~Chap. 5: Light is found! Past memories do more than resurface. ~
The next day, Mihoshi woke up to see a cat sitting on her face.
"Eeeeeeeeeeeep!" Mihoshi screamed and threw the reddish-black cat
across the room. But there wasn't a thud of the cat hitting the floor.
Mihoshi sat up in order to see Naoko, holding up the cat. "Why'd you
throw Kiniko??" Naoko asked. Mihoshi rubbed the fur off her face. "Are
you kidding? Kiniko would have suffocated me!!" Mihoshi yawned.
"Anyways, what are you doing here?? It's only..." Mihoshi glanced at
the clock. "1 o' clock in the afternoon..." Mihoshi stifled a yawn,
rolled over and shoved a pillow over her head. Little did Mihoshi
notice that Rei Hino stood indignantly next to Naoko. Rei marched over
the bed, yanked the pillow off Mihoshi and yelled, "YOU DIDN'T EVEN
NOTICE...." Mihoshi looked up angrily as Rei continued, "THAT I WAS
HERE! NOW GET UP!!!" "Alright, alright..." Mihoshi pushed her covers
up and jumped out of bed. She stumbled over to the closet and pulled
out a Juuban High Uniform, just as Kasumi, who too dwelled by Naoko,
mentioned that they were skipping school and should dawn casual
clothes so no suspicion would arise. Mihoshi angrily shoved the
uniform back and instead pulled out a nice little black skirt, and a
long sleeved yellow sweater. By the time she was dressed, everyone was
downstairs and drinking soda, waiting for Mihoshi so that they could
travel to Rei's temple.
When Mihoshi was done, they traveled to the temple where they could
discuss "the secret," as Kasumi put it. All the way there, Naoko kept
asking them what "the secret" was. They just replied, "You'll see!"
"So.... why did you drag me out of bed, make me wake up and walk all
the way to a temple??" Mihoshi asked angrily as soon as they had
arrived. Kasumi whacked her in the head. "Why do you think? We have
IMPORTANT sailor business to discuss! That's why!!!" "Sailor business?
I don't get it," Naoko said. "I'm confused!!!" Mihoshi grinned. "Just
watch," she replied as she pulled out a pen and yelled "Darkness
power.... Make-UP!" Deep red ribbons of light encircled Mihoshi. They
hugged her body and took away her clothes. In place a long, black
sleeveless sailor uniform clung to her. Metal stars, a long crystal
necklace, and earrings all glittered into place. Kasumi followed suit.
Kasumi whipped out a pen and thrust it toward the sky. "Destiny
power.... Make-UP!!!" Kasumi closed her eyes and let the purple
colored lights wrap around her. The gray t-shirt and baggy jeans
vanished as a white leotard, jagged purple skirt, silver sailor
collar, white elbow-length gloves, and ankle high purple silver boots
formed on her body. Crystal earrings clicked onto her ears, a metallic
black link chain clasped around her waist, and a black choker and
golden tiara slid across her throat and forehead. The transformation
ended, and the lights faded. Sailor Destiny stood high into the air.
Rei grinned as she saw Naoko, just staring in awe. "Mars crystal
power...Make-UP!!!" Rei yelled, holding a pink stick with a little
crystal marble on it. Red light engulfed Rei. She opened her eyes,
even though the light was enough to blind one. Rings of fire swam
around her, and melted away her priestess robes. A sailor uniform slid
onto her body, just like the others'. A rippled red skirt connected to
her white leotard. A purple bow snapped onto her chest. Red star
earrings, red star choker, tiara, and red gloves slid on her body. She
closed her eyes and let her crimson high-heels click against the
floor. Three-sailor senshi stood before Naoko: Sailor Darkness, Sailor
Destiny, and Super Sailor Mars. They wanted Naoko to seem impressed,
or so it looked. But instead Naoko just smirked and mumbled, "So
you're senshi, too?" Darkness, Destiny, and Mars exchanged glances.
Naoko grabbed a pen out of her pocket and screamed, "Light
power...Make-UP!!!" The pen dissolved in a flash of orange light.
