Well, we are at the newest one-shot and this is the first of a group of new one-shots that I hope to do. I have to say that this one is going to be ‘funnier’ since it is going to have plenty more ‘comical’ moments in it. You will see when you start reading it. I have to say that I’m really loving Memory Defrag despite NOT playing it all. I’m watching the stories posted on YouTube by other players. I think that these stories give the SAO universe a lot more depth in my opinion. But what do you think folks? Now, before I start, which I know this is getting ‘old’, I must give thanks and credit to Belletiger and Kanius as well as Kanius’ YuYuGiDigiMoon fanfiction series, especially his The Invasion of the Rajita story, for giving me permission to use the idea of Valkyrie Sailor Soldiers and everything that’s a part of them in my fanfiction. Prelude: A castle of stone and metal floating in the sky that consist of one hundred floors. Within this massive structure, there are countless cities, villages, towns, forests, plains, lakes, and whatever you can imagine. There is only one staircase that connects one floor with another, and these staircases are located within dangerous mazes filled with monsters. The players with navigate through these floors to the top with nothing than the weapons in their hands. And yes, I said players.

 

This is the world of Aincrad, a floating castle in a virtual sky, and yes, I said VIRTUAL sky. This world and this floating castle world are in a realm made of digital information…the world of Sword Art Online. A world that was supposed to be game, but because a nightmare prison when its creator, Akihiko Kayaba, trapped the ten thousand players within this virtual world and if they die here, they will die in real life. The ten thousand players struggle in this ‘game death’ to reach the top of the floating castle where the final boss and the key to their freedom waits.

 

You may know this story and the stories that come after it, but do you know all the stories? All the tales that happened within the floating castle? Story 30: Wacky ‘Conditions’ and Debuffs 1: Animal Instinct Exposed

 

Note: This story takes place after the events of World’s Song.

 

January 2026, ALO, Svart Alfheim, Ryne

 

Within Kirito’s and Asuna’s inn ‘home’ within Ryne, the ‘capital’ of Svart Alfheim, Kirito, Leafa, Sinon, Usagi, Tomoe, Dai, Akari, and Takeru are assembled together as Yui, Kirito’s and Asuna’s AI ‘daughter’, discusses something with them.

 

Kirito asks, surprised, “Animals are running amok?!”

 

Yui replies, with a nod and solemn tone, “That’s correct. Wild animals throughout Alfheim have suddenly attacking fairies.”

 

Kirito says, “That’s odd. We’re living in a fantasy world, so animals here are either ‘neutral’ or ‘murder’ mode.”

 

Tomoe asks, curiously, “Murder mode?”

 

Akari says, with a nervous smile, “That’s one way of saying it.”

 

Takeru says, with a nod, “Yeah.”

 

Kirito asks, “There were beasts that Yuuki made for that event that caused havoc…is it that kind of thing again?”

 

Yui says, “Rumors say that the animals attacking include lions, tigers, and bears…Oh my. Monkeys, too.”

 

Dai asks, with a sly sarcastic remark, “What? No elephants, Yui?”

Usagi tells Dai, annoyed, “Dai!”

 

Dai responds, “Hey, your ‘virtual niece’ is calling animals from a circus.”

 

Kirito’s eyes open wide and he says, “Wait a minute! Dai’s right!”

 

Leafa asks, curiously, “He is?” Leafa says, realizing something, “Oh, wait! You’re right, big brother!”

 

Sinon says, also realizing what Kirito is implying, “I get it.”

 

Usagi, Tomoe, Dai, Akari, and Takeru look at each other, their eyes grow wide, and Takeru says, snapping his fingers, “Yeah, that’s it!”

 

Sinon says, “All those creatures that Yui mentioned were those that circus NPCs used for their tricks.”

 

Kirito asks, “So, that means that those animals have broken free and they are running wild?”

 

Leafa replies, “That can’t be. The trainers were nice to those animals and they really loved each other.”

 

Sinon says, “I’m with Leafa there. The animals were treated well there and there is no cruelty that I can see.”

 

Akari says, with a nod, “Same here.”

 

Kirito says, “Well, let’s go swing by the circus and ask. Maybe they know something.”

Usagi says, with a nod, “Good idea, Kirito.”

 

Dai asks, with a sly smile, “What are we waiting for?” The rest of the group nod their heads and all of them head out to meet with this circus troop.

 

January 2026, ALO, Cait Sith territory

 

Later on, that same day, within Cait Sith territory on ALO ‘proper’, known as the continent of Alfheim, Kirito, Leafa, Sinon, Usagi, Tomoe, Dai, Akari, and Takeru are inside of a circus ‘camp’ where they are talking to a young female human circus worker. FYI: This circus troop isn’t made of fairies, NPC or player, but a group of NPC humans that came from Midgard, the realm of humans, which is a new part to ALO recently added after Svart Alfheim.

 

The NPC woman says, “Yes, that’s right. Somehow all of the animals slipped out of their cages and left us. We have one eyewitness. They said that a group of fairies kidnapped our animals.”

 

Kirito asks, “Fairies, huh?”

 

Tomoe asks, “Fairies? Did they have wings similar to ours, ma’am?”

 

The NPC woman replies, with a nod, “From what they said, they had fairy wings.”

 

Dai says, plainly, “There is only one group of fairies that can control animals and monsters.”

 

Takeru says, “While we can’t be sure of that, you have a point. These are trained animals and trained by these people. I doubt that they would go with anyone else willingly due to the bond between the people here and their animals.” Takeru asks the woman, “Did the eyewitness say that the animals tried to resist?”

 

The NPC woman says, amazed, “That’s the thing. They said that our animals put up no resistance against their kidnappers.”

 

Sinon gets a bit nervous and Kirito says, “I hate to say it, but that’s telling.”

 

Usagi says, with a nod, “Yes. If the animals didn’t resist the kidnappers, it is pretty obvious that they were under some kind of control. Most likely, it would be due to a ‘taming skill’ and there is only one type of fairy that’s prominent in that skill.” Usagi gives a glance at Sinon to say: ‘I’m sorry’.

 

Dai asks, motioning to Sinon, “Did these fairies have ears and tails similar to our friend here?”

 

The NPC woman looks at Sinon and she replies, shaking her head, “From what I heard…No. They had big ears and tails like this fairy, but they were…different.”

 

Leafa says, confused, “That’s vague.”

 

Usagi asks, “Can you tell us where they have gone?”

 

The NPC woman responds, with a nod, “Yes, I can tell you in the general direction that they have gone.”

 

Akari says, with a smile, “Thank you. We’ll make sure to get your animals back.”

 

The NPC woman replies, with a kind tone, “Thank you. You are too kind.”

 

Dai says, “Time to move out.”

 

Tomoe responds, nodding her head, “Right.” Soon enough, after getting the information from NPC circus woman, the group heads off in said direction to find the mysterious fairies that kidnapped the circus trope’s animals.

 

January 2026, ALO, Cait Sith-Pooka borderlands

 

Inside of a jungle that lies in the border between Cait Sith and Pooka territories, our group are looking around for any signs of the circus animals or their kidnappers.

 

Kirito asks, “So, those fairies with big ears that weren’t Cait Sith ran this way, right?”

 

Dai says, “Based on what that lady said.”

 

Leafa says, “Since the rumors of the animals running wild are over here, then…yeah, most likely.”

 

Sinon says, “We’re pretty close to Cait Sith territory.”

 

Usagi tells Sinon, “Come on, Sinon, you know that the woman said that those fairies didn’t look like you, so, they couldn’t be Cait Sith.”

 

Akari says, with a nod, “We know that every Cait Sith player is different, but they have similar ears and tails.”

 

Takeru says, “True, but only the Cait Sith have the taming skill that could have made those animals go with the kidnappers.”

 

Kirito says, with a nod, “True.”

