Chapter 3 - A dream from the gods

I decided to head for the beach since it was only a twenty- five to thirty minute walk. It wasn't like I didn't have time. So I began singing softly to myself.

It was only what seemed like five minutes before I heard the melodious sound of water meeting land. I stepped onto the platform and made my way down to the beach. It was deserted except for a raggedy trash digger combing the beach with his stolen shopping cart rolling through the sand. I had to wonder how he could push that old thing with out the sand getting into the carts gears. But I guessed it already had and he was just pushing it. Poor fool.

I removed my shoes and began walking to the shore heading opposite of the old man. I would follow the boardwalk to the pier. The pier used to be a dock before the city built a new one after that it became a fishing area. An idea place if you wanted peace and quiet.

The pier loomed closer with each passing step until I was at the steps leading up to the old rickety thing. The pier creaked and swayed from the wind and water surrounded it. If you weren't used to it you would know doubt get seasick.

At the end of the pier I sat down, and aloud my feet to dangle down into the water. The disturbance made ripples form and I counted each one as I crossed into a dream.

"One, two, three… four… five…" I stopped counting and drifted on a cloud.

"Akino… Akino… Open you eyes Akino. "

"Huh, who's there?" I said. I opened my eyes finding myself in a small white room.

"Akino… Akino… This way Akino!"

I turned around, "Who's there? What do you want?" A blue light shimmered in the distance.

"Akino… This way Akino!" I started running toward the light. "Who are you? What do you want?" "Akino come on wake up!" "Wake up! Wake up! You're scaring the fishes!"

"Huh?" I opened my eyes and, "shit!" I jumped straight up heart pounding in my chest.

"Argh, good you're awake now I can get some fishing done! A small man dressed in an orange rain coat stood over me. He seemed to be an old sailor of some sort and I guess I had been talking in my sleep. I looked around the sun was high in the sky. I must have been pretty late although I wasn't sure.

"Shit! Sir, Do you by chance know what time it is?"

"Argh can't say I do. Now be quiet!" he said in an annoyed voice. He mumbled to himself some thing about how women can't keep their mouths shut. But that's all I heard.

I remembered my watch I had thrown in my purse and proceeded to look for it.

"Foundation, tissues, gum, toast!," I pulled that out as my stomach growled at the sight of it. Lighter, pepper spray, ah here it is." I pulled out my watch and gazed at the time while slipping the watch on my wrist. It was only noon.

"Whoa I am so relieved that it isn't five PM," I laughed to myself. I stood up smoothed back my hair and looked around. The beach was crowded beyond capacity. Sunbathers inhabited every inch of the beach! It was like a sea in its self. I really couldn't believe it, I mean how could this many people accumulate in one space at one time. It was monotonous!

I edged my way between people as I headed for the streets banging my knees on lawn chairs on the way clutching my toast for dear life. I mean I didn't want to drop it this mob!

"Excuse me… Pardon…ooh that must have hurt… sorry!" Reaching the main streets I looked back. I must have stepped on at least thirty hands on my way up here and I tell you those people were angry! What a mess!

I stood on the board walk gazing once again at the duo seas until my huger gabbed my attention once again. The napkin wrapped toast was still in my hand and I proceeded to unwrap it. With every bite the hunger paining me reduced until it was no longer there. The bread was cold and some what hard, but it was still satisfying. I took several minutes and then decided to go some where that was special. Or at least to me it was

So I began again but this time I headed toward the middle of the city. There was my sanctuary of nature. It was a vast forest that spanned 200 acres. There were paths leading everywhere from picnicking areas to playgrounds. But I preferred one special place with in it. Near the far north - eastern corner
