd love to wander around in when she didn't have to work. She walked into the kitchen to see both Kaoru and Megumi busy arguing. And smelling the strong smell of smoke.

"What happened?" She asked sitting down at the table, still feeling alittle dizzy.

"The tanuki burnt the food thats what's wrong!" Megumi sat down next to her at the table.

"Well maybe you shouldn't have left me alone with it!" Kaoru was yelled as she still was holding the spatula.

"I left you alone for a few seconds to answer the phone. It's not my fault you can't cook."Megumi stated in a heated tone.

Misao sat there in silence as the two argued. It reminded her of the time they all shared the apartment. Being friends since high school they had come a long way. With Megumi finally becoming the doctor, Kaoru becoming the writer and finally Misao as the Graphic Designer. All quite different but they still could live with each other. Megumi just decided to move into an apartment with her boyfriend. She was just a few floors down if Misao wanted to reach her. Misao shuttered at the thought of living below Megumi and Sano's apartment. Silently wondering if the people below them got any sleep. The two stopped as they noticed Misao and her lack of energy.

"Hey what's wrong Misao?"

"Yeah what's wrong Weasel?" Megumi leaned over to her and felt her forehead. Misao clenched her teeth at the annoying nickname. But she would tolerate it if it came from Megumi.

"You have a fever, What were you doing? Running around in the rain again?" Megumi took her hand away.

" I wouldn't say running around in the rain. But I've been in the rain quite a bit today and the air conditioning at work didn't help." She decided to leave out the part about Aoshi and her almost meeting with death. Because they'd bug her until she told them the details.

"Kaoru help her back to bed, I'll some medicine for her." Megumi got up from her seat to search through the cupboards.

Misao didn't object as Kaoru pulled her to her feet. She let Kaoru pull her along to her room, finally collapsing in her bed. Misao had her head in her pillow as Kaoru started talking to which she assumed to her.

"You work too hard. Plus I think this will give you a couple days off." Misao felt extra weight added to the bed as Kaoru sat at the end of it. Waiting for Megumi to come, Misao turned over.

"I have to work, I don't need a couple of days."

"Oh come on Misao, You have so many vacation days building up. So what's a few days of no work. Your still going to get paid. Besides I think Saitou can survive two days without you."

"Fine. But I have to call my supervisor first thing in the morning. Or else knowing Saitou will fire me."

"Please he won't fire you. You're one of his best designers."

"Thanks for the compliment."

"What? It's true."

"Whatever." Misao sat up as Megumi made her way in. Handing Misao two pills and glass of water.

"These should bring your temperature down. And you'll have to take more tomorrow."

"Thanks Megumi." She downed the two pills and water, then set the glass on her bedside table.

"Ok well, We'll let you sleep Misao. We still have to order some dinner." Kaoru got up and was pushed out of the room by Megumi. Both seeming eager to actually eat.
Misao closed her eyes. Wondering about the man in the rain, and his mesmerizing ice blue eyes. She let her hair down as she fell back onto her pillow. Slowly but surely drifting off to sleep.

Aoshi on the other hand wasn't surround by loving friends, just a pissed off fiancee. He listen to her rant on and on of how embarrassed she was. Since he never showed up to the dinner she had to sit there like an idiot. But in his mind she was an idiot. He didn't want to marry her, but it was all a business arrangement from their fathers. He wasn't even sure if she loved him, but it didn't really matter. Because he didn't love her.

" Why were you so late, Aoshi! And don't ignore me!" She yelled at him over the counter as he cooked himself some dinner.

" I was delayed Yumi. There no need to yell when I'm right here." Aoshi stated not turning away from the stove.

"Delayed? If you were just delayed then you would have shown up late atleast. Not even bothering to show isn't being delayed!" She walked around the counter, and leaned against the counter closer to the stove.

"It's like you don't even care. I bet you were having sex with someone. I won't tolerate you cheating on me Aoshi."

"You won't tolerate me cheating?" He actually turned to look at her, looking away from his cooking tempura.

"You heard me."

He glared at her through jet black bangs."If you won't tolerate it. Then neither will I."

"I don't cheat on you and you know it."

" Oh really? What about Shishio? I know I'm not the only one sleeping with you."

Yumi seemed flustered. Wondering how he could now about her little affair. Neither wanted to marry each other, the sex was just business as well. The only way they could connect would be through it. But he wasn't the one sleeping around like Yumi. Aoshi just kept with his father's wishes for the two to marry for a merger. He was starting to wonder why he bothered.

"How did you-"

" I have my sources, plus having sex in our apartment doesn't help much of hiding it now does it?" He placed his cooked tempura in small plate. Only to have it pushed to the floor by Yumi.

"Don't make it out like you care about me sleeping with him. You don't give a damn. Where were you tonight?."

"Now your making it sound that you care about me sleeping with someone. All you need to know is I was almost hit by a car." He bent down to his now ruined food, throwing out the remains of the plate and ruined tempura.

"What!"

"You heard me." He mimicked her from earlier. He didn't bother about telling her about the woman he saved from that car.

"Are you alright?" She moved closer to him, to take his face in her hands. He pushed her away as gently as he could, not really liking the change in her mood. But he was use to her mood swings, but most of the time she acted sweet only for sex. And he was just tired of her.

"Don't act like you care Yumi. As we said to each other before it's just business."

"Fine. But if you like it or not we will be married. That is if you want to keep your dear father's company." She stated coolly before walking off to her room. Leaving him to stand there in silent fury.

'Damn bitch.' He slammed his fist onto the counter. Aoshi grabbed his beige trench coat from the coat hanger. Then decided to go for a walk to clear his thoughts, slamming his apartment door behind him.

Author's notes: Ok first things first. To all the Yumi fans, I'm sorry I'm making her a bitch. I love Yumi, and plus her and Shishio belong together. Anyways, she'll be the major obstacle in part of the Misao and Aoshi's relationship. Or atleast among others things. So if you like it please review. I'll try to get the next chapter up soon. Ja-ne!
