Sailor Moon Fan Fiction ❯ Sailor Moon: The Guardian Saga ❯ In the Beginning ( Chapter 1 )

Sailor Moon and her friends belong to Naoko Takeuchi, as well as the Villains and the world. How ever, Guardian Saturn, His non-superhero personality, the guardians in general, and I think, the idea that Chibi-usa is Queen Serenity, though I'm not sure about that, are mine. I am making no money from this. This is a parody.

The time setting for this is like Modern. In this world,

"Jin!" Houtaru Shouted happily as she ran into the arms of her black haired, dark purple eyed friend. Since he had come, her life and her work had been much more enjoyable. He had come out of nowhere, around the same time that their new ally had appeared.

"Hey!" He gladly held her and nuzzled the top of her hair. She snuggled deep into his embrace, relaxed by his smell and the sound of his heartbeat.

"How was school today?" He asked her in his deep, caring voice.

"It was great."

When she had first come to this town, she had been an elementary student. Now she was an upperclassmen in High school. She had matured physically, her once shoulder length black hair was now like Rei's, free down her back. She was dressed in a strapless halter top, with the symbol for Saturn over her left breast and purple hip-hugger jeans.

"Where to?" He was wearing a Sailor Saturn Teeshirt that proudly proclaimed, "I met Sailor Saturn and all I got was this lousy teeshirt!", His glossy black hair, just like hers, was in a thigh length pigtail. He wore black jeans and had a strange looking pendant around his neck, Like a cross but different, as well as a scarab made from iron that should have pulled his neck down but for some seemed to be as light as Styrofoam. His violet eyes burned with the light of love, similar to the look in Mamoru's eyes when he looked at Usagi.

"Let's go see Usagi!" She knew that Chibi-usa was in town and was happy to show see her, partially because it had been a long time since the two girls had met and also because she wanted to show off her wonderful new boyfriend. She had heard that Chibi-usa had found a man of her own. Usagi had said that he was one of the guards that protected her.

Jin lifted her into his arms in the usually lover carrying style, his left arm supporting her back, his right under her knees. He carried her to his car, which wasn't really a car at all. It was a hover car, the likes of which hadn't been invented. It was painted black, blue and purple with a hood ornament shaped like an androgynous person holding a sickle and a hour glass. She knew quite a bit about Greek and Roman mythology and know it was supposed to be Cronus, Other wise know as Saturn, King of the Titans. But she couldn't figure out the hour glass. He had explained to her that as well as being the king of the titans and the father of Zeus, Hera, Aries, and the other, he was also the god of time. This set her mind thinking. If Saturn was the god of time, why was she the scout of Death and destruction, as well as healing. She got in and they drove to Usagi's house.

When they got there, Usagi and Chibi-usa were waiting for them. As Hotaru got out of the car, she ran to Chibi-usa and embraced her. Jin leaned against the driver's side of his car and watched his girlfriend. She lead the pink haired girl, who had her eyes closed, to the hover car and the man to who it belonged.

"Okay, Chibi-usa-sama, You can open your eyes." Hotaru wore a smirk that showed that she knew how Chibi-usa would re-act

The pink haired princess did and was amazed at the man that stood...leaned...before her. She didn't understand how her friend had found someone like this. Strong, intelligent, cute. He was currently talking to Usagi. He seemed very comfortable in her presence, like he had know her a long time. But that wasn't possible. She was just her last week and there hadn't been any sight of his presence. <Hmm....He sounds and looks familiar. He looks like Guardian Knight Saturn.> Guardian Knight were, at least in the future, the male counterparts to the female Sailor Scouts. They came a from an alternate version of reality where the Earth ruled the universe with an Iron fist. In this universe, only men could use there version of the Silver Imperium Crystal, The Electrum Rebellion Crystal (For those of you don't know, Electrum is an Alloy of Gold and Silver). Where as the Moon ruled in this universe, in their universe, Saturn lead the Rebellion Alliance in the Guardian Universe. According to history, they had come to this universe some time around the present and so she had been keeping her eyes out for them. And she realized something. Now was the time. This was Guardian Saturn. But she wasn't going to tell her friend. Not yet. The Hotaru of the future told her stories of how she met her husband and thus she knew that Hotaru not knowing his alternate identity was integral to how events would happen.

