She Talks To Much

Chapter 3

`Ugh we've been walking forever. I don't even know where were going. God damn it all! Okay so maybe I lied? But what was supposed to do! He was going to leave me here, when I know that he's headed towards Montdell shires I just couldn't let him go without me coming along.'

Serenity glanced to her right to see the handsome, goergous young man.

` Oh god what if he starts noticing that this little trip is bullshit?…He seems really pissed off. Maybe he already knows? This is so lame, why hasn't he said anything yet? It's been hours since we started walking . I can't stand this anymore.'

“So.. what's on your horse?” Serenity offered a small smile while she asked the cold-hearted man beside her.

Endymion was brought back to reality by the sound of her voice. He registered what she said and looked at his horse.

“What are you talking about?”

“Well you know… that weird strap thing…what is it?”

Endymion was a bit confused but then understood that she was referring to the saddle. He rolled his eyes.

“It's a saddle. What were you raised by wolves?” sarcasm filled his voice.

“Nope.” Serenity said lightly ignoring his rude remarks. “So..how come you were in the river when I found you?”

He grunted. “ I was tackled into it during a battle.”

“A battle? Why?”

“Why what?”

“Why were you in a battle?” she seemed concerned. Which is ludacris! Why should she be?

“What do you think a warrior does? We go to war and fight. Are you expecting us to laugh and hug?”

Still curious as a cat she continued her rambling of questions. “ What was the cause of the war?”

Endymion continued walking. He didn't look at her and replied “ Their Lord that controled the land wouldn't cooperate and give new women for our King to work as slaves. By refusing the request he insulted the King and that's what caused it.”

For the first time he saw anger in her. A frown came upon her face. Not a confused one but an angry one. She looked like she was about to tell him off, say he was a monster and disgusted her. But all that came out of her mouth was,

“Well that's stupid. And your stupid. Why did you go to war?”

“What do you mean why?! It's my job!” He was furious. `Stupid nosy no good of a bitch!'

“You could've said no.” Serenity retorted.

“I take orders without questioning them. It it not my choice to make, now leave it.”

She ignored the last part and pursued was about to call him a big jerk and so on and so on, however she stopped her train of offensive language and told him,

“There's always a choice to make. Sometimes you'll make the wrong choice but you always get another chance, no matter how much you've screwed up in your life.”

As she said this it looked as if she was lectering herself and not him. Serenity grew quiet and her eyes had a glazed look on them. They walked in silence for a while. `What's gotten into her? Pfft what do I care?'

As if hearing his thoughts, she snapped out of her phase as if nothing happened,

“Hey what's your horse's name?” She asked, her cheerfulness back at it again.

Endymion gave her that annoyed look again, but deep down he was releived she was back to normal,

“His name's Arago.” Was his short answer.

“Why'd you call him that?”

Endymion glanced at her and looked back in front of him before answering

“Arago..was my best friend, we were both warriors together. He died 3 years ago.”

Sympathy covered Serenity's face, she gave him a gentle smile,

“I bet he was really brave eh?”

Surprised was the emotion Endymion felt. No one ever talked about him like that, they were always scared to say anything in case it would enrage him for his loss. But on the contrary what enraged him was that people would not talk about him and forget him. They always looked down and apologized. `Apologize for what you fucking coward. He died to try and make things right and be remenbered, all you can say about him, is that your sorry? Fucking pity is all you feel.'

However, Serenity hadn't even met him and she wasn't scared at all to talk about him that way. She hadn't grown quiet and shy. For once she wanted to know about Arago and not end the subject with a pathetic “I'm sorry”.

Endymion cleared his throat,

“Yes, he was the bravest man I'd ever met.” Endymion started telling her stories about his adventures with Arago, how they met and hated each other with a burning passion at first and then their combats together brought them to friendship.

Serenity listened and laughed and sighed. She never interrupted during his short stories. One thing he enjoyed about her was that she had respect. She might be an annoying woman but damn she had respect for you. You didn't have to win it or earn it. She gave it out on a silver platter.

A comfortable silence fell upon them after he'd finished. Endymion glanced at her time to time, observing her. She really was beautiful. Unlike most women he met they used they're looks to get his attention. It obvioulsy wasn't one of her priorities.

Her silver teardrop earrings reflected the sun, and something else did too. A necklace around her neck. He tried to examine it. It was a pendant necklace, a stone hanging on a chain. It had and odd shape, the shape a teardrop just like her earrings. Except it was much bigger and the color was the same as her clear blue eyes. It was sort of transparent.

“Where'd you get that?” He pointed at her pendant.

Serenity was shocked, it was the first time he had tried to make conversation. She instinctively grabbed for it and thought for a way to answer.

“My friend gave it to me.” It was the truth, but not a satisfying answer she new. But she didn't feel like talking about it. Changing the subject she decided to reveal to him that she had no idea whatsover were to go.

“WHAT? You fucking liar! From the looks of it were probably even more lost!”

“That's impossible! Once you're lost, you're lost!” was her weak defense.

“Just get away from me, I can do this on my own! You've already wasted to much of my time.”

Serenity freaked “NO!” she yelled. Silence fell upon them, Endymion just glared at her. Serenity sighed, “Look I NEED to get to Montdell shires, please don't leave me here, I don't even know where I am either! Can we just keep walking? I have a feeling were on the right track!” `Okay, so maybe that was a fib, but it's just a little white lie!'

Endymion shot her daggers, grunted and continued walking.

“I'll take that as a yes!” she giggled and jogged a bit to catch up to him. “Thank you!” She looked so happy it was hard to stay mad at her. He walked a bit faster than before and looked forward to show that he was still pissed off.

“So, what's your favorite color?”

Endymion couldn't believe how random she was. `Jesus this is going to be a long trip.'
