Rurouni Kenshin Fan Fiction ❯ Till Morning ❯ One-Shot

[ X - Adult: No readers under 18. Contains Graphic Adult Themes/Extreme violence. ]
Author's Notes: This is my first Rurouni Kenshin fanfic. I haven't seen enough
of the series to know the timeline as it is and I've only seen one of the
movies. Thus, I've decided to use one of the general clichés for my first
attempt, using my two favorite characters.

Till Morning

Violet eyes glinted suddenly, shielded by a fall of blood-red bangs and he was
awake in an instant. There was silence, unbroken by anything. But he didn't
have to hear; he felt the presence beyond the wall, someone out there. He
didn't hesitate, Kaoru and Yahiko were sleeping nearby, and the fingers of his
right hand curled around the hilt of his sword. He'd slept lightly, unable to
relax as he'd had a sense of something, a foreboding that had left him ill at
ease. Now he leaned forward, away from the wall so his weight fell on his bent
leg and he rose without a sound. His sword he left sheathed, but he was ready
when he slipped out the door, prepared to protect his newfound friends.

Kenshin stood in the shadows outside the door, his body tense as his eyes swept
the ground before him. He couldn't see the intruder, there were no signs that
someone had been there, but he felt eyes on him and his hand tensed reflexively. Then he heard steps, heavy footfalls that sounded from his left and his hair swung in a half-arc behind him, his expression tightening. A
shadow shifted, disappearing outside of the gates to the Kamiya dojo and he
didn't stop to think, following swiftly. There was no reason for a person to be
trespassing, and he couldn't allow it without at least knowing who it was and
what his intentions where. If he meant to hurt either Kaoru or Yahiko, he would
make certain the intruder not be able to come back.

With speed his enemies often compared to that of the Gods, he darted through the
alleyway, hiding his pursuit. It was once he caught sight of his prey that he
faltered, his shoulders jerking back in pure shock and he nearly lost grip of
the balance so necessary to his stance as he was perched on the edge of a
rooftop. For a moment he was filled with disbelief and not a little betrayal,
then he actually shook his head, throwing such thoughts away. Instead, he let
in his confusion, staring at the figure that moved slowly down the alley.
//Sano...?// The hand that had hovered readily over his sword fell limp at his
side and he stood, a vague amber tint disappearing from his eyes. //What is it,
Sano?//

A cool wind swept his long bangs into his eyes and Kenshin shoved them back,
unwilling to be distracted as he perused the figure. He wasn't steady. That
much was evident and he leapt off the roof, landing in an easy crouch as he
continued to stalk the man. Sanosuke may have lacked Kenshin's inborn grace,
but the sway to each long-legged stride told him his friend was either
inebriated or very bothered. Either way, he'd come to him and now he was
leaving again, apparently having changed his mind. For a moment Kenshin watched
the long white coat sway in the breeze as it grew further away from him, then
his eyes latched onto the black symbol emblazed on it and he snorted softly,
following again. //Evil? No. He wanted to do something, he had something to
say. If he needs to tell me something, I'm here for him.//

It quickly became obvious where the man was going and the red-haired wanderer
wasn't worried that the distance between them had lengthened. Sano's strides
were simply longer than his own and while he did feel an urgency to find out
what was bothering his friend, he didn't see a need to hurry. Rather, he was
hoping the tall man might change his mind again and turn back. He held this
until the white-clothed figure disappeared around a corner and he knew he'd
reached his home. Following him, Kenshin walked straight to the closed door,
taking in the darkness inside.

A small home, it didn't seem right to him. But then, he knew it had been paid
for through Sanosuke's past as a fighter for hire, and he wouldn't have expected
anything more elaborate. He simply couldn't help wondering why the man refused
to stay with them at the Kamiya dojo. There was more than enough room and
despite Kaoru's fluctuating temperament, he knew the girl liked Sano's confident
attitude. Not sure whether it would be best to simply tap on the door, he
received one of the greatest shocks of his life as he was suddenly caught off
guard for what he thought was the first time. But he recovered immediately and
he didn't struggle against the strong arms that crossed over his chest, his
wrists held firm and away from the hilt of his sword. "Sano."

"You're so brave, aren't you, Kenshin. Or did you know it was me when you came
outside?"

The man's voice was low, breathed directly into his ear and Kenshin's eyes
widened for a moment before he relaxed again. He could smell the sake on that
hot breath and he was actually relieved to know that his friend was simply
drunk. "I didn't know. Sano. What did you want to see me about?"