Hotaru returned to her place in her boy friend's arms, warm and safe. When Chibi-usa saw the totally relaxed look on her friend's face, she was instantly reminded of her own husband, Ron back in the future. Ron was one of the guards assigned to protect her and had fallen in love with her at the same time she fell in love with him. Luna came out of the door, took one look at Jin went back inside and called a meeting. When he saw her, he smiled and made a motion like he was tipping a nonexistent hat to the black cat.

When Hotaru got the signal about the meeting she informed her boyfriend to leave. He did, drove his car off and pulled out a what looked like a skull with a symbol that was a combination of the symbol for the Star Wars Rebel Alliance and a clock on the forehead. Inside was a silver crystal with golden speckles. This was the Electrum Rebellion Crystal

"Saturn Aeon Ascension!" A flash of light surrounds him and a large clock appears in front of his chest. It starts out pointing to noon and a helmet, fashioned like the face of a dragon made from a glossy black and purple material, the head surrounded by a headdress similar to that of an Egyptian Pharaoh, except alternatingly striped black and purple instead of blue and gold, with a metallic black dragon with blood red gemstone eyes. At the chin of the dragon was a beard like a pharaoh wore . Then the hands on the clock shifted to 2:00 and his left arm was covered in a sheath of black and purple armor, ending in sharp claws. Then it shifted to 4:00 and his left leg was covered in a similar sheath as his arm, ending in a five toed foot with sharp claws. It then went to 6:00 and the chest formed, covered in scales, with the Skull shaped holder in the middle. Then it went to 8:00 and that was the same as the other leg and 10:00 is the same as 2:00 except on the opposite side. He held his gauntleted hand skyward and a Naginata (Imagine a Katana with a four foot handle and you have the right idea). If one looked at him closely, that person would have noticed that the armor made him look quite a bit more muscular and those gifted with supernatural sight would have noticed an aura of power enhancement magic lingering around his form. [From now on, I will just say "he transformed" and you can go back to this.]

He got in his car and drove to the Hino Shrine, where the meetings always take place. When he walked in, he waved at the elderly priest and proceeded into the Shrine room. When he got there, Luna nearly had a heart attack. Saturn smiled at the armored man and ran into his embrace. "

"Guys, this is Guardian Saturn. He is sort of like us, except male." His mask smiled at them and his eyes burned gently.

He nodded to Luna and the scouts. "Don't bother introducing them I know who they are."

"We were just talking about you." Luna said curtly. "Saturn has nothing but good things to say about you. The other girls aren't don't disagree but they aren't as quick to speak. Tell us about yourself."

"As my beloved counterpart said, I am Guardian Saturn of the Guardian Knights. We were, in times past, the male partners of the female Sailor Scouts. As you can tell by my title, I am Saturn's," With that he nuzzled the woman in his arms, who smiled and pointed at herself. "Partner."

"Do other scouts besides the lucky Saturn," The woman in question smiled. "Get a Guardian?" Usagi questioned, while Luna got ready for the flood of tears that his answer would bring.

G. Saturn smiled and nodded, but then he raised four fingers. "With four exceptions. Neptune, Pluto Uranus, Sailor Earth, if there were one," He paused for dramatic effect, "And you, Princess."
Neptune and Uranus nodded knowingly and Pluto just looked like a statue, stony faced. The princess, on the other hand, looked on the verge of tears. "I want a guardian too! Its not fair!"

