You may know this story and the stories that come after it, but do you know all the stories? All the tales that happened within the floating castle? What about the tales that happened after the floating castle was conquered? There are stories connected to the ‘tale’ of this floating castle, its ‘history’, and its ‘aftermath’, but they weren’t told…until now. These are those stories…

Story 33: Living in the Shadow of Disaster

Note: This story takes place after Story 10: A Faded Miraculous Light.

Early March 2023, Tokyo, Japan, Odaiba District

Today, we find ourselves within Odaiba Park where we find Sora Takenouchi, Mimi Tachikawa, Joe Kido, Izzy Izumi, Cody Hida, and their Digimon partners, Biyomon, Palmon, Gomamon, Tentomon, and Armadillomon, assembled together in the middle of the park with plenty of them having worried looks on their faces.

Sora asks Izzy, “Any luck, Izzy?”

Izzy replies, shaking his head, “Nothing at all.”

Joe asks Izzy, “How is that possible Izzy?”

Izzy tells Joe, “That’s a good question.”

Biyomon says, concerned, “I’m really worried.”
Sora says, with a nod, “We’re all worried, Biyomon.”

Mimi says, “It isn’t like them.”

Cody says, “Yes, you are right, Mimi. However, they have just suffered an incredible mental shock.”

Sora says, irritated, “Damn it! We thought that they were getting better!”

Joe says, “They were getting better, Sora. However, the attack on them cause all of their trauma to come back to them reversing all of the progress that we made.”

Palmon says, “Well, that jerk got booted out of the school!”

Cody says, “The principal is very understanding of what happened to Davis and Kari since he had encounters with yakuza.”

Mimi says, “That still amazes me every time that I hear it.”

Joe says, nodding his head, “No kidding.”

Tentomon asks, “But how could their digivices not be detected?”

Izzy says, “That’s a good question. Hopefully, it isn’t one of the worst case scenarios.”

Mimi asks, nervously, “Worst case scenarios?”

Izzy replies, nervously, “I don’t want to think about THAT idea, Mimi.”

Cody says, with a nod, “Agreed, Izzy. We CAN’T even being to think like that.”

Armadillomon says, “Davis and Kari are stronger than that.”

The others nod their heads in agreement, but Joe then says, “While I don’t doubt that, it doesn’t mean that we shouldn’t worry about them. They suffered a horrific shock those years ago. Despite the fact that the guns might have gone off without them pulling the triggers, they were traumatized by what happened.”

Gomamon says, “Well, they were going to kill everyone there. You said that the police said that whole robbery thing was an attempt to turn that place into a drug base.”

Mimi says, “I was shocked that they found out about that.”

Izzy says, “They found evidence on their bodies that allow them to find out about the plot in general. They weren’t too top level yakuza and the yakuza made sure that group took the fall.”

Cody says, “It isn’t surprising. My father had a lot of complaints about their ability to cover up where they only get the lower-levels and not get the upper tier members.”

Joe says, “I think that we are getting ‘off-course’ here.”

Biyomon says, “We need to figure out a way to find Davis and Kari!”

Izzy says, with a sigh, “If they want to be found…”

Mimi asks Izzy, “What do you mean Izzy?”

Cody says, “Their parents said that they ran off and the evidence shows that they have done so.”

Palmon asks, “But why would they run away?”

Cody says, “The two of them suffered a relapse of a horrible experience and now, they are being ‘taken away’ from all that they love and care about.”

Mimi says, “But Davis isn’t the kind of guy to run from any problems…”

Joe says, “While that’s true, he isn’t like the Davis around the time that we defeated MaloMyotismon and Armageddemon.”

Cody says, “Maybe, Joe, but I think that Mimi has a point. Even in his condition, Davis isn’t one to run from his problems. However, I believe that Kari could be a factor.”

Sora asks Cody, “What do you mean?”

Cody says, “Kari is in a fragile state and while all of us are her friends, people like Davis, Tai, and TK, proved to be her ‘rock’. Now, Tai and TK are trapped in SAO and all she has left is Davis.”

Joe says, with a nod, “You have a point, Cody. All of us are Kari’s friends, but Davis, Tai, and TK have been the closest to her. With Tai and TK stuck in SAO, she only has Davis left.”

Izzy says, “And now, this ‘threatens’ to take her away from him.”

Tentomon asks, curiously, “So, you think that Kari convinced Davis to leave?”

Cody says, with a nod, “I believe that it is the most likely. I think that Davis would have wanted to stay and try to ‘stick it out’ to get them not to send them away, but Kari was so afraid of losing her ‘rocks’ in her current fragile condition convinced Davis to run away with her to keep her only rock by her side.”

Joe says, with a sigh, “And despite Davis usual strength, he was suffering as much as Kari is and he really cares about Kari, so…”
Cody responds, with a nod, “Most likely, Davis agreed to what Kari wanted.”

Izzy says, “Davis is a tough person. That’s a fact. He is the reason that we won against MaloMyotismon.”

Cody says, with a nod of his head, “If it wasn’t for him, we would have been trapped in MaloMyotismon’s illusions for who knows how long.” Cody says, “His strength wouldn’t be in question if what happened didn’t happen. He suffered a very traumatic effect with Kari and while he isn’t as fragile as Kari, his ‘outbursts’ are…harsh to say the least.”

Palmon says, annoyed, “Personally, that jerk deserved what he got.”

Mimi says, “I’m not saying that you are wrong, Palmon, but it was brutal.”

Joe says, “Like it or not, people ‘express’ their trauma in different ways, Mimi.”
Palmon says, with a snarl that’s unlike her, “Well, I’m not sorry that jerk gotten beaten so bad.”

Biyomon says, with a nod, “I agree with you, Palmon.”

Sora says, “Right now, our main worry should be Davis and Kari.”

Izzy says, with a nod, “Agreed. I can’t be certain, but I’m sure that they found a way to block my ability to track their digivices.”

Joe asks Izzy, surprised, “But how?”

Cody says, “With all of the new Digidestined along with these ‘Tamers’, which is what they call themselves, it shouldn’t be surprising that there are ones that quite intelligent.”

Izzy says, with a nod, “I actually know quite a few of them that have intelligence and technique expertise that rivals if not exceeds my own.”
Mimi asks, surprised, “Really?”

Tentomon says, “Izzy, you must be modest.”

Izzy says, with a sigh, “In this case, I wish that I was, Tentomon. But there are quite a few of the new Digidestined that can rival my abilities very well.”

Cody says, plainly, “That means that we may not be able to find them unless they want us to find them.”

Izzy says, with a nod and sigh, “Yeah…”

Mimi says, worriedly, “I hope that they will be okay.”

Palmon says, with a smile, “I’m sure that they are. They have each other.”

Biyomon says, with a nod, “That’s good.”

Sora says, with a sigh and worried tone, “I hope that it is enough…”

Early March 2023, Japan, Unknown location

Somewhere that’s some distance away from Tokyo, we find ourselves looking at none other than Hikari ‘Kari’ Kamiya while in a deep sleep, but she is sweating and moaning in her sleep showing MAJOR discomfort.

Kari moans out, weakly, “No…please no…don’t leave me…don’t leave me…” Kari then gasps as she wakes up in a cold sweat and she starts to look around, but she feels a pair of hands on her shoulders in which she whips her head to see Daisuke ‘Davis’ Motomiya looking at her.