"Who said I came to see *you*?" The slender samarai stiffened and Sano snorted.
He could imagine those violet eyes wide in surprise. "Yes, well, I did come to
see you. But I was going to forget about it. Now, I think I'll go ahead after
all. You *did* come to me...Kenshin."

Soft lips brushed the shell of his ear as Sano spoke and he shivered a bit,
blinking sharply. The man grew silent and Kenshin fought the urge to turn his
head and look at him. "That I did," he said instead, nodding quickly as he
managed to get his ear away from Sano without actually moving much. "You know
you can tell me whatever it is that bothers you, de gozaru."

Always diplomatic, ever polite, the slender man was infuriating in his
perfection and Sanosuke tightened his hold on him suddenly, marveling in the
fact that he'd yet to be thrown aside. He didn't for a second doubt that the
former Battousai could do it with ease, the small amount of alcohol he'd
consumed wasn't enough to convince him otherwise. But Kenshin wasn't struggling
and his eyes narrowed when he was able to pull on those narrow wrists he still
held, crossing them over the man's chest. "I can tell you, can I? All right,
Kenshin."

The moon glinted suddenly off widened violet eyes and Kenshin's muscles grew
taut, his mind centered on his neck. Sano had buried his face there, and he
blinked rapidly, unable to comprehend exactly what the man was doing. "S-sano?
What-ah!" Wetness nuzzled beneath the collar of his magenta top, but it was the
feel of sharp teeth nipping his skin that made him jerk against the strong arms
that held him. "What are you doing?"

"You wanted to know why I came to see you," Sano whispered, his mouth moving
over that smooth neck. Releasing the man's left arm, he slipped his hand
beneath Kenshin's robe, his palm running over more smooth skin as he caressed
the redhead's pale chest. "It should be obvious." He circled one of the man's
nipples with a finger and his eyes narrowed with satisfaction when Kenshin's
head moved back onto his shoulder. "Why aren't you fighting me, Kenshin?" He
paused, tasting the man's neck one more time before lifting his head. "Don't
you realize I plan to ravish you?"

His lips twitched, then Kenshin smirked despite himself. He couldn't help it.
//I forget how young he is, I do.// The very idea that Sano wanted to ravish
him was both humorous and attractive, and he started to pull away with the
intention of facing the tall man. Incredibly strong arms held him firm, not
giving an inch as they actually tightened until the grip was nearly painful.
//He's serious. And...he's afraid to let me go.//

"You'll have to try harder," Sano muttered, his jaw clenching. It was just as
he'd expected, and he knew that once Kenshin understood his determination he'd
be in for quite a beating. This thought was enough to turn some of his lust to
anger and he was caught between the need to hold onto the man, and the urge to
shove him away. Then that soft voice reached him and he blinked in confusion.

"Not like this, Sano. It is not necessary, de gozaru." He'd felt the man's
rising anger and frustration; evident from the way the muscles at his back had
contracted suddenly. "Let us go inside now."

Sanosuke gaped for a moment, then he blinked sharply, his dark eyebrows raising
till they were almost hidden beneath his dangling hair. "Kenshin, are you
taking me seriously? If you think I'm going to talk or something, you're
fooling yourself."

His left arm was still free and Kenshin curved it upward, slender fingers
closing over Sano's arm, gripping muscles wrapped in white bandages. "Let us go
inside," he said again. "Unless you don't want me in your home?" He was lifted
suddenly, and he couldn't stop a startled cry from escaping his lips. His hands
held to the arm wrapped around his waist and he craned his neck, striving to see
the man behind him. But Sano had moved his head and he couldn't see more than
the man's shoulder, shadowy white with a dark line against tanned skin. Kenshin
closed his mouth firmly as he was carried inside, the man's decision obviously
made.

"I want you," Sanosuke said harshly, sliding the door shut behind them, the
lithe male supported against his chest. "Outside, inside, I don't care where."
He would have lit a lantern, but he didn't dare release the samurai. //And it
would be harder for him to fight in this closed in space. If he still plans to
fight me...does he...?// Releasing the man, he turned him quickly, snatching
hold of Kenshin's wrists to keep him from going for his sword.

His breath was knocked from him when the tall man shoved his back against the
wall and Kenshin blinked, seeing his friend's face for the first time that
evening. Those vibrant brown eyes sparked at him, and he was caught as they
seemed to hold a certain power. He'd thought the man drunk before, having
scented alcohol, but now he wondered, as the intensity in Sanosuke's gaze was
very clear. Kenshin held still when the man moved his arms up, pressing the
back of his hands to the wall. He was far from disabled, but the samurai had no
intention of harming the tall man who currently seemed to be collecting himself.
It was becoming evident to him that his friend was expecting a fight.