"Um Mom, I think he meant me." Chibi-usa figured that she was the princess. This made Sailor moon somewhat happier and she snuggled against Tuxedo Mask's chest

"No. You have one, Chibi-moon. I did mean Princess Serenity." This made Moon cry harder. "But there is a very good reason for that." Moon looked brighter and pulled her face out of Tuxedo Kamen's chest. "Well two actually. One is that you had Endymion and thus didn't need a Guardian. Like wise, there were Guardians from our universe for Uranus and Neptune, but since they weren't needed as lovers by their equivalents, they went elsewhere."

From some unknown place they heard a cross between a whimper and a growl. G. Saturn seemed to know exactly what it was and used his Naginata to draw a circle in the air and then drew some Ancient High Moonian Runes and a hole in the air appeared. It was obviously a portal to somewhere and a strange creature flew through. Its color scheme matched that of Guardian Saturn. It looked like a western dragon, except much smaller, about the size of a large house cat. It had the same symbol as the skull that made up the centerpiece of the Guardian's armor, the rebellion symbol and a clock. Luna smiled at the creature and bowed, elbowing Artemis and Diana to do the same. "Girls, this is Hades, Guardian Saturn's animal guardian. He is the Guardian Knights' equivalent of Artemis and I, and to a lesser extent Diana." This made Diana pout at which time Chibi-Usa took the small cat in her lap and stroked the pinkish grey feline's softly furred stomach. "Treat him with the same respect you would treat me."

Then something strange happened. Guardian Saturn acted as if he were talking on one of those little radios the American Secret Service wears. "I have to be going now... I need to take my vehicle in for repairs." And with that he and the small dragon are gone, leaving a small cloud of scales.

Before five minutes had passed since the stranger's disappearance when their communicators went off.

"That's strange. We are all here, and we are the only ones who can access this frequency. Might as well see who it is. She plugged it into her mini-comp and a holographic sphere appeared. She had learned that she could do this very recently, although, she thought to herself, she really should have thought of it sooner, considering that their Communicator and her mini-comp had an identical port [Port as in something you plug a wire into on a computer, like a printer port or a firewire port]. She was lucky she had just the right wire hanging around from her old laptop.

What should have appeared in the sphere was a 3D image of the person calling. Instead it was a field of static. Obviously the person on the other end wanted to only be heard and not seen, although occasionally there was a flash of an image of a person back lit so that you could only see the outline of his head. "There is a monster of the Youma verity attacking people at Juuban high school." The holographic image showed a monster that looked just like the first Youma they fought.

"That creature looks almost exactly like the first Youma we fought but not quite. And I can't put my finger on what is different."

"Well lets go beat to a pulp." Rei was obviously eager to fight.

Then in a flash of light Setsuna appeared. And it was very obvious that she was extremely mad "He was here. He was here and you didn't tell me? How could you do this to me? I haven't seen him in thousands of years, every minute possible of that time spent hoping he would come back to me and when he did, I wasn't informed of his presence!"

With that she left as she came, leaving quite a few question's

unanswered. Usagi was the first to speak "What just happened?"

Luna sighed and sat down before answering. "Back when Guardian Saturn first came to our universe, It was revealed that he was not only the prince of Saturn, He was the prince of Pluto as well. This brought up the question of which princess got him. He loved Rhea dearly and only thought of Persephone [Princess Saturn and Pluto respectively, Rhea was the wife and sister of Cronus, other wise known as Saturn and Persephone was the wife and niece of Hades, otherwise known as Pluto]

Persephone felt otherwise. She loved Prince Cronus very much. While it wasn't against the law or against culture for a person to have more than one spouse, Chrono simply didn't want that. He loved Rhea and not Persephone. It was that simple. She didn't take it well, instead burying herself in her work. She wouldn't even be in the same room as him, even though they were supposed to work together. Of course she didn't realize, and couldn't have, that Cronus actually was on the verge of finding that he did indeed love her. If Persephone hadn't forced her feelings upon him, she would have been his."

"And why couldn't have Queen Venus seen this in his heart?" Venus was quick to put in.

"She would have if Persephone had thought to ask her. But she charged in head first and couldn't handle the consiquenses."