Davis tells Kari, concerned, “Hey, Kari, are you okay?” However, Kari doesn’t answer him and unexpectedly, Kari then embraces Davis and kisses him right on the lips causing Davis to widen his eyes in surprise. Davis then sees that Kari’s face is wet due to the shed of tears and a lot of them in which Davis embraces Kari as well as gently stroke her hair. When Kari breaks off the kiss, she looks at Davis causing him to ask, with his classic cheeky smile, “Nice way to wake up. Feel better?” After blinking her eyes three times, she then madly blushes as she realizes what she did causing her to gasp.

Kari yanks herself out of Davis’ grip causing her to mutter out, nervously and with an embarrassed expression, “I…No…I’m sorry…I’m sorry, Davis…I didn’t mean…!!”

Davis says, nervously smile, “Not to sound like a freak, but I really didn’t mind that.” Kari gives a nervous blush and Davis then asks, concerned, “However, you must have had a bad dream, didn’t you?”

Kari says, with a solemn tone and nod, “Yes.” Davis then hugs her causing her to yelp in surprise.

Davis tells Kari, in a comforting tone, “I’m here, Kari-chan. I’m not going anywhere.” Kari is surprised at first, but she then can’t help to embrace Davis and nod her head with a weak smile on her lips as she nuzzles against his cheek. On the meanwhile, Veemon and Gatomon are nearby in which they are looking at each other with a mixture of feelings at that moment.

Late March 2023, Japan, Unknown location

Today, we find Davis and Kari looking at a group of young preteen kids with a mixture of in-training and rookie level Digimon playing various game all over a large courtyard.
Kari says, with a smile, “It looks like they are having a good time.”

Davis says, with a grin, “Yeah. This is awesome.”

Just then a familiar male voice says, “It is.” Davis and Kari look to see Luke and his Digimon partner, Datamon, walking over to them.

Kari tells Luke, “It is really great to see what you are doing, Luke-san.”

Davis says, with a nod, “No joke.”

Luke says, “Well, with the growing numbers of Digidestined and Tamers, it isn’t surprising that a good number of us are ones without anyone else to turn to.”

Kari asks Luke, “Tamers?”

Luke tells Kari, “Yes, not all of the new Digidestined call themselves ‘Digidestined’. Plenty of them are calling themselves ‘Digimon Tamers’.”

Davis says, “Yeah, I’ve heard about that.”

Luke says, with a nod, “Those that call themselves ‘Tamers’ have a different type of digivice than the ones that we use.”

Kari asks, curiously, “Different?”

Datamon says, “Unlike the models that most Digidestined use, this model seems to come with the ability to store the Digimon partners within the digivice.”

Davis asks, amazed, “Seriously?”

Luke says, with a nod, “That’s right. We have a few digivices of that type with us and we were able to examine it.”

Datamon says, “From our studies, the digivice seems to contain a virtual sub-space pocket able to contain multiple Digimon at once.”

Kari asks, surprised, “Wait! Did you say MULTIPLE Digimon?”

Datamon says, “I believe that what I said.”

Luke says, with a bit of a nervous smile, “That’s correct, Kamiya-san. Unlike most Digidestined, the ‘Tamers’ seem to have the ability to have more than one partner Digimon.”

Davis tells Luke, his eyes narrowing a bit, “Willingly or unwillingly?”

Kari gives a confused look and Luke says, with a sigh, “Mainly willingly, but there are cases that are ‘unwilling’ and plenty of cases of ‘willingly’ that turn up that those poor Digimon were tricked.”

Kari gives a gasp of shock and Davis says, “And I guess that’s why they call themselves ‘tamers’.”

Datamon says, with a nod, “Indeed, human Motomiya. The name has more a ‘direct’ meaning.”

Kari says, shocked, “But that’s not right! Digimon are our partners, not our pets!”

Luke says, with a nod, “You know it, we know it, and plenty of others know it, Kamiya-san. Plenty of the ‘Tamers’ don’t like the name based on what it implies, but it has stuck.”

Davis says, “I heard that not all of the Tamers are like that.”

Datamon says, “Based on observations, it is a logical conclusion since most ‘Tamers’ treat Digimon partners as equals rather than servants to command much like the partnership of ‘regular’ Digidestined and their Digimon partners. However, the ‘Tamers’ moniker still remains due to the fact that the few ‘Tamers’ treat their Digimon partners that way that most Tamers treat Digimon partners as equals, a lot of these ‘Tamers’ still partner with multiple Digimon partner rather than a singular partner like the majority of Digidestined do hence the moniker still remaining.”

Kari says, “Since you put it that way, it doesn’t seem fair to the ‘Tamers’ to be called that way.”

Datamon says, “It is human ‘logic’ as it is.”

Luke asks Davis and Kari, “Do you want to see their digivices?”

Davis asks, curiously, “You sure?”
Luke says, with a smile, “Sure.”

Datamon says, “I’m sure that you are worried about how we acquired them, but you can be assured that they were willing given to us by those orphans that are Tamers to ensure their operation. Like any Digidestined, the digivice represents the bond between Digimon and human partner.”

Davis says, with a serious tone, “No damn kidding.”

Luke asks, “Would you like to see?”

Kari says, with a nod, “Okay.” Davis and Kari follow Luke inside of the facility while the young children continue to play, but what they didn’t know is that some distance away, the whole scene with the Digidestined orphans playing is being watched by a group within the shadows.

(Later on; Elsewhere within the facility)

Inside of what looks like a lab, Davis, Kari, Luke, and their three Digimon partners, Veemon, Gatomon, and Datamon, are looking at several digivices in which are rectangular in design with a screen and having a white ‘circle’ at the bottom half of the device with three buttons coming out of said circle (A/N: The Data Link Digivice from Digimon Data Squad AKA Digimon Season 5.).

Davis asks, “Is this them?”

Datamon says, with a nod, “Indeed.”

Veemon says, “They are different.”

Luke says, “We’ve called them the Data Link Digivice.”

Gatomon asks, curiously, “Data Link Digivice?”

Datamon says, “Yes. Based on our extensive analyze this digivice does perform the same function as known digivices and ‘connect’ Digimon to human partner where the human partner gives his or her ‘power’ to allow the Digimon to digivolve to the next form, but that’s where any similarities end. It seems to perform Digivolution through what is known as ‘DNA Charge’.”

Kari asks, curiously, “DNA Charge?”
Luke says, “That’s short for ‘Digimon Natural Ability’, Kamiya-san. We’re not absolutely certain about it, but it appears on the Digidestined’s, or in this case, the Tamer’s, hand where they send that energy into the digivice where it is processed and allows for Digivolution.”

Datamon says, “And based on theorical analyze, it is believed that the stronger the ‘DNA Charge’, the higher the Digivolution the Digimon will undergo.”

Gatomon asks, surprised, “Wait! Are you saying that this ‘DNA Charge’ could allow Digimon to reach beyond Champion form without things like Crests, DNA Digivolving, or stuff like Azulongmon’s power?”

Datamon says, “Correct, Gatomon. It is believed that humans have the quality to do this without needing such items all along. Your group needed such things because you haven’t tapped into the full potential for humanity to allow us Digimon to digivolve to such highs without ‘complications’.”

Luke says, a bit nervously, “Well, that’s the theory anyway.”

Davis says, with a whistle, “Wow.”

Gatomon says, “If this digivice does that, this digivice may be stronger than even the D-3 digivice.”

Datamon says, “Based on the ability to ‘store’ Digimon in a virtual ‘sub-space’, it is indeed far more powerful than the digivices used by your two partners or those of the previous generation of Digidestined from Tokyo.”

Kari says, amazed, “Wow.” Just then there is a violent shaking and a loud explosion sound coming from outside.

