Sailor Moon Fan Fiction ❯ Sailor Moon E(ternals) ❯ Kamen no Mercury Makes an Appearance. Mercury Freezes Up. ( Chapter 7 )

[ Y - Young Adult: Not suitable for readers under 16 ]

A/N: Okay, so just some explanation. It's not that I don't like Urawa, but I always felt like Ami was put on a pedestal by him and no one, not even Ami, can live that way. I will also admit that Ami is one of my favorites so expect a little less about Ami's faults than what I put in for Rei's faults. Also, expect a little more in terms of chapters. I guess it goes back to the fact that Rei and Yuuichirou were pretty much a couple in every way but the name. The only others (that I will be focusing on) that are already a couple are Haruka and Michiru. Because of this, more has to be put into the formation of their relationship than what it took for Rei and Yuuichirou. The hardest will be… ;) You'll just have to wait and see. At least I haven't got tomatoes thrown at me for my unconventional choice for Ami!
Moonlight Phoenix-If you're wondering about Rei and Yuuichirou…they will be mentioned later and will have more of a roll later in the series, but we still have a bit of a way to go before that…
Disclaimer: I do not own the Sailor Moon characters. Naoko Takeuchi has that illustrious honor. I do however own the villains, Sailor Sun, the unknown missing third senshi, and the story line I am writing about.

Chapter 7
Kamen no Mercury Makes an Appearance. Mercury Freezes Up.

Ami was sitting at her desk pretending to study. She was acutely uncomfortable because her roommate was sitting on her bed, glaring at Ami as she turned pages in her text book. “I don't understand,” Ami's roommate said, breaking the silence of the room. “I asked for someone who would know what fun was, but they gave me a…a…workaholic.”

“I'm here for one reason and one reason only,” Ami said quietly. She herself didn't understand where the mistake lay. She told the University that she had finished both her undergraduate and graduate degrees and was now working on her doctorate, but they had still put her in the “freshman” dorm. “I am here to study to be a doctor. You can leave if you want to party.”

Her roommate sighed and stood up. “Fine…” She was interrupted by a knock at the door, so she took her anger out on the poor door knob and hinges.

Frauline Mizuno?”

“In there,” she said, disdainfully pointing at Ami's back and walking out the door.

Ami rolled her eyes before asking, “Yes?” and turning towards the door.

The man looked nervously at the back of Ami's roommate and back to Ami and cleared his throat. “There has been a mistake, Frauline Mizuno. You were supposed to have been put into the graduate dorm, but the computer had a glitch of some sort. If you will gather up your stuff, I have some men from the housing commission here to help us move you into your new room.”

“Thank you, sir.” Ami said, silently sighing with relief. The man told her he would wait outside while she packed and left her alone. She was in the middle of packing her things when she heard a shout down the hall.

DER WALD. SCHAUEN SIE AUF DEN WALD!”

Ami opened the blinds and looked out. She gasped at the sight that met her eyes. The entire forest next to the dorm she was in was on fire. She saw several figures running towards the dorm with a larger figure that was brighter than the surrounding landscape walking at a much slower pace towards everyone. Shutting the door, Ami pulled out her transformation stick. I didn't think I'd need this yet… “MERCURY CRYSTAL POWER! MAKE-UP!” She sighed as she felt the familiar icy water surround her, clothing her in her white and blue fuku. She immediately reached for her communicator, realizing belatedly that she was the only one to defeat this creature. Instead, she touched her left earring, causing her visor to swish across her face as she brought her mini computer out of the hyper-space pocket. She stepped out of the closet and leapt through the window. She needed to analyze the enemy if she was to defeat it.

Shingo was sitting in his room across campus, thinking back to their ride together into the school. He couldn't believe that Ami was at the same school he was and he couldn't help but indulge in some harmless fantasies. He heard the scream to look at the forest and glanced out the window, only to do a double take. He was about to run out and see if he could help fight the fire, when he felt his world go dark.

When he could see again, he was standing in an all white room. He looked around, trying to find out how he had been brought there and saw a figure lying on a table like bed. She looked dead and Shingo gulped, expecting the worse. As he stepped closer he recognized the red and white fuku of “Sailor Mars!” He walked over and felt for a pulse. When he found one, he gave her a quick examination, looking for injuries. During his examination, he heard a sound behind him and turned towards it, putting his hands up ready to fight.

