A/N: gasp! Two chapters at once…what is the world coming to?

Eh?...(looks around nervously) no reason…just was in the writing mood and had access to a computer.

Plot: -_^ Really? I should believe that because…

“How...how can this be possible? She looks just like Kaoru.” Came the shocked whisper

The young woman moved towards the couple stopping a few feet away her brown eyes gazing down at the two a sad smile gracing her features as her eyes seemed to change. When the hushed words drifted to her she seemed to notice them and the smile disappeared to be replaced by a blank look.

“What you are looking for is not here.” Came the soft spoken words

“How do you know what we are looking for?” came the flat voice

Misao turned to glance at the man beside her wondering how he could always seem to stay so cool, her mind set to try and break him one day. She notice the woman smile at her before turning towards Aoshi.

“He was looking for the same thing.”

They turned their attention to where she was pointing. An image of a man was imprinted on the wall his face showing pain and anguish as he tried to escape.

`He was pulled into the wall…oh my god…'

She turned away huddling into Aoshi's chest at the thought of that might have been her crossed her mind. She felt his arms wrap around her but she couldn't stop the shivering.

“I am sorry I can not help you, however…”

He watched as her eyes softened and turned sad once more. When she didn't continue he only arched a brow at her waiting but she just shook her head sadly as if to say never mind.

“You should leave now. The shadows won't bother you, I'm sorry you had to come all this way.”

He watched as she faded back into the darkness her brown eyes still watching them until she completely faded away. Glancing down he watched the girl shivering in his arms, gently lifting her up he let his ki flare up around them as he began to make his way out of the cave. He needed to speak with Himura when they got out and fast.

Kaoru was jerked out of her musings when she felt herself being tossed around. Blinking her eyes back into focus she turned to glare at Sano.

“Sano! What are you doing up there?”

“Sorry missy but we hit some turbulence but not to worry got everything under control.”

Kenshin could only stare at the younger man wondering how he had gotten his pilots license in the first place.

“Sano there wasn't any..”

“What was that Kenshin couldn't hear ya?”

Kenshin only sighed shaking his head in wonderment over his friend before turning to watch Kaoru once again. He had been thinking trying to figure out what he might have said or done but nothing came to mind. The only thing he could think of was when he yelled at her and Misao for lying to him earlier.

He had be going to give Saitou the information he had collected when everything had erupted and he had found out about the resurrection. His eyes widened slightly when the pieces seemed to click into place. His eyes darting quickly towards Kaoru only to find her staring at him. She quickly averted her gaze but he had seen it in her eyes the confirmation he had been looking for.

`She read it then.'

Sighing he rubbed the bridge of his nose trying to stave off the on coming headache. They would need to talk and soon he had to explain a few things, to try and make her understand. He glanced up in time to see the mountains coming into view, it looked like the talk would have to wait a while longer.

“Get ready for landing.” Sano shouted as he began to bring the plane down

Kaoru practically threw herself on the ground once she got out of the plane thankful to be in one piece.

“It wasn't that bad!” came the hurt voice behind her

She turned around to find Sano a few feet behind her. Grinning she let her face change dramatically before sighing.

“I saw my life flash before my eyes. That's how bad it was. Where'd you learn to land a plane anyway?”

He only grinned at her as he placed a toothpick in his mouth while slipping his hands into his pockets.

“Hey I thought it was good for a first time.”

Kaoru felt her heart stop at his words only to growl in anger when she heard him chuckle the words `just kidding'.

“Baka!” she yelled as she hit him on the head

The two continued all the way towards the mountain path the whole time unaware of a pair of deep violet eyes watching them thoughtfully. When they reached the small village at the bottom Sano suggested they get something to eat before heading out. Before the other to could say anything he had them both sitting down at the local tavern and food set before them.

“We need to hurry up Sano we don't have time for…” Kaoru said trailing off as she noticed how hungry she actually was.

Practically licking her chops she began to dig into the food along with Sano seeming to forget Kenshin sitting next to her. When the two had finished stuffing their faces did he decide to speak.

“We have to hurry if we want to get the book before they do.”

“Right the book, forgot about that for a second.”

“Sano no baka! What do you mean forgot? That's why we came out here.” Kaoru shouted as she moved towards him

“Well my hunger kinda side tracked me. Honest missy.” He pleaded holding up his hands in defense as the small girl advanced on him

They were leaving the tavern, Sano a little more slowly and limping than the other two, when a young boy stepped into their path.

“Would you like a guide?” he asked

“No thanks kid.” Sano said stepping around him

“But I know these mountains better than anyone, are you sure you don't need a guide?”

Kaoru felt her heart break at the sight of the young boy, dirty and scrawny clothes that had seen better times and she couldn't stop the words from flowing out of her mouth.

“Sure, how much?”

The two men could only watch on as she handed the little boy some money before he disappeared.

“He just ripped you off little missy.” Sano said shaking his head

“No he didn't he'll be back and if he did so what he looked like he could use it.”

“Yeah right the brat probably does this for a living ripping off tourists and bleeding hearts like yourself.”

“I am not a bleeding heart.” Kaoru said pouting as she waited for the little boy to return.

He came back a few moments later carrying a small pack. Kaoru shot Sano a look before turning towards the young boy.

“I'm Kaoru and that Sano and Kenshin. What's your name?”

“Chiro.” Came the happy reply

Sojiro kept up the pace as he followed behind their guide, they had been moving up the mountain before, but after a few miles they veered off to the left and were continuing up that way. Smile still present he turned his gaze towards his traveling companion, Usui was moving quietly beside him. Turning away he let his gaze travel around him taking in any land markings that would help them later.

When he turned his attention back towards the front he noticed the other two had stopped. Walking up behind them he followed their gaze to see what the matter was.

“Hm…guess we'll have to go around the path is blocked.” Chiro said a small frown on his face

“This is not a problem.”

Sojiro glanced towards Usui smile growing just a little bit more before he grabbed Chiro's hand and tugged him away from the boulder blocking their way. Chiro watched as the blind man stood before the large rock his staff held out before him while his hand was set in a traditional temple sign.

Curious he cocked his head to the side his blue eyes widening in surprise when the rock split down the middle before crumbling into smaller pieces. Amazed he turned his blue eyes on the taller man wondering how he did that when he didn't see him move.

“Wow mister how'd you do that?” Chiro asked as he moved to stand beside him

Sojiro only smiled at them as he followed the two, his mind already calculating the odds and different scenarios that would take place once they reached the temple.

Sano growled as, yet another branch slapped into his face. Trying not to let anger get the better of him he trudge along behind them cursing the kid under his breath for picking such a cluttered path. Why they couldn't have gone left instead of right was beyond him the other path was at least clear.

“So kouhai how much longer till we reach the shrine?”

“Tired already Sano.” Came Kaoru's teasing voice

“No.”

“Then stopping asking every ten minutes.”

Glaring at them he continued to follow dodging as many branches as he could while keeping the cursing to a minimum. This was going to be a long and painful journey hopefully the rest would be easy.

A/N: Yes another one done and I know this one was short too but it's more of a filler chapter because I'm not exactly sure how to stage the next battle or what I'm going to do with Saitou and Phiona. Not to mention there's Aoshi and Misao to worry about….(sighs) just when I thought I was doing so well….stupid plots and shameless smutt. Still have to work that in there, maybe I could make the next chapter a shameless smutt? Hmm….(rubs chin) ….it would have to be…yeah…mmmm….(wanders off)