 

Leafa asks, “Well, how about this theory? There are gods and druids that can control animals in Norse mythology. How about that?”

 

Kirito replies, with a nod, “Well, okay. There could be unique NPC involved around here. We’ve seen them before.”

Usagi says, nodding her head in agreement, “That’s a good point…”

 

Sinon says, “Maybe, but…Hold up!”

 

Leafa’s ears ‘perk up’ causing Leafa to shout out, “Incoming!”

 

Kirito asks, confused, “What? What’s happening? What am I missing?”

 

Usagi, quickly realizing, asks Leafa, “Leafa, what are you hearing?”

 

Leafa responds, “I’m hearing a lot of footsteps! Something is trying to sneak up on us!”

 

Immediately, everyone starts to get on guard and Takeru says, “Got to love those Sylph ears!”

 

Dai asks Sinon, “What did your eyes tell you?”

 

Sinon responds, “I see sunlight flashing off the eyes of those sneaking things trying to hide in the shadows. They’re stealthy and slinking through the shadows…like a pack of wolves.”

 

Usagi says, “They must be stealthy. My detection skills aren’t detecting a thing!”

 

Takeru asks Kirito, “What about you?”

 

Kirito responds, shaking his head, “Same here. Wow. Sylph ears and Cait Sith eyes are awesome! I can’t see or hear them at all.”

 

Dai says, “And that’s why you need a good Sylph, a good Cait Sith, or both in your group.”

 

Tomoe says, with a smile and a nod, “Here in ALO, a good detection skill isn’t an assurance that you will escape an ambush.”

 

Usagi says, with a nod, “Good point, Tomoe. Sphica is awesome with her ability to hide. Kirito’s and my Search skills are practically useless against her.”

 

Kirito says, nodding his head in agreement, “Yeah, you’re right.” Kirito asks, “Can you tell that they are ready to attack us?”

 

Leafa focuses on using her Sylph hearing and she says, “No, it looks like they are focusing on keeping an eye on us for now. From what my hearing is telling me, they aren’t advancing towards us.”

Sinon says, with a nod, “That’s based on what my avatar’s eyes are telling me. We don’t seem to be in danger for now…Ah, danger!”

 

Immediately, the others snap to attention and Kirito says, confused, “What? Where? Oh, above us!” Everyone looks up to see a group of shadows coming down from above and nearly on them.

 

Leafa asks, “An aerial attack?!”

 

Sinon says, annoyed, “You are going to regret that!”

 

Usagi yells out, “Make them pay later! Evade!”

 

Takeru shouts out, “Too late!” Just then the whole group yell out as they are hit by a ‘bright light’ and they are engulfed by that ‘light’ in which we can’t see them as the ‘scene’ then ‘fades out’.

 

January 2026, ALO, Yggdrasil City

 

In Kirito’s and Asuna’s actual player home in Yggdrasil City, the current ‘capital city’ of ALO located within the World Tree, Asuna, Mamoru, Minako, Michiru, Taichi, and one other player in the living room away from the front door.

 

The male player is a male Sylph with a familiar spiky blond hair, blue eyes, and wearing equipment/clothing similar to a familiar blond-haired ninja.

 

When they hear the front door open, Asuna says, “Oh, hey, Kirito. Welcome back.”

 

Minako says, “We got your message about the circus animals going wild. Arashi, Mamoru, Asuna, and I just got in.”

Asuna asks, “How did the quest go? Did you find those animals?” But when said four players look towards the door, they gasp in shock to see Kirito, Leafa, Sinon, Usagi, Tomoe, Dai, Akari, and Takeru, but they are quite ‘different’.

 

Kirito has a pair of black dog ears coming out of his scalp with a canine-like tail attached to his ‘rear end’.

 

Dai is similar, but his dog ears are fiery red with his canine-like tail being the same color.

 

Takeru has a pair of blond fox ears coming out of his scalp with a blond fox style tail coming out of his tailbone area.

 

Leafa has a pair of blond dog ears coming out of her scalp, long bushing blond dog tail coming out of her tailbone area, and she is wearing a white furry choker/collar around her neck connected to a green and white sports bra style top, much of her arms are covered in green sleeves with white furry ends, white bikini thong connected to a green half-skirt that’s covering the right leg/side down her right kneecap, and a pair of green and grey boots with white furry ends at the top end of the boots.

 

Sinon’s Cait Sith ears are gone, replaced by a pair of snow white bunny ears that have the top half of them flopping downwards, green choker, white furry ‘scarf’ with a green bow attaching both ends of it together, light green/dark green bikini top with white fur attached to the top ends of the top, light green sleeves that cover most of her arms with white furry ends at the front end of the sleeves, light green shorts that covers up to the bottom of her navel down to one-eighth of her upper legs, a cotton-tail coming out of her tailbone area with a large green bow wrapped around it, and dark green platform boots with several inch soles and flat wedge heels that are just one inch higher than the soles.

 

Usagi is sporting a pair of silver fox ears coming out of her scalp and a silver fox tail coming out of her tailbone area where she is wearing a white furry choker around her neck which is connected to a silver and blue sports bra style top, silver and white sleeves that cover most of her of her arms with furry white ends, she has on a silvery-white mini-skirt with light-blue belt around it that goes up to her navel and down around one-eighth to one-quarter of her upper legs, and she is wearing silvery-blue high-heeled boots with fox style paws coming out of the toe area with three inch heels.

 

Tomoe has a pair of violet bunny ears coming out of her scalp, a white fluffy bunny tail coming out of her tailbone area, and she is wearing what looks like a violet Playboy ‘bunny suit’ with matching violet bow tie, collar, cuffs, corset top, and everything in-between including violet high-heeled shoes.

 

Akari has a pair of pink bunny ears coming of her scalp, a pink fluffy bunny tail with a pink tip coming out of her tailbone, and she is wearing white collar with a pink bow tie attached around her neck, white and pink bikini top, pink sleeves that cover most of her arms with white furry ends, pink and white hot pants that cover up to the top of her navel and down to one-eighth of her upper legs, and she is wearing pink high-heeled boots with one inch soles and four inch heels with white rabbit feet’s attached to the toe area of her boots.

 

Sinon sighs and Leafa says, “I’m beat.”

 

Asuna asks, “Whoa! What are those? They are adorable!”

 

Taichi yells out, exasperated, “Adorable? Kari, what the heck are you wearing?”

 

Akari says, solemnly, “Big brother, do you think that I have a choice? This isn’t a costume.”

 

Takeru says, with a groan, “This isn’t equipment.”

 

Sinon says, “An enemy got the drop on us.”

 

Minako asks, surprised, “Really?”

 

Dai says, annoyed, “Yeah. One instant that they were dropping down, next we get hit by a ‘bright ‘light’, and finally…BAM! Here we are.”

 

Akari moves her new bunny ears to show that they are in-fact not an accessory or equipment and she says, “See? They are attached to my avatar’s head.”

 

Taichi becomes wide-eyed and he asks, “Well, that leads to my next question: WHAT THE HECK HAPPENED?!”

 

Sinon responds, annoyed, “Didn’t we just explain that?”

 

Leafa says, “I never imagined that they were just distracting us while their friends hit us from above…”

 

Asuna asks, “Wait? So, the bad guys got you?”

 

Usagi says, plainly, “I think that you see the results, Asuna.”

 

Asuna asks, “So, who were they? What did they look like?”

 

Kirito replies, “Honestly, we have no idea. All that we know is that they are strong and fast, they’re master tamers, and they can polymorph their enemies. Multiple fairies at least…”

 

Mamoru asks, “Did you try your healing spells on your…current ‘condition’?”

 

Akari sa ys, with a nod, “Multiple times, but no luck.”

 

Asuna asks, “Doesn’t that sound a little OP?”

