"Please! I know she'll want to see me." Kenshin and Aoshi both looked at each other and stood.
"Why is he here?" Kaoru asked, taking the last piece of beef out of the pot.
"You tell me, imÅto."
"I didn't tell him I was coming here. The last time I saw him was last night. He was lying on the floor in the ladies room, holding his balls."
Aoshi smiled unpleasantly and Kenshin's eyes flashed gold. The door opened and Enishi practically fell into the room, the waitress and the hostess protesting loudly. He looked surprised to see Kenshin and Aoshi.
"Saito! Hi. Listen I know we haven't always gotten along, but I really want to make amends with your sister."
"Yukishiro, if you want to live, I suggest you turn around right now, and walk away." Aoshi was surprised at the coldness of his own voice. The diners in the other rooms were starting to stare and listen openly. Enishi ignored the treat in Aoshi's voice. He tried to see over Aoshi to talk to Kaoru.
"Hey, baby. You're looking cute tonight. Hey Misao."
"Don't talk to her." Aoshi pushed him back. This made him pause. Which her? He must have meant Misao.
"Okay, that's cool man, I won't touch your woman."
"They're both my women."
Misao giggled at that and Kaoru stood up. "I'll talk to him."
"We had a deal." That brought her up short. She looked at Kenshin, Misao and back at her brother, then sat down.
"Make him go away." For Kenshin, that was all he needed to hear.
"You heard her, leave."
Enishi looked at Kenshin, and frowned at the slight sense of deja vu. "Who the hell are you?"
"The second half of your worse nightmare if you don't go, now."
He sneered at Kenshin, then turned back to Kaoru. "Baby, why would you pick him, over me? He's too old and two skinny by half."
She growled and Aoshi and Kenshin took a step towards him. "You tried to assault her last night, you slim ball. She doesn't want you here and neither does anyone else. Now, slither back from whence you came and it'll all be over."
"Slither? Assault? I told her we'd be finishing up later."
"And later she said no," Kenshin wished he had his sword.
"Yet you tried anyway," Aoshi was so mad Enishi was starting to blur. "That makes it assault."
"Really? And does this count?" He tried to decked Kenshin and kicked at Aoshi. Both men ducked and Aoshi was under his guard and had the boy in a head lock in two seconds. Kenshin smiled.
"There was nothing about that move I didn't like." Aoshi's smile was feral. Enishi tried to kick Kenshin again and someone called out:
"Deck `im, he's an ass!"
Kaoru and Misao stood up. "Come on, Misao. When they've taken out the trash, we can come back." They were nearly away when Enishi reached out and grabbed Kaoru's arm. She shrieked in surprise and it was on.
"I SAID DON'T TOUCH HER!"
*~*
. . . And the second was the Wolf. Getting information out of Enishi over the phone was laughably easy and within two hours, Saito had someone tailing the boy. When Enishi got to the Akabeko, the tail called the General to update him.
"Your children are here, sir. With a girl and a red- haired man."
Saito arrived in a timely fashion, spoke with the tail and entered the restaurant. He was greeted by the sight of Kaoru and Misao, dressed like ladies of the night, standing on the table while Aoshi and a man with red hair were beating the hell out of a silvered haired man he knew to be Enishi Yukishiro. The other diners, having heard the earlier exchange were cheering on Aoshi and the other man.
*Okay, this is all very interesting.* "Kaoru Elizabeth!"
Kaoru turned slowly and stared in horror at her father. "Um . . .Ken . . .shin . . ."
The red haired man looked up at Kaoru, who pointed at her father. He punched Enishi once more, then lifted Kaoru down off the table.
"It's okay, Enishi won't bother you anymore and Saito can't take you from me."
"Take your hands OFF of my daughter!"
Aoshi dropped Enishi on the floor and took Misao down, cuddling her. She wrapped her legs around his waist. Kenshin's bright purple eyes flashed gold as he turned away from Kaoru, but she no longer feared that look.
"Make me." The low voiced challenge was defiantly the Battousai talking. Kaoru was actually a little turned on.
*They're going to fight,* she thought. *It'll hardly be fair. Dad's at least---well, no they're actually nearly the same age. Dad's 42, Kenshin's 36. Six years won't make much difference. But Kenshin still studies the Hiten Mitsurugi Ryuu. Predicting your opponent. No, Kenshin has the advantage.*
Her father's voice derailed her train of thought.