Naoko held her arms out to the side, and a gigantic spiral of bright
white light encircled her. Her outfit was washed away and replaced
with a white leotard. A long, ankle length golden skirt connected to
the leotard. A sailor collar connected to her shoulders, and a bright
pink bow clasped onto her breast. Wrist length gloves slid onto her
hands, and a tiara covered the sun-shaped symbol on her forehead. The
light died as the transformation was complete. "I was shocked when you
were transforming because Nicole and I were the people who let you out
of the cemetery." Naoko grinned. Darkness frowned. "Well, now that
we're all done showing off..." Rei and Kasumi laughed, "we can get
down to whatever business we have to take care of." The two girls
finished giggling and they all took a seat around a circular table.
"OK. Here's what happened," Rei began, "last night when I was
meditating. I got some weird vibes, you know? Not really BAD, but..."
Rei sighed. "I just don't understand what it means...." Mihoshi nodded
and began to think. "What was it like?" Kasumi asked. Rei tried to
explain. "It was kinda like...well, I.... uh...I saw the time gates,
you know? And Sailor Pluto wasn't there, so we could get through.
And.... well... someone...can't remember who...went to the past, but
something went wrong. And that's all I remember...." Mihoshi got a
sudden idea. `Maybe,' she thought, `I could go through the gates and
stop Satoshi from dying! That would be the greatest!' But she decided
to keep silent about her idea. No one understood how she felt. `They'd
try and stop me.' Mihoshi frowned. "No one is going to stop me from
getting him back," she mumbled. "Well," Naoko offered, breaking the
silence, "maybe it means that an enemy is going to the past and they
will mess it all up and stuff like that." Rei shrugged. "I don't think
so. I guess we'll just have to wait and see." "I've been getting
chills down my spine all day...Do you think somethin' bad is gonna
happen?" Kasumi asked anxiously. "Me too," Mihoshi broke in. Rei just
shrugged again. "I'll do some more meditation tonight though," she
said, "and then maybe I'll know."
They had said their goodbyes, and each went to their own homes.
Mihoshi had arrived at 2715 Kiyone road, and she silently inserted the
key inside the lock. Mihoshi slammed the door shut as soon as she got
inside. The lights were down, but she didn't bother turn them on. She
had been thinking about meeting Satoshi again, and didn't bother with
anything else. Even though it had only been about 3 months since he
died, there wasn't a day that went past she wasn't thinking of him.
Mihoshi ran upstairs to her parent's old bedroom. Underneath a rug,
there was a small trapdoor. She pushed off the rug, yanked open the
door, and looked inside. Mihoshi found a small binder, and she
tenderly pulled it out of the hole, and then hid the door once she was
finished. She grabbed the binder then plopped down on the old bed
thick with dust. Turning on the lights by clapping, she took a look at
the cover. It was deep purple velvet, encrypted with the golden words
"Mihoshi's album." Mihoshi took a deep breath, and then looked inside.
It was a photo holder. Mihoshi ignored everything else as she stared
inside every smiling face, every hugging body. The phone rang. Mihoshi
ignored it. The doorbell rang about 20 minutes later. Mihoshi ignored
that. She moved slowly from page to page, savoring every picture. Her
mother, Yugi Akotchima, grinned back at her from one picture. Her
father, Kagato Akotchima, was in another, playing with the baby
Mihoshi. Mihoshi stared for about an hour at 1 certain picture. It was
her 13^th birthday party. Everyone was having a nice time. In the
center of the picture was Mihoshi and Satoshi, kissing. They looked
like the world was theirs, and that they didn't have a worry in it.
`But now those days are over,' Mihoshi thought sadly. She gasped as
she turned the last page. She began to cry as she looked into
Satoshi's face. That picture was taken the day before he died.
The next day, Mihoshi stayed home from school. Naoko, Makoto, and
Kasumi waited for her at the bus stop, but she never came. "I wonder
if something's wrong...." Naoko said, checking her watch. "Yeah, and
she didn't answer the phone when I called yesterday," Makoto worried.
"Or when I went over to check on her." Kasumi glanced up at the sky.
