Chapter 4
4: Dreams

The night whistled and chirped with different nocturnal creatures as everyone in the village started to settle in for a restful night's sleep. Ryuma had gone to bed in the guest room and Kanami went to her room after making sure the teen had settled in. That only left Kazuma and Ryuhou in the main room, sitting on sofas opposite of each other.

Kazuma leaned back into his seat, wondering what had rounded up his courage to kiss Ryuhou so unexpectedly that morning, right in Kanami's house in the living room where anyone could have walked in through the front door and witnessed the obscene sight. However, that's not what he was concerned with right now. It was the fact that Ryuhou had accepted the offer, and with such force. “Well, aren't you going to say anything?” He asked, irritated with the contemplating silence.

Ryuhou looked up out of his reverie and blinked. “I'm sorry,” he said, as if he had just spilt milk all over the carpet and was trying to clean it.

That totally caught Kazuma off guard. “What's the matter with you Ryuhou? You've been acting so strange ever since I kissed you.” Kazuma moved away from his seat to sit beside Ryuhou. “Tell me man.”

Ryuhou held in a grunt and faced the younger man. “Don't you think that's why I've been acting strange?”

Kazuma blushed in realization. “Uh…yeah. I suppose you're right.” He smirked. “Do you want to do it again? This time no one will interrupt us.” He ran his gloved hand up Ryuhou's leg until he felt his fingers tap against the green haired alter's inner thigh. He noted the other's heavy breathing as he became more erotic with his touches.

“Stop it, Kazuma,” Ryuhou demanded and stood up, separating himself as far as he could away from Kazuma's offending fingers. “We need to talk about this. Why of all times did we choose, after fifteen years, to express how we feel toward each other?”

Kazuma shrugged, his face dropping to stare down at his lap. “I don't know, Ryuhou. Maybe…we were just frightened of the other's reaction? Do we really need an explanation on why it took us so long to tell how we felt about each other?”

The older man clinched his jaw as he stared at Kazuma's abnormal youthful expression. “Too me, Kazuma, yes! We've wasted fifteen years to be together. I've been wringing my heart out every time I get near you, whether it's on the battlefield or not. This whole time you felt the same way about me, and you could have been the first one to express your feelings. Why didn't you? You're always open to your feelings, Kazuma.”

Kazuma flinched. “Not always. I don't cry, as I always should when I'm hurt or someone close to me has died. In addition, expressing how I feel toward someone is even more difficult. However, I did show you first…how I felt this morning.” He chuckled uneasily and then gasped when he felt Ryuhou's hands press against his shoulder, pushing him back against the couch.

“That's not funny, Kazuma. Now we have to catch up on everything that we've missed out on.” Ryuhou's expression softened exotically. “I'm not about to ignore a beat of it either.” He closed the distance between him and Kazuma and pressed their lips together.

Kazuma moaned to the fierce, yet gentle lips against his own. “Ryuhou,” he murmured softly. He grabbed the older man's wrists that had worked their way up to his face. “Shouldn't we do this…somewhere located NOT in the living room?”

“Hn,” Ryuhou grunted his response as he went back to exploring Kazuma's mouth.

`I'll take that as a no,' Kazuma thought with amusement and returned the kiss with his own fiery passion.

`Who is he? He's constantly sad for this man that he loves.' Ryuma curled his fingers into the sheets. `It's another dream…of those people…but it's different.' Tears settled along the rims of his eyes. `This man the red haired alter calls Kimishima. Is he…his lover?' He felt a tang of envy as he bit his bottom lip. `Why do I feel so much resentment for this Kimishima? I hardly know this person.' His tears finally fell one after the other into his pillow. `However, I can't stay mad at him. He died to, but somehow it's more heartrending than when that woman gave her life away. I want to hold this Kimishima, hug him, and kiss his tears away…' He abruptly shot up in his bed, crying out in sorrow. “Please don't leave him!”

The door swung open, revealing two disheveled figures. “Kazuma!” Tears fell down his face profoundly now. “He left…he's…gone!”

Kazuma approached the bed in one quick stride and sat down in front of the teen, a worried expression evident on his features. “Ryuma…you just had a bad dream.”

Ryuma shook his head as he lunged into Kazuma's arms, crying loudly. “No, it was so real. I knew him somehow. He died in the other man's arms…without him knowing until it was too late.”

The red haired alter took in a sharp breath as he held Ryuma tighter in a hug. “No, no. It was just a dream. Relax.” He buried his face into the green locks and apprehended his own tears from falling. “It'll be alright, Ryuma.”

Ryuhou sat down on the bed beside them both and gently stroked the teen's back, not sure of what else to do. “Like Kazuma said, it was just a dream.” How a dream of Kazuma's past could be floating around Ryuma's head was beyond him. He always heard the tale from Kanami that Kimishima was Kazuma's best friend…maybe lover, but he had died in the alter's arms. It was a lingering memory and a mournful time for them both. Ryuhou knew this wasn't exactly the greatest moment for Kazuma to recall the past, but it was unavoidable at the same time. He gingerly grabbed Ryuma away from Kazuma's arms, surprised when the teen suddenly clung to him. He felt a heart wrenching drive throb away at the back of his mind and direct its way into the pit of his stomach, filling it with regret and then comfort. “Ryuma,” he whispered. “Don't cry, please. It'll just make you sick.” He hugged the teen and stroked his hair. He smiled weakly when the teen's sobbing had slowed and he looked up with reddened eyes.

“I…I didn't mean to wake you both. I'm sorry,” Ryuma apologized. He sniffled as he pulled away from the green haired man. “My dreams are always of people dying. I can't take it anymore.”

Kazuma grinned from the comment of waking them. He was going to say something about it, but decided against it. A thought came to him when he peered at the pillows on the bed. “How about we sleep together then?”

Both Ryuma and Ryuhou looked up flustered. “What?”

Kazuma chuckled as he pulled the sheets down. “Come on kid, get in. We'll sleep with you. It might make you feel better.”

Ryuma blushed faintly as he nodded reluctantly and crawled underneath the sheets. He took a deep breath before Ryuhou crawled in on his right and Kazuma on his left. He suddenly already felt better, more relaxed. He smiled contently and, for once, fell into a blissful sleep.

Ryuhou and Kazuma watched the teen sleep and then stared at each other with loving smiles.

“You'd make a good dad,” Kazuma mockingly whispered to Ryuhou. He swung his arm around Ryuma's body, hugging him close.

Ryuhou smirked. “And you'd make a good mom.” He reached over the teen's chest and stroked his lover's face, wiping the death glare away. “Admit it. You know it's true.” He relaxed his arm, letting it settle against Ryuma and Kazuma's stomachs, holding them both for comfort. “Goodnight, Kazuma.”

“Goodnight, love.” Kazuma yawned widely as he nuzzled his nose into the teen's hair and fell to sleep instantly.

A/N: It's hard to write in Kazuma's POV. For some reason it's a lot easier to work with Ryuhou. It's probably because we think alike. However, we do react differently toward different things. XD I at least don't have emotional problems…sometimes! ROFL!

Ahem, on another note, I pretty much know what to write in the next chapter, but I need someone's opinion before I start writing it though. This person knows who she is! XD

By the way. Thanks Dannie yoko and Nanaka for the reviews. That was really nice of you both!! Oh, yeah. Nanaka, don't worry; you probably weren't hallucinating about the spelling mistakes. I tend to get ahead of myself…a lot. ^^;