"What did you say?" The Wolf's eyes were beginning to redden.
Kenshin turned back to Kaoru. "Kaoru-dono, we both know where this is going. If you don't want me to fight him, I won't. I didn't listen to you the last time and it nearly got me killed."
She rocked forward and kissed him, half to spite her swearing father, half because she really wanted to. "Actually, I was wondering if the Battousai ever wants to come out and play."
His gold eyes darkened with lust. "We'll see."
Aoshi was still holding Misao. She had looped her arms around his neck and refused to be put down. They were watching Kenshin and Kaoru with interest.
"Aoshi, what's going on?"
"I'm not sure. Uh oh; here comes Tae and Tsubame. Down you go." She slid down to the floor, pleased to note, as close as she was, that he wasn't as indifferent as he was acting.
"WHAT ARE YOU DOING!?" Tae was hyperventilating with rage. "ALL OF YOU ARE DISRUPTING MY BUISSNESS!"
Within a few minutes, nearly everyone was on the street. When the police arrived, Saito spoke to them and they went away, taking Enishi to the hospital but without arresting anyone. When he looked around, his children, Misao and the red haired man were gone.
He was about to get annoyed when the man he had tailing Enishi rang his cell to tell him that his children and their companions were by the university. They were on foot, going towards the American hotel. Saito knew exactly where they were and hurried back to his car. Pulling into traffic, he made another call.
"Yeah, Saito?"
"I've only got the first name, but he's American."
"That's not much to go on."
"Make it work."
"Arighty, what's his name."
"Kenshin. He's short, red hair---"
"Hiko?"
"I'm sorry?" Saito was turning. The man on the phone chuckled slightly.
"There only one red-headed Japanese-American guy I know of named Kenshin. He's the only child of my martial arts teacher when I lived in Chicago. His name is Kenshin Hiko. He's a couple of years younger than you. I think he lives in New York and if memory serves, he's a lawyer, and apparently a damn good one."
"Really? Can you sent a fax to my car?"
"Yes, sir. Gimmie a minute here . . .alright, it's on they way."
Saito hung up and waited impatiently for the little machine to finish spitting paper. There were four sheet and it was indeed the same man. His picture came out with the past page.
He drove and skimmed at the same time. "Kendo . . . Harvard . . .valedictorian . . .
mother dead. . . 36! Oh, no, we are not having this. No 36 year old man is putting their hands on my little girl."
*~*
"ImÅto, when father finally catches us, after two days of blatant defiance, he's gonna put us both in a full body cast."
Kaoru laughed and nodded. "Wait till he meets my Kenshin; he'll skip the cast and go straight for the casket!"
They both laughed and Kenshin just shook his head. Misao just stared. Aoshi? Laughing? She checked to make sure the world wasn't ending, then decided that she liked that sound.
"Kaoru-dono, you shouldn't joke about that. He was really angry."
"Of course he was." Aoshi sobered. "He doesn't want Kaoru to date. I suppose, somewhere in the background, he has a promising underling he's grooming to succeed him and maybe marry Kaoru. Her feelings in the matter aren't important."
He looked at Misao. "Or mine."
Kenshin frowned. "Do you have your passport, Kaoru-dono?"
"Yes, I always carry it with me."
"Good."
Aoshi shook his head and frowned. "You can't take her out of the country."
"Why not?" Kaoru sounded like she was pouting.
"Because, baka, Father will charge him with kidnapping. He could end up in jail."
"Even after we get married?" Aoshi noted she said it like it was a given.
"Stockholm Syndrome.*"
Kaoru swore colourfully and Kenshin laughed. "Now, Kaoru-dono---" His phone rang. "Hello . . .Okay, Dad, I'm on my way."
He closed the phone and looked at them. "I'm going to the airport to pick up my dad; he was on the red-eye from Chicago last night. Come on."
*~*
Saito was nearly to the hotel when his phone rang again. "Yes?"
"Sir, I just found this and thought you'd be interested. Mr. Hiko is engaged to be married . . ."

* For those of you that don't know, Stockholm syndrome is what happens when someone is kidnapped and, because they have to rely on their captors for food and for approval, they sometimes fall in love. Think Patty Hearst. Look her up on the Internet.

Try and remember that Master Hiko's first name isn't Hiko, it's Seijuro. As his son, Hiko would be Kenshin's last name. It sounds stupid, but what are you going to do.