Davis yells out, shocked, “What the heck was that?”

Datamon says, seriously, “Alert! Hostile signatures outside!”

Veemon asks Datamon, “Hostile?”

Gatomon tells Veemon, “I believe that’s what he said, Veemon.”

Davis says, taking out his D-3, “Veemon!”

Kari says, taking out her D-3, “Gatomon!” The two Digimon nod their heads as they prepare to head out and confront the situation before them.

(A short time afterwards)

Back outside in the courtyard, the Digidestined orphans and their Digimon partners, are running for their lives as a group late teenage men and woman, looking like they are in the last year of high school to first years of college, age-wise, dressed like biker gang members, assembled against them with their own Digimon, a lot of them mainly Champion level Digimon with the rest being Rookie level Digimon.

One of them, a young woman with black mixed with dyed red hair that goes down to one-quarter of her back and dressed similar to what Mai Valentine wore as part of Dartz’s Paradius organization, walks forward where she yells out, with a sinister smirk, “Okay, you, brats, where is your leader?”

One of the kids, a young elementary school boy being protected by a ToyAgumon, shouts out, “We’re not saying anything you bully!”

The young woman glares at the young boy causing him to get nervous while the ToyAgumon stays in-between him and the young woman causing the young woman to smirk, evilly, where she says, “The precious partner protecting his precious human partner, huh? How sweet.” The young woman snaps her fingers and a violet humanoid rabbit Digimon with three horns on its head, wearing a yellow Chinese martial arts uniform, blue scarf around its neck, red gloves on its head with horn-like metal claws in its hands, and black shoes on its feet.

Digimon Analyzer (Narrator’s Voice)

“Turuiemon is a martial arts beast Digimon of found in the hinterlands of mountainous areas and it wanders the Digital Worlds to perfect its martial arts. It wields those two horn-like claw weapons and uses its Gantlet Claw along with its Ninja Fist to use those weapons and their skills to the fullest!”

Turuiemon asks, with a bow, “You called for me, my partner?”

The young woman responds, “I know how you are and all, but my patience is wearing thin. I’m here for a job and I intend to do it. Get this little ‘toy’ out of our way!”

Turuiemon replies, with a nod, “As you wish.” The martial arts Digimon turns towards ToyAgumon where he says, “While I have no malice against you, if you are in my partner’s way, you will suffer the consequences. Prepare yourself.”

V-Laser!

But then Turuiemon barely manages to dodge a ‘V’ shaped laser that attacks him causing everyone to look towards where the attack came from to find ExVeemon floating in the air above them.

The gang member dressed group gasp in shock causing one of them, a male, to ask, “Where did he come from?”

Another one, a female, yells out, “Holy shit! I recognize that Digimon! He is one of the Digimon from Odaiba!”

ExVeemon says, with a sly tone, “Hey, Davis! I’m famous!”

Davis’ voice booms out, “What am I? Chopped liver?” Soon enough, everyone else sees Davis, Kari, and Luke running out to the situation.

Luke yells out, irritated, “You again?!”

The young woman who commanded the Turuiemon responds, “Yeah, us!”

Luke shouts out, annoyed, “Why won’t you leave us in peace?”

The young woman responds, with a sinister sly smile, “Why do you think genius? That tech is going to give us a pretty penny despite all that SAO chaos.”

Davis and Kari gasp in shock causing Davis to think, shocked, “What did she just say?”

Luke says, sternly, “No way! We are developing that to help people!”

The young woman says, with a sinister smile, “And it will…help us make a lot of money!”

Luke says, “Our research isn’t just to be exploited by humans and Digimon like you!”

The young woman says, with a sinister smile, “You might want to change that opinion!”

Davis says, “Forgetting about us? My partner and I are right in front of you! Maybe you need glasses!”

The young woman responds, glaring at Davis and ExVeemon, “Ha! You might have gotten the drop on us in that moment, but it won’t work again!” The young woman points the rest of her ‘gang’ where she says, with a sinister smile, “Take a look! There are so many of us and just one of you! And we know about you, Motomiya! You and your Digimon and we know that he is only a Champion level Digimon! One Champion against a whole group of Champion and Rookie Digimon? Your lizard is outmatched! I don’t know what the heck you and your overgrown dragon Digimon are doing here, but you shouldn’t have left Odaiba, punk!”

ExVeemon asks, slyly, “Are you sure about that?” The gang and their Digimon partners give confused looks at ExVeemon’s question.

Heaven’s Charm!

Just then a rainbow aurora engulfs everyone and the Digimon partners of the gang groan out as their strength is being drained causing one of them to ask, “What the fuck?!”

Angewomon’s voice then booms out, “That’s disgusting! There are children, here, you villains!” They look around for the source of the angel Digimon’s voice in which they find Angewomon floating above them with a sacred ring that’s producing the ‘aurora’ that’s weakening the gang’s Digimon partner in which Turuiemon reverts into Lopmon, a chocolate and violet colored bunny Digimon similar in ‘design’ to Terriermon.

The young woman asks, shocked, “What the…?!”

Kari yells out, annoyed, “Hey now, there are kids here!”

ExVeemon tells the young woman, “You were saying!”

The young woman says, irritated, “Rats!”

Kari tells Luke, “Luke-san, get the children and their partners inside!”

Luke says, with a nod, “Yes, thank you!” Luke tells the children, “Come on, everyone! Please hurry!” Immediately, the young orphans and their Digimon partners start to move with ExVeemon and Angewomon keeping an eye on the gang and their Digimon to make sure that they don’t try anything.

One of them, a male gang member, shouts out, “Hey, you think that you can get away?!”

But when he steps forwards, Davis and ExVeemon move to block his path causing Davis to say, “You want to try it?!”

ExVeemon says, with a sly smirk, “Because I’m feeling powered up while you, dorks, don’t look so good!” The gang looks at their Digimon partners, a lot of them reduced to Rookie level, with those still at Champion level looking haggard.

Angewomon says, “My Heaven’s Charm weakens my enemies and strengthens my allies, so, ExVeemon is able to take on plenty of you! And I am Ultimate level Digimon! The odds aren’t in your favor!”

The young woman yells out, “What the heck are you doing here?!”

Davis responds, “Wouldn’t you like to know?!”

Kari says, “It is time for you to leave!”

Angewomon says, “I agree, Kari!”

ExVeemon says, with a sneer, “Get lost!”

Davis says, pounding his right fist into his left palm, “And it can go the easy way or the hard way! I don’t have a problem with either!”

The young woman says, with a sneer, “You are going to pay for this!” The young woman then motions for her gang to leave in which they, human and Digimon alike, slowly move away while Davis, Kari, ExVeemon, and Angewomon keep a good eye on them as they leave. When they are off the grounds, ExVeemon and Angewomon take to the skies to keep on the gang until they are FAR out of sight while Davis and Kari go over to Luke, who is talking and comforting the kids and their Digimon partners.

Luke tells the boy whose partner is ToyAgumon, “You and your partner were really brave.”

The boy asks, curiously, “Really?”

Luke tells the boy, with a warm smile, “Yes, you did.” The boy smiles at Luke as the boy with the ToyAgumon partner takes his Digimon partner away while Davis and Kari go over to Luke.

Kari asks Luke, “How are they?”

Luke says, “Scared, but okay.”

Davis asks ExVeemon, “How does it look up there, buddy?”

ExVeemon says, “They are leaving.”

Angewomon says, with a nod, “ExVeemon is right. They will be out of sight even from up here shortly.”

Kari says, with a nod, “That’s good.”