 

Arashi says, with a nod, “Yeah, I call hacks!”

 

Leafa says, “Took the words right out of my mouth, N-I mean, Arashi-kun!”

 

Arashi says, with a smile, “Yeah, remember! This is my new ALO avatar, Leafa-chan.” FYI: This ALO player, Arashi, is none other than our hyperactivate unpredictable ninja, Naruto Uzumaki Namikaze.

 

Sinon says, “I agree with Arashi and Leafa. They were so fast that I was only able to glimpse at their wings. And they were, without a doubt, fairy wings. We’re in a Norse-theme game and Norse deities generally use magic or items to fly, but not wings.”

 

Mamoru says, “That means that we are dealing with fairies.”

 

Kirito asks, with a nod, “Yeah, but who in the world were they?”

 

Asuna says, giggling like a little kid, “Still, bad guys or not, you are just TOO KAWAII!!” Asuna goes over to touch Kirito’s new canine ears causing him to leap away.

 

Kirito says, nervously, “H-Hey, back off! No touching!”

 

Asuna says, excitedly, “Fine, no love for you! Come here, Leafa! You, too, Sinonon! I’m going to rub you!” Asuna runs over to Leafa and Sinon and they yelp as she ‘touches’ their new ears.

 

Leafa yells out, with a yelp, “D-Don’t rub my ears like that!”

 

Sinon shouts out, nervously, “Asuna, not there! It’s sensitive!”

 

Michiru goes over to Tomoe, hugs, and she says, exciting, “I have to agree! Firefly’s new look is just so adorable!”

 

Tomoe yells out, nervously, “Michiru-mama!”

 

Minako has grabbed onto Takeru and she says, gently rubbing his new tail, “And Takeru-kun is just so…so adorable! Now, you are really foxy!”

 

Takeru says, with a yelp, “Mina-chan!”

 

Taichi tells Takeru, with a grin, “Be glad that Yamato isn’t here. He would take a picture of this and keep it forever.”

 

Takeru glares at Taichi and he says, with a sinister smirk, “Kari, I won’t mind your boyfriend becoming a guard dog and demonstrating how a guard dog takes down a wiseass crook!” Dai gives his own wide sinister smile causing Taichi to back away a few feet.

 

Just then Sinon hears that familiar ringing of a new friend message and Sinon says, as Asuna continues to rub her scalp, especially her new ears, “Huh? What’s this? And also, Asuna, stop.” When Asuna stops, Sinon activates her screen and looks at the new friend message on her screen.

 

Asuna asks, “Is that a message? From whom?”

 

Sinon says, “It is…Alicia…she says…” Sinon gasps and she shouts out, shocked, “Cait Sith territory is being attacked by fairies no one has ever seen before?!”

 

Everyone else gives looks of shock and Kirito asks, “What?!”

 

Usagi asks, “Do you think…?”

 

Sinon says, “Most likely. Fairies no player has seen before? That’s got to be them.”

 

Dai asks, seriously, “Then what are we waiting for?”

 

Takeru says, with a nod, “Right.”

 

Arashi says, “Whoa! I don’t doubt your abilities and all, believe it, but what about your ‘condition’? If it isn’t a debuff, what is it? We don’t know anything about your current ‘state’ and what it will do to your fighting abilities.”

 

Mamoru says, with a nod, “I have to say that’s a good point.”

 

Minako says, with a smile, “I’m sure that Takeru-kun will be fine, but if anything, I can help my darling foxy Takeru-kun.”

 

Takeru says, with a solemn sigh, “Mina-chan…”

 

Taichi says, with a nod, “Well, we can’t be sure about that. Remember, it could be a ‘condition’ that you need a special item or something to remove.”

 

Kirito says, “Both are good points, but our stats and skills haven’t changed, so, our ability to fight hasn’t been compromised.”

 

Usagi says, “Maybe, Kirito, but we aren’t sure that this ‘condition’ is more than just ‘visual’.”

 

Akari says, a bit nervously, “I think that we got the fact that it is more than ‘visual’, Usagi.” Everyone looks to see Michiru keeping Tomoe in a tight hug and, with an excited look, pets Tomoe’s head and ‘touches’ her new bunny ears much to Tomoe’s displeasure causing plenty of nervous looks to come from the others.

 

Leafa says, “Remind me to respect the Cait Sith more often.”

 

Dai says, with a nod, “Ditto, Leafa.”

 

Takeru asks, nervously, “So, who wants to get Michiru off Tomoe?” As they look on how Michiru is fawning over Tomoe and her ‘new look’, they can’t help to wonder about the answer to that question for…obvious reasons.

 

January 2026, ALO, Cait Sith territory, Freelia

 

Inside of the Cait Sith capital of Freelia, we are inside of the mansion for the leader of the Cait Sith players, namely Alicia, in which, speaking of said Cait Sith leader, she is inside of her office as she hears the door opening.

 

Alicia says, with a smile, “Thank you for coming, Sinon.” However, when Alicia looks at her front door to her office and sees Sinon and the rest of our group, which now includes Asuna, Mamoru, Minako, Michiru, Taichi, and Arashi, who have been ‘changed’, she jumps up in shock and she asks, stunned, “WHOA! Sinon?! What’s with those ears?! What happened to you guys?!”

 

Sinon says, “I’m getting tired of having to explain this every time that I see someone new.”

 

Leafa says, with a sigh, “Yeah, but you can’t blame them.”

 

Akari says, “They don’t know what’s happened until we explain it to them.”

 

Takeru says, “Through you can’t be blamed for all of the staring that we got on the way in.”

 

Kirito tells Alicia, “Okay, here’s what happened…”

 

A short while later, after Kirito is done explaining the situation, Alicia says, “Wow. Tough luck. But it sounds like the ones who got you are the same ones that are attacking our territory. The ridiculously high physical stats, the group tactics, and the big ears that aren’t Cait Sith. It is the same story out there. But you know, the more that I look, the more that I realize that Kirito’s, Leafa’s, and Dai’s ears are similar to theirs.”

 

Sinon asks, “Similar to Kirito’s, Leafa’s, and Dai’s ears? Not mine, Tomoe’s, and Akari’s ears? Or Usagi’s and Takeru’s new ears?”

 

Alicia responds, shaking her head, “Nope. It is definitely dog ears like Kirito’s, Leafa’s, and Dai’s new ears.”

 

Leafa says, “Yeah, I think that Kirito and I are doggie.”

 

Arashi asks, curiously, “So, dog fairies?”

 

Minako shivers involuntary shivers and she says, “Great. Sorry to say that I’m a cat person…though it doesn’t mean that I don’t like puppies.”

 

Kirito thinks in his mind, “Unlike Argo, who would be scared out of her wits about this information.” That thought that gets the ‘wheels’ in Kirito’s mind turning and his mouth starts to turn into a sly smile.

 

Asuna sees this and she asks, “Kirito-kun?”

 

Kirito is snapped out of his thoughts and he tells Asuna, nervously, “N-Nothing!” Asuna gives a slight suspicious look, however, she decides not to say anything for the moment.

 

Usagi says, “Takeru and I have fox ‘qualities’ and Sinon, Tomoe, and Akari have bunny ears.”

 

Sinon asks, “Aren’t bunny ears longer, straighter, and have less floppy like Usagi’s and Tomoe’s ears?”

 

Kirito replies, “Degree of flop depends on the bunny, but right now, I think we should get focused on the enemy invasion right now.”

 

Arashi says, with a nod, “Believe it. We have a group of dog-like fairies on the rampage.”

 

Kirito asks, “Which makes them…what? Dog Sith?”

 

Taichi asks, confused, “Dog Sith?”

 

Takeru says, “Well, we need to call them something. We just can’t refer to them as ‘dog fairies’ or something like that.”