This is when Moon entered the conversation. "But even if he still loves her, and we could get him to admit it, we would still be stuck with the problem that in this day and ago, polygamy is not accepted as much as it was back then."

"That's a pretty big if. Even if this is a new life, getting him to admit he had any feelings for her would be harder than it would be to get Kuno to admit that he is an idiot with delusions of grandure. And even if you could get him to admit it to YOU, how would you get him to admit it to HER?"

"We have a monster to take care of!" Jupiter headed for the door and broke the other scouts out of their own thoughts.

When they arrived at the scene, Mercury scanned the area. As well as detecting the monster, she detected Guardian Saturn off to the side. She turned and saw him, hovering in the air on a rocket glider like the one the American supervillain The Green Goblin, except designed to look like a dragon instead of a bat. He knew she was looking at her and gave the thumbs up.

"Saturn!" Ami yelled.

Saturn walked over daintily and nodded "Yes, Merc?"

Mercury shuddered at the nickname, that while it was logical, it was also short for Mercenary which was something she didn't like being compared to. She pointed off in the direction of Guardian Saturn. "Look over there."

Saturn was pleasantly surprised when she saw Guardian Saturn and ran over to him, knowing that her powers would simply be over kill.

"Hey babe." His voice rippled through her soul and though the magic of his transformation prevented her from recognizing it as anything but the voice of Guardian Saturn, his voice rippled through her heart and soul and made her feel warm and comfortable, as if she were at home, in Jin's warm embrace When she got there she couldn't see him. "Up here."

She looked up and saw him hovering in the air above her and jumped and hovered at the same hight he was.

Even though his mask covered his face and hid his emotions, it was obvious to the young girl that he was smiling amusedly at her. "You could have just asked me to land." The smile was plainly evident in his voice and he shot over to her and wrapped her in his arms and landed.

"You must remember. Until you remember, I will never be fully yours." Every time they met he said these exact words.

They defeated it the same way the did the first time and with the added help of the outers, it was even easier. As usual after a meeting with him, she pondered on his words. She decided she would talk to Mamoru who had a similar experience with Princess Serenity.

After they got back to the the shrine, Hotaru pulled Mamoru aside and took him to the shrine room after getting permission from Rei.

"Mamo-san?" She had long ago learned that Mamo-chan was Usagi's nickname and that Setsuna did a good job of keeping it that way.
"Yes, Hota-chan?"

"Remember just before you met Usagi-san, you had some dreams that featured Princess Serenity telling you to remember something?"

"And you know about me and Guardian Saturn, right?"

"Of course I remember that. Why?" Mamoru remembered that fondly as it was the gate way out of his unhappy past and into his much happier present and future, Although why Hotaru would bring it up was beyond him.

"I know you two are sort of a couple." He wasn't certain what she was getting at, but he had an Idea

"When we meet outside of combat, he is just like a normal person. But at the battle scene he always says the same thing, the exact same words. He says 'You must remember. Until you remember, I will never be fully yours.' I have no clue what it means, but I suspect that it is similar to your experience with Princess Serenity. I'm going to ask Luna to do a Luna Mind Meld on me, focusing on Prince Cronus."

"That sounds like the best thing to do. Last I knew, she was in the command center with Artemis and Diana."

"Thanks a lot Mamoru."

She ran to the CC and found Luna and Artemis. They were scanning through old videos of the scouts fighting, prepping on how to beat old monsters.

"Excuse me, Luna-san?"

Luna Turned around, not expecting any of the scouts to visit them. "What can I do for you, Hotaru?"

"I want a Luna Mind Meld." She said it like it was a normal thing to ask for.

"May I ask why?" Luna had a sneaking suspicion of the answer, but wasn't certain, Just like Mamoru.

Hotaru told the same story to Luna that she had to Mamoru and Luna agreed to do it.

Hotaru sat down and and Luna stood on her hind legs, right paw over her crescent mark and left on Hotaru's forehead, in the equivalent spot. She concentrated on Prince Cronus, and opened Hotaru's mind, releasing all her locked up memories.

