Sailor Moon Fan Fiction ❯ Alternate Destiny ❯ Trying to Let Go ( Chapter 6 )

Part 6: Trying to Let Go
*****
Raye gazed out over the city. It was over. Finally. The Negamoon had finally been defeated. Rubeus had been easy to defeat once they had discovered his weakness. After exploiting it, which had been the end of him, they had gone on to defeat Emerald, Diamond, and Wiseman. Sapphire had defected not long after the destruction of Rebeus, and was making a living with his own flower shop.
Raye couldn't help but smile bitterly. Just a month ago, Lita would have been over there everyday, trying to pick up a few tips on how she could start her own flower shop one day. But those days were gone. All of them were changing. Lita never no longer went gaga over every hunky guy she saw and didn't got a starry look when she thought of having her own restaurant and flower shop, Mina was no longer the happy-go-lucky Sailor V fan, Amy and Darien were withdrawling back into their shell of studying, and though she didn't like to admit it, Raye herself was withdrawling from the world herself. Life just didn't have the same meaning it did a month ago.
Luna and Artemis were trying to pretend that nothing had changed. They kept trying to keep the Scout meetings going, but more and more, the five of them were trying to stay busy. It was hard to sit in each other's presence and not remember what they had done. So they had taken to avoiding each other, and still managed to remain a formidable team against the Negamoon.
Perhaps it was time for her to honor at least one of Serena's wishes, Raye thought to herself as she watched the sun rise. Perhaps it was time to let go.

Amy, Mina, and Lita watched Raye as she watched the sun rise. They knew she had taken it the hardest when Serena had left. She had continued to attempt to take all the blame on herself, when in reality, they were all to blame. Serena had always supported them when they needed her, she had supported Raye's dream to be a priestess, Mina's to be an actress, Lita's to be a world class chef, Amy and Darien's to be doctors. What had they given her in return? They'd hurt her, never supported her, had never given her a chance to explain.
'Some friend's we were,' Mina thought bitterly.
'We are just a bunch of trash,' Lita raged inside.
'How could I have done such a thing,' Amy berated herself.
The three sighed sadly at the same time. They had to let go, but it was so hard. How could they move on when they didn't have their dearest friend with them?
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
Luna and Artemis sat not far away, looking up at the Moon, which was fading in the sunlight.
'Just like Serena faded from our lives,' Luna couldn't help but think.
'Why couldn't I have been more understanding,' Artemis couldn't help but wonder.
Curling up together, they both silently begged for the forgiveness of their long dead Queen for driving her daughter away, perhaps never to be seen again.