 

Arashi says, with a nod, “Yep. That sounds silly.”

 

Sinon says, “Good point. But right now, we need to focus on their abilities. It seems like they also have the taming ability that Cait Sith have. Maybe all beast type fairies have that kind of affinity.”

 

Alicia responds, “Maybe. But I never heard of ‘beast-type fairies’ before. I thought that we were special.”

 

Leafa says, mumbling to herself, “Dog fairies…dog fairies…”

 

Usagi asks Leafa, “What is it, Leafa?”

 

Leafa replies, “I read something about dog fairies in a book on Irish folklore once. They were called ‘Cu Sith’.”

 

Kirito says, “Cu Sith, huh? It sounds a lot like ‘Cait Sith’ to me, but let’s call them that for now at least.”

 

Mamoru says, “If they are a new addition, it wouldn’t be surprising that they use folklore from other European countries. Remember, while the core is Norse mythology, there are traces of fairytales and folklore from other European countries in ALO.”

 

Sinon says, “Fine, Cu Sith it is.” Sinon then asks, “Now, Alicia, has anyone else other than us been polymorphed by these Cu Sith?”

 

Alicia responds, “No, not that I know of.”

 

Kirito asks, “That’s weird. Why just us?”

 

Leafa says, “I would like to know that too, but I’m more interested in finding a way to turn us back.”

 

Dai says, with a nod, “No kidding, Leafa.”

 

Sinon says, nodding her head, “Agreed. I suggest we find these Cu Sith and have a sit-down chat with them.”

 

Taichi responds, “And by ‘chat’, you mean that we corner them and force them to turn you back?”

 

Sinon retorts, “You know any other way?”

 

Taichi replies, with a sly smile, “Maybe, but I think that I like your way, Sinon.” Dai gives a wide mischievous grin and crack his avatar’s knuckles causing a few of the others to giggle nervously.

 

January 2026, ALO, Yggdrasil City

 

Back in Kirito’s and Asuna’s player home, the group has reassembled to discuss what’s happening.

 

Taichi says, annoyed, “Well, that was a big waste of time.”

 

Arashi says, “No joke! These Cu Sith know how to do a disappearing act!”

 

Minako asks, “Who or what are they?”

 

Asuna retorts, “Maybe they are a new fairy added in the newest update?”

 

Mamoru says, with a nod, “That’s a good theory. There have been many new updates since Svart Alfheim’s grand quest and we finished it several months ago.”

 

Takeru says, “The including Midgard where that circus was from was part of one update.”

 

Kirito says, nodding his head, “Yuuki, Arashi, and I ran into a bunch of fairies a while back. The Dwarves.”

 

Arashi says, with a smile, “Oh, yeah! I remember them! They were cool!”

 

Kirito then states, “So, maybe these is some sort of limited trial period for this new fairy race or something?”

 

Sinon says, “Well, whatever’s going on, we are going to need to talk to them to get rid of these ears.”

 

Arashi says, “I don’t know, Sinon. Something tells me that talking to them won’t work. Based on what you said and what we heard from Alicia-chan, these guys kind of sound like the Inuzuka clan back in the Leaf.”

 

Leafa asks, curiously, “The clan or your friend, Kiba, Arashi-kun?”

 

Sinon tells Arashi, “We already knew that fact, Arashi. And remembering that guy…you have a point.”

 

January 2026, Elemental Countries, Land of Fire, Leaf Village

 

Heading to Arashi’s/Naruto’s ‘home realm’, the Elemental Countries, we are within the Land of Fire, more specifically, the Hidden Leaf Village, Naruto’s former home, we find ourselves in the clan compound of the Inuzuka, the ninja clan of the Leaf that ‘bonds’ with canine partners and have animalistic traits, in which we find one Kiba Inuzuka, younger male child of the clan head, Tsume Inuzuka, with his canine partner, Akamaru, sitting around in which Kiba sneezes causing Akamaru to look at Kiba.

 

Kiba says, “That’s weird.” Kiba says, with a grin, “Maybe a cute girl is talking about me.” Akamaru gives a canine whine that’s more like an annoyed groan and goes back to resting while Kiba goes into his daydreaming.

 

January 2026, ALO, Yggdrasil City

 

Back in ALO and Kirito’s and Asuna’s player home in Yggdrasil City, we return back to our group with Sinon saying, “You are right about how stubborn they will be, but we are going to need to pin them down to make them turn us back.”

 

Asuna says, worriedly, “What?! No! Keep the ears, Sinonon! They are so cute!”

 

Sinon tells Asuna, with a deadpan expression, “Asuna. Look at me. See this expression? It means ‘no’.”

 

Taichi says, pointing to himself with the same expression on his face, “Take a look, Asuna. I have the same expression. I’m not having my sister look like that.”

 

Takeru tells Taichi, annoyed, “You think that the rest of us want to look like this?!”

 

Leafa tells Asuna, “We’ve got a whole bunch of enemies to beat with ridiculous physical stats! Come on, Asuna, help us!”

 

Asuna says, “Of course I will! I can’t just sit on the sidelines while these new fairies bully the Cait Sith!”

 

Tomoe asks, “Why are they doing this?”

 

Michiru says, “Well, cats and dogs don’t get along very well, but I think that it isn’t that simple.”

 

Asuna says, giggling, “This is really exciting! A mysterious new fairy race! I can’t wait!”

 

Usagi tells Asuna, a bit nervously, “I don’t think that it is going to be that simple as you are implying, Asuna.”

 

Sinon says, “You are really a warrior at heart, Asuna. Most people would hesitate to fight enemies this powerful.”

 

Asuna says, “The stronger the enemy, the more the fun!”

 

Takeru says, “It depends on your definition of ‘fun’, Asuna.”

 

Kirito says, “Anyway, it shouldn’t be too surprising that these ‘Cu Sith’ are really strong.”

 

Mamoru asks, “Why is that?”

 

Kirito responds, “New classes or races in games are usually stronger than the ones found at the launch of the game.”

Leafa asks Kirito, “Big brother, are you thinking that while these new fairies are just NPC, they will be usable for us players later on?”

 

Kirito says, with a nod, “There is a decent chance, I say.”

 

Usagi says, “It depends on the developers and RCT executives. There is a ‘balance’ to games, especially RPG games, to make them enjoyable after all.”

 

Taichi says, nodding his head, “No joke.”

 

Sinon says, annoyed, “That would be lame. All the newbies would pick Cu Sith.”

 

Kirito asks, with a nervous smile, “You really don’t like those dog fairies, do you, Sinon?”

 

Asuna retorts, with a nervous smile, “Well, as Michiru said, cats and dogs don’t get along, right?”

 

Minako says, with a plain tone, “Excuse me if I feel the same as Sinon. I may like puppies, but full-grown doggies are another story.”

 

Arashi says, “Well, you have to remember that foxes and dogs don’t get along swimmingly either.”

 

Takeru says, with a nod, “Good point.”

 

Just then there is familiar tone in Leafa’s ears/head, and she says, “Oh, I just got a message!” Leafa then activates her menu screen and looks in her friend message box causing her to gasp at what she sees in there.

 

Usagi asks Leafa, “What’s up, Leafa?”

 

Leafa says, “They found them! They are causing trouble at the Sylph and Cait Sith border!”

 

Dai says, seriously, “Come on, move it!” Immediately, our group heads out to get to the location on the information given to Leafa.

 

January 2026, ALO, Sylph-Cait Sith borderlands

 

Right now, within a forested area in-between the territory of the Sylph and the Cait Sith, we find our group facing off with a group of fairies that, like Kirito, Leafa, and Dai, have dog-like ears and tails.

 

Kirito says, “We’ve finally cornered you!”

 

Asuna says, “So, you are the Cu Sith!”

 

Minako says, amazed, “Alicia-chan was right! They do have ears and tails similar to Kirito, Leafa, and Dai!”