The plan was simple, get what he wanted and make sure the quiet man enjoyed the
hell out of it. But he found himself at a loss, the direct gaze of those violet
eyes held him and he glared into their depths, searching as if he could find out
what the samurai was thinking. Kenshin seemed to be waiting, and his expression
gave away absolutely nothing. The wrists were limp in his grasp and Sano slowly
slid his hands upwards, pressing his fingers between Kenshin's. The violet eyes
he was staring into blinked, then the man's hands shifted until their fingers
were entwined, an unspoken message not lost. His lips parted to ask why, but
his voice failed him; he was afraid the man would change his mind.

"Then you came to seduce me?" Kenshin asked, his voice light, a small smile
curving his lips. He let out a soft laugh when Sano blinked and jerked back.
"Why were you so certain force would be necessary, Sano?" The man had lowered
his head, and he gazed at him with much fondness, enjoying the way those dark
brows lowered as he thought. "And so you left, to avoid that."

"But you followed me, Kenshin. If you've already figured me out and followed
anyway, then..." He trailed off, his throat growing dry as Kenshin's lashes
fell till only a glint of violet was visible. Then the man tilted his head back
and Sano stared, his gaze frozen on the image. His paralysis was broken when
those dark lashes fluttered a hair's breath and he sighed, leaning forward.
"Ah...I know, enough talk."

Leaning down, Sano ran his tongue over the man's lips, brushing them once,
twice, then pushing inside. Kenshin's tongue pressed against his and they
kissed, twining slowly, rubbing and tasting. It was the feel of the slender
man's shoulders shaking suddenly that broke him from what he was doing, and Sano
pulled back, worried. Then the man smiled up at him and he frowned at the soft
laugh that escaped those moist lips. "What?"

"That tickled, de gozaru," Kenshin said softly, making a face as he smiled. "The roof of my mouth."

"So sorry," Sanosuke muttered, then his eyes narrowed. He bent again, but he
kept his eyes open, staring into violet orbs as he moved closer. Kenshin
blinked in surprise and actually gave way, pressing back against the wall. "Are
you always so playful, Kenshin? It's cute, adorable even, but not right now."

Kenshin frowned, blinking at the brown-eyed man as he wondered if he hadn't just
been insulted. Sometimes the man was too blunt. He expected Sano to kiss him
again, but the man lowered his head, mouth moving over his neck.

"Does *this* tickle?" Sanosuke asked, tasting the soft skin as he nuzzled down,
pushing the cloth aside. The man didn't answer, tilting his head to the side to
give more access to his mouth and Sano smirked. He ran his tongue over the
man's pale jaw, pushing with his forehead till Kenshin's head moved back and he
could taste his neck, dipping into the base of his throat hungrily. There was
no soft laughter now, and he could hear the man's breathing, not loud enough.
He wanted to hear him moan.

Sano pulled his hands away, sliding them down till his fingers curved over the
man's narrow shoulders. Drawing him away from the wall, he applied pressure,
staring into Kenshin's violet eyes as the man slowly sank to his knees. The
man's complacency hadn't been expected, but he took advantage of it, swiftly
maneuvering him onto his back on the cool floor. Kenshin's hands were light on
his shoulders, and he knelt, one knee on each side of those slender hips as he
bent over him. He seemed smaller beneath him, his frame so slender to hold such
strength and that added to his allure. With his hands free, Sano pushed the
soft cloth aside, baring the man's smooth chest and he looked for a moment,
taking in faint scars from battles fought.

His eyes widened when Sano brushed his long hair away from his face, the sheer
gentleness of the touch taking him by surprise. Warm brown eyes framed by dark
lashes gazed at him, then the man lowered his head and Kenshin closed his eyes.
That wet mouth traced a path down the middle of his chest, and he held his
breath as he waited. Sano's hands were rubbing his sides, up and down in an
almost distracting rhythm, then the man's tongue touched one of his nipples and
he gasped softly.

Eyes closed to slits, Sano toyed with the small nub, circling it with his
tongue, flicking it, applying gentle pressure with his teeth and generally
torturing the man beneath him as Kenshin's soft breaths began to take note. It
wasn't until he sucked on the man's nipple that he was rewarded with a moan, and
he hardened at the sound. Giving him one more lick, he trailed his tongue
across the man's chest before taking in the other nipple and repeating the
moves. He could feel slender fingers digging into his thick hair and he slipped
one of his hands down, trailing his fingers beneath the waist of Kenshin's
pants, the other tugging free the white cloth belt that was tied loosely about
the man's hips.

