Love Everlasting-Reception Surprise
Scene 1-Good Wishes
When Lita entered the hotel she immediately went into her second role as caterer. As the rest of the wedding party got set up on the dais in the front of the room, she checked in with her staff and the hotels waiting staff. She told them they could start serving in approximately 30 minutes right after the best man finished giving his toast. As she was making her way back to the reception room she saw the Star Lights walk in. She paused giving them a small smile them continued on her way to the dais. She wasn't sure she was happy they were here but right now she had more pressing matters to worry about. She had to give a toast too. She sat and tried to calm her nerves. She watched as the last of the people made their way in, talking and finding their seats. She glanced to her immediate left at Mina, she was gazing at Andrew as if he was the only person in the room. They still held hands and Lita doubted that they cared that they were surrounded by almost 200 people. Darien caught her eye as the newly married couple leaned in for a kiss and signaled to her to get the ball started. She nodded, swallowed the lump in her throat and grabbed the microphone in front of her, standing up. She hadn't rehearsed what she would say, hell she hadn't had time. As she looked at the two still in an escalating kiss, she knew exactly what she would say.
“Excuse me ladies and gentleman, may I have your attention.” She waited as the crowd settled down and nudged Mina's chair to get the blushing brides attention. A few chuckles were heard in the crowd as the two broke apart. “You've all gathered here today to celebrate the joining of the two previously kissing people on the side of me.” More laughter, as Lita turned to look directly at her two friends. “Today is a special day indeed, for two of my best friends have joined together in marital bliss. I have known Mina for a long time and we have shared many things. I can't count how many nights we spent talking about the perfect man and it warms my heart that she finally found hers. I've watched these two fall deeper in love over the last six years and the look in their eyes now only confirms what I knew all along. I can honestly say I've never seen so much passion in two people before. It is with a sincere heart that I wish them both a long and lasting union. To Mina and Andrew!” Lita raised her glass and everyone toasted and clapped. The happy couple took this as another chance to kiss as Lita sat back down and re-hooked the mike.
“Oh brother!” Darien said hastily grabbing the mike in front of him and standing up. “Let me hurry before these two get started again. Let me start by saying I remember the day Andrew sat in my apartment and told me he had the hots for Mina. We were both shocked and Andrew his self was in disbelief. But as I looked at my best friend bouncing off the walls with repressed excitement and a light in his eyes I had never seen and I knew he was for real. I encouraged him to go for it, to see where it would lead. I'm so glad you took my advice for once.” The crowd laughed and Darien smirked. “But seriously I never imagined it would lead to a wedding today. I too have watched you guys over the years and have been amazed at what I saw. You two complete each other in a crazy way. It's very clear to me that without the other you wouldn't be the same. You have helped each other become the wonderful people you are. Though I'll miss you Andrew as you join the ranks of a married man, I wish you both nothing but happiness! Now it is my honor to introduce you all to Mr. and Mrs. Motoki!” Everyone cheered and raised their glasses for another toast and the wait staff appeared from no where and started quickly and efficiently serving the food. The celebration had officially begun.
Scene 2-The Reception
Everyone ate, talked and laughed as the evening went on. The tables were set in a three sided square around the dance floor in the middle. It was a lively crowd comprised of friends and family and the rich and famous. There were many lawyers from Andrew's old practice and his current clients. Andrew was a entertainment lawyer and represented Mina along with various celebrities in different feilds. His firm dealt in show business and contracting law. The whole cast from Mina's day time soap was there. Currently her show was called “Le Femme Fatals”. She played one of the more popular women on the show by the name of `Andrea'. Directors and other actors she had met and befriended form her smaller roles in movies were also in attendance. Mina's career had been heating up in the last year and was only going to get hotter. So the crowd was filled with interesting and exciting people. After around 45minutes Mina and Andrew made there way to the dance floor to have the first dance. The couple glided across the floor as Mina held her long train in one hand. They looked like a couple in a fairytale and the crowd was entranced. When they finished the crowd clapped and the dancing started all around. As the plates were being cleared away people begin to mingle as they sipped more champagne. People danced while others around them talked business or about nothing at all. Lita made her way around and was pleased to hear compliments about the food. Mina had insisted that a card advertising “Jupiter” had been placed at each table so people knew who had catered the event. Lita was pleased at the way everything was progressing. She watched the Star Lights as they mingled with ease. Hmmm, they would be use to this type of crowd. It was odd seeing them here. Each time she had imagined this day they had never been present in her head. It was obvious by everyone's reaction in the limo that no one knew they were coming. Though Lita had her suspicions about how and why they were here. For now she'd keep them to herself, she thought as some lady asked her about a reception for thirty she was thinking of hosting in a month.
Sammy walked over to stand next to Hotaru who had her arms crossed under her breasts and looked bored again.
“Is that the only expression you know?” He asked dryly. She didn't even bother to look at him as she answered.
“It seems to be the only one, when you're in the room.”
“Hey I thought we'd called a truce.”
“So did I.” Hotaru said. In truth she was irritated because she was slightly uncomfortable in the revealing and mature dress. More then a few men had been looking her way and it was creeping her out. She wasn't used to getting so much attention from the opposite sex, since she rarely dressed this provocatively.
Sammy stared at the younger girl as a slight frown turned up on her face. Did he really get on her nerves that bad? He was just trying to be sociable since she was standing over here looking as if she'd rather be any where else in the world. She was to uptight for a kid her age she needed to loosen up.
“Hey Hotaru can I share something with you.” Hotaru turned puzzled at his lowered voice.
“What? That you know how to touch your nose and chew gum at the same time?”
“No…but I can do that.” Hotaru snorted then furrowed her brows, she didn't like the way he was looking at her so deeply. “Did anyone ever tell you Hotaru how
sexy…your mother is?” Hotaru almost let her jaw drop. For a minute she had been sure that he was about to refer to her.
“What!”
“It's true you know. You really have a MILK.”
“And just what is a MILK.” Hotaru asked annoyed that he was talking about her mother.
“A “mom I'd like to kiss”, you know like in American Pie the movie.”
“Humph, I don't think the last letter was a K in that movie.” Now he wiggled his eye brows at her.
“Well, if your mom is into that kind of thing, I'd like to do that to!” Hotaru's eyes flashed.
“You are such a pig.” She huffed about to walk away. He only laughed and giving her no choice grabbed her by both hands and dragged her onto the dance floor.
“Lighten up, I was just joking…kinda. You need to learn to live a little.”
“And you need to shut up if you want to live longer.” Hotaru mumbled under her breath, before being swept away in the dance.

Serena was a wreck of conflicting emotions. She was extremely happy for Mina but couldn't quite push out the fact that Seiya was here…feet away from her. She felt his energy with every step she took. She had avoided…so far, not coming in contact with him, and she planned on keeping it that way. Luckily, she was kept busy by the fans who recognized her face. She chatted with the amusing people who shared Mina's world and mingled. After a while she made her way over to her mother and father.
“Mom, dad so what do you think so far?”
“The wedding was lovely.” Her father said giving her a brief smile though his attention was diverted elsewhere.
“Yes,…lovely.” Her mother replied quietly, she too was staring off in the distance. Serena followed their gazes and saw that they were looking at Kakyuu and Seiya talking to another couple.
“Mom…dad-“
“That is him…isn't it Serena?” Her mother asked cutting her off.
“Yes…it is.” Her mother nodded and her father just got tight lipped.
“And who is that with him…is she the reason…he left?” Her mother hesitantly asked. Serena couldn't help but laugh and that got them both to look at her.
“That's funny. How to answer that? Well yes and no.” Serena leaned in closer to them, lowering her voice. “That woman with him is a Princess like me. She is the Princess of the Star Lights home planet Kinmokusei.”