 

Takeru tells Minako, “On guard, Mina-chan! These guys are dangerous!”

 

Leafa asks, sternly, “Why are you attacking Cait Sith territory? What do you hope to gain?”

 

Sinon yells out, strongly, “And where did you mutts come from in the first place? Also, CHANGE US BACK RIGHT NOW!!!”

 

Taichi says, “I would agree to our demands right now or I’ll have my now bunny-eared friend use you as target practice!”

 

Asuna says, nervously, “Everyone? They are NPCs. I don’t think that they can handle all these complex questions.”

 

Sinon says, nervously, “Yeah, I know. Sorry. I’m just really…really…REALLY filled with seething rage about this.”

 

Dai says, plainly, “Don’t blame you.”

 

Tomoe says, with a nervous smile, “Yes, the ‘bunny look’ doesn’t suit you, Sinon.”

 

But then one of the Cu Sith shouts out, “Flank them!” Just then a lot more Cu Sith appear all around are group, much to their shock and surprise.

 

Mamoru says, seriously, “We’re surrounded!”

 

Usagi asks, perplexed, “Where did they come from?”

 

Leafa asks, confused, “And how did they surround us so fast?”

 

Michiru asks Usagi and Kirito, “Did your detection skills sense anything?”

 

Usagi responds, stunned, “Not a thing!”

 

Asuna says, amazed, “They must have amazing stealth skills or some sort of detection avoidance buff!”

 

Minako asks, shocked, “Against Usagi’s and Kirito’s Search skills, which are practically MAXED out?!”

 

Taichi says, stunned, “No freaking way!”

 

Arashi says, annoyed, “Dude, Leafa-chan is right! I call hacks! I’m reporting this to the GM!”

 

Takeru says, nervously, “Later, Arashi! Right now, we are in a bind!”

 

Sinon says, “I know who Arashi feels right now. I hate these guys so much right now. They are too overpowered.” Soon enough, the Cu Sith charge and lashing out what look like long and thick claws coming out of the tips of their fingers much like many predatory animals.

 

Kirito says, “Here they come! They’re attacking!” The others defend themselves as best they could, but they are nearly instantly on the defensive with Usagi and Kirito using two swords to defend themselves.

 

Usagi thinks in her mind, “Such power and speed…!!”

 

Asuna yells out, “Kirito-kun! Usagi-chan! Are you okay?”

 

Kirito, his HP bar going down a bit, responds, “We’re beating back their blows, but we’re still taking damage!”

 

Michiru says, dodging an attack herself, “Look at their hands! They have claws!”

 

Taichi says, stunned, “Geez! Like a wolf or something!”

 

Arashi says, “No joke! They are actually acting like wolves, believe it!”

 

Mamoru says, “Arashi is right. They are using pack hunting tactics.”

 

Takeru says, with a winch, “Yeah! And we are their prey!”

 

Minako asks, nervously, “Uh oh! Don’t wolves like bunnies and foxes?”

 

Usagi yells out, annoyed, “Not helping, Mina-chan!”

 

Akari says, annoyed with a nervous expression, “Seriously!”

 

Leafa says, “I can’t believe it! Their claws weren’t that long to begin with. They must have some kind of ability to lengthen them or something!”

 

Sinon says, “And look at that one’s fangs! They are deadly weapons!”

 

Kirito says, with a winch while receiving ‘splash damage’, “Weapons, claws, and fangs…These guys are just way too powerful!”

 

Mamoru says, “We need to break out of their trap!”

 

Arashi says, “Focus your attacks to one side!”

 

Usagi says, with a nod, “Right!”

 

Kirito says, “Good idea! Let’s go!” Immediately, the group focused on getting out of the ‘trap’ of the surrounding Cu Sith in which they manage to do, though getting some damage in the process, and they turn to face the Cu Sith. After a short while, the Cu Sith retreat in which Alicia flies down to meet them.

 

Alicia asks, “Is everyone still alive?”

 

Minako says, weakly, “Hi, Alicia-chan…”

 

Arashi says, nervously, “Yeah, we’re alive…barely…”

 

Sinon says, with a nod, “Yeah. We’ve got a bunch of wounded down here.”

 

Leafa says, “I’m sorry. I can’t heal everyone fast enough!”

 

Alicia asks, “You have got Asuna, Akari, and Usagi, who are Undines, so, why…?”

 

Usagi says, weakly, “We’re worn out. We’ve been using our healing magics throughout the whole battle and we need to recover our MP.”

 

Akari says, with a weak nod, “Yeah…”

 

Alicia says, “No worries! It looks like our side is doing pretty well.”

 

Arashi asks, curiously, “How is this ‘pretty well’?”

 

Dai says, with a nod, “No kidding! We just had our butts kicked big time!”

 

Alicia says, “You should see the other places that these guys attacked and the other players that fought them.”

 

Takeru says, nervously, “I get the feeling that we are FAR better off than those other players.”

 

Kirito says, “I’m not surprised. The Cu Sith have been using monsters to help them fight as well. It shouldn’t be surprising that things would be bad.”

 

Mamoru says, with a nod of his head, “One of the main reasons that we didn’t end up like the other players was we were facing only the Cu Sith and not their ‘additional forces’.”

 

Dai says, drolly, “That’s encouraging.”

Leafa says, “So, they can tame animals and monsters…”

 

Takeru says, with a nod, “What a pain.”

 

Taichi says, “I know that we don’t feel any pain due to the pain absorbers, but…”

 

Dai says, with a nod, “I hear you.”

 

Alicia asks, “Geez, these guys are just too much. But seriously, what are they after?”

 

Asuna responds, “Maybe they are trying to conquer Cait Sith territory or change the balance of power?”

 

Usagi says, with a shrug, “I don’t know, Asuna…”

 

Takeru says, “They are clever, that’s for sure, but I don’t think that they think THAT far ahead. They aren’t stupid, but not far thinking type.”

 

Kirito says, “I agree with you, Takeru. They just kind of caused a ruckus and then wandered off.”

 

Leafa says, “They are wild dogs. They probably finished their hunt and decided to go home.”

 

Arashi says, “Wild dogs, Leafa-chan? Make that wolves. Wolves hunt in packs and they are dangerous. The claw and bite marks on us should be a good example.”

Takeru says, with a nod, “Agreed, Arashi. Never underestimate a wolf pack.”

 

Alicia says, “Well, thank you for helping us out. Head back to the safe zone and take a rest. I’ll come meet you in a bit. I want to meet up to talk future strategy.”

 

Usagi says, with a nod, “Good idea. Even if we got back our HP and MP, we are exhausted.”

Akari says, nodding her head, “No joke.”

 

Alicia says, “I’ll see you later everyone. Stay safe.”

 

Sinon says, “You, too, Alicia.” Alicia extends her wings and takes flight where a large group of the Cait Sith’s elite Dragoon, dragon rider players, are waiting for her up in the sky showing that they have been there the whole thing. A few of the Dragoons wave at our group before heading off with Alicia.

 

Michiru asks Tomoe, “Are you okay, Firefly?”

 

Tomoe says, with a nod, “I’m okay, Michiru-mama. I’m just worn out.”

 

Michiru says, “Don’t blame you for feeling that way, Firefly.”

 

Kirito says, “Come on, everyone. Let’s regroup at the Cait Sith capital and recover as well as figure out a new plan for dealing with these Cu Sith.”

 

Asuna says, “Good idea, Kirito-kun.” Soon enough, our group manages to take to the air and fly off towards the capital of Cait Sith territory to recover and regroup to figure out a new plan in their fight against their new opponents, the mysterious Cu Sith.

 

January 2026, ALO, Cait Sith territory, Freelia

 

Inside of the leader’s mansion with Freelia, the central city for the Cait Sith players, our group, who has recovered from their last battle with the Cu Sith, are trying to figure out a new plan with Kirito really deep in thought.