Sitting up, he shrugged off his coat, tossing it aside before bending over
Kenshin and kissing him quickly. He buried his hands in the man's long hair, as
the man lifted his head to meet him, sword-calloused hands running over his
chest. They parted after a time, and Sano moved off of the man, his eyes
glinting with lust when Kenshin kicked off his sandals and began to push down
his pants. Without the billowing white cloth, he had an excellent view of
slender legs, but Sano's eyes were elsewhere and he jerked off his sash.
Eagerly he removed his own pants, then he crouched again, glancing up to see
Kenshin's passion-narrowed eyes on him. He was about to move in when a small
yet strong hand touched his chest, halting him.

"Your bandages," Kenshin whispered, holding the man's gaze. "Take them off?"

Sano wanted to argue that it would take too much time, but those violet eyes
moved him and he curled his hands, ripping at the white cloth that bound his
abdomen. Normally strong, it tore beneath his strength, white strands falling
on the floor and he wiped a few off Kenshin's stomach. His breath caught as the
man ran his hands over his muscled stomach, and he blinked at the brightness of
those violet eyes. Then Kenshin sat up and he couldn't do more than stare at
the top of his head, his body frozen by the soft tongue that traced tantalizing
patterns on his skin.

With his arms around the man's waist, Kenshin licked him, feeling the outline of
muscles beneath the skin. His short nails ran over Sano's back, and he could
hear the man's panting breath. More than once, he'd wondered at the bandages
Sano wrapped himself in, whether they were merely to bind his muscles or to hide
something. But the pale skin that had been revealed was flawless, lighter than
his tanned chest but smooth. The man was so much taller than him, that he was
in the perfect position to press his tongue into Sano's navel. Doing so
resulted in the man letting out a surprised cry, and he did it again, dipping in
and out of the hollow. He could feel Sano's hands in his hair, and he felt the
tie being pulled away. Shaking his head briefly, he returned to tasting the man
as fingers combed through his long strands, gentle and not distracting.

His hair was dark as blood in the unlit room, and so long that Sano would have
like more time to caress it. Unfortunately, his body was strumming from
Kenshin's ministrations, and the need was foremost in his mind. Even in his
frequent fantasies since meeting the man, he'd never imagined Kenshin touching
him. It had always been him, taking advantage of his strength to show a
stubborn man what he could offer. Obviously, he had missed the truth, and he
tugged lightly on Kenshin's long hair, relieved when he looked up. Then he saw
the man's face, and his breath caught at the sly smile that curved those
inviting lips.

"Yes, Sano?" Kenshin murmured, his violet eyes glinting. The man didn't answer
immediately and he ran his tongue over his stomach again, enjoying the gasp that
rang out above him. "Did you want something, Sanosuke?"

"Kenshin."

The warning in that low growl made him smile, and he let go suddenly, falling
lightly onto his back. Clearing his face, he closed his eyes, arms limp at his
sides. "Ah."

Sano blinked in surprise, leaning over the man. "Kenshin?" Those lips curved
again, and he smirked at the sight of the man's smile, shaking his head. Then
he kissed him briefly, hands framing Kenshin's face and lifting him, just a bit.
After he'd pulled away, he trailed a hand down the man's hip, his long fingers
curling around a lightly muscled thigh. He had to straighten in order to be in
a better position, but Kenshin lifted his legs, bending them beneath his guiding
hands so he could kneel between them. Sano's arms curved, supporting the man's
legs and his gaze fell, a light flush marring his cheeks. Not daring to glance
at Kenshin, he bent forward, breathing onto the man's erection. The immediate
shiver that went through the slender body was very encouraging and he pursed his
lips, blowing lightly. Kenshin made a soft sound, and while he wasn't sure
whether it could be labeled a moan, he liked it. Wetting his lips, he glanced
at the man, not disappointed by those closed eyes, an expectant expression on
his face.

Shifting Kenshin's left leg over his shoulder, Sano lapped the length before
him. His hand moved so he could rub the base of the erection with his
fingertips, pressing as he ran his tongue over the head. The resulting moan
made him grin, and he wrapped his lips over the man, his hand moving lower,
touching the soft skin beneath the sack. Then he curled his fingers and gently
pressed the knuckle of one into the skin, applying pressure and shifting until a
sharp gasp rang out above him. He suckled the head of Kenshin's erection,
pressing harder on that spot, stimulating the man's prostate without
penetration. It wasn't the same, but it obviously had a nice effect, and
slender hips shoved upward, Kenshin's legs tensing noticeably.