“Oh?” Her parents said blinking at her.
“And she is not his lover…well as far as I know…not that it matters to me.” Serena finished lamely now all three looked back over at the two and saw that Seiya was no longer present. However, they looked over just in time for Kakyuu to catch Serena's eye. The princess from the other side of the galaxy smiled at her and Serena returned it, squaring her shoulders.
“Look mom and dad…its okay that Seiya is here…I'm okay. I need to go pay my respects to Princess Kakyuu. Promise me you two will stay on your best behavior.” They nodded but her mother looked worried as she watched her daughter walk across the room.
//
“Princess Kakyuu, what a pleasure it is to see you.” Serena said hugging the other woman, who returned her hug tightly.
“Same here Princess Serena. I am very happy to be in your presence.” Serena nodded then leaned close to Kakyuu's ear.
“I think we should cut out the princess talk for now, someone might over hear us.”
“Right.” They smiled at each other as Serena backed away.
“Though it's a pleasure I must say it was certainly a surprise to see you today.” Serena said lightly. Kakyuu showed nothing on her face but Serena's comment confirmed her suspicions. It also made her glad she had come.
“Yes, well who can resist a wedding! What a wonderful wedding it was, I'm enjoying my self very much.”
“Weddings are always nice. I'm glad you're enjoying yourself and of course you are always welcomed here.” Now Kakyuu looked at her seriously.
“Am I Serena?”
“Yes, you are, always. I told you that six years ago and I'm repeating it again.” Serena gave her a sincere smile and Kakyuu nodded glad to see the truth in Serena's eyes.
“Thank you. So how have you been?” What a loaded question Serena thought.
“Very well, thank you for asking.”
”That well…huh.” Kakyuu let rarely used sarcasm enter her voice. It caught Serena's attention and made her blue eyes harden.
“Yes…well enough to draw breathe everyday…to live. I think you would agree that's a very important thing to do.”
Kakyuu never lost her smile but her eyes also got serious. “It's very important…it's also a very hard thing for some people to do…I commend you.”
“Well one must do what they must do.” Serena said with finality, making it clear that this topic was over. Darien who was the closest to her (15 feet away) felt the spike in her energy and in her mood change and made his way over to the two. Their connection had gotten even closer over the years. He could sense her feelings almost as easily as Rei.
“I see.” And Kakyuu did see. Serena was still hurting…Serena had changed…a lot. “Well, I won't keep you from your bridesmaids duties. I look forward to talking to you later. We have much to discuss.” Kakyuu gave her hand a squeeze and was surprised to see Darien appear on Serena's left side.
“Princess Kakyuu, why don't you look lovely tonight.” Darien charmed, taking her hand and bringing it up to his lips for a kiss. Kakyuu couldn't help but blush at the sudden contact. Serena grinned amused at Darien's effect on the ever calm princess.
“Darien, me and Kakyuu decided to drop the Princess bit for the night.”
“Really, but I like the Princess with her name, it fits her so well.” Kakyuu blushed more, for Darien still had her hand and was looking at her strangely. “Serena you wouldn't mind if I stole her away for a dance would you. It's not everyday I get to dance with a princess of such beauty.”
“Be my guest.” Serena said barely stopping a chuckle as Darien led the speechless princess to the dance floor. Serena let out a breath she didn't know she was holding, and silently thanked Darien for coming to her rescue.
Scene 3-Old and New Beginnings
Amara felt like a live wire. Despite what Serena had said and the all the happy people around her, she was still pissed and on alert at the Star Lights presence. Trista's warnings kept ringing through her ears, plus this damn dress was really getting on her nerves. If one more guy made a pass at her they were getting knocked out. She stood at a side bar, her back to a crowd as a waiter refilled her champagne glass. She felt him approach and called out.
“Stop right there.” The person did as they were told, as the waiter continued to pour.
“Are you sure you should have that? Last time I checked you couldn't handle your liquor.” Amara didn't comment until she turned around to face Yaten.
“Things change.” She said flatly taking a sip as she ran her eyes over him. He was taller now, as tall as her even in her heels. His silver hair was cut at the nape and hung in a careless shag. His face was hairless except for the slim goatee he sported from his chin. He stood as she remembered. Hands in his pockets portraying someone who was bored and could care less about was going on around them. Amara knew better then to believe what her eyes saw.
“They certainly do.” Yaten said as he appraised her also, taking in the shape hugging dress. Amara let him look then smirked and took another sip.
“Don't believe everything you see.” She warned quietly.
“I never do.” He said cockily and they stared each other down. Finally Yaten shrugged and gave her a grin.
“Hey is this anyway to greet a long lost friend.” Amara actually grinned at his comment.
“I thought I was doing a pretty good job. After all I haven't snapped your neck yet.”
“Yeah, I'm a little surprised by that.” Yaten said letting out a real laugh. “Who do I have to thank for that small miracle?”
Now Amara's eyes became very serious. “The fact that its Mina's wedding and that Serena expressly told me not to.”
“I see.” Yaten said just as seriously.
“Good. Pass it on and stay out my way. I'm in a real pissy mood.” Then suddenly she smiled at him, a real one. “These damn shoes are killing me.” With that she walked off and Yaten was left with a half grin on his face. He took the underlining threat from her seriously. Strangely though he felt invigorated by their verbal sparring, things hadn't changed that much after all. He turned and walked away with a smile.

Rei, forever the business woman was one of the many people trying to conduct business in the mist of the celebrations. She handed out business cards and had promises of two new business dealing. If those came through it would look wonderful on her resume. She already had the largest over sea's contracts on a junior level. Little did she know she was being watched by a pair of brown eyes as she made her way through the room. Chad saw her finish up and approached her before she started dealing with someone else.
“Always working huh?” Rei turned around and frowned at Chad, before shrugging.
“Same as you.”
“No…not the same as me at all.” Chad said shaking his head. Rei bristled on the inside at his comment. Just what in the hell did he mean by that?
“Really…why is that?” She asked falsely sweet.
“Because all work and no play makes Rei a dull girl.”
“Oh that's right. I forgot you believe in all play and no work. Can't say I blame you after all, who has time to work when you have groupies to attend to.” Rei gave him a fake smile as she delivered the words expecting to see him get angry. Chad knew bait when he saw it. It was one of the first things he'd learned in the rock star world. He decided not to bite this time and merely laughed.
“Same old Rei.” He sat the glass he had been holding on a near by table. “Why don't we go have a dance?”
“I'd rather not.” Rei said and sniffed turning her head in indifference.
“What? Are you afraid of one little dance?” Now it was Chad who threw out the bait and from the flare in Rei's eyes, she was gonna bite.
“Please don't flatter your self.” She sat down her own glass, and then turned back to him. “Come on I'll let you step on my toes.” She said before stalking off to the floor, expecting Chad to follow.
“Same old Rei.” Chad said with affection in his voice. Then he followed her…like he always did.
On the dance floor he pulled her close. Rei didn't say anything but she did object by stepping on his foot with her heel.
“Ouch. Okay point taken.” Rei smiled as he backed up.
“See…you're not so dimwitted after all.”
“I'm not so sure. I was stupid enough to try and be nice to you…when everyone knows you don't have a heart.” Rei's smile widened though in reality his comment really hurt. But she would fry in the devil's kitchen before she admitted that to him.
“True…but I thought you were more concerned with a woman's breast size these days then in her heart?” Chad had briefly regretted his harsh remark…until she opened her mouth again. He twirled her into a fancy dip that allowed him to bend over her body. He brought her up slowly, watching her eyes get hot with anger before he answered her.
