He stood outside a large building. Two figures on horseback sped by. As he turned to face them, he heard another horse walk up behind him. He turned to see a man behind him with what seemed to be a black fog spilling from his body. The boy stepped back and was hit by a blast of magic...
"NO!" Link cried, bolting up from his bed. He bounced slightly and looked around. His best firend Saria sat at his small table.
"You worried me for a while. Your fever was so high..." She said to him. Link scratched the back of his head.
"Um...sorry." He said. Saria sat a wooden cup of milk down for him and a plate filled with fruit. She looked back to him.
"You need to eat." She told him, standing. Link went to the table and proceeded in stuffing his face. Saria winced slightly and pulled her right sleeve down further to cover her wrist. She quietly left the small home...
"Ah! That was good!" The Kokiri said. He stood and stretched. At that time a blue fairy zipped inside his house. He fell back startled.
"Wh...what the...?!" He yelped, falling back. The little fairy flew around him many times before stopping infront of his face. The child fell to his butt.
"WOAH!" He yelled. The fairy flew closer. So close Link could almost see its face.
"Hi there!" It said. Link blinked a few times and looked around. Finally he pointed to himself.
"Um...are you talking to me??" He asked. The fairy flew up and down a few times 'nodding'.
"Do you see any other fairy-less Kokiri around here?" It asked. Link shook his head and gulped. The fairy landed on the end of his nose.
"I was sent by the Great Deku Tree! He wants to see you!" It said. Link jumped up. The fairy became startled and fell off. It landed on the ground.
"REALLY?! Then let's go!" Link shouted, grabbing his slingshot. He ran out the door, leaving the fairy behind, confused. It flew up and out.
"Wait!" It called...
Kokiri Village 'Square'
Link jumped from the legde on his tree home to the ground and ran east to where the Great Deku Tree grew. He couldn't wait to find out why he had been called. Usually it was Saria or Midfo who were called, but today it was Link. He didn't even mind as the thought that the Great Deku Tree wanted to see how he was entered his head. He kept running and hopped across the pillars of land in the small pond and arrived at the path to the Great Deku Tree's grove. However Mido was blocking the path.
"What do YOU want?" The bully asked. Link stopped in his tracks.
"The Great Deku Tree called me." He said. Mido turned his head. He didn't like Link at all. He dispised him more than anything in the world.
"He summoned YOU?! Why not me?!" He demanded. Link shrugged and tried getting by. Mido however shoved him into the pond behind the boy. Link came up for air, his clothing soaked. He glared at Mido and swam to shore.
"Mido, let me by!!" Link shouted grabbing the other Kokiri by the arm. With unknown strength he hurled the bully into the lake for revenge and ran by.
"HEY!" Mido yelled. Link paid no attention to him and kept running, followed by the fairy from earlier. He didn't stop until he reached the sacred grove...
Great Deku Tree's Grove...
"Great Deku Tree! I'm here!" Link shouted. He looked up at the majestic tree, smiling. But he then frowned, sensing something wrong.
"Great Deku Tree?" He asked. The fairy flew by.
"I'm back!!" It yelled. Finally the Great Deku Tree spoke. With much difficultly it managed to form words to greet the child.
"Navi...thank you." It said. Link could definatly feel something wrong with it. He stepped closer, clutching the slingshot in his hands.
"Great Deku Tree. What's wrong?" He asked. The Tree watched him.
"You can...feel it. I know you can Link..." It told him. Link nodded and walked closer, followed by Navi. The Great Deku Tree shuddered visibly as a low creaking noise was heard. Link's elven ears shot up as he heard it.
"Great Deku Tree! There's something nearby!" He shouted. A loud roar was heard as a giant monster dropped infront of him. Link yelped and fell back looking up at the creature in pure terror. Navi hid behind one of his pointed ears, cowering. Link raised the slingshot to attack but the monster knocked it out of his hands and snapped it in half.
"My slingshot!" He yelled. Link was now powerless to fight this monster. He watched in terror as the creatured raised a single arm to finish him off. Link grabbed the nearest item and threw it. It was a Deku nut. The flash stunned the enemy enough for the boy to quickly move away. Navi then noticed something in the branches of the Great Deku Tree. Flying up the tiny fairy bumped into it, causing it to fall right into Link's hands.
"Link! This slingshot is the Fairy Slingshot!" She said. Link grabbed a rock and aimed at the creatures eye. Firing he was pleased with the result. The monster died instantly. Link tucked the item away and turned to the Great Deku Tree. However the majestic tree was turning gray and dying.
"Great Deku Tree!" Link shouted. In his hands formed an odd green gem.
"Go...to Hyrule...and find...the...Princess..." The tree said. It then died. Link just stared at the tree for a long time. He finally turned to walk out of the meadow, but was stopped by Mido and some of his buddies. Mido took one look at the tree and shoved Link to the ground, holding a sword.
"What did you do?!" He yelled. Link looked surprised.
"I...I didn't do anything!" He insisted. Mido growled at him.
"You're a TERRIBLE liar Link!" He said. Link frowned and lunged at the boy. They began to fight, each trying to over-power the other. Saria winced as her wrist hurt again. She covered the wrist further with her sleeve and went to stop the fighting. With strength never before displayed, she practicly ripped Mido off of Link. Link made it out with a few scrapes and Mido's sword. Mido had practicly no injuries. He stood just staring at Mido. Mido growled at him and threw a rock.
"Why don't you just get out you freak?!" He yelled. Link stepped back and fell. Mido threw another rock but it just barely missed the boy. Link stood on shakey legs and ran out of the meadow.
"Link..." Saria said...
Lost Woods Entrance...
Link stopped to catch his breath and looked back. He would probably never see his home again. It hurt. His heart felt heavy and he wiped his eyes. He turned to walk out of the forest when something stopped him.
"You're going...aren't you?" The female voice asked. Link turned to face his lifelong friend, Saria. He nodded and looked to his feet. Saria's Elven ears drooped in disappointment.
"I see...It's okay Link...you were always destined to leave the forest." She said. She held something out.
"Here. Take it. Play it and think of home..." She said. Link nodded. He turned to leave, but turned back around again.
"Thanks Saria...I'll come back someday." He said. He then ran out. Saria stood there after he had left. Her ears straightened out again. But her eyes were filled with saddness.
"Link...ten years ago we failed. It's our fault this happened. Do what we couldn't...don't let history repeat itself..." She whispered. Turning, she walked back into the village, never looking back...