He lifted his head, gazing briefly at Kenshin's face. The man's expression was
one he'd never seen, a cross between pleasure and pain yet he knew he couldn't
possibly be hurting him. Unless it was the teasing, in which case he didn't
mind tormenting the man. Dark lashes lay on Kenshin's flushed cheeks, his lips
parted to release deep panting breaths and Sano wrapped his hand around the
man's erection, his eyes glinting at the resounding moan. He bent again, his
tongue sweeping over the man's abdomen, his hand not faltering in its twisting
strokes. Salt registered on his taste buds, but he took pleasure from the hot
sheen on Kenshin's body, evidence of his arousal as if the hard length he held
was not enough. Using his tongue, he repaid the man for his earlier treatment,
dipping and swirling into Kenshin's navel. He barely felt fingers thread
through his hair. Then his head was tugged upward, and he blinked at dark slits
of violet, a demanding gaze.

Sano straightened slowly, and he released Kenshin's length, his arm moving down
so he could lift the man's hips. Those violet eyes had closed, and he pressed
his own erection against him, very aware of how limp the man's legs were, a sign
of his relaxed muscles. Then he pushed into him and Kenshin let out a low moan,
his head tilting back against the floor. Bending, he ran his tongue over the
man's lips, his own eyes falling shut as he was enclosed in velvet heat. An
eager tongue curled around his and they kissed, Sano groaning into his mouth as
the man tightened around his base. He pulled out slowly, panting as Kenshin's
muscles continued to grip him, then he moved in again. Sinewy arms swept over
his shoulders, the man's legs bent so his knees nearly pressed his chest.

Encouragement obviously wasn't needed, and Kenshin moaned, his body moved by the
tall man's thrusts. He felt as if he were being controlled, driven with
pleasure and he tightened his arms, drawing Sano closer. One hand touched the
back of the man's head, gripping thick dark brown hair and he pulled him down so
he could take his mouth. His intention had been to allow Sano complete control,
but he couldn't think of that anymore and he tightened his muscles at random,
increasing the friction. Sano broke the kiss, gasping before a moan escaped him
and Kenshin's eyes opened a bit so he could look up at him. Those beautiful
eyes were closed and his gaze slipped down to moist lips. Then he pressed him
down again, sweeping his tongue into the young man's mouth.

They were pressed so close it was difficult to press a hand between them. Sano
could feel himself reaching his limit and he lifted, his hand going to Kenshin's
length. He squeezed it gently, belying his haste. Then he gave in to his
urgency, stroking rapidly and making the slender man arch beneath him. Muscles
clenched around his base, and he gave a sharp thrust, taking advantage of the
tightness before giving in completely.

Minutes passed before either caught his breath, and Kenshin broke the silence
with reluctance. Sano was draped over him, and as much as he enjoyed the man's
exhaustion, he had to move him. "You're too heavy," he whispered, smiling when
the man's head snapped up, brown eyes blinking at him.

"Oh." His face heated with an embarrassed flush, and Sano pushed himself off of
the slender man. He felt as if he'd just finished a battle, his muscles achy,
and he remained kneeling. Then the red haired man rose to his knees as well,
and his blush darkened at the ensuing embrace.

Pressing against the tall man's chest, Kenshin held him close for a moment.
Then he shoved forward, smiling at Sano's surprised expression when he was
pushed to the floor. He knew the man didn't mind his weight, and he stretched
out on him, his arms bent so he could look into wide brown eyes. Rather than
words, he brushed a light kiss over Sano's lips before resting his head against
the man's neck. Strong arms moved around him, and he sighed, a smile still
curving his lips.

"Kenshin..."

At the man's soft voice, Kenshin pushed himself up, laying the tips of his
fingers over Sano's lips. "Shhh," he whispered, shaking his head. "Not now,
Sano. Let me enjoy this?" Uncertainty gleaned in dark brown eyes and he turned
his head, brushing his cheek against the man's. Then he hid his face again, his
arms moving to hold him again.

His mind was distracted, worried by the implications and possible consequences
of their dalliance, but Kenshin's soft-spoken words calmed him. Closing his
eyes, Sano ran his hands over the man's back before letting out a sigh of his
own. The man was right. There was no reason to ruin what they'd shared with
what the future might bring. And he was content to hold him till morning.
