(Flashback)
The rain pounded intensely against the glass windows. She stood anxiously waiting at the window praying to see his car pull in through the circle driveway. He promised to be back tonight. She remembered him telling her that he needed to do something important outside the house today. She knew it had to be urgent. For Darien never left his house unless he absolutely had to. He always said, “Being in your own terrain makes one know they're the ones in control.”She learned a lot from these past few months just being in the same house. Made her aware of whom he truly was. She knew he could take care of himself. But in the long run she came to care for him. She didn't know how it happened. It just did. And for some reason that feeling still scared her and she couldn't rationalize it.
She stood there for a moment gazing outside at the heavy rain pouring down. Wondering what else was happening outside aside from Mother Nature throwing a tantrum and all.
Without warning a crack of lightening struck and the thunder boomed so loudly.
She slightly jumped in apprehension and caught herself realizing it was still the storm raging outside. She forgot how much she hated thunderstorms. Sure she was a grown woman. But even she was allowed some childish fear. At that precise moment she saw a car pull into the circle driveway. Her heart leapt knowing Darien had finally returned.
She decided to stay and wait for him in her room. No point in running out to greet him since she knew he'd come looking for her anyways. He always did no matter what.
So she sat there calmly in the chair by the window just waiting. Like always she didn't have to wait long. The door opened and there he stood. He looked tired. She figured it must have been a long drive. He had been gone practically the entire day. His coal-black hair looked tousled and it slightly glistened in light. It probably got a bit wet from when he got out of the car. His clothes looked crumpled and a little damp. But still he looked the same as ever. He went over to where she sat on the chair and kneeled in front of her.
He placed his cold hand on her warm cheek and pulled her face to him. He kissed her lightly on the lips and pulled back than told her how much he had missed her.

When suddenly another bolt of lightening struck with a loud crack outside Serena jolted awake from lying down in her bed. She got up from her bed and walked towards the window. She looked outside her window to see that it was raining again.
It was nights like these that she had those damn flashbacks. Lightening struck again and she flinched. She was still afraid of lightening. She thought that after so long she would have gotten over it. But no she hadn't. Diamond sometimes teased her about it. But than Darien did the same thing. However with Darien it had always been different. He found out a person's weakest and used it against them. Darien had many in Serena's case.
For Darien it was a matter of control. And Darien had always been one to be in control.
Although, Serena would never admit that Darien had any control over her. As far, as she knew that Darien Walsh could never control her. He tried once and it had failed.
She still thought about him. Reluctantly at times of course, for she wished she could forget him. In every way possible she wished to forget. For every time she remembered something. It only brought back unwanted memories. Anything and everything made her life difficult to continue on. For every little thing brought back some sort of memory.
And she hated it. Every emotion that she felt drudged up some sort of link back to him.
Yes! It didn't matter what it was it always came back to him. It drove her insane.
She always wished she could move on. But something wasn't letting her.
With him she experienced everything. There was an intense passion that drove them. First it was desire, than it became love. But with love came the pain. With the pain came the misery. He brought her to life. He made her live. But in the end all he did was destroy her and she became nothing left but an empty shell. She gave Diamond credit for trying to comfort her. Although, she blamed him for some part of what she was feeling.
Of course, she would never say that to him. She assumed that he blamed himself for what happened anyways. Diamond was a good person. He cared for her. That's why she married him to begin with. But his rivalry with Darien in the business industry was always a problem. Serena had known it when she was going to marry him.
But she always thought that Diamond would be considerate enough to leave her out of his business life. As for, Darien he just wanted everything to go his way.
And taking down Diamond had been his lifetime goal. But Serena knew the biggest success he actually ever achieved. Was her. Darien knew if there was something that would ultimately bring Diamond down. Aside from losing his business of course would be the lost of the woman he loved. Darien did care for her. He just got lost in his grudge against Diamond that he forgot there was more than just business at stake.
He never meant to hurt her. But in the end that was what happened.
After two years. Nothing really changed aside from Serena wanting to forget Darien.
He was like a drug that even though she was with him for just a short while.
She became addicted to him and realized she needed him. Even after everything she went through. But at the moment Serena realized if she kept thinking about him it would only make her feel worse. So she decided to block it out and try to go back to sleep.
Maybe for once she'd be able too sleep in peace. Nevertheless she knew again in the morning she would remember what she was trying to forget. But until that moment came.
She just wanted to sleep.