Makoto's eyes widened. "You don't think she died, do you?" Naoko shook
her head in response. "And how would she have died?"
Meanwhile, at Mihoshi's home, she was waiting for the bus to come and
go, so she could make her way to Juuban Elementary without the girls
seeing. Chibi-Usa was there, and so, Mihoshi was thinking, she could
get the Time Key from her. Finally, the bus came, and so Mihoshi
pulled out her coat and ran out the door. She arrived at the school,
and calmly walked in. A teacher stopped her. "I'm sorry, but I have to
know why you need to see the children," the lady said. "I need to see
Chibi-Usa Tsukino. I promise I won't be long," Mihoshi stared at her
black shoes and waited. The lady looked her up and down. "Well, you
don't look dangerous, I guess you can see her for a little while."
Soon after, Mihoshi was making her way home happily, with the Time Key
in her hand. She calmly walked past her home and down to the deserted
forest. There was a brook there, in the middle of the forest, thereby
making it an ideal place to teleport. But on the way through the
forest, she tripped over a branch and dropped the key. "Oh crap,"
Mihoshi breathed as she shuffled through the brush, trying to find it.
Finally, she found it hidden inside a bunny hole, but it took her
about an hour to find it. This time, on the way down to the brook, she
clasped the purple key in her hand so tight, she felt like the key
might be dissolving. She stood on the dock, waiting for a second.
Then, she held up the key and yelled to the forest:
"Guardian of Time, Let the Door of Time split the Heavens and open to
me . . .
I call you by your true name.
The all-knowing God of Time, the Father of the Guardian . . .
Chronos! Lead me!
Protect me! Send me the path of light!"
The water glowed a pink color. Wind blew and rustled the brown, fallen
leaves. Mihoshi was raised high into the air, and in the next instant,
she was gone.
"Eieeeeee!!!!" Mihoshi went falling through the air. She was lost in
the spiral of golden light and loud wind. Finally, the falling
sensation waned and the spiral righted her, so that she landed
perfectly on the dock where she had just taken off. The only
difference was that this was about 3 months back, to the day Satoshi
died. Mihoshi placed the time key in her pocket and started running
through the woods. Finally, she was through and ran out to the spot on
the street where she met Satoshi that fateful day. Waiting, eventually
she saw herself, chasing Satoshi through a crowd. "Satoshi-kun,
wait!!!" Old Mihoshi yelled. Satoshi was just about to get away, when
he turned around. Old Mihoshi caught up to him, then said,
"Satoshi-kun, you can't go out today." Satoshi grinned and said, "Oh,
and why not?" That was when Mihoshi interrupted their conversation.
Satoshi frowned. "Who are you? You look an awful lot like Mihoshi over
here..." He nodded to his partner. Old Mihoshi circled Mihoshi.
"Yeah...you look EXACTLY like me! Are you related to me? My last
name's Akotchima, what's yours?" Old Mihoshi asked. "Akotchima,
Mihoshi. I know this'll sound odd, but I AM you," Mihoshi grinned at
the look on Satoshi and Mihoshi's face. Old Mihoshi looked indignant
and placed her hands on her hips. "And do you have any proof of
this??" Mihoshi frowned. "Ummm.... Lemme see...." Mihoshi searched
through her pockets and finally found her school ID. She flashed it at
her old-self. Old Mihoshi looked horrified and flashed her ID too.
Satoshi, however, just grinned and took a closer look at Mihoshi.
"Well, how come you're a clone of Mihoshi?" Mihoshi then began to
explain.
Satoshi shrugged. "So I die? That's semi-odd...how did I die again?"
Mihoshi sighed. "You get hit by a car. And I'm here to tell
you...well...not to get hit by a car, I guess..." Old Mihoshi grabbed
Satoshi. "I wouldn't be able to live if you'd die! From now on, I'm
not gonna let you out of a room with out telling you how much I love
you..." She then broke into hysteric sobs. Satoshi patted her on the
back. "It's OK...I won't die now...alright?" Mihoshi brushed her hair
over her shoulder and smiled. "Well, I guess that takes care of that
mat...." She was interrupted as what appeared to be a flaming bullet
slammed into her back.