 

Noticing this, Asuna asks, curiously, “What is it, Kirito-kun?”

 

Kirito replies, “I was just thinking about those Cu Sith…”

 

Mamoru says, “One can’t blame you for that.”

 

Arashi says, “Yeah! We don’t know anything about them, and they are putting us in the doghouse!”

 

Dai asks, annoyed, “Seriously, dude?”

 

Kirito says, “The only NPC-exclusive fairies races that we have encountered are the Alfs and the Dwarfs.”

 

Leafa says, “I was surprised to find out that they brought back the Alfs since…you know…”

 

Michiru tells Kirito, “It could be possible that your earlier theory was right, and this is some kind of event quest to introduce them.”

 

Kirito nods his head and Asuna says, “Maybe, but you have to remember that Alfs were just a fairy tale. They didn’t bring them back completely.”

 

Minako says, “Probably for obvious reasons.”

 

Michiru says, “Asuna has a good point. Adding a new race to ALO isn’t going to be easy.”

 

Usagi says, “Yeah, if they did. Where is the big announcement and update? You know that they would inform the players of something like this. It is the same thing that they did with Svart Alfheim and Midgard.”

 

Akari says, with a nod, “Yeah, you’re right.”

 

Dai asks, “Then what’s the story with these guys?”

 

Tomoe asks, “Could this be an automatic quest generated by Cardinal?”

 

Taichi says, adding to Tomoe’s question, “Yeah! Remember that quest that Kirito his legendary weapon? It hasn’t been a month since we went to Jotunheimr and went on that quest to get Excalibur that turned into more than just a quest to get a legendary rare weapon.”

 

Michiru says, with a nod, “It was a real shocker to find out.”

 

Mamoru says, “Though it wasn’t too surprising since we learned about the Cardinal system.” Mamoru asks Kirito, “But didn’t Yui say that after that quest that RCT is keeping a closer eye on ALO’s Cardinal system?”

 

Kirito says, with a nod, “That’s right, Mamoru. After they learned what happened, RCT is keeping a closer eye on ALO’s Cardinal system. They don’t want to have a close call like that again.”

Just then Leafa yells out, confused, “Huh? What the heck?!”

 

Everyone looks at Leafa, who is with Sinon, and Arashi asks, “What’s wrong, Leafa-chan?”

Leafa says, “Sinon and I may have figured out something. You and the others that have changed need to check your stats pronto.”

 

Dai asks, confused, “Huh?”

 

Kirito says, confused, “Okay, sure…” Soon after, Kirito, Usagi, Tomoe, Dai, Akari, and Takeru then open their menus and take a look at their stats causing them to gain stunned and perplexed looks on their faces.

 

Usagi asks, confused, “Huh?”

 

Takeru asks, confused, “What’s this?!”

 

Minako asks, curiously, “What’s wrong, Takeru-kun?”

 

Sinon says, “It looks like you got them too.”

 

Minako asks, confused, “Got what?”

 

Usagi responds, “Some strange new special skills!”

 

Leafa says, with a nod, “Yeah! Fang attack! Claw attack!”

 

Dai says, stunned, “No joke! Same here!”

Leafa says, with a smile, “From the names of those attacks, they have to be the same attacks that those Cu Sith have!”

 

Kirito says, “It looks that way, yeah. But we didn’t have these skills when we first transformed.”

 

Mamoru says, “That means that there was only one way that you could have gotten them.”

 

Sinon says, “I don’t have any new attacks, but I’ve gotten some new abilities to hide in bushes and shadows.”

 

Akari says, with a nod, “Same here. I’ve got a speed boost too.”

 

Tomoe says, nodding her head, “Me too.”

 

Usagi says, “Not me. I’ve gained a fang attack, speed boost, and night vision.”

 

Takeru says, amazed, “Me too!”

 

Sinon gives a look of annoyance in her eyes and she says, in a plain tone, “It looks like you get different abilities based on the animal that you have been transformed into.”

 

Asuna says, “If you didn’t have these right away, you must have gained them by fighting and gaining experience.”

 

Mamoru says, nodding his head, “That’s the only conclusion that I can think of, Asuna.”

 

Kirito says, excitedly, “I’m more focused that I have badass beast skills right now.”

 

Dai says, with a grin, “No kidding!”

 

Usagi says, with a sigh, “We need to focus on the situation and what it means for these ‘Cu Sith’, Kirito.”

 

Leafa says, with a smile, “Sorry, Usagi. It was a real pain when they had them and used them against, but now, we can return the favor!”

 

Takeru says, with a sly grin, “You know it!”

 

Kirito says, “Let’s go try them out! Maybe we’re Cu Sith right now!”

Leafa says, with a grin, “I can’t wait to get my claws on them!”

 

Dai says, with a nod and sly smile, “No joke!”

 

Usagi yells out, “Hold on!” When everyone looks at Usagi, she asks, “If you have the same abilities as those ‘Cu Sith’, couldn’t it be possible that they aren’t a new fairy type at all, but polymorphed fairies?”

 

That strikes a ‘chord’ in our group and Asuna says, “Wait! That’s a good idea, Usagi-chan.”

 

Mamoru says, with a nod, “Yes.”

 

Kirito then yells out, “Actually, I think that Usagi is right on the money!” When everyone looks at Kirito, he says, “That makes much sense! In ALO, most transformation magic is just illusion magic, right?”

 

Mamoru says, nodding his head, “That’s right, Kirito. Spriggans, like you and I, and Imp are experts in that kind of magic.”

 

Kirito says, with a nod, “That’s right. And usually, it doesn’t change your stats or anything, but what if there is a polymorph magic that does?”

 

Usagi asks, surprised, “A polymorphic magic that actually causes ‘true changes’ to your avatars and its stats?”

 

Kirito responds, nodding his head, “That’s right. I think that gets to the heart of Sinon’s brilliant stroke of insight right now.”

Leafa says, “Illusion magic. I remember that time that you used it to turn into that big scary demon against that group of Salamanders that were hunting us.”

 

Minako says, nervously, “I don’t think that any one of us can forget that, Leafa-chan.”

 

Kirito says, with a smile, “Yeah, it was fun. Still, whatever it looked like to all of us, it was just an illusion. But if this is magic that changes your character, then it all makes sense.”

 

Arashi says, plainly, “You lost me.”

 

Minako says, with a nod, “Ditto.”

 

Kirito tells Sinon, “Sinon, there is something that I need for you to get.”

 

Sinon says, “I already know what you are getting at and I’m on my way.” Sinon tells Minako, “Minako, I need for you to come with me.”

 

Minako asks, confused, “What? Why?”

 

Sinon says, “This is a Cait Sith specific item.” This statement causes Minako to gain a curious look.

 

Kirito tells Mamoru, “Mamoru, I’m going to need your help.”

 

Mamoru asks, curiously, “With what?”

 

Kirito says, “Learning a certain spell and this will only work with Imp or Spriggan players like us.” Mamoru gains his own curious look while the others, minus Sinon, can’t help to wonder what Kirito is planning.

 

January 2026, ALO, Cait Sith-Pooka borderlands

 

Back in the Cait Sith-Pooka borderlands, Leafa, Asuna, Usagi, Tomoe, Michiru, Arashi, Dai, Akari, Taichi, and Takeru are joined by a group of Cait Sith forces against the Cu Sith.

 

Asuna says, “We’ve found them!”

 

Leafa says, “We won’t lose this time! Why, you ask? We’ve got your powers, that’s why!” The Cu Sith give looks of surprise and Leafa says, “You are going to pay for doing this time me, fairy doggies! Take this!” Leafa then uses similar abilities that the Cu Sith have been using on them to strike!