"Presenting Princess Rhea of Saturn!" The voice of Rhea's personal Announcer called out. This was the first meeting of the Royal Council that would be including the Order of The Guardian Knights, Which consisted of the nine princes that she heard were alternate versions of her and her team mates on the Sailor Scouts and in their universe carried the same titles of royalty . The order was newly formed, though the princes had arrived a hundred years prior, and it was rumored that Guardian Moon was the father of Princess Serenity. She hadn't been told much about them, carried the same titles of royalty. She also knew that in their universe, Earth ruled the universe with an iron fist and that Saturn lead the rebellion against it.

As every body pulled into the meeting hall, she noticed eight men who hadn't ever been there before. They were lead by a proud looking, Glossy black haired, dark purple eyed man who turned and smiled at her before taking his seat next to Queen Serenity. This minor action, set Rhea's heart ablaze, causing Queen Aphrodite to turn and smile at her. The other men sat next to their counterpart except for a white haired blue eyed man who sat next to Prince Saturn, As well as a sandy haired, dark brown eyed man and a blue green haired man with the same colored eyes as his hair, who sat as a pair next to Princess Amphitrite, of Neptune and Princess Gaia of Uranus. Rhea could tell by looking at the men which was prince of what planet. The princes seemed to be getting along with their counterparts well and she only wished she had the same chance with her counterpart .

It was a standard setup for a meeting like this. There were tables, one for each planet, with each one seating the king and queen of that planet, the princess of that planet and the Guardian of that planet, as well as various aides and other important people. The only exception to this was the Serenity's table, which seated two guardians, The black haired, purple eyed man who, due to his resemblance of herself, she realized, could only be Guardian Saturn, and the white haired man, who sat next to the queen and seemed to be held in great affection by her, who must have been the Guardian of the Moon.

The Queen's table also held Prince Serenity and Prince Endymion of earth, who had managed to weasel away from his duties to be present at this very important meeting and also to provide moral support to the moon princess because she was the only princess without a Guardian that would want one. When Endymion pointed out to her that she didn't need a Guardian mate, she had him, everybody within earshot facefaulted and the princess brightened up quite a bit.

Once every one was seated and comfortable, Queen Serenity tapped her scepter/staff on the ground and the meeting started

"I assume we all know why we are here." When she got a "yes" out of everyone but some kid who had sneaked in, and was kicked out, she started. "Everyone knows about the Guardians and where they come from. We must do our best to make sure that the same doesn't happen to this reality. That is why I am placing the Guardian princes in charge of overseeing the training of the army with the help of The Mars Royal family." Rhea did have question, namely why did everyone get to sit with there guardian but herself, but she kept it to herself.

When the meeting ended, she sat by the door the the meeting hall to wait for Guardian Saturn to come out. When he did, he headed right to where she was standing and got on one knee in front of her.

"Please, forgive my absence at your table, as Queen Serenity requested my presence with her. I would have gladly sat next to you, even held you in my lap like Endymion did Serenity. So I ask that you let me take you out to dinner."

"Of course!"

He held out his arm so she could hook her elbow in his. She took it and they just stood there. After a few minutes, She turned to look up at him questioningly. After thinking for a bit, he swooped her into his arms and a large pair of draconic wings sprouted from his back and they took off. She was enjoying the feeling of the wind blowing against her face and the sound of his heart beat in her ears. All too soon they landed in front of the GinSennenkan's [Silver Millennium] greatest restaurant, at least according to some people. She liked it because most of the people who ate there were very open minded and thus she was able to share a chair with Cronus and they could to feed each other, as well as steal a few kisses. Although they were in their own box so they could have done what ever they wanted.