Davis nods his head and he then asks, looking at Luke, “By the way, bro, do you know what she was talking about?” Luke gains a nervous look while Kari has a curious look with Davis having a bit of a serious one.

Luke says, with a sigh, “You are going to need to follow me.” Luke then motions for Davis and Kari to follow him in which the two of them look at each other, wondering what they are going to find and see.

(Sometime later on)

Deep within the facility, Davis, Kari, Luke, and their three Digimon partners are together in a room where they are looking through a large glass ‘window’ separating this room with another room where there are several large ‘tables’ or ‘beds’ connected to high-tech machines that has an ‘opening’ at the bottom to let a person’s head inside.

Veemon says, amazed, “Wow! These look high-tech!”

Datamon says, “That’s because they are, as you have said, ‘high-tech’, Veemon. They are advanced medical recovery chambers for fleshing…namely humans.”

Kari asks, curiously, “Recovery chambers?”

Luke replies, plainly and with a nod, “That’s right. They are prototype advanced medical recovery chambers…which are based on a prototype medical Full-Dive device.”

Gatomon asks, surprised, “A prototype based on a prototype?!”

Davis says, shocked, “Dude, I’m not a scientist, but something tells me…very risky.”

Kari asks Luke, “By prototype medical Full-Dive device? Do you mean a Medicuboid?”

Davis asks, confused, “Medi-what?”

Gatomon tells Davis, “It is a prototype medical Full-Dive device that’s to be used to improve quality of life and treat terminally ill patients.”

Veemon asks, curiously, “Terminally ill patients?”

Kari says, with a nod, “That’s right.”

Davis asks Luke, “Wait! This is prototype stuff, right? How did you get your hands on it?”

Luke says, with a sigh, “We are…consultants of sorts.”

Kari asks, curiously, “Consultants?”

Datamon says, “We have quite a few number of bright minds…for humans anyways. These intelligent human minds with my partner are working to assist to develop a new Full-Dive VR system that’s safer than the NervGear.”

Veemon asks, curiously, “Really?”

Luke says, with a nod, “That’s right. There are still plenty of us that believe in the technology for the future.”

Kari says, nodding her head in understand, “Yeah, I really enjoyed the VR games.”

Davis says, nodding his head in agreement, “No joke. It was a blast.” Davis says, with a sneer, “Until Kayaba ruined everything for everyone.”

Kari says, solemnly, “Yeah…”

Luke says, “Well, we want to make it that everything that Kayaba did to instill fear into the technology is reversed through I doubt it will be taken away right away.”

Gatomon says, looking at Davis’ and Kari’s solemn expression on their faces, “No damn kidding.”

Davis asks Kari, “By the way, how did you know about that Medi-what Kari?”

Kari tells Davis, “Medicuboid, Davis. I know that for a fact since Izzy, who is part of the SAO Task Force, worked with those that helped bring the Medicuboid to life.”

Veemon asks, curiously, “Really?”

Kari says, a bit nervously, “Yes, but it is based on…on the NervGear.”

Davis yells out, shocked, “What?!”

Luke says, with a sigh, “Yes, it is true. The Medicuboid is based on the NervGear and in fact, it is WAY stronger to cancel out muscle reflexes and spinal reflexes. This is to stop the need for anesthetics…basically pain killers.”

Davis says, plainly, “A little safer if you want my opinion.”

Luke tells Davis, “The Medicuboid was completed by members of the SAO Task Force, so, it has to be safe.”

Kari says, with a smile, “That’s right. And Izzy is part of the Task Force.”

Gatomon says, “True. It might be safe since they were the ones that helped in the construction, but it is a PROTOTYPE and that means that they need to test it to make sure it works probably as well as get data for research.”

Davis says, plainly, “That means that someone needs to use it.”

Luke says, “From what I know, someone is testing the Medicuboid.”

Kari asks, curiously, “Someone is?”

Datamon says, with a nod, “From our contacts, there is a human female that has volunteered to be the test subject for the prototype Medicuboid.”

Gatomon asks, surprised, “They have?”

Datamon says, with a nod of its head, “Indeed. They are, unsurprising, a terminal ill patient with the disease known as AIDS.”

Davis, Kari, and their two Digimon partners get a solemn look causing Luke to say, “As we have already said, they are being used for terminally ill patients.”

Davis says, with a nod, “Yeah, I know. But this girl must be really brave or feel like she has nothing to lose.”

Kari tells Davis, “Dai-kun, it doesn’t mean that she has a ‘death sentence’ on her. There are making advancements every single day.”

Davis says, nervously, “Yeah, I know.”

Gatomon says, plainly, “However, I get what Davis is saying. You made a prototype medical device out of a prototype medical device.”

Luke says, with a nervous smile, “You have a point, Gatomon.”

Datamon says, “Your logic can’t be refuted.” Luke felt like he was struck by a knife from Datamon’s logical words and tone.

Veemon asks, curiously, “So, how does it work?”

Datamon says, “It has similar workings to the Medicuboid, but it is far more advanced. It works to put a subject into stasis while other ‘medical devices’ installed into system that can repair ‘damages’ to your ‘physical forms’ as well as take care any ‘abnormalities’.”

Davis asks, nervously, “In Japanese?”

Luke says, with a bit of a nervous smile, “It means that it is like what you see and hear in sci-fi fiction about ‘healing chambers’ or the like. The ability to heal people from even fatal injuries or diseases.”

Veemon says, amazed, “Wow!”

Kari says, with a nod, “I’ll say.”

Gatomon says, “That explains why that group wants it so bad.”

Davis says, with a nod and a snort, “Not surprising. Groups like that just love to use technology that could help mankind in general for their own selfish benefit and in this case…to the highest bidder.”

Gatomon says, with a nod, “Yep.”

Davis says, “It still gives me the creeps because it is based on technology that…” Kari gets a solemn look while Davis’ right hand turns into a fist.”

Luke tells Davis and Kari, with a nod of understanding, “I know. However, you can be assured that we are nothing like Kayaba…”

Davis tells Luke, with a grin, “Dude, it is pretty obvious with all this.”

Kari says, with a smile, “Yes. Personally, I doubt that Kayaba would run this kind of place.”

Veemon says, with a grin, “Yeah, you are one of the good guys.”

Gatomon says, “They are more worried about you getting in over your head.”

Datamon says, “I am familiar with the terminology and your concerns are indeed logical. However, you can be assured that we have taken proper precautions.”

Davis says, “I’m sure that you have, but dude, what if ‘someone else’ found out? I mean, our lips are closed…”

Luke says, with a nod, “I understand, Davis. With things are thanks to Kayaba, the government won’t take kindly to operations such as we are doing.”

Datamon says, “However, over time, we hope to gain the trust of the government by aiding with the SAO Task Force. For the moment, this is the facility’s greatest secret and since it is still in the development phase…”

Luke tells Datamon, “I believe that they have the idea, Datamon.”

Davis says, with a smile, “Well, you have us here to help and protect you.”

Gatomon says, with a nod, “Something tells me that they’ll be back.”
Luke says, “Well, I’m glad that we have you.”

Kari tells Luke, “It is the least that we can do after you allowed us to stay, Luke.”

Luke says, with a nod, “It was no problem.” Luke then says, a bit nervously, “However, while I understand your situation, you are going to need to confront…” As Luke says this, Davis can see Kari’s nervous expression.

Davis tells Luke, with a kind smile, “Yeah, we know.”

Luke says, with a smile, “I understand. Anyway, we should prepare if they return.”
Datamon says, “Based on current data, I believe that it is logical to assume that it isn’t a question ‘if’, it is a question of ‘when’, Luke.”