“I won't fight with you, Tsukino Shingo,” the voice said as the owner of that voice stepped out of the doorway he was standing in.

Shingo looked at the man who was dressed in a dark red and copper and noticed the sword hanging from his waste. The man smirked and said, “It will remain sheathed…”

Shingo looked up at the man in astonishment, only to stare at him harder. “Y…Yuuichirou?”

Surprised, the bronze and red man responded, “Hai, though in this form, I'm known as Kamen no Mars or Ditio.”

Shingo, thinking quickly blurted out, “Then that means…Sailor Mars is…Rei-san?” Ditio looked even more surprised, but Shingo continued, not noticing. “That means also that baka-Usagi is Sailor Moon and Ami-chan…I am so stupid!”

“You figure it out sooner than I did. I didn't know about Rei until I saw her de-transform.”

“Very intuitive, my Lord,” a new voice chimed in. Another sailor stepped out from the shadows. Shingo didn't know who it was, but noticed that her tiara was a lot larger than any he had seen before. “I am Sailor Sun, the protector of the senshi of the Sol system, this solar system.”
“I've never heard of Sailor Sun.”

“And yet, here I am!”

“Is Rei okay?”

“Oh yes. Time is not running here. She will stay as she is until I let her wake up. I would be better to let her body heal itself by itself though, without any interference from her. I hear she is very stubborn.”

Ditio snorted and Shingo grinned. “If everything Usagi tells me is true…”

Sailor Sun smiled but continued, “My Lord…”

“Stop calling me that,” Shingo said, turning towards her.

“But you are…”

“No…”

“Shingo,” Ditio said quietly. “Let her explain.”

“Please, my Lord. Sit down.”

Shingo sat at the table and looked at Sailor Sun.

“A long time ago, there was a grand civilization within our solar system. Each planet, at this time, was occupied by its own kingdom. Each kingdom, on the other hand, had princesses. There were, by the time my story takes place, ten princesses of the nine main planets and the moon. The Moon was the jewel in the Sol System's crown. The Queen that ruled the Moon was the High Queen, the most powerful ruler of them all. She held the ginzuishou, the Silver Crystal. Legend says that when the ginzuishou split the first sunlight to hit it into the rainbow of colors, the nine other crystals formed; the pekopekozuishou, konpekizuishou, shougazuishou, akazuishou, aoaozuishou, sendosoeizuishou, aizuishou, sorazuishou, umizuishou, and mazuishou. Each of these crystals were given to the other planets to hold. Eternal Sailor Mars,” she said, gesturing towards the prostrate woman, “already has the akazuishou, the Scarlett Crystal. Mars' Royal stone.”

“Of the planets of the solar system, Earth was not included. Not only was there not a crystal of sufficient material for Earthlings to keep, but for the longest time, Earth was strife with war. There was not a peace loving being on there. The Earth was also split into several groupings of separate civilizations, much like it is today. None of them would bow to one high ruler, so they were not included in the `senshi' planets, as the others became known. When it was apparent that they were nearing the point of entry, fate decided to take a hand in keeping them out. Instead of a princess, who was needed for Earth to become a senshi planet, the Queen of Earth had a prince instead, a little boy.”

“A few years later, it became apparent why this happened because Queen Serenity had her little girl, Princess Serenity. Meanwhile, Queen Sera of Mars had her princess, Aren, Queen Aimes of Mercury had her princess, Meias and so on down the line. From Minerva to Pluto, the princesses were born.”

“Minerva?”

“Yes, a planet still in existence today, though no one knows it. It is hidden, at present, behind Mercury.”

Shingo looked surprised, but Sailor Sun continued, “When Princess Meias of Mercury become of age, she became the guardian soldier of Princess Serenity, Sailor Mercury, along with the Princesses Aren, Afen, Athna, and Jovie. They became the Sailor Senshi.”

“As the Princesses got older, they got more beautiful, so their mothers and fathers started finding suitable mates. This is when Prince Endymion, the prince of Earth, and Princess Serenity met. This is also when Princess Meias and Lord Merc met.”