The meal was good and as Rhea slept that night, she dreamed. The dream started with an image of the moon kingdom. Then a black flame swept across the image and it changed, showing the Sol solar system as a barren and lifeless place. It then showed a scene of her strong prince comforting her from some great tragedy on a background of the ruined city of Crete, the capital city of Saturn, though her brain gave her now feeling that the two scenes were related, as if maker of the dream had forgot to put it in. Then the dream got weird. She was in a place she didn't recognize and even she looked different. She was panicked as she looked for her husband, and among the people she met were a group of girls who resembled her fellow princesses and some men who looked like the Guardians. Among them was her beloved and as they ran towards each other to hold the other in their arms, the dream faded to black, leaving her with the feeling that if she just waited long enough, all would be explained.

A hundred years later, Queen Beryl attacked the Moon Kingdom and they were sent to the future. But every night following that first night she had the same dream. And she wouldn't know what it meant until thousands of years later.

When Hotaru woke from the trance the memories, and the technique itself caused, she instantly knew what he had meant when he said that until she knew more about him, he would never be his. He may have been hers "in costume"and, though she didn't know it until just now, "out of Costume", she now knew him in all forms, present and past. Finally he could become part of the close group that was formed by the inners, both In costume and out. Just as she came to this realization, both her communicator and the large one built into the Command center went off. Since the one in the command center was hooked up to the monitors, she could see the image that she now realized looked like a outline of Guardian Saturn's Helmet.

"This message is for Sailor Saturn's ears only. If anyone else is listening um… it will rain… um… Purple goo whenever you are outside! Thats Right! I said purple goo! The kind that smells bad, and leaves stains!" There was an obvious giggle from someone else and then a splat. Then there was the click that showed someone signing off from the network. Hotaru smiled and the other person Picked up again. "I am glad you remember, my love. I want you to prepare the rest of the scouts for meeting me in, say, Half an hour?" There was a smile in the man's voice and the 3D image reached out its hand to stroke the girl's cheek and she could have sworn she fell the hand stroke her cheek.

She blew a kiss to the image and shut it off. She then turned on her own communicator. After waiting to hear the eight sounds that meant the other scouts had turned their communicators on, she spoke. All who were listening could tell that she had just spoken to Jin "All scouts, we will be having a group meeting to get to know our new allay. All scouts please report to HQ in about half an hour. Thank you."

When she shut of the com link, there was a loud pop and Guardian Saturn appeared. She ran into his arms and cuddled close, listening to his heart beat through his armor. "Welcome back, my love."

He ran his clawed hand through her soft black hair and smiled through his helmet, something she recognized immediately "Its good to be back, my beloved princess, and welcome back to you too. Is the meeting set?"

"Yes it is. They should be here in a few minutes. Which gives us some alone time. Did you know we have a holodeck here?"

"No I didn't. And I know just the Sim world to use."

He entered some codes on a pad near one of the doors and they entered.

A few minutes later the exited, Guardian Saturn with slightly messed up hair and Sailor Saturn with messed up hair and wrinkled dress. When they realized that the were no longer in a world inhabited solely by them, the realized that the girls were there. Sailor Saturn ran to greet her friends as Guardian Saturn stayed near the door, Leaning back against the wall, smiling at his girlfriend as she talked to her friends. After a while of admiring her, first for how well she got along with her friends and then for her herself, he cleared his throat to get everyone's attention.

When all of the girls turned to look at him, he spoke. "Luna, I assume you prepared the slide show?"

The black cat smiled and nodded. She it a button on a control panel and a white projector screen lowered over one of the large computer, as well as a helmet sized just for a cat. Luna walked over to it and placed the helmet on her head. An image came out of a projector above and her voice came over the speakers.

"The Guardian Knights Came to this universe about two hundred years before the fall of the GinSennenkan. They were from an alternate reality where most genders were reversed from this one, so that only men could use the power crystal of their universe and the "Scouts" Equivalents were male. Also in their universe, The earth ruled the world with an iron fist and Saturn was the home of the main rebellion against it." As she spoke, Different images showed up on the screen. When she stared, the screen showed the image of the eight princes walking through a glowing portal