“Your right. See how well we still know each other. So what are you now anyway? A 36C?” He asked smiling suggestively.
“Actually I'm a 38C.” Rei said between the snarl she was passing off as a smile.
“Oh really…well I'm used to larger…you know with the groupies and all. But I'm willing to work with what you've got for old times sake.” Rei would have slapped him silly if she had a couple of more drinks in her and wasn't in front of potential clients. Instead she came closer and stepped on the same foot as before but this time grinded her heel into it.
“Go fuck your self Chad.” She said into his ear and she jerked back to storm away. He stopped her through and jerked her back close.
“Remember Rei I don't need to. That's why I have willing groupies 24/7 to do it for me.” He said huskily in her ear. He was pissed off and turned on by her behavior. “But if you get that stick out your ass and change your mind they'll be a spot in line just for you”. He finally released her and she stepped back from him, only to give him her ultimate fuck you smile and walked away with out another word.
Rei was furious and would have probably screamed if it hadn't been for one of her earlier prospects asking her another detailed question as she came off the dance floor. The hell with Chad. She hoped he limped for a week.
Chad shook his head as he watched Rei's lovely backside disappear in the crowd, then felt a slap on his back. It was Ron a member of his band who was already drunk off his ass.
“Ah, I see Rei is still to hot for you to handle.”
“No more like to cold. Fuck it and fuck her. Let's go get another drink.” Chad replied pulling his friend off the floor as he limped a little.
//
Ami was still working on her first glass of champagne. She refused to have a repeat of last night. Besides there was to much going on for her brain to be addled. She mingled and talked with the rest of the crowd. Really though she wanted to be at home…in bed…with the covers thrown over her head. She wanted to pretend that today didn't happen. Well everything except Mina getting married, that part she would keep. Ami knew it was useless to fantasize, after all she was grounded in logic. Keeping that in mind she hadn't been trying to ignore Taiki, at least she didn't think so. Besides she had no reason too…they were good friends. Good long, long distance friends. But now he was here and everything seemed different. Her feet just didn't seem to take her in Taiki's direction. She gave her finally empty glass to a passing waiting and turned bumping into none other then the man on her mind himself.
“Oh, I'm sorry.” She said flustered reaching up to brush a stray strand of hair from her face. Taiki watched her face and for a moment said nothing.
“No problem, I think it was my fault.” It had been his fault, he had purposely stood behind her. He had been itching to talk to her…his friend.
“Never mind.” Ami said. “It's very good to see you. How have you been.” Taiki tilted his head and looked at her strangely for a moment. So this was the way she was going to play it. Polite but distance…he wasn't sure he liked that. An idea came into his head and he went with it. Grabbing her hand he tugged.
“Come dance with me and we'll catch up.”
“What? I don't know.” Ami's semi protests went unheeded as she was ushered to the floor and he grabbed both hands entwining their fingers. He smiled at her and she felt a wave of something wash over her and tried to cover it up with talking. “Uh, so how have you been? It was a real surprise seeing you here today.”
“Was it Ami? Of course it was, I'm sorry. Though you know you wouldn't have to ask either of those questions if you had written me three months ago like you were suppose to. What happened?” Ami had the grace to blush. She opened her mouth to apologize then closed it.
“True…but I didn't see any letter show up on my doorstep either. You know how to pick up a pen. For all you knew I could have been somewhere dead.”
“Never say that Ami.” He said seriously. “But your right I could have written. But for the last six years we've had a system. You write then I write. I sent my letter to you six months ago…it was your turn.”
”I know…I'm sorry.” Ami tried to look anywhere but his eyes, as she partially lied to him. “It's just things have been so hectic lately. Remember I told you that last time I wrote. I hate to say it, but I guess I just forgot.” Taiki didn't know if he bought that or not. Ami never forgot something that was important to her…unless he wasn't important anymore?
“I see.” They were silent and focused on the dance for a while. Taiki took this time to study her since she was avoiding his eyes. She had let her hair grow out about an inch longer then it had been last time he'd seen her. It was either the dress or his brain that made her shape look more plush. Either way he liked it. He relaxed and just let his senses take her in. It was then that he noticed it. The hard cold metal pressed in-between his own fingers. He glanced to their left and looked at their hands and to say he was surprised to see what he saw would be like saying an atom bomb only makes a tiny noise…right a very big understatement. His eyes narrowed and every muscle in his body stiffened as he turned his eyes back to her.
Ami felt the change in him and saw where his gaze was leaving right before their eyes met. Her eyes widened as she saw the look of disbelief on his face.
“Ami…that's an engagement ring on your finger isn't it?” He asked his voice sounding as curious as a five year old's.
“Yes.” She squeezed out, sounding like a thief caught red handed.
“Right…is it possible that the ring has anything to do with why you were to busy to write me.”
“Possibly…probably.”
“Right…so when did this happen?”
“Well let's see…I've been engaged for three months.” She said as if she was telling him the weather.
“Right…three months…so who are you engaged to? Isn't this kind of sudden? I mean the last person you told me about was Marc but you guys haven't even known each other a year.” His voice was more accusing now. He knew for a fact it hadn't been a year. He remembered vividly her writing him about meeting Marc on her birthday last September.
“Well it is Marc. We…he felt we were ready.” Ami felt as if she had suddenly lost every brain cell and was dumber then a fly. She couldn't think of anything to say. Any way to explain?
“Right…so when is the big day?” Taiki was trying to remain cool, calm and collected but was finding it rather hard as his brain felt like exploding.
“Uh, in about seven more months, haven't set an exact date yet. I think…I mean we will very soon though.” Taiki couldn't think of anything else to say…so he said the one thing he hadn't said yet that he figured he should have.
“Well congratulations are in order then. I hope I'll be invited to the big event?”
“Of course you will Taiki. That's another reason I was waiting to write to you, I wanted to give you all the info at once.” Ami was appalled at how easily the lie came out of her mouth.
“Right…” Taiki shut his mouth…what else was there to say? Luckily the song was coming to an end, so their awkward silence didn't last long. When it ended they broke apart but he found that he was still holding her left hand. The hand with the ring on it. He looked her in the eyes and she blushed.
“Well, it was good seeing you in person again Ami.”
“You too Taiki. It really was.”
“I'll let you get back to the party.” He let her hand drop and took a step backward. “I'll look forward to your next letter then…you know the one with the date and all.”
It was finally her turn to say it. “Right.” She said weakly as he walked away. She stood there a moment and realized she was absently twisting her ring. She walked off the dance floor on a heavy sigh and grabbed a new flute of champagne as a waiter went by.
“Why the fuck not.” She said out loud. “I deserve another after that.” She didn't know why she felt guilty, after all she didn't owe him an explanation. She didn't owe him anything.

Serena tossed her hair over her bare shoulder as she stood on the edge of a group, listening to their conversation. Suddenly she turned to the right and saw him coming. His every step with a purpose. It seemed as if the crowd knew and he effortlessly made his way over to her. Her eyes locked with his as his last few steps brought him to her. Neither said a word. After a few seconds he reached out a hand and she took it without thought. He led her out to the dance floor and they shared a dance. The song was slow, but they didn't stand close… didn't dare. In fact only their hands touched, their eyes still connecting as their feet moved to the steps. They were looking at each other…not that it mattered. Both of their faces and eyes were expressionless, made that way with years of practice.