Gatomon says, “Your partner has a point.”

Luke says, with a sigh, “Yeah.”

Davis says, with a grin, “Well, like I said before, you have us now.”

Luke says, with a smile, “Thanks, Davis.” Soon enough, the three Digidestined and their Digimon partners start to discuss about how to defend the facility against the gang that ‘attacked’ them earlier.

Late March 2023, Japan, Unknown location

Speaking of said gang, the young woman with the Lopmon partner is facing a shadowy figure in front of a desk with a BlackAgumon, a black version of Tai’s Digimon partner, by this person’s side.

That shadowy figure says, with a plain tone and with a male voice, “This is a problem.”

The young woman says, “I’m sorry, sir.”

The shadowy figure says, plainly, “No, we weren’t expecting another Ultimate level Digimon to be there. This is going to make things complicated.”

The young woman asks, curiously, “What will our employer say?”

The shadowy figure replies, “I’m not sure, Iri. They aren’t exactly the type that I can tell anything about.”

The young woman, known as ‘Iri’, replies, surprised, “Really, sir?”

The shadowy figure responds, “Yep. They make sure to hide their ‘intentions’ really well.”

Iri asks the shadowy figure, with a curious tone, “What shall we do?”

The shadowy figure says, plainly, “I’m not sure what two experience Digidestined, especially the Digidestined from Odaiba, are doing out in the sticks, but we won’t let that stop us.”

Iri tells her boss, “Sir, these are two experienced Digidestined and their Digimon partners. It isn’t only just the Digimon’s ‘level’, but their experience also counts. A newly digivolve Mega Digimon doesn’t stand a chance against a battle-tested Mega Digimon.”

The shadowy figure says, with a nod, “Correct, Iri. And ExVeemon is an experience Champion Digimon with Angewomon is a combat experienced Ultimate level with partners that have been through the ringers before. And we don’t have combat tested partners.” The shadowy figure tells BlackAgumon, “No offense partner.”

BlackAgumon says, with a nod, “None taken boss. I’ve never had a challenge in my life, but I would like to get started.”

The shadowy figure tells BlackAgumon, “Easy, partner. Let us not rush in there.”

Iri asks her boss, “What should we do now, sir?”

Iri’s boss responds, “I will call our employers and see what they say. Keep an eye on the facility.”

Iri replies, with a nod, “Yes, sir.”

After Iri leaves the room, BlackAgumon asks his partner, “Well, boss, what now?”

Iri’s boss retorts, “Wait and see, partner. We have to wait and see.”

Mid-April 2023, Japan, Digidestined orphanage

Today, we are outside of the Digidestined orphanage grounds and facility where we find Flamedramon fighting against Turuiemon in which the two of them are deadly even.

Fire Rocket!

Flamedramon unleashes several powerful fireballs at Turuiemon, but the rabbit Digimon’s martial art skills allows him to counter the attack.

Flamedramon tells Turuiemon, “This is getting old, Turuiemon!”

Turuiemon responds, with a stern tone, “I know, but this is the way that things are, Flamedramon! Prepare yourself!” Turuiemon attacks Flamedramon with their martial arts skills with Flamedramon somehow managing to match Turuiemon move for move. On the meanwhile, Angewomon and Datamon are engaged in battle with various Champion level Digimon with Angewomon using her Heaven’s Charm to weaken them while Datamon using his powers to force them to de-digivolve back into their Rookie forms through quite a few were forced back into their In-Training forms.

Datamon says, “I swear, I do not see the logic of holding back. If we eliminate the opponents…”

Angewomon says, with a plain tone, “Our partners respect us as living beings and wish for the least amount of blood…data shed as possible.”

Datamon says, “And yet, they have taken both Digimon and human…”

Angewomon tells Datamon, with a dangerous tone in her voice, “You DON’T want to finish that sentience.”

Datamon says, still with his logic plain tone of voice, “As you wish.” The battle continues on with Flamedramon and Turuiemon in an intense fight with Flamedramon managing to match Turuiemon’s fighting skills evenly.

Turuiemon asks, confused, “But how?”

Flamedramon says, with a smirk, “Ha! I’ve faced quite a few Digimon with skills like yours, so, don’t think that anything that you do can surprise me, pal!” Turuiemon growls in irritation as he continues to battle against Flamedramon, but Flamedramon leaps back from one attack from Turuiemon.

Fire Rocket!

Flamedramon then launches himself, like a rocket with flames surrounding him, towards Turuiemon and ramming into the martial arts Champion Digimon in which Turuiemon is sent flying before de-digivolving back into Lopmon in front of their partner, Iri, causing her to snarl.

Iri shouts out, “Move! Get out of here!” Just then multiple ‘pellets’ hit the ground and they ‘explode’ unleash a massive cloud of white smoke where the gang, human and Digimon, are hidden from sight and when the smoke has dispelled, the gang has vanished.

Datamon says, “Enemies not on sensors. They have retreated.”

Angewomon says, plainly, “Indeed.”

The three Digimon’s human partners come up with Davis tells Flamedramon, “Good work, buddy!”

Flamedramon says, with a grin, “No problem!” Soon after, Flamedramon reverts back to Veemon with Angewomon doing the same where she returns back to Gatomon.

Kari tells Gatomon, “Great job.”

Gatomon says, with a nod, “Yeah…”

Kari asks Gatomon, “Something wrong?”

Gatomon says, with a plain tone, “They keep attacking us despite knowing that there are two experienced Digimon along with the fact that one of them is an Ultimate level Digimon.”

Datamon says, with a nod, “Yes, their actions are quite illogical. With the two of you, we have two experienced Digimon and their human partners that are well-knowledge in combat operations with one of you being able to reach Ultimate level. We also yours truly and my superior computer mind allows me to anticipate their attacks despite them changing their tactics. They should know that with two of you and my superior calculating abilities…”

Luke says, nervously and interrupting, “We get the idea, partner.”

Davis says, with a sigh, “This is just one big pain in the neck.”

Veemon says, “They really must want those machines.”

Gatomon asks, curiously, “But how did they learn about them in the first place?”

Kari looks at Luke where she asks, “Luke, did you learn how they found out about your machines in the first place?”

Luke says, with a sigh, “No. Not at all. It has been so many weeks, but Datamon and I haven’t found a single clue on how they found out.”

Datamon says, “We have gone over all data transmissions in and out of this facility and tracked everyone…”

Davis asks Datamon, “Dude, seriously?”

Luke says, with a nervous smile, “That’s the way that Datamon is.”

Gatomon says, with a sigh, “Can’t say that I envy you.”

Veemon says, with a nod, “No kidding.”

Luke says, with a sigh, “Anyway, let’s say that we haven’t found any way that they would have known about our ‘special project’.”

Datamon says, “Right now, we should head back inside and discuss our future plans.”

Gatomon says, with a nod, “I’ve got to agree with Datamon. Let’s talk about the situation when we are back inside.”

Kari says, nodding her head in agreement, “Good idea.”

Luke says, who also nods his head in agreement with his Digimon partner, Kari’s Digimon partner, and Kari herself, “Same here.” But then there is a loud ‘boom’ coming from the orphanage grounds causing everyone to look towards the ground to see a trail of smoke rising into the air coming from said orphanage grounds.

Veemon asks, surprised, “What was that?”

Davis says, “Shit! We were played!”