 

Asuna says, excitedly, “Nice one, Leafa!”

 

Arashi says, excitedly, “Oh, yeah! How did you like that one? Not so easy when you facing opponents with similar overpowered abilities, huh? It’s payback time!”

 

Leafa says, with a grin, “Thanks! A sword in one, claws with the other, and fangs! It feels like I’m a triple sword wielder!”

 

Arashi asks, curiously, “Have you been watching that anime, One Piece, Leafa?”

 

Dai asks Arashi, “You watch anime?”

 

Taichi tells Dai, with a curious glance, “Seriously?”

 

Takeru tells Dai and Taichi, “Not the time!”

 

Dai says, with a nod, “Yeah, right!” Dai uses similar tactics to Leafa with Usagi and Takeru uses quick ‘stealth strikes’ by striking from the shadows and quickly returning them to cause mass chaos and confusion on the Cu Sith.

 

Taichi says, excitedly, “Oh, yeah!”

 

Michiru says, with a smile, “Excellent work!” Akari and Tomoe are using incredible agility to constantly and easily dodge strikes from the Cu Sith.

 

Akari says, “With this speed and agility bonus, dodging attacks is really easily.”

 

Tomoe says, “It was too bad that we had to gain experience before we got these boosts.”

 

Asuna says, “Looking good, everyone! I wish that I could get transformed into a cute animal and get cool abilities too!”

 

Dai asks, shocked, “Seriously, Asuna?!”

 

Leafa says, with a nod, “Listen to Dai, Asuna! It isn’t! Trust me! It isn’t as awesome as it looks! It is just mostly as awesome!”

Arashi says, “From what I see, it seems like Leafa-chan and the others have plenty of the weaknesses that the Cait Sith useless possess.”

 

Asuna says, with a shrug, “You get to look cute and get a power buff. Seems like a good deal to me.”

 

Akari says, “Not all of us got the offensive buffs that Leafa, Usagi, Dai, and Takeru got!”

 

Michiru says, with a smile, “Well, I believe that yours and Firefly’s changes are wonderful!”

 

Tomoe says, exasperated, “Michiru-mama…”

 

One of the Cu Sith, a leader of the group, yells out, “These people are trouble…Retreat!”

As the Cu Sith start to run away, Asuna shouts out, “They are running away!”

 

Dai says, seriously, “Not so fast!”

 

Taichi says, strongly, “Get back here!” Everyone tries to pursue them, but then a group of familiar animals attacks the group.

 

Tomoe says, worriedly, “Look out!”

 

Arashi says, worriedly, “Uh oh!”

 

Takeru says, “Uh oh is right! Those aren’t any ordinary animals! They are the circus animals!”

 

Asuna says, annoyed, “That’s so mean! They are using them as animal shields while they run away!”

 

Taichi tells Asuna, “What do you expect from cowards Asuna? A fair fight?”

 

Tomoe says, “Oh no, they are going to get away.”

 

Usagi says, “But we can’t just hurt these animals. They’re innocent!”

Leafa says, “We know, Usagi. We’re stuck.”

 

Asuna says, “We need to return them to the circus safe and sound.” Under the control of the Cu Sith’s taming ability, the controlled circus animals prepare to attack the group with one of the lions giving a loud roar.

 

Dai says, nervously, “Damn! They are about to attack!”

 

Just then Minako’s voice booms out, “Not so fast! Now, Sinon!” Just then a massive amount of a strange powder comes down from the sky onto the animals.

 

Takeru says, “That’s Minako’s voice!”

 

Leafa asks, confused, “What’s all that powder dropping down on the animals?”

 

Minako and Sinon fly down by the group and Minako says, with a grin, “A very special item!”

 

Sinon says, “Sorry for the late entrance.”

 

Asuna asks, curiously, “Sinonon! What did you and Minako-chan just do?”

 

Sinon says, “We just used a rare Cait Sith item, the ‘Powder of Light’s Awakening’.”

 

Minako says, with a grin, “It removes all taming effects. Or should I say, it removes all taming effects used by Cait Sith.”

 

Leafa says, “Wow. I never knew that item existed. How convenient.”

 

Akari asks, curiously, “Wait! You said that it removes taming effects used by Cait Sith, right?”

 

Minako says, with a wide grin, “Bingo, girlfriend! Just watch!” Soon after, the animals and monsters start to calm down, stop their attacks, and gain confused looks.

 

Asuna says, excitedly, “The monsters and animals have calmed down!”

 

Tomoe says, with a smile, “It worked!”

 

Minako says, slyly, “Well, what did you know? It did!”

 

Takeru asks Minako, realizing something, “You know what the heck is going on, don’t you?”

 

Minako says, with a grin, “The instant that I knew what Sinon wanted to get, I got the gist of the theory that she and Kirito thought up.”

 

Sinon says, “However, it isn’t an item that you don’t use every day. It took Minako and I quite a while to gather the materials and mix it up.”

 

Minako says, with a nod, “You got that right, girlfriend. However, the results speak for themselves.”

 

Taichi asks, curiously, “Hold up! If this items works on the taming skill used on Cait Sith, it means…?”

 

Minako says, with a nod, “Now, you are getting it, Taichi. What we need now is Kirito and Mamoru to come back with that spell to complete the puzzle and end this ‘mystery’ once and for all!”

 

Dai says, “We’re going to need to catch these ‘Cu Sith’ first! Let’s move out!”

 

Minako says, “You heard him! Move it people!” After getting the assisting Cait Sith soldiers to round up the circus animals, Leafa, Asuna, Usagi, Tomoe, Michiru, Arashi, Dai, Akari, Taichi, and Takeru, joined by Sinon and Minako, head off after the Cu Sith. However, soon enough, they find more and more monsters in their way.

 

Leafa says, “Oh, great! More monster!”

 

Asuna asks, “Sinonon, do you and Minako have more of that powder?”

 

Sinon says, “We’re out. What is this? The tenth batch of tamed monsters so far? This is getting annoying.”

 

Arashi says, “At least they are monsters and not monsters. Let’s rock and roll!”

 

Dai says, “You know it! I need something to pound on!” Our group cuts down the mass of monsters, but they face more of them.

 

Takeru says, “Oh, man!”

 

Asuna asks, “Have you heard anything from Kirito-kun?”

 

Usagi says, shaking her head, “Not a thing, yet, Asuna.”

 

Sinon sighs and she says, “I really wish that he showed up by now…”

 

One of the Cu Sith shout out, “Go, my beasties! Crunch their bones and scratch out their eyes!”

 

Takeru asks, with a bit of disgust, “Dramatic much?”

 

Kirito’s voice then booms out, “Wrong!” Soon after, Kirito and Mamoru fly onto the scene.

 

Usagi says, excitedly, “Kirito! Mamoru-kun!”

 

Mamoru says, “Sorry that we are so late. It took us a while to complete the quest to learn the new spell…especially for Kirito.”

 

Dai says, with a grin, “Yeah, spells and Kirito don’t go together too well.”

 

Takeru tells Dai, while looking at Dai and Usagi, “You shouldn’t be talking.”

 

Dai glares at Takeru and Sinon asks, “You found the spell that we needed?”

 

Kirito says, “ALO doesn’t have much in the way of dispel magic, but we found just the thing that we need. It is extremely specific, but it will allow you to dispel polymorphic magic and return someone to normal.”

 

Mamoru says, “This spell was added recently, so, it is most likely that it was made for this event.”

 

Minako retorts, “Well, what are you waiting for? Use and see if that theory that you and Sinon formed is right!”

 

Kirito says, with a nod, “You got it! Let’s get to the bottom of this ‘Cu Sith’ mystery!”

 

Usagi says, “Do it, Kirito!”

 

Kirito yells out, “Show us your true forms, ‘Cu Sith’!” Kirito then uses a new spell and the ‘Cu Sith’ then transform into a group of Cait Sith.