Seiya had called his self every kind of idiot in the book as he had strode over to her. He had watched her all night…avoiding him, as he avoided her. Even so his eyes seemed drawn to her like a magnet and he always knew where she was at in the room. He'd had no other choice but to seek her out. He had told his self that he was only coming over to talk to her, to be civil. But when he had reached her he hadn't been able to say a word…so he'd reached out a hand. He hadn't known what he'd expected as he'd looked in her blank blue eyes. Now she was so close to him…but so far away. She looked the same…on the outside. Her hair was as he'd remembered and so was her face. She had grown three inches taller in six years and her curves had blossomed nicely making her all woman…other then that she was the same…on the outside. It was inside where he knew there were changes. The Serena he'd known couldn't be this cold for so long. Her eyes had been the windows to her soul. Now they were void and seemed to keep everything out. He had watched her tonight and she had been graceful, mature, charming and…cold. Where had the warmth gone? The spark of life? Speaking of life…had he just felt a heartbeat of his own?
Serena could feel every scouts eyes on them…watching every move…every step. She instantly blocked all their vibes. She couldn't afford to deal with any of them at the moment. She looked at him without really looking and noticed the differences. His hair was still the same but it framed a different face. His face and shoulders were boarder filled in by manhood. Except for that his face was just as she remembered it, though somehow it seemed too old. His eyes…she imagined they would be intense and focused. That is if she could see any emotion in them. Even his hands were rougher. Shivers went through her system but she never let them reach the surface. She wanted to close her eyes but didn't for two reason. Neither were good reasons. One…she didn't want to have to open them again and find that she had only dreamed him…like so many times before. And two she knew if she closed them she would give in to the feelings dancing deep inside …then where would she be? Lost. Neither of them blinked…not once. She knew what her reasons were…what were his? She felt anger start to swell in her belly. But that too she locked in a secret box in her mind. Why the hell had he come back? Why now? The bastard! He looks at me as if I'm some stranger that he's asking what day it is, politely but with no deep interest. Had he expected me to throw myself at his feet? If so then he must be sadly disappointed by now. Not that she cared about his joy…nor his pain. Seiya Kou could go to hell for all she cared! She showed none of this of course, not in action or in word. As the last few notes of their song ended they stepped apart as one. He lightly nodded his head to her and she did the same. Turning she leisurely left his side as if he was already an after thought. Seiya watched her go for a few seconds then did the same. He had learned all he needed to know. Their entire interaction had taken place without a single word being spoken. What was there to say…after six years of silence?
//
Mina had seen the two, as she was sure everyone else had. She bit the inside of her lip as she watched them part. Damn! Not exactly the kind of reunion I was hoping for. Unless they were using telepathy they hadn't said a single word to each other. How were they suppose to reconnect if they didn't talk? Mina knew that Serena was probably agitated, though she would never show it. She never showed any emotions that mattered anymore. Mina felt bad and decided to do something to distract her. She pulled her husband (what a kick she got just thinking the word) down so she could whisper in his ear. He nodded, grinning and kissed her on the cheek before he went to find Darien. Five minutes later all the men were crowded up front.
“Okay gentlemen it's time for the garter toss.” Darien announced when he had everyone's attention. Andrew came and snatched the mike from him.
“No way buddy you get out there with the rest of the unlucky saps.” Andrew pushed Darien out with the rest of the men then turned his back to them. Giving Mina's blue garter a hard toss behind his back he turned back around to cheers and applause to see none other then Roger catch it. His level headed partner smiled good naturally as the rest of the men jeered him. Mina joined her laughing husband and took the mike from him.
“Okay ladies, switch places. It's time to see who will be in my place next year.” Mina being dramatic as always even spun her self around a couple of times before tossing her bouquet. She hopped up and down after she saw Trista reflexively reach out and catch it. The guardian of time looked at the bouquet as if it was a foreign object, before she was dragged to the center of the room by Rei, who promptly sat her in a chair that had suddenly appeared. Roger was led to her, as Darien took back over the mike.
”Roger my new friend, you have the pleasure of putting that garter on this sexy, foxy lady. I'm sure you will enjoy.” As the man who was Andrew's partner knelt in front of her, Trista told her self not to fidget, though she wanted to blush at the thought of this virtual stranger touching her. Truthfully she hadn't even been thinking when she had caught the flowers. Her brain had still been processing Serena's and Seiya's little interaction out on the dance floor.
Roger wondered what sin he had committed to be put on the spot like this. The number of the party had dwindled some but there were still at least a hundred and twenty people he had to touch this woman in front of. He took a deep breath and figured he should get it over with. He picked up her right leg and sat the white pump on his bended thigh sliding the garter over the shoe and looked up to find vivid green eyes staring at him. He remembered her from that other night at dinner. She had been quiet compared to the rest but very much at ease with the rest of the group. Now she sat silently watching him. Her lips in a noncommittal smile. He was distracted by her eyes and went slower then he'd intended. Caressing her shapely calf before inching up to the crook in her knee. Now he saw a hint of humor in her eyes and suddenly he didn't hear all the hackles of the tipsy crowd.
Trista was surprised at the direct look Roger gave her. From the previous night she had found him to be a cool headed down to earth man. But she had expected nothing else from a lawyer. She became amused as he lingered at her calf. Was he trying to make her blush? Humph she didn't blush easily. Besides it was nothing to blush over…if he would hurry and get it over with. He was finally at her thigh and she wished her dress didn't have to be pushed up so far. Out the corner of her eyes she saw Amara smirking at her and Serena winking at her. How silly of them. It really wasn't that big of a deal. Oh my!
He felt her jump a little as his fingertips touched her inner thigh as he brought his hand back down. He let his hand run down her leg on its backwards journey. Maybe he was a little tipsy his self…was she blushing?
Trista had felt the muscle in her thigh twitch and her eyes had jumped up, catching his and then a dark pair in the crowd that belonged to her daughter. Her daughter who had her mouth open in disbelief. Trista blushed as Hotaru covered her mouth and laughed. Damn this stupid tradition. As Roger stood up the crowd clapped and he reached down a hand to help her up. She stood smiling graciously (though she didn't feel graceful after having his hand on her leg) and they both took a little playful bow. She let his hand go as she excused herself. She was headed to the bar…she needed a drink…it would be her first one of the night.
Scene 4-The Reception Surprise
It was around 9:15 when Mina and Andrew made their way back up to the dais and commanded everyone's attention.
“Ladies and gentleman, my beautiful wife has something to say.” Andrew handed the mike over to her after he had quieted down the guests. His comment earned him a little pinch on the butt from Mina. He looked at her wickedly and she blushed knowing what she was in for later tonight.
“We want to thank you all for coming out to share in our special day. But as you know I've yet to have my honeymoon and times a wasting.” Everyone laughed as a blush stained Andrew's cheeks. “At this time I'd like to thank Director Steve Millberg who has so graciously loaned us his private yacht for our honeymoon.”
The crowd gave the renowned director a round of applause. “However, before we wrap this up I have a special treat for you guys. This group was home grown right here in Toyko but have since gone on to become international stars. Though I grew up with them all the lead singer is a special friend of ours and has agreed to do a mini concert for your enjoyment. With out further ado may I present to you the Zodiacs!” Mina said with flair and the whole crowd turned to the back of the room where the band had been playing all night. Instead Chad and his band had replaced them and though they were still in their suits their rocker faces were on. For the next twenty minutes they sang their most popular songs to the audience.
Rei found Mina after the first song and pulled her to the side smirking at her.
“How'd you pull this one off?” Mina gave her the most innocent look she could manage before she burst out laughing.
“Easy, I whined and batted my lashes at Andrew until he pestered Chad enough. Wasn't that hard, since we're all friends and Andrew is Chad's lawyer.”
“Yeah, yeah. Do you understand what you just pulled off? You said it those are international superstars giving a free performance at your reception. Do you know it would cost you some where in the hundreds of thousands to book them for a personal concert?” Rei said thinking about the business side of everything.
“Of, course I know all that. Can you believe it! My wedding will be the talk of the town for months!”