Datamon says, showing a surprised tone, “Impossible. My detection devices would have detected any lifeform, human, Digimon, or otherwise, approaching the facility from any angle. I’ve also made sure that I’ve ensured that my sensors are overlapping, so, there are no openings to be exploited…”

Luke says, seriously, “We’ll worry about that later, Datamon! Let’s go!” Immediately, the three humans and their Digimon partners rush off back to the orphanage facility proper to protect the orphans and their Digimon partners from whoever and/or whatever is attacking them.

(A short time soon after)

Back in the orphanage facility proper, we find someone that looks like ‘Duel Bot’, AI robot designed by Neo Domino City’s Sector Security, now Neo Domino City’s Police Department, known as Ghost is walking through the courtyard where we see kids and their Digimon partners, In-Training and Rookie levels, in hiding.

This ‘Ghost’ yells out, in a Southern United States style voice, “Yee haw! It looks like that it is time for the roundup!”

Just then Davis’ voice booms out, “Wrong, buster!” ‘Ghost’ looks up to see Davis, Kari, Luke, Raidramon, Nefertimon, and Datamon with Davis, Luke, and Datamon riding Raidramon, appearing on the scene.

Nefertimon asks, confused, “What is that?”

Datamon says, “Scanners show that it is an AI driven robot.”

Davis asks, surprised, “A robot?”

Datamon says, with a nod, “Indeed. Very clever. My sensors were tuned to detect living organisms, both flesh and blood and digital in origin, but not anything artificial in nature.”

Kari asks Datamon, “But you said that this thing is driven by an AI, so…?”

Datamon responds, interrupting, “While it is run by an AI, it is run on a set number of commands and directives. I also detect a secured line of communication and a well secured one at that. I can’t find any ‘back door’ into the operating system at this time.”

Luke says, “Hey, he looks like the Ghost Duel Bot!”

Davis asks Luke, “Duel Bot?”

Luke responds, with a nod, “A security robot developed in Neo Domino City for security work, but it was stolen by a criminal or terrorist organization of some kind. They created duplicates of this robot to cause terror in Neo Domino City and all the data on the robot was lost, so, with that and the terror caused by duplicates of this robot, the Duel Bot projected was completely scrapped with all Duel Bot remains supposed destroyed.”

Raidramon says, looking at this ‘Ghost’, “Somebody didn’t tell this tin can that.”

Nefertimon says, “It looks like they managed to get one on us.”

Datamon says, “True. And it looks like we shouldn’t be hasty in defeating this one.”

Luke asks Datamon, “What do you mean?”

Datamon responds, “There are a significant number of explosives in this android.”

There are gasps from the two Armored Digimon and three humans causing Davis to ask, shocked, “Explosives?!”

‘Ghost’ retorts, with an evil sly machine-like tone, “That’s right, bro! You try to ‘blow me up’ and you get blown up! Boom!”

Datamon says, “Based on my analysis, the explosives would be enough to cause significant damage to the facility and kill as well as injury many Digimon and their partners in our facility!”

Davis says, nervously and sarcastically, “Oh, you think?!”

‘Ghost’ says, with an evil sly tone, “There is only one way to make me go away!”

Davis retorts, “Yeah, what’s that?” Just then ‘Ghost’ displays his robotic left arm which transforms into a duel disk causing Davis to ask, “A duel?”

Luke says, “It makes sense since he was developed for duels.”

‘Ghost’ says, “Like I said, partner, you try to ‘blow me away’ and I blow up! The only gosh darn way that you can stop me is this way! You win, I’m on the scrap heap! You lose…Well, I think that you can guess!”

Davis says, annoyed, “For a tin can that can’t do really anything on its own, it is really ticking me off!”

Kari asks, “What shall we do?”

Datamon responds, “Logically, there is no choice. We must respond to the android’s and its master’s challenge!”

Luke says, “I hate to admit it, but Datamon is right!”

Davis asks Luke, “Do you have got a spear duel disk?”

Luke says, with a nod, “Yep.” Luke and Datamon then take off to get Davis a duel disk while Davis, Kari, and their two Armored Digimon partners stare down ‘Ghost’. A brief while afterwards, Davis, having a Neo Domino City style standard duel disk attached to his left arm with a dueling deck inside, faces off against ‘Ghost’, who now has a deck inside of their duel disk. The two duel disks activate, display 4000 life-points for each duelist on their life-point counters, and their decks are shuffled where, after the shuffling is done, the two of them draw five cards from their respective decks.

“Game on!” Davis and ‘Ghost’ say in unison as their duel begins.

Starting Scores:
Davis: 4000
Ghost: 4000

‘Ghost’ says, drawing a card, “I’ll start off this rodeo.”

Davis says, “The American cowboy stick is getting old ‘partner’.”

‘Ghost’ says, with an evil grin, “Too bad, boy! You are going to have to endure it!” ‘Ghost’ says, putting one card on its disk, “I start off with Raiden, Hand of the Lightsworn in attack mode!” Just then Raiden, Hand of the Lightsworn (1700/1000) appears on the field in attack mode where ‘Ghost’ says, putting a card into the Field Spell slot of its disk, “Then I activate my Realm of Light Field Spell!” Then field then ‘transforms’ into a vast shining city with a bright light shining above it in which ‘Ghost’ says, putting three cards into the spell/trap slots of its disk, “Then I play here three face-downs to end my turn, but it isn’t completely over yet! Due to my monster, I discard the two cards of my deck to the graveyard in the sky…or in this case, the ground!” ‘Ghost’ discards the top two cards from his deck and puts them into the graveyard slot of his disk causing him to say, “However, my cards aren’t going to roll over and play dead, not a chance! They are Wulf, Lightsworn Beast and Felis, Lightsworn Archer! And when they are sent from the deck to my graveyard, they can come right onto the field!” Soon after, Wulf, Lightsworn Beast (2100/300) appears on the field in attack mode while Felis, Lightsworn Archer (1100/2000) appears on the field in defense mode where ‘Ghost’ says, “By the way, due to my Realm of Light Field Spell, since I discarded cards from my deck to the grave, it gains a Shine Counter and my little Lightsworns get one hundred point boost for every one!” Raiden goes from 1700/1000 to 1800/1000, Wulf goes from 2100/300 to 2200/300, and Felis goes from 1100/2000 to 1200/2000 causing ‘Ghost’ to say, “That ends my turn!”

Luke says, nervously, “A Lightsworn deck!”

Gatomon says, nervously, “That’s why his deck seemed overloaded. This is going to be a tricky one.”

Davis thinks in his mind, nervously, “No kidding, Gatomon!” Davis says, drawing a card, “My move!” Davis says, putting one card into the main slot of his disk, “I start off with Polymerization!” Davis discards two cards causing Elemental Hero Avian (1000/1000) and Elemental Hero Burstinatrix (1200/800) to appear on the field where they go into a fusion vortex causing Davis to say, as he gets a Fusion Monster card from his Extra Deck, “I fuse Elemental Heroes Avian and Burstinatrix to bring out the big guns in Elemental Hero Flame Wingman!” Davis puts the Fusion Monster card on his disk causing Elemental Hero Flame Wingman (2100/1200) to come out of the vortex in attack mode in which Davis shouts out, “Now, Flame Wingman, attack Raiden!” Flame Wingman unleashes a blast of flames right at Raiden.

