Disclaimer: I don't own Rurouni Kenshin or its characters.
Author's Notes: I hope you like this fan fiction story! It probably stinks, but oh well, I'll give it a try? Also this is not the exact story on what happened to Kaoru's parents, so don't blame me for it! It's for the story plot! So, don't forget to review! Sayonara!

Prologue: Never shed a single tear.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
9 yr old Kaoru, Doctor Gensai and Kaoru's father were in a room. Kaoru's father was laying on a futon. While Doctor Gensai was performing medical tasks on Kaoru's father, because he suddenly became ill with an indescribable disease.
“Gensai-sensei, will he be okay?” asked a very worried Kaoru.
Doctor Gensai was concentrating very hard on the difficult task, he looked up from his work and smiled sadly, “Kaoru-chan, I'm sorry, but I'm not really sure that your father will survive or not.” He turned back to the task at hand.
`What? Papa won't be with me any longer, no, he'll survive! He's strong! He's the Master of the Kamiya Kasshin Ryu!' She shook her head side ways.
“Kaoru-chan,” ::cough:: ::cough:: ,“ After this, I don't think I'll be able to see your shining little face anymore.” ::cough:: ::cough::
After he said that Little Kaoru was on the verge of crying. Kaoru's father wrapped his arms around his little daughter. “Please do not mourn for me little one, once my time comes, promise me you'll always stay as you are, pure and innocent my little Kaoru. Do not shed a tear for me or for your mother of whom I'll be seeing. . . . . . . soon. I love you.” were his last words.
“FATHER!” She put her arms on his stomach, and then put her head on them. She kept mumbling, “I'll never shed a tear for you, and Mother, I promise.”
Author's Notes: The prologue-thing ends here, okay! So, tell me what you think, ne?