“Yes, not to mention how it will boost your career.”
“I know.” Mina said giving her a wink. They smiled at each other, both savvy business women. After another minute Mina went and found Hotaru and Sammy and pulled them aside.
“Guys I need you to do me a favor. Go around and tell everyone in the wedding party, including Trista to come up to me and Andrew's suite directly after the concert, room 4565. Oh also tell the Star Lights and Princess Kakyuu to come also.”
“What is this about?” Hotaru asked?
“I have an announcement I want to make to everyone before me and Andrew take off. It's very important. Oh and as soon as Chad gets done snag him and all three of you hurry up.”
“Why in the hell do the Star Lights need to be there?” Sammy asked hostility in his voice. Mina gave his an understanding smile and explained.
“As I said I have a big announcement and I need everyone important to be there…and they are important. Now please do this favor for me it's very, very important now hurry up and find everyone, they only have a couple of more songs.” Mina gave them both an encouraging smile then dashed off. Sammy was irritated but when he looked at Hotaru she just shrugged and went off to do the errand. Sammy stuck his hands in his pockets and went to go do the same.
//
Seiya felt the unchecked anger being directed his way and slowly turned around but was surprised at the person in front of him. He shouldn't have been though as he recognized who it was. He gave a small smile and nodded…it was not returned.
“Sammy…how's it going?”
“The name's Samuel to you. Anyway I only came over here to deliver a message. Mina for what ever reason would like your presence up in her suite directly following the concert. She said she has a big announcement and wants you there. The room is 4565.”
“Thanks for the message…Samuel.” Seiya said to the already retreating back. Sammy turned and took a few steps back towards him.
“Oh and another thing while your here…stay the hell away from my sister.” Seiya didn't reply as the young man walked away but he was troubled. He had never seen such malice in Sammy's eyes. The young boy had always been rather happy go lucky if a little devious. Then again Sammy wasn't a boy anymore, six years could be a long time. What had happened after he'd left to cause Sammy to look at him with such hate?
//
Mina waited upstairs with her husband who was currently kissing her. He knew about the surprise she was about to spring on their friends…well almost. She broke off the kiss and looked at him.
“Um, honey…I told Hotaru to tell the Star Lights to come up too…I'm going to ask them.”
“You're what!” He let her go and ran his hand over his short hair. “Mina you can't be serious. That would be disastrous! How in the hell did they end up here in the first place?”
“Honey…that's not the point…they should be asked like everyone else…I-“ She was cut off as someone knocked on the door. Mina hurried to go get it, so she wouldn't have to answer Andrew's question. It was Roger, Alex, Michelle and Amara. She ushered them all in.
“Is the concert over already.”
“Yeah, Darien and some of the others will be right up.” Alex said leaning against the wall wondering why his brother was frowning already. “Something wrong little bro?”
“No…not yet.” Andrew said pointedly to Mina was trying to ignore him by talking to the others. Andrew shook his head and threw up his hands. He knew that it was already to late…he could tell she had made up her mind. The others quickly made their way up and Chad was the last to arrive as he had been busy signing wedding napkins for some people. Mina went back to stand at her husbands side and clutched his waist. They all stood a little uncomfortable, wondering what in the world she had them all here for. She looked up at Andrew for support but he turned to the crowd and said.
“Go ahead Mina, this is your show.”
“Uh right. Well I want to first thank you all so much for being a part of my wedding and making this day happen for me. It was just as I've always hoped. I'd also like to take a moment to introduce the recently new members that I call my family. Everyone this is Alex, Andrew's older brother.” She said pointing him out were he still leaned against the wall. “Um, it's a long story so don't ask. And Roger, Andrew's business partner and good friend. Since their new they don't know about our extended family and our dramas, so lets not scare them off by blurting them all out at once.” Everyone understood what Mina was implying. She was letting all the scouts know that they had two humans who did not know about any of them. Now everyone would know to take care when they spoke. “Anyway that's not what I drug you all up here for. I really just wanted to express our gratitude to each person in this room by offering you a gift from Andrew and me to you.” Eyebrows rose at her statement and Yaten made his way up to her.
“Correct me if I got this wrong but I thought we were suppose to get you presents. In fact here's the one from us.” Yaten had snatched his gift off the gift table and brought it up to give to her. Her eyes lit up as she saw the gift wrapped in the shiniest red paper she had every seen.
“Oh my goodness you actually brought me a gift from Kin-“ She cut her self off as she remember what she had just warned the others about. “Wow, can I open it now?”
“Well I don't think-“ He trailed off since she had already ripped off the paper. Those who knew leaned closer, interested in seeing a gift from the planet Kinmokusei.
“Oh...it's…it's…what is it?” Mina finally asked. She held up a black case of some kind that was 7 and a half inches long. On both ends it had suction cups attached to it. The middle of the black case was clear and Mina could see there was other stuff in side. It was also very light. As they all continued to stare at it suddenly Princess Kakyuu let out a little yap.
“Oh my god! Yaten is that what I think it is?” She asked blushing. Seiya and Taiki actually started laughing as they too recognized the object.
“You know what it is Prin- I mean Kakyuu.” Mina asked correcting her self.
“I do.” She said. “But I'll let Yaten explain what it is.” Yaten was grinning impishly as everyone waited.
“Well…how to explain it.”
“Just come out with it already.” Amara said irritated. She was sitting in one of the arm chairs, her shoes kicked to the side.
“If you insist. It's a sex toy.” There was silence as Mina blinked down at it then looked back at Yaten.
“A sex…toy…well how do you use it?”
“Mina!” Ami gasped out, as some of the others laughed not surprised that would be her first question.
Andrew found it slightly amusing his self. “You got us a sex toy for our wedding gift…what are you trying to say.” Andrew joked with his ex-rival.
“Hey, sorry those three left me to pick out the gift…that was all I could think of.”
“Yaten, that's because we thought you knew Mina best.” Kakyuu defended. Mina let out a loud gut laugh and threw her arms around Yaten.
“You do know me best Yaten…this is a great present.”
“Your welcome and the instructions are in side, plus a couple of other gadgets.” She stepped back nodding and smiling then she turned to Andrew.
“I can't wait to try this thing out on you.” Andrew laughed and gave Yaten a fake hurt look.
“Thanks man, now look what you've done.”
”Hey it's the least I can do.” Yaten said throwing up his hands. “After all thanks to you maybe now I won't have those nightmares of Mina trying to kiss me anymore.” Yaten faked a shiver of dread and everyone laughed. The tension had been broken by a sex toy wedding gift.
“Who says you don't have to worry any more?” Mina said slyly and grabbed him quickly by the neck pulling him down into a deep French kiss among the hoots
and hollers. Alex had stood up, expecting to have to peel Andrew off of this new guy but Andrew was laughing as hard as the next guy. Mina had been right, Alex thought as he leaned back against the wall. This little group did have its own secret. It was obvious they all had history…history that he wasn't a part of. He again cursed the fact that he had been left out of Andrew's life. Mina finally broke the kiss and Yaten stepped back putting his hands in his pockets.
“Well what can I say to that? Except Andrew you're a lucky man.” They laughed some more as they heard Sammy speak up in a fake whinny voice.
“Hey why didn't I ever get a kiss like that? I only got the little pecks on the cheeks.”
“Ahh, does poor little Sammy want a kiss too.” Mina walked over grabbed his cheeks and gave him a chaste kiss on the lips. “Sorry, but your Serena's only brother. I don't think she'd like it if you killed over from the pleasure of me kissing you.”
“She won't like it but I will!” Sammy said he eyes clouding over from the little kiss.
