The next day I was finally allowed to go home. In the driveway was a brand new Chevy Avalanche with a note and a set of keys on the front seat.

"This should cover the replacement of your sloppy jalopy, Alex, keep up the good work." I smiled and admired the new car for a while.

"Wow, where did this come from?" Mina's father, who had driven us to my place asked, also admiring the new SUV.

"A friend of mine, he invested in some of my inventions a while back." I said.

"Well, you tell him, that I said he must be one heck of a friend." I smiled and scratched my head.

"Well, he's also my insurance agent, my car was totaled in the accident that put me in the hospital."

"Well, this is a very nice substitute, don't you think?" He asked. I nodded and climbed in testing out the feel of the driver's seat. I then started the engine and listened to it for a minute, before shutting it off and shutting the door.

"Wow, I'm gonna have to put him in a higher position on my Christmas card list." I said. After Mina's dad came in and inspected the place, he set her suitcase down.

"Let me tell you something, Alex, there is no one better at caring for the injured than my daughter. You're in good hands, keep me posted on his condition." He said.

"Okay daddy, thanks for everything."

"Well, Mina honey, I don't mean to try and pawn you off or anything, but it looks to me like you've found a keeper." He replied smiling.

"Yeah, well, maybe someday." She replied.

"Then maybe you can have that dream wedding that you used to talk about." He smiled. We looked at each other knowingly and smiled.

"Well, I'm sure we'll come up with something when that day comes." I said. He nodded.

"You're a good man, Alex, Mina, you take care of him." He started to walk out. "And if you need anything at all, don't hesitate to ask."

"Okay, daddy, thanks again."

"No problem, honey, have fun you two." He smiled and left. Mina walked forward and wrapped me in a tight embrace.

"I love you, Alex." She said. "I wasn't really sure, until yesterday, when I saw you laying there all bandaged up with the cords...I thought you were gonna die." She said. "I don't want to have any regrets."

"Mina, honey, speak English, you're confusing the gimp." I said. I hobbled over to the couch, my leg was still really sore from the battle. She sat beside me and leaned over on my shoulder.

"Well, I was so mad when you never answered the phone or showed up to pick me up after class. But when I got home and my parents told me what happened as they were driving me over here, all I could think about was what if you died before I was sure I wanted to be with you forever? I mean, what if I discovered that I would be in love with you forever while you were on your deathbed, what if I didn't have time to tell you how I really feel?" She said. I just listened and stroked her hair gently as she talked. "Then I thought, there's really no words that explain how I feel." She said. Then she looked up at me and kissed me. "I don't want to have any regrets." She whispered again. In a nervous twitch I ended up falling onto the floor on my back. She smiled and chased me down, kissing me a lot harder and hungrier than usual. At first I resisted, thinking that it was probably too soon, but before I could even say a word, all sense of self control had vanished and I started kissing back. Her shirt went flying across the room landing on the television. She had just started to kiss me again, when I felt that someone was watching me. I looked up, and yelled in surprise when I saw the five faces firmly planted into the front window staring wide eyed at us. Mina turned and looked and quickly recovered. I climbed back to my feet and hobbled over to the door, checking myself for any necessary adjustments before opening the door.

"Um, hi guys, what's up?" I asked as calmly as possible.

"Um, actually, we were about to ask the same thing." Raye replied. "What, was that?" She asked. Mina jumped in front of me, blushing just as brightly as I was.

"Oh, his leg still hurts and , uh, he fell down, and uh, I was helping him back up." She said. Darien started smiling broadly.

"Yeah, that's always an occasion to start throwing clothes everywhere." He said turning to the others. "I told you, brownie point exchange day." We backed away and let them all come in. After the shock of the initial meeting had blown over, the atmosphere returned to it's normal density and with the obvious exception of Mina and myself the incident seemed to have been forgotten. We both seemed to go into auto-pilot throughout the rest of the time everyone was there, we very seldom took our eyes away from each other.

"Hello, Earth paging Alex Simpleton, anyone home?" Lita's voice snapped me back to reality momentarily. "She'll still be here when we leave tonight, I promise."

"Man, you two got serious really quick." Artemus said, I smiled and lit a cigarette.

"Well, something about near death experiences seems to remind you of what the really important things in life are." I replied. Artemus smiled.

"I'm sure you two will have a wonderful future together in Crystal Tokyo." He said. "The Captain of the royal guard and the obvious choice for a leader of any other militarized unit, seems like a winning combo to me."

"Agreed, something outside of mortal control seems to keep the two of you together. You have a reckless love, such an untamed format is often the dictionary definition of true love." Luna said. "Right next to the Prince and Princess, I think we can all agree that you two are the most likely couple we know."

"Definitely, most guys would be staring at her like she was four course dinner right now." Raye replied smiling. "At first I thought that's what you were doing, but there's something else there too."

"Okay, enough about us already." I said smiling. "It's like you guys are trying to push us up the aisle or something."

"Not yet, but if you don't get some really good bouncers for the ceremony, they will!" Darien said laughing.

"So I'm a sucker for happy moments." Lita said, smiling and blushing. The rest of the night was spent talking about past loves and the like. Finally everyone left and Mina and I locked the door and closed the curtains. Then she lead me downstairs, and, well, let me put it to you this way, it was the number one most memorable night of my entire life.