‘Ghost’ says, pushing two buttons on his disks, “Wrong, partner! I activate my traps: Lightsworn Barrier and Light Spiral!” Two of ‘Ghost’s’ face-downs are revealed to be the Lightsworn Barrier and Light Spiral continuous trap cards where ‘Ghost’ says, “Now, thanks to my barrier, when a Lightsworn is attacked, I can discard the top two cards of my deck to negate that attack!” The top two cards in ‘Ghost’s’ deck vanish where a barrier protects Raiden from its attack causing ‘Ghost’ to say, “Since I discarded cards from my deck, again, Realm of Light gets another counter and my monsters gain another boost!” Raiden goes from 1800/1000 to 1900/1000, Wulf goes from 2200/300 to 2300/300, and Felis goes from 1200/2000 to 1300/2000 due to the effect of the Realm of Light Field Spell.

Davis says, putting three cards into the spell/trap slots of his disk, “Then I play two cards face-down and activate my Mirage of Nightmare to end my turn!”

‘Ghost’ then says, drawing a card, “Then it is my move!”

Davis says, drawing four cards from his deck, “And it is my draw, too! Thanks to Mirage of Nightmare, I get to draw until I have four cards in my hand during your Standby Phase, but I must get rid of the same number of cards that I drew during my next Standby Phase!” Davis says, with a sly grin while pushing a button on his disk, “Or not! I activate my face-down: Emergency Provisions!” Davis’ face-down card is revealed to be the Emergency Provisions Quick-Play spell card in which Davis says, “By destroying a spell or trap on my field, I regain one thousand life-points per card! And that means to  say, adios, to my Mirage!” The hologram of Mirage of Nightmare continuous spell card vanishes while Davis gains 1000 more life-points.

Kari says, with a smile, “That’s great!”

‘Ghost’ says, with a wicked grin, “You are going to need those cards, buddy boy!”

Veemon says, nervously, “Uh oh!”

‘Ghost’ says, “I activate the ability of my Raiden! Once per turn, I can discard the top two cards of my deck and if any Lightsworn monsters are with them cards, my buddy gets two hundred more attack points for each one until the end of your next turn!” ‘Ghost’ then says, with an evil grin, “And they were Aurkus, Lightsworn Druid and Riyan, Lightsworn Rogue, which means that Raiden gets a four hundred point boost!” Raiden then goes from 1900/1000 to 2300/2000 where ‘Ghost’ says, “By the way, thanks to my Light Spiral trap card, when I discard using a Lightsworn’s ability, the top card of your deck is them banished to the next dimension, partner!”

Davis gasps causing him to yell out, flabbergasted, “No way!” Soon after, the top card of Davis’ deck vanishes causing him to snarl at ‘Ghost’.

‘Ghost’ says, “That’s the breaks, partner! Also, my Field Spell gets another counter which boosts my monsters’ points even more!” ‘Ghost’ gives an evil laugh as Raiden goes from 2400/1000 to 2500/1000, Wulf goes from 2300/300 to 2400/300, and Felis goes from 1300/2000 to 1400/2000 due to the effect of the Realm of Light Field Spell causing ‘Ghost’ to say, “It is time for the final roundup! Raiden, shock to his system!” Raiden then unleashes a powerful beam of light right at Flame Wingman.

Davis yells out, pushing a button on his disk, “I activate my trap: Impenetrable Attack!” Davis’ face-down card is revealed to be the Impenetrable Attack trap card causing him to say, “Thanks to this trap card, my Flame Wingman can’t be destroyed by any means during this turn!”

‘Ghost’ says, “But you still take damage, partner!” Raiden’s attack slams into Flame Wingman, but it bounces off him where Davis growls as the ‘sparks’ him as he loses 400 life-points causing ‘Ghost’ to say, “Now, Wulf, sick him!” Wulf slashes at Flame Wingman in the waist and while Flame Wingman isn’t destroyed, Davis grunts as the shockwave causing him to take a step back as he loses 300 life-points. ‘Ghost’ says, putting one card on its disk, “Then I play Ehren, Lightsworn Monk in attack mode!” Ehren, Lightsworn Monk (1600/1000-1900/1000) appears on the field in attack mode causing ‘Ghost’ to say, “Then I Overlay both Ehren and Felis and build the Overlay Network!” Two said monsters turn into lights that goes into a vortex in the ground while ‘Ghost’ puts those same cards on the same Monster Card Zone on its duel disk.

Kari asks, confused, “What’s going on here?”

‘Ghost’ takes out a black faced card from its Extra Deck, puts it on top of the two monster cards in the same Monster Card Zone, and ‘Ghost’ yells out, “I XYZ Summon Minerva, the Exalted Lightsworn in attack mode!” Out of the vortex, Minerva, the Exalted Lightsworn (2000/800-2300/800) with two ‘orbs of light’ orbiting her, appears on the field in attack mode.

Davis asks, confused, “XYZ Summon?! What the heck is an XYZ Summon?!”

Luke says, shocked, “I know about this!”

Kari and two Armored Digimon look at Luke causing Kari to ask, curiously, “You do?”

Luke says, with a nod, “It is a new Summoning System being developed for Duel Monsters! It is known as XYZ Summoning! You use two or more monsters of the same level to bring out this new type of Extra Deck monster, an XYZ Monster, in which those monsters don’t automatically go to the graveyard, they become ‘attached’ to the monster as Overlay Units, which are used to activate the abilities of the XYZ Monster! However, I thought that they were still in development!”

Davis tells Luke, pointing to his opponent, “Tell that to this bucket of bolts!”

‘Ghost’ says, “I activate Minerva’s ability! By removing one Overlay Unit, I can send the top three cards from my deck to the graveyard in which I draw one card for every Lightsworn monster discarded due to this effect!” The top three cards of ‘Ghost’s’ deck shoot out, displaying another Wulf, Lightsworn Beast (2100/300), Felis, Lightsworn Archer (1100/2000), and Ryko, Lightsworn Hunter (200/100), and the three cards shoot into graveyard slot of ‘Ghost’s’ disk causing him to say, while drawing three more cards, “Since that was three Lightsworns, I get three new cards! However, you lose the top card of your deck due to my Light Spiral trap!” Davis growls as the top card of his deck ‘vanishes’ while ‘Ghost’ says, with an evil sly tone, “Plus, my Realm of Light gets yet another counter where my monsters get even stronger!” Minerva goes from 2300/800 to 2400/800 while Raiden goes from 2500/1000 to 2600/1000 causing ‘Ghost’ to say, “And by the way, since two of those monsters was another Wulf and Felis, they get to come to the field!” Just then another Wulf, Lightsworn Beast (2100/300-2500/300) and Felis, Lightsworn Archer (1100/2000-1500/2000) appear on the field in attack mode. ‘Ghost’ then yells out, “And now, I tune Raiden with Wulf!” Raiden turns into four stars that turn into four rings that surround Wulf causing Wulf to become transparent and then a column of light to appear on the field as ‘Ghost’ take a Synchro Monster card from its Extra Deck. ‘Ghost’ then chants out, “Dragon of divine judgment, come forth from the other world and smite those that dare to stand in your way! Synchro Summon!” ‘Ghost’ puts the Synchro Monster card on its disk causing ‘Ghost’ to yell out, “I Synchro Summon Judgment, the Dragon of Heaven!” Out of the column of light, Judgment, the Dragon of Heaven (3000/2600), a four winged and four-tailed version of Judgment Dragon, appears on the field in attack mode.

Raidramon says, “Yipe! I don’t want to meet that guy in a dark or even BRIGHT alleyway!”

Nefertimon says, “For the rare time, we agree, Raidramon.”

‘Ghost’ says, “I believe that’s enough for now, mate! Now, my dragon forces me to banish the top four cards of my deck at the end of my turn!”

Davis asks, surprised, “Banish?” Just then the top four cards of ‘Ghost’s’ deck vanish into ‘light particles’ causing Davis to narrow his eyes.