“Okay…okay.” Darien said around the laughter. “Andrew get your wife, before she starts a kissing booth.” Andrew took Darien's advice and snagged her around the waist.
“Right, didn't you get off the subject honey?”
“Yeah, I did, and don't worry my kisses belong to you now. Okay folks back to the point. I want to give you all a gift and want you to think about it seriously before accepting or declining. As you heard me mention down stairs the American director Steve Millberg is lending me and Andrew his personal yacht for a five day cruise.”
”And why pray tell is he doing such a thing?” Lita asked, unable to imagine someone giving such a huge gift. Mina smirked but Rei answered for her.
“Because he wants Mina bad. He has an upcoming movie, which by the way my firm is responsible for the advertising for, that he wants Mina to star in. He's been trying to wine and dine Mina for a while now to thought Mina was good enough to hound like this.
“Well yeah Rei summed it up. Anyway this is not some little tiny boat. It has its own year round crew of 50, chefs, entertainers the whole nine yards. He has enough cabins on board to room 30 people and a top side with a pool and the works. He was has made all of this available to me and Andrew and now I want to make it available to you. I want you all to go on our honeymoon with us!” Mina finished excitedly to the stares around her.
//
“What?” Serena asked as she took as seat on the arm of the chair Amara was in.
“You all heard me right. Everything would be free, we'd leave tonight and be back Friday morning. It would be a blast.” Lita went and laid the back of her hand against the blonde's forehead.
“No fever…why in the world would you want all of us on your honey moon?”
“Think of it more as a free vacation to you all. Come on. Every person in this room could use a break. Rei's driving herself into the ground trying to get that promotion. Ami you're exhausted with school and your intern. Chad you've got to be tired from touring and I already checked you have the next two weeks off before your next show.” People tried to stop her but Mina just kept going before they could. “Serena, you've been non-stop for the last four months with this book tour, Trista I heard it through the grapevine somewhere that your stressed and moody.” Hotaru looked away as her mother glanced at her. “Come on.” Mina continued. “You all could use a break. And this will be so much fun!” Finally someone got a word in.
“Mina as you said I am trying to get this VP spot, you've got to be crazy if you think I'm just going to take a week off.” Rei huffed.
“Yes…while the thought…is nice. I really am to busy finishing up the summer and getting ready for the fall semester.” Trista said.
“But-“ Mina was cut off by Ami.
“Mina I can't admit your right. I am bone tired…but I can't drop everything to got running off on your honeymoon. I have responsibilities.”
“Actually yes you can. I kinda had your mother call in a few favors and she's managed to get the week off for you…if you wanted.” Mina said softly, hoping Ami didn't reach over and strangle her.
“You what! Mina!”
“I said if you want to…the point is you actually can go.” Everyone started talking at once and Alex had to smile. His sister-in-law was one big trouble maker.
“Mina, I think the idea is sweet too, but you know I can't leave Jupiter's for a whole week, I almost had a heart attack this weekend not being there.” Mina was getting antsy and a little mad. She turned to Lita with her hands on her hips.
“And that's exactly my damn point! You haven't had a vacation since you started that restaurant two years ago. Then you ran yourself ragged with this wedding.”
“I ran myself ragged? Try you ran me ragged.” Lita came back at her poking a finger in her face. Mina slapped it away and continued.
“Whatever! The point is you need some time to recuperate. I'm trying to give that to you.” This started another round of everyone throwing in their opinions. Alex finally spoke up and his voice quieted everyone down.
“So Andrew you don't have a problem…with this plan?” Andrew hadn't said a word so far now he spoke up.
“Nope I don't have any problems with it. Mina and I talked about this for a while now. Everyone…here is like family to us. My wife just wants everyone to be happy and so do I. Besides the more the merrier.” He finished on a smile and Mina squeezed his hand, happy to have his support.
“Well…in that case.” Alex said in a slow drawl. “I don't see why there's any reason for me not to go. I can shuffle a couple of things. Plus I think it would be very interesting to get to know your creative wife better.” Alex gave her a little wink and she smiled. That was one down…and a lot of more to go.
“Yeah. Count me in two. What the hell, I've got nothing better to do and could use the down time.” They all turned to stare at Chad, who had pulled out a cigarette (his only real vice) and lit it. Rei narrowed her eyes. Well that does it, she thought. If he's going then I'm not. And when in the hell did he start smoking?
“Yay, two down, come on anyone else?” Mina half way pleaded.
“Well, it sounds wonderful, but Mom and dad would kill me if I cut courses. It's my bad luck I'm taking a full load this summer. But if you want to give away free trips in the future let me know.” Sammy said cheerily, really wishing he could go.
“Bud…while it's an interesting proposal, I can't leave with out some kind of notice.” Darien said. He had been quite, watching and listening to everyone else.
“Besides, you got to admit...this is kind of crazy, taking a group of people with you on your honey moon.
“Yeah, I think I'll have to pass two.” Roger said. He was really surprised that Andrew had kept this a secret from him. Now his younger partner turned and glared at him.
”What's your reason?” Andrew asked.
“Well someone has to run the office, with you gone.”
”Ah come on Rog live a little. We own the company for god's sake. What's the use if you can't take off every once in a while. Besides what in the hell do we have those other four lawyers for? I thought they got paid to work?”
“Yeah…but-“ Andrew cut him off.
“But nothing. You need this vacation almost more then I do. There's nothing on your books that can't wait.”
”Well…I suppose your right…plus I could always just bring my laptop.”
”Well…I suppose your right…plus I could always just bring my laptop.”
“That's the sprit!” Mina said. “Okay that was three.” She looked at the others and saw that no one was budging. Fine she didn't really want to have to do this but it was time to use her secret weapon. She dredged up her most heartfelt voice and started in on them.
“Guys, look. I know this is a surprise and that I'm asking a lot…the other real reason I want us to do this…is for Serena.” Mina knew that if she could get Serena, then the rest would most likely follow.
//
“Me?” Serena stammered out in the ensuing silence. She felt all eyes on her and could have happily chocked Mina for putting her in the spotlight. ”What do I have to do with this?” Mina walked over to stand in front of Serena, turning on the charm.
“Well today is your birthday. I wanted to give this to you as a birthday gift.” Serena raised an eyebrow and smiled softly.
“But Mina you already did. You got married…that's the best present you could have given me.”
“Oh…you're so sweet. But I wanted to do something directly for you. I know how important family and friends are to you. How much you miss us all. We're always so busy, none of us ever get a chance to talk anymore to hang out. I just thought this would be a good way for us to all leave our cares behind, to relax and just be happy. You know chill out before the hectic world comes crashing back down on us. We rarely get to see you…I just thought spending time with all of us would make you happy.” Mina finished and if it had been a movie there wouldn't have been a dry eye in the house. Serena closed her eyes on a small sigh, blocking out everyone's quiet faces.
She wondered if she could get away with pushing Mina to the floor in her wedding dress? Probably…no one here would blame her. She couldn't believe that Mina was putting this all on her. She knew what Mina was trying to do and could have gladly smack her for it. What in the world was wrong with Mina? They couldn't all possible go on a spur of the moment cruise. Especially with the Star Lights and the Princess! Serena could feel her blood boiling and opened her eyes with the intention of giving Mina a firm no. She would not get her way this time. When she lifted her lids she saw that everyone was patiently waiting on her. Her eyes caught Rei's and noticed her tapping her foot an mile an hour as if telling Serena to hurry and say no so they could get this over with. Poor Rei…she was always in a hurry. She glanced at Ami who was nervously brushing her hair aside and twisting that ring of hers. When had Ami become so fidgety? It must be the stress. Lita had her own eyes closed, head tilted back as if she had a headache. Serena had the feeling that she just wanted the day to end, so she could get some rest. She glanced at Amara beside her in the chair. Serena had expected to hear the most from them and so far they had been silent this whole time. She saw that they wore matching expressions of amusement and caution. Serena smiled a little…it had been nice seeing the two together today…hell seeing them period. She glanced at Darien and could tell that his mood was being to go down south. She didn't have to use her powers, she only had to look at his face. Darien…was often prone to mood swings. She watched as he went over to the mini bar and poured his self a drink. He'd told her that a drink helped relax him…was that why she saw him so often now with one in his hand? Trista hadn't said anything else but stood with one arm slung over Hotaru's shoulder. Serena's smile got a litter wider. She was still amazed at how Trista had taken over being Hotaru's mother with out hesitation. Trista did such a good job of it but then she did a good job at everything and never complained once or asked for help.