 

The Cait Sith asks, “Huh? What’s going on?”

 

Dai says, with a grin, “Busted!”

 

Kirito says, “I knew it. There weren’t any dog fairies to begin with.”

 

Taichi says, “They were really polymorphed Cait Sith all along!”

 

Kirito says, with a nod, “That’s right. Polymorphed by a high-level spell. It is an impressive spell, but it is too bad that it was used for evil.”

Sinon says, “Still, we should have figured that out sooner. Fairies taming in Cait Sith territory equal Cait Sith.”

 

Minako says, with a nod, “Yeah, it should have been obvious since we have been fighting in Cait Sith territory only too.”

 

Usagi says, “Now, that the deception has been exposed. It is time to use their tricks against them.”

 

Dai says, with a grin, “Since they lost their ‘power up’ and we still have the ones that they gave us, it is time to show them what kind of big mistake that they made messing with us!”

 

Arashi says, with a nod, “You got that right!”

 

Taichi says, “Time for a test of your own medicine!”

 

The exposed ‘Cu Sith’ shout out, “Oh, yeah! Go, beasties! Eat them up!”

 

Plenty of tamed monsters come up to face our group and Takeru says, “Don’t let your guard down! It looks like they have plenty of tamed monsters to throw at us!”

 

Kirito says, with a nod, “Yeah. Come on, everyone, it is time to fight!”

 

Leafa says, with a nod, “Right, big brother!”

 

Arashi says, “Get ready for a major butt kicking!”

 

Taichi says, strongly, “Big time!” Soon enough, the group heads into battle against the ‘Cu Sith’, the polymorphed Cait Sith, and their tamed monsters.

 

January 2026, ALO, Cait Sith territory, Freelia

 

Back within Alicia’s mansion as leader of the Cait Sith, said Cait Sith leader is talking with the others about what happened.

 

Alicia says, “Huh? So, that’s what the deal was. Those ‘Cu Sith’ were actually polymorphed Cait Sith bandits.”

 

Sinon says, with a nod, “Yep.”

 

Asuna says, with a sigh, “But, in the end, they got away from us…”

 

Arashi says, “They would make pretty good shinobi.”

 

Leafa tells Arashi, “Don’t start praising them, Arashi-kun.”

 

Taichi says, with a nod, “They will be back to start causing trouble soon enough.”

 

Dai says, nodding his head, “No joke. And then you won’t be praising them.”

 

Michiru says, “Even so, they were tough…though they weren’t the ‘real deal’.”

 

Kirito says, with a nod, “No kidding. I’m sure that if we have to fight the real thing, it would be grueling.”

 

Asuna says, “This was a temporary trial to test the concept of the Cu Sith, in the form of a new polymorphic spell, but the developers might add them for real someday. That could really shake up ALO for sure.”

 

Arashi says, with a nod, “I’ll bet Asuna.”

 

Sinon says, with a groan, “Oh, great. More dog fairies. Not looking forward to that.”

 

Minako says, with a nod, “Same here.”

 

Arashi asks, confused, “How can one like puppies and not be a dog person?”

 

Minako says, with a pout, “It’s complicated.” Quite a number of the others can’t help to give nervous giggles at Minako’s comment.

 

Sinon asks, “Anyway, Kirito, can you use that new magic to turn us back to normal? Please?” Sinon says, annoyed, “I’m sick of these ears.”

 

Taichi tells Kirito, “I would like my sister not to look like an American Playboy Bunny if you please.”

 

Kirito then states, “No problem. Through I wonder: Why were the only ones to get polymorphed in the first place?”

 

Mamoru says, “That’s a good question.”

 

Usagi asks, with a nod of her head, “Yeah, it is. Why was it only us and no one else?”

 

Takeru says, “No joke. Because they were polymorphed themselves, they should have known it could have given us abilities to rival theirs.”

 

Leafa says, with a shrug, “Beats me. Maybe they were trying to freak us out.”

 

Kirito says, “Well, it did shock us, and they got away while we were confused…”

 

Dai says, “But in the end, it did come back to bite them in the butt.”

 

Sinon says, “Seriously, stop talking and change me back.”

 

Asuna says, “No! Don’t do it! You have to stay the way that you are! You’re WAY cuter this way!”

 

Sinon protests, annoyed, “No! Just no!”

 

Asuna says, “Come on! Do it for me! Besides, it is not only cute, but really powerful!”

 

Usagi asks Asuna, “Asuna, is this some kind of revenge for that time you got hit with the de-aging debuff?”

 

Asuna says, with a blush, “No! No! No! It isn’t anything like that! Let’s forget that! This is different! This isn’t a debuff! This is…!!”

 

Sinon says, sternly, “I said no! No! My bunny abilities are terrible!”

 

Akari says, plainly, “Can’t say that I’m a fan of them despite them being really helpful in ground battle. Increase speed, agility, dexterity, and jumping ability really works when you don’t have time to switch from ground to air combat.”

 

Michiru says, with a smile, “Well, I can’t say that I wouldn’t mind Firefly staying like that a bit longer.”

 

Nearly face-faulting, Tomoe says, nervously, “Michiru-mama…”

 

Kirito asks, nervously, “So am I changing us back or what?”

 

Sinon says, sternly while glaring at Kirito the same way, “Do it, Kirito!”

 

Asuna yells out, also looking at Kirito sternly, “Don’t do it, Kirito-kun!”

 

Plenty of the others get nervous looks and Arashi whispers to Leafa, “Talk about being ‘between a rock and hard place’, believe it.”

 

Leafa giggles nervously and Takeru whispers to Akari and Dai, “Oh, boy.”

 

Dai and Akari nod their heads in agreement with Takeru while Leafa says, a bit nervously, “Change us back later! Right now, we need to get to the animals back to the circus!”

 

Asuna says, “Oh, yeah! Perfect excuse! Let’s do that! Come on, Kirito-kun!” Kirito yelps out as Asuna drags him away with Sinon running after them.

 

Sinon yells out, strongly, “ASUNA! WE’RE NOT DONE HERE!!!”

 

After Asuna, dragging Kirito, and Sinon leave out of the room, Taichi says, nervously, “My condolences to Kirito.”

 

Takeru says, with a nod of his head, “You said it.”

 

Arashi tells Leafa, with a kind smile, “Nice try, Leafa-chan.”

 

Usagi asks Mamoru, “Mamoru-kun…?”

 

Mamoru says, with a kind smile, “I’m on my way back to Spriggan territory, Meatball Head. I should have learned the magic with Kirito, but we were in a hurry.”

 

Taichi tells Mamoru, “It was understandable, Mamoru. Now, with this crises over, take the time that you need.”

 

Michiru says, hugging Tomoe lovingly, “Yes, please do.” Tomoe whimpers under Michiru’s hug causing plenty of the others to giggle at this site in which plenty of the Cait Sith players in the city focus on Kirito, Asuna, and Sinon as Asuna drags Kirito along while Sinon is still shouting at them.

And that’s the end of this one-shot! I have to say that this one was really enjoyable to make as it was really funny in all sorts of ways. You may be asking: Hold on! Why did you make Serena/Usagi a fox instead of a rabbit since her name means ‘rabbit’? Well, the answer is: For one thing, it would be TOO obvious a trope and that’s my opinion though you may not feel that way. And two, if this was the CANON Sailor Moon, I would see her becoming a bunny, but in this ‘fanfiction universe’, Serena/Usagi has ‘grown’ and she has become quite the warrior, so, in a way, this reflects that, however, her and ‘doggie ears’ don’t fit at all, if you know what I mean. Also, I know that I might have overdoing it on the tropes, but can you really blame me? Anyway, expect plenty more fun and exciting stories to come from this ‘fanfiction universe’.