Nefertimon says, “I don’t like this. That tin can is up to something.” Kari, Luke, and Raidramon nod their heads in agreement with Nefertimon.

Current Scores:
Davis: 4300
Ghost: 4000

Davis says, drawing a card, “My move!” Davis says, as another card ‘appears’ in his hand, “Plus, this card returns to me! Card from a Different Dimension!” Davis displays the Card from a Different Dimension spell card causing him to say, “Remember? You removed two cards from my deck, and this is one of them! Now, it returns to my hand and both of us draw two cards!” Davis and ‘Ghost’ draw two cards from their respective decks causing Davis to say, putting one card into the spell/trap slots of his disk, “Then I activate Polymerization!” Davis discards two cards from his hand causing Elemental Hero Wildheart (1500/1600) and Elemental Hero Bladedge (2600/1800) to appear on the field before going into a fusion vortex where Davis says, “I fuse Elemental Heroes Wildheart and Bladedge!” Davis takes a Fusion Monster card from his Extra Deck, puts it on his disk, and this causes him to say, putting the Fusion Monster card on his disk, “Meet Elemental Hero Wildedge in attack mode!” Out of the fusion vortex, Elemental Hero Wildedge (2600/2300) appears on the field in attack mode.

‘Ghost’ retorts, slyly, “Ha! You must have gone daft, partner! My trap card will prevent you from taking out my critters!”

Davis says, putting one more card into the spell/trap slots of his disk, “Wrong, you dirty varmint! And this is why! I play Miracle Fusion! By removing material monsters from my field or graveyard from play, I can Fusion Summon a hero! So, I remove Avian and Wildheart!” Two cards come out of Davis’ deck, ‘vanish’, and this causes Elemental Hero Avian (1000/1000) with Elemental Hero Wildheart (1500/1600) to reappear on the field before going into a fusion vortex where Davis says, putting a Fusion Monster card from his Extra Deck on his disk, “This allows Elemental Hero Wild Wingman to take the skies!” Out of the fusion vortex, Elemental Hero Wild Wingman (1900/2300) comes to the field in attack mode where Davis says, discarding one card from his hand, “Thanks to Wild Wingman, by discarding a card from my hand, I send one of your spells or traps packing!” ‘Ghost’ takes a step back as Wild Wingman creates a storm that destroys ‘Ghost’s’ Lightsworn Barrier continuous trap card where Davis yells out, “Now, Wildedge, by using your ability to attack all of my opponent’s monsters, take out his lizard and his other monsters!”

‘Ghost’ says, with a sly tone, “You won’t make much of dent on my dragon since it is stronger!”

Davis says, putting one more card into the spell/trap slots of his disk, “Wrong, again, you tin can! You should check your computer for virus since you are WAY off! I activate my Battle Fusion spell card! When my Fusion Monster is attacking an opponent’s monster, it gets attack points equal to its attack points and since Wildedge is attacking your dragon first, it is getting its attack points!”

‘Ghost’ yells out, in a shocked robotic voice, “No way!”

Kari says, excitedly, “Yes, way!”

As Wildedge goes from 2600/2300 to 5600/2300, Davis shouts out, “Wildedge, end this duel with Scimitar Slash!” Wildedge unleashes blades that slam into Judgment and Minerva in which Wildedge charges in where he slashes Felis in which all three monsters explode in a massive explosion causing ‘Ghost’ to scream out as he loses 5900 life-points, ending the duel immediately.

Smoke starts to come out of the ears of ‘Ghost’ causing him to yell out, in a ‘panicky’ robotic voice, “Error! Error! ERROR! ERR-!” Just then ‘Ghost’s’ head explodes before the rest of its body collapses in a heap as the final Solid Vision holograms vanish.

Final Scores:
Davis: 4300
Ghost: 0

Raidramon says, excitedly, “Way to go, partner!”

Luke says, “Datamon!”

Datamon says, with a nod, “Of course, partner.” Datamon rushes over and extends wires from his fingers into the motionless robot ‘body’ of ‘Ghost’ to make sure that he doesn’t explode. After a minute, Datamon stops causing him to say, “The explosives are inert. There is no danger anymore.”

Davis says, with a sigh, “That’s good to know.”

Luke asks Datamon, “Could you get anything?”

Datamon responds, shaking his head, “No. The instant that its functions terminated, the ‘connection’ was lost. I must say that whoever had constructed and worked this android did a very fine job.”

Nefertimon says, “You shouldn’t compliment the enemy.”

Davis says, “Let’s dismantle that tin can and make sure that it is safe.”

Luke says, with a nod, “I agree, Davis.”
Datamon says, with a plain tone, “Indeed.” Soon enough, Datamon starts to dismantle ‘Ghost’ while the other assist how they can through quite a few of them wonder about this robot.

Mid-April 2023, Japan, Unknown location

At an unknown location, a shadowed figure is looking at a hologram of Iri’s boss with his Digimon partner, BlackAgumon.

The shadowed figure says, “Thank you for humoring me.”

Iri’s boss says, “You payed for it. I am not one to argue.”

The shadowed figure says, “But you are confused on why I didn’t set the android to denotate anyway. Mindless murder isn’t what my organization is about.”

Iri’s boss asks, curiously, “What is it about?”

The shadowed figure responds, “You will see in time. For now, continue your work.”

Iri’s boss says, with a shrug, “As you wish.”

The hologram of Iri’s boss and BlackAgumon vanish and the shadowed figure says, plainly, “Fool. Your greed and selfish will be the end of you.” The shadowed figure then hears footsteps and looks towards the source to see a young teenage girl of 14 years of age with short neck length black hair, dark grey eyes that are almost blackish, and wearing an outfit that looks exactly Mai Valentine’s outfit that she wore when she was part of Paradius.

The young girl asks, in a dark cold tone, “You called?”

The shadowed figure responds, “Good work on your mission, Suguha.”

The young teenage girl, Suguha, responds, with a dark scoff and dark cold tone, “I’m not in this for your ‘praises’, pal. I’m just in this to get what I want.”

The shadowed figure replies, with a plain tone, “Of course.”

Suguha says, with a dark cold tone while looking at something, “What’s that? That looks important.”

The shadowed figure retorts, plainly, “Maybe, but it is nothing for the moment.” The shadowed figure closes a file where we see the pictures of the Digidestined orphanage along with the pictures of Davis, Kari, Luke, and their Digimon partners.

Suguha says, with a scoff, “Whatever.” Suguha asks, with a dark cold tone, “Do you have something for me?”

The shadowed figure says, with a sinister smile, “Yes. People of interest to you. People that gave Kayaba the ability to take what’s precious to you.”

Suguha says, with a dark angered tone, “They’re mine.”

The shadowed figure says, with a nod, “Of course, my dear.”

Suguha thinks in her mind, with a dark sinister and angered tone, “Soon…you will pay for helping that madman take my big brother and everyone else away from us. You’ll get your dues soon enough.” Suguha’s right hand turns into a fist that she tightly grips while we look to see a sinister evil smile form on the lips of the shadowy figure in the room.

The End…of the story

Sorry that this took so long to get out, but I was really starting from scratch for this one. This is the first one-shot story of the new year and I wanted to do something good. Personally, I thought that something like this would be a good idea to get more into the backstory of Davis, Kari, and their Digimon partners in the ‘in-between’ period between the start of SAO and when they met up with others, which depends on which ‘timeline’ you are focusing on. Anyway, I hope that you like and there is more to come, folks! Please read and review and no flames, please! Later and best wishes, Crossover Fans!