Didn't they all deserve a break…a rest? And what about her. Mina had been right in that she had been going non-stop…they all had. And she did miss them all but what else was new? She frowned and glanced around at all her friends…skipping over the four people who hadn't said a word on this subject yet. Yeah, they all could use a break…but at what price? Could Serena spend a week with Seiya just to give all her friends a chance to be happy and relaxed? What would it cost her? To much! Her mind screamed at her. But didn't she owe them? She had watched them all today and had realized how much she really missed them. Hearing their laughter, seeing them smile…truly smile. It had been a long time since she had truly smiled. It had felt good. Serena knew they had put up with a lot from her…and still they had been by her side. After all this time couldn't she give something back to them? Now she looked at the Star Lights…at him. Why should she left him rob her of this too? Hadn't he already robbed her of enough joy? But…would it be worth it? For any of them? Serena closed her eyes again on a heavier sigh and stood up in front of Mina and then looked directly at her friend of many years.
“Mina…” She started slowly and saw the light of hope go out of the bride's eyes. “I don't know what to say…except I'll go.” For an instant Mina didn't think she'd heard her right. Then she blinked and grabbed her hands.
“Did you just say you'd go?”
“Yes…why not. I can push back my Wednesday signing I had. I should be able to make my Friday one. Your right, it's my birthday damn it and I deserve to spend it with my friends.” Mina enveloped her in a hug as the rest stared in shock. As they were hugging Serena opened her mind to Mina's
“You owe me so big Mina it's going to take your first born to pay me back.” She snapped her mind shut before Mina could reply and stepped back.
//
“So.” Serena continued. “Where exactly are we going on this cruise ship?”
“Well, we'll hit Nagoya tomorrow, then Osako on Wednesday coming back.” Mina said, still not believing that she had pulled it off.
”Sounds great!” Serena said cheerfully. Now Amara stood up and narrowed her eyes.
“You can't seriously be going kitten?”
“Sure I am, you should come too.” Serena said lightly, not trying to sway anyone's decision either way…though she knew she already had. Amara just looked at her and shook her head. Walking over to the bar, she had Darien pour her a drink.”
“Oh what the hell…I guess I will.” She said as she downed the brandy Darien had given her. “Jesus, why didn't I just stay my ass at home?” She muttered loud enough for Darien to here. He just smirked at her and gave her a long look.
“Well if Amara's going then I have to go. It's something about her in this dress that makes me want to follow her.”
“Shove it Darien…before I shove it for you.”
“But Darien I thought you said you couldn't take off without notice.” Mina said sweetly playing devil's advocate now.
“Yeah I did. But what's the point of being the star doctor if you can't call in some favors. I'll take care of it.” He shrugged no longer worried since he had made a decision. He never second guessed his self.
“Well, I guess that means I'm going as well.” Michelle said as if it would be a chore. “Luckily it's my off season. If Darien is going to continue to say things like that to Amara then I feel it's my duty to go and protect him.”
“Ah, wonderful, that means two beautiful women will be at my side.” Darien said leering in fun at Amara who couldn't help but laugh at him.
“Hey wait a minute Darien…you need to learn to share. You can't hog all the beautiful women to your self.” Chad threw in playfully.
“I did share buddy at the bachelor party last night. To bad you missed out.”
”Damn.” Chad said, truly interested in what had went down the other night.
“Gentleman can we stay focused.” Mina said disgustedly before they could get to reminiscing. “What about you Trista?”
“I'm afraid my answer is still no.” Trista figured if Michelle and Amara were going that would be enough for Serena…if they went. “I should stay here with Hotaru.”
“Hey who said I'm not going?” The teen spoke up, looking up at her mother, who looked down at her sternly.
“Your not.” Hotaru heard the flatness in her voice and didn't bother arguing, besides she didn't want to go anyway. But she thought it would be a wonderful trip for her mother. Maybe she would relax about whatever was stressing her enough to cause her to toss and turn in her sleep. Her mother needed to get out and have more fun instead of worrying and working all the time. Besides what teenager wouldn't love to have the house to themselves for a week.
“Fine then you have to go. You never do anything for your self, you could even take your work with you, at least you'd be out on the open ocean.”
“Hotaru, forget about my job I can't just leave you alone for a whole week.”
“Why not?”
“Why not? Because you're a teenager who's not even 16 yet! That's why.”
”Oh.” Hotaru got from under her mother's arm and lowered her eyes. “I see…you don't trust me…that's it isn't it.” Trista could only gap at her daughter, she had never heard her sound so hurt…then she realized what she was doing and narrowed her eyes.
“That's it Hotaru…no more hanging around Mina for you.” Hotaru lifted her head and smiled.
“Come on mom. You really need this. Please…do it for me…I really worry about you.” Trista saw that she was sincere in her last statement and brushed a piece of hair from her daughter's face.
“Okay…fine, if it means that much to you. But if I go you go, I'm not leaving you alone.”
“What! Why not? I'm not some little kid.”
“Hey if it makes you feel any better I'll check in on the kid while your away.” Sammy said out the blue and only smiled as Hotaru shot him a look that could kill. Hotaru wanted to hurt Sammy. One for calling her a kid and two for implying that he was qualified to check up on her!
“Humph, I don't need a babysitter. I won't burn down the house or let strangers in. I'm perfectly capable of looking out for myself.” Trista frowned, wishing she had more time to think about it.
“Stop giving the kid a hard time Trista and come join us on this wonderful voyage.” Amara said sarcastically as she gave Trista a deeper look. Trista nodded understanding.
“Okay fine. I'll go and you stay.” Before Hotaru could thank her Trista turned to Sammy and spoke. “And thank you Sammy I would appreciate it if you looked in on her for me.” Sammy nodded and grinned at Hotaru to get her goat. The young girl felt like sticking her tongue out at him, but chose a more mature route and only turned her nose up at him.
“Yay. Now this is more like it.” Mina said excited again. Though she still had a few more key players to convince. “What about you Lita, come on, if you'll miss the restaurant so much I'm sure the chef on board would let you cook for us.” Lita had opened her eyes when Serena had agreed to this craziness. Now she narrowed her eyes at Mina. She knew that Mina was up to something…she just couldn't figure out what.
“No thanks Mina. I think I'll just stay at home where it's nice, boring and safe. You are to much excitement for me.”
“Okay…if that's the way you want it. Some best friend you are.” Mina said dejectedly. Lita felt a vein throbbing at the base of her neck. That hefer!
“I am your best friend…you brat. That's the only thing that's kept me from murdering you this weekend and the fact that Andrew loves you! Fine I'll go on one condition…that I don't have to look at you the whole time.”
“Fine…I'll be busy…anyway.” Mina said smiling sweetly at the angry woman. Lita took a threatening step towards the bride but was stopped by Rei who was shaking her head and about to speak. That is before Serena interrupted and addressed the silent group of four.