Without realizing why, Shingo felt a stab of jealously at this unknown Lord's name. It's not like he and Ami had anything going on during that time anyway.

“Princess Meias and Lord Merc's relationship was very scandalous at the time, Lord Merc being several years younger than Princess Meias. But they were in love and King Hermes and Queen Aimes agreed to the marriage. Do you see yet?”

“I'm afraid not, no.”

“My dear Lord Merc, why ever not?”

“What?!?”

“You need to take on the persona of Lord Merc, and become Kamen no Mercury to take care of your princess.”

“Impossible!”

“Why?” she asked, honestly confused. “Do you not love her?”

“No…I…uh…I can't say I love or don't love her either way, but I do care for her.” Shingo's face was lit up with embarrassment. “It's she who doesn't care for me. I'm her best friend's kid brother…”

“Does that mean you can't protect her?”

“Well…”

“If you care for her you should want to protect her.”

“I don't want to see her in the arms of another man,” Shingo said, almost yelling. “If I protect her, eventually she'll find someone else to love. I'd have to watch as she spends time with him, gets married…I think it would kill me,” he said, breathing heavily now that he's calmed down.

“Oh…”

“Shingo-kun,” Ditio said. “Protect her until she finds someone then. What would that hurt?”

“I…oh alright!” he said in exasperation. Both Ditio and Sailor Sun wore him down.

“Great,” Sailor Sun said. “Take this whip,” she said, holding out a dark blue whip, “and be prepared to use it soon.”

Shingo took the whip and closed his eyes as he felt the power overwhelm him. When he opened them, he was back in his dorm room. He looked down and noticed he was wearing armor like Ditio had on, except his was a dark, almost navy, blue with white gold trimmings. He had a dark blue whip attached to his waist and he felt power available right at his fingertips. “Wow!” he breathed, noticing as he did that a cloud of steam erupted from his mouth. His room was freezing cold and he didn't notice it. He felt a presence tug at the back of his mind and instinctively knew Ami transformed and was heading out to face whatever had caused the fire.

************

Sailor Mercury had given up on analyzing this demon. It was throwing sparks everywhere and it was all could do to keep the fires out, let alone try and defeat this creature. The creature was laughing hysterically, causing more sparks to fly out of its mouth and land on the ground next to her. “Mercury…” Mercury brought her harp symbol up in her right hand “…Aqua…” she felt the icy water over take the symbol and form itself into her Mercury Harp “Rhapsody!” She said, moving her body, as if she was playing a musical harp and causing a stream of water rush out towards the fire that started. Immediately then, she started her next attack. “Shabon…” she crossed her arms in front of her forming a sting of bubbles all bunched up. She spun around and yelled “…Spray!” letting the bubbles move outwards and form a dense fog. Mercury hopped back a few feet and opened her visor and mini computer again.

“That will not stop me! I am Beniha. I will defeat you like you defeated my sister, Ei!”

Mercury shook her head. The demon surely wasn't that stupid as to call out loud so Mercury could find her. It didn't matter that she had. Sailor Mercury saw the sparks too late as they hit her fuku, catching it on fire immediately. She dropped to the ground and rolled towards a puddle one of her attacks from earlier formed and she felt the steam surround her as the water put it out. She stood up just as a new jet of sparks came at her…

…and stopped when they hit a wall of ice. Did I just find a new power? “Sailor Mercury. I'll take care of her. Get out of here.” A voice from above demanded.

Sailor Mercury looked up to see a tall man with blond hair standing in front of her with dark blue and white gold armor on holding a whip.

“Who are you?”

Kamen no Mercury, at your service, Princess.” He said sardonically bowing before he let the whip fly through the air and attach itself to the demon. He yanked, making sure he had a firm grip, then sent a stream of water up the whip. The water turned to ice and froze around the demons arm, causing a painful scream to come out of her mouth.

Beniha pulled her arm away, used sparks to melt the ice and stood looking dumbly at the blackened stump of her arm. “You will pay for this,” she said, before disappearing into a void.

“Princess?” Mercury asked, as her savior turned around and looked at her.

He bowed again, this time seriously and took her hand in his, kissing it gently. “Princess Meias of Mercury. I am Lord Merc, also of Mercury. I am your protector for the time being. I am also called, Kamen no Mercury.”
