Telling You the Truth

 

Seto opened his eyes to see that he was at his house in his bed. He realized that he was shirtless with wrappings over his chest. He saw a light blood stain seeking through the cloth. He sat up to see if anyone was there, but there wasn't a single soul. He looked on his side to see fresh picked roses. He smiled when he realized they were from Hotaru. He lightly touched the petals of one of the roses.

“Your awake,” he looked up to see Hotaru holding a wash cloth. She was wearing the same shirt that he gave her. It was still big on her, but she seemed so beautiful to him. She was also wearing some jeans that danced on the ground when she walked.

“Yes, what happened?” he asked as she sat on the edge of his bed.

“You saved me,” she said as she lightly touched the injury on his chest.

“Oh yeah,” he said as he lay back down to see Hotaru have tears in her eyes. He raised an eye brow when he saw this.

“You should probably get some sleep,” Hotaru said wanting to leave the room before the tears that were threatening to fall would be able to see.

“Hotaru…wait,” he said as he caught the back of her head.

“Huh?” she asked as Kaiba looked at her.

“ Hotaru, I know after what I said, you probably aren't going to forgive me, but please, please try! Because I think I'm…”he didn't know how to say it. How could he? And why would she care? It's not like she was attractive to him anyway so why bother?

“Yes?” Hotaru asked as she leaned in.

“Never mind,” he said as he let go of her.

“What is it?” she asked as she got up and looked at him.

“Nothing…” he said as he looked out the window.

“Seto, this guy wants me to marry him. I hope you know that,” she said as she tried to walk out of the room, but Kaiba caught her wrist.

“What?” he asked.

“You heard me! He wants me to marry him!” Hotaru yelled with tears falling now.

“I won't let him,” Kaiba whispered catching the back of her head again as he sat up, leaning against the wall.

“How can you stop him?!” she yelled as Kaiba looked at Hotaru's violet eyes. He remembered the first time he saw them. So scared, but beautiful in a way. He remembered taking her to the park remembering how much light those eyes held when she laughed.

“I stopped that damn sword, didn't I?” he asked as he looked at Hotaru's lips.

“You almost died!” she said as Kaiba remember what she whispered to him when she healed him. `My love' that's what she said.

“Hotaru…when you healed me you said I was your love,” Kaiba said as Hotaru looked at him.

“I wasn't thinking,” she said as she blushed lightly.

“So you didn't mean it?” he asked letting the hurt on his face show.

“It's not that I didn't mean it…it was just that I didn't mean it in that way!” Hotaru said noticing how his once icy blue eyes seemed to soften.

“Hotaru…I promise that I will protect you,” he said as Hotaru looked at him.

“How will you do that?” she asked as Kaiba smiled.

“I'll seal my promise,” he leaned into her neck and kissed it. Hotaru's eyes widen when she felt his lips on her neck. She felt Kaiba lightly bit down on her skin just to leave a little mark. He pulled away to see Hotaru blushing a bright red. (I got this idea from a scene in Ceres Celestial Legend. I even drew this scene! As fanart)

“And I promise to protect you,” Hotaru said as she kissed his neck. Leaving the same mark on his neck.

“Hotaru…” he whispered as he pulled her away from his neck and kissed her on the lips.