“What about you four…you've been awfully quiet…Mina invited you too.” For her part Princess Kakyuu had been floored by the request and captivated by the interactions of the group. It was like watching a comedy and being in the center of it. Now she addressed Serena.
“Sorry I wasn't sure where I should jump in at. Understand…I'm not use to such lively discussion.” Serena smiled at her.
”I feel you. I myself had planned on staying silent until I was dragged into it by our host here. But what do you think.” Princess Kakyuu thought carefully before she answered. She had watched the whole evening with appraising eyes. She had seen a lot and felt even more. She knew Serena was only doing this for her friends…maybe for herself too. She thought quickly and came to a decision.
“Well I think it's an excellent idea. I haven't had this much fun in a very very long time. I can't think of anything to stop me so, I'd love to join you if you'll have me.” Kakyuu directed her answer at Serena. She knew it was really Serena's decision on whether or not they came.
“You are definitely welcome. In fact I think I'm really getting excited. We can spend some real time together.” Serena meant it and she looked forward to getting to know Kakyuu better on a personal level.
“Good, it's settled then.” Kakyuu turned to the three who were looking at her funny. “Of course if you three have things you need to attend to, I understand. I'm sure I'll be well taken care of in Serena's company.” Kakyuu truly didn't want the Star Lights to feel they had to follow her. Frankly she wanted to spend time with Serena alone. Besides she had the utmost faith in Serena's ability to keep her safe. She conveyed this to them quickly through telepathy.
“Of course we'd all look out for you and show you the sites.” Serena tried to reassure them also.
“Well it it's free food, free liquor and free travel I'm there.” Yaten said.
“I knew I could count on you Yaten” Mina was excited…almost…she was so close. “What about you Taiki?”
“I don't know…I'll have to check a couple of things first.”
“Seiya?” Mina tried to ask lightly. All she got was a careless shrug of a response though he was still looking at Princess Kakyuu. “Okay.” Mina continued. “Well that's two yes's and two maybe's, that just leave Ami and Rei. What's it gonna be. Me and Andrew want to take off no later then 11:30 and I know people want to throw a couple of things together. Though you could just pick up what ever you need when we get to Nagoya tomorrow.”
Rei was surprised she hadn't bitten her tongue off by now as she tried to keep silent. It looked as if she was going to have to go back on her word not to go since Chad was going. Seiya was going so that meant she had to go for Serena. Sure he hadn't said he was going but if Kakyuu was going then he was. Plus Rei wasn't so sure he could resist the opportunity to prolong his time around Serena. Hell she didn't have to be psychic to see that. “Yeah, I'm going. I'll just need to make a few calls in the morning. Shit I'm going to pack. Someone call me on the cell and let me know when were leaving.” Rei made her way out the door mumbling under her breath.
“Well…that just leaves you Ami.” Mina teased as she walked over and wrapped her hand around the blue haired distraught woman.
”Why do you even bother asking Mina…it's not like I have much choice…thanks to you.”
“There's always choice.” Taiki surprised Ami by saying. She looked over at him and narrowed her eyes suddenly angry. Maybe it was the second glass of champagne.
“That's true, when others don't take the choice out of your hands.” She came back at him. Taiki didn't respond except to say.
“Hmmm are you sure Marc won't mind?” Low blow Mina thought and waited to see what Ami would say.
“I don't know since he's not here now do I.” She left Mina's side and walked past Taiki stiffly. “Like Rei I need to pack, call me at my mothers.” She said as she also walked out the door. No one spoke for a split moment surprised that Ami had quickly put Taiki in his place.
“Well...” Mina said more happy then she could say to have seen that fire in Ami's eyes. “Ami's right everyone should go do whatever they need to. It's ten thirty now so try to be at the docks by 11:30. The name of the ship is the S.M. Venus. Pretty name don't you think?”
“Cute…real cute.” Amara said as she put her swollen feet back in her shoes and helped Michelle from her seat. “We'll see you in an hour.”
“Wait Amara, I'll leave with you…you might need help getting out that dress.” Darien teased as he followed. Lita sighed in disgust and gave him a little shove in the back as she fell in behind him. Roger followed shaking his head at Darien's antics. Hotaru pulled Trista out the door who was frowning all the way.
“Well we should go too. I need to handle a couple of things at…home before I'll be ready to go.” Kakyuu said nodding at Mina. “Thank you again for inviting us along.”
“No thank you! See you in a little while.” Mina said as the four turned to walk out. Now it was just her and her husband…brother-in-law and Serena and Sammy. Once they were out the door Sammy walked over to his sister his face serious.
“Serena…are you sure you should go…since that ass might be there?” Serena smiled at the concern that she knew Sammy was feeling for her. She rubbed his hair, then squeezed his shoulder.
“Don't worry Sammy. I'm not worried about him. Trust me…come on lets get home, I need to throw the little that I brought in my case, then attend to Luna. Then tell mom and dad wear I'll be.”
“They won't like it anymore then I do Serena.”
”I know.” Now she turned and looked at Mina “I don't practically like it either but I plan to have fun anyway. See you in an hour.” Mina gulped at the look Serena had given her but didn't back down as she headed to the door.
“I guarantee that's you'll have fun Serena.” Mina said softly. Serena stopped at the door and turned back.
“I told you yesterday Mina that I don't like it when you use me to get your way.” Mina stepped away from the protecting arms of her husband and looked Serena in the eye.
“And I told you…whatever it takes.”
“Don't do it again Mina…” Serena said before shutting the door with a resounding click. Mina's shoulders slumped as if she had just went a round with Tyson and Andrew went to wrap his arms around her again. Mina had her head down, eyes closed as she thought. ”That right there Serena is the reason I did what I've done. That cold unmoving look you just gave me…it doesn't belong in your eyes. I'll do anything to make that look go away. Anything”
“Are you okay sweetheart?” Andrew asked worried. Mina lifted her face and smiled at him and Alex who had come to stand by them.
“Yep…I'm perfect now.”
“Um…I'm not sure what the hell just happened here. And I'm not just talking about what just happened. I'm talking about the whole little dynamic that was going on in this room. Are you sure you want all these people together on a boat?” Alex asked slightly concerned now.
“I told you we had drama. But don't worry you have nothing to worry about. Your fresh meat, we won't bite you…yet.” Mina said reaching over to give him a kiss on the cheek. “Thanks for backing me…us up brother. Hey cool I always wanted a brother. Okay well I need to go pack. I was to drunk to do it last night. Opps!” Mina laughed as she strode off to her side of the suite. Alex just stood there with his mouth open. He had never met a woman that changed moods so quickly and had so many. Andrew clapped him on the back and just laughed.
“Don't worry big bro…Mina always leaves people with her mouth open…you'll get used to it.”
“Does she know what she's doing?” Andrew shrugged, as he walked Alex to the door.
“I don't know…I guess we'll soon find out. Look's like we're going on a cruise together.”
“Looks like. See you in a little bit.” Alex went out the door and Andrew blew out a big breathe. Married less then 12 hours and Mina was already making his life even more complicated. He slowly walked back into the common area and went over to one of the tables and picked something up. Mina had sat it down as she did her dance of persuasion around the room. Now he looked at the black foreign object in his hands and smiled.
“Fuck all the drama…I'm going on my honeymoon!” He got a little pep in his step as he went to make sure he packed Yaten's wedding gift.
AN: Bet your wondering why I went through everyone's reason for going? Well because it's very important. What happens in the next two chaps sets up the rest of the whole story….Okay juicy lemon coming up next so only for the mature. “The Cruise” will most likely be in two parts a lot can happen in five days, so seriously this will not be up before June, but it will be worth it. LOL I'm excited myself, been waiting to write “The Cruise” for going on six months! REVIEW
