Chapter three: Reminiscence

(A/n: Another short but sweet chapter. Most of it contains flashback hence the title.)

Rin wiped the sweat from her father face for the third time that day. He wasn't healing as fast as they had expected but they had to go home soon. Kagura must be worry by now and it wasn't good for her or the pup.

"Father," Rin murmured as she traced one of his demon marks. He was just so handsome even when he was injured. Rin just hoped he would be better soon.

Rin smirked this reminded her of when they first met. She had been hiding from some of the villagers when she saw a bright light come crashing down in the forest behind her. She still didn't know why she followed that streak of light. It had to be fate. That's when she had seen him laid out on the grass. She was so sure he was dead by the look at his pale and bloodied body. Yet even then it was something very graceful about him almost exotic. Rin took a step closer she had to she him closer.

Then all too sudden his eyes flashed red and he let out a furious growl, which made Rin jump back in fright. She grasp out, `a demon.' She thought.

She never seen a demon before and hardly knew anything about them. `Had the villagers been mean to him too,' her young mind thought. That when she made it her duty to show a little kindness to the abuse demon. `I'm going to help him, maybe we can be friends,' she though.

Though he refused her help constantly and rudely told her to mind her own business; she just knew he didn't really mind her company. `He must be very lonely,' she decided. Once he even asked her how she had gotten the bruises that the villages had given her when she stole their fish. For that she kept visiting her demon friend.

That when the wolves came to her village. She had tried to get out the village as quickly and quietly as possible but they had spotted her. Her only thought was him!

She ran trying to look for her demon friend. Somehow she knew he would protect her but then she stumble over a tree root and it was over. Or so she thought. The next thing she knew he was holding her. He had given back her life! She knew he was her friend!

From then on she follow him throughout his adventures and he always kept her safe. Well almost always anyways. Little by little he became more than her friend he became a second father. He taught her how to fight and treated her like she was his own pup. Much to Jaken disproval, who finally warmed up to her during the past few years.

"Papa are you feeling better now," Rin whispered out as she brushed his silky silver stands from off his face. A faint smile graced Sesshomaru's face as he nodded.

Sesshomaru inhaled her sweet scent. She was the only human that he would ever love. It seemed so natural to have her around him. Which is why he never sent her back to her own people. Rin was melted his icy heart and brought joy of his life. Her childish antics amused him daily. He was proud now to call her his daughter.

Even after Kagura delivered their pup he wouldn't love Rin any less. She would always be the first pup in his heart. She had healed his wounds in more ways than one. She had shown him to enjoy the smaller than in life and that all humans were not created equal. She was the sun that Sesshomaru revolve around now.

If not for Rin he would still be beating the daylights out of his brother and be that big bed his all alone at night. "Maybe Kagura is alone," she had said to him once. How wise she was for a little girl. Kagura had been alone and abuse by bastard Naraku. That cocky wench was the perfect mate to suit him and he only had Rin to thank for it.

"Come live with us Kagura-san. Sesshomaru-sama will take of you," she had told Kagura the day Naraku had been destroyed. At first Sesshomaru acted annoyed by the extra company but Kagura soon beat the ice king at his own game. Before any of them knew it Kagura was Rin's new mommy and Sesshomaru had found the perfect mate.

He still remembered her smiling face beaming with glee. "Rin knew that you would fall in love with Kagura-chan," Rin had said hugging him around the waist.

The morning after had it's comical moments especially when Rin burst in their bedroom. "Why are you both sleeping naked? Can Rin sleep naked in here too," She asked with wide grin. Kagura immediately flew under the covers while Sesshomaru hid his nudeness with his boa. Sesshomaru face flashed red as Rin began to take off her clothes, as if join them.

"Stop Rin, Sesshomaru and I were just a little hot last night. Now go see if Jaken is awake," Kagura order from under the sheets.

The little girl nodded her head and left the room. Leaving a laughing wind sorceress and a shocked Sesshomaru still in bed.

"I can't believe she did that," he said.

" I can't believe how good you look when you're embarrassed," Kagura purred.

"This Sesshomaru is not embarrassed," Sesshomaru growled out pinning Kagura down and attacking her neck with his skillful tongue and fang.

"She's coming back," Kagura moaned out.

In a flash Sesshomaru was up and out of bed before Rin could enter; taking Kagura with him. "Mama, papa Jaken is awake," Rin said as she bounced in the room again carry a grumpy Jaken in her arms. "Jaken where did they go," Rin said as she cocked her head to the side.

Jaken sniffed the air and grasp. "What is it Jaken," Rin asked. "Methinks it best if we leave and set up for breakfast Rin-san," Replied the toad. "Kay," Rin said as she ran down the hall dumping Jaken on the floor.

"My life is so sad," Jaken said closing the door behind him.

Sesshomaru had to make a mental note after that he would have to tell Rin not to burst inside his room like that again. Though making love on the roof had it perks as well.

That memory would hold dear in his heart. Though everything about Rin he would hold dear till the end of her days. She would always be his little girl.

"Father are you listen to me," Rin asked making Sesshomaru snapped back to reality.

"Sorry," Sesshomaru said opening up his eyes.

"I'm going to get Ah-un we have to leave. I don't want mother to worry about us," Rin said.

Before she knew it she was in Sesshomaru warm embrace. Time seemed to slow down around them. She could listen to Sesshomaru's strong and beating heart forever it seemed. Breathing in his strong dominant scent that could only be described as the pure essence of Sesshomaru while his silver stands tickling her nose. This was the only the second time he held her as such.

"Rin you don't know how special you are to me," Sesshomaru whisper ever so faintly in her ears. It was moments like this that Rin would never forget. "You special to me too father," Rin whispered cuddling up against her father.

Sesshomaru allowed a smile to grace his lips. "Even when the pup is born, I will still treat you like my daughter," Sesshomaru said looking straight into Rin's warm honey colored eyes. Small tears started to form in her eyes. She hadn't doubted that Sesshomaru would treat her anything less but to hear him say it made her happy.

"I'm so luck to have such father," Rin said as Sesshomaru wiped her tears away.

That when they both noticed.

"Father look," Rin squeak out breaking the embrace.

Sesshomaru held out his newly grown left hand out and stared at it. His arm had been gone so long that he sometimes forgot he ever had one. Though it had been growing slowly each year but now it was back just like that.

"Must be the effect of that fairy's attack," Sesshomaru said calmly.

"You think she really was a fairy father," Rin asked.

"It is a possibility," Sesshomaru said.

"Why was she so violent? I always thought that fairies were gentle creatures," Rin said.

"Fairies can be a lethal as demons and wild beasts. They are not to be trusted and often play trick with both demons and humans," Sesshomaru explained.

"I see. Will we be having more trouble with them because of what we did," Rin asked in a worried voice.

"Most likely. I dealt with fairies once they're hard to defeat," Sesshomaru said.

"I'm sorry," Rin said.

"You did the right thing Rin," Sesshomaru said finally.

"Thank you father," Rin said.

"Come, let's go home now," Sesshomaru slowly getting up.

"Are you well enough," Rin asked.

"Of course," Sesshomaru said.

`That's my father,' Rin thought happily as she followed him out of the cave.

Ah-un was relieved to see both its master and his daughter rested and well. In a blink of an eye the trio was off for home. Sesshomaru held Rin closer to him as the fatigue girl fell asleep in his arms. `Fairy or not this Sesshomaru will protect his family,' Sesshomaru thought as he looked at Rin's sleeping from beside him.

{End}
