Three men sat in a small room, bare of furniture except for the boxes they sat on and the one being used as a table. On the table box there were three glinting objects, but they were in shadow, as were the men.

"We do not have much time" said a deep, but calm voice. The others nodded. There was a movement in a far corner of the room: the swish of loose fabric, gentle breathing and the delicate step of a person born with an unnatural daintiness. The three men stood up, and it seemed as if one was going to speak. He opened his mouth, but suddenly he fell away, as did the others. As the entire room dropped into nothingness, Tsukino Usagi opened her eyes.

A sweet song was floating in through the open window, and the warm sun played upon her face. Usagi sat up, and instantly recognised the salty sea breeze. She leapt out of bed and ran into the next room, encouraged by the delicious smell of breakfast.

"Usagi-chan!" said a voice gleefully.

"Hotaru-chan!" cried Usagi, taking the girl into her arms. "Where are your Mama and Papa?"

"Here, Koneko-chan". Usagi straightened up and looked silently at the owner of the voice which had spoken.

"Ohayo, Usagi" added Michiru.

"Here" said Haruka, handing Usagi a full cooked breakfast. "Eat up". But all Usagi could do was pick at her food, deep in thought.

"Usagi-chan" said Michiru softly. "What are you thinking about?" Usagi recalled the four figures in her dream, and shook her head vigorously.

"Nothing" she replied. There was silence for a while, punctuated only by the clanking of knives and forks. "Haruka-san?" she said suddenly. "What happened last night?" Haruka put down her knife and fork and rested her chin in her hands.

"I was uneasy about leaving you last night" she said. "It didn't take me long to get home, and when I did I found Michiru waiting for me. She had been watching her mirror and was extremely agitated. The mirror had told her that someone close to us was in trouble, but it had clouded over before she could see who. I thought instantly of you. I turned and ran as fast as I could back to the ally, and the first things I saw were two enormous shadows. Then I saw you on the floor…" Haruka's eyes narrowed. "The sound of my voice scared the B******s away before I could get close, but I saw what they were". Haruka stopped talking and exchanged glances with Michiru. Michiru nodded. "Usagi" continued Haruka gently, "They were youma". Usagi breathed in sharply. It had been years since they had needed to face any kind of enemy, and she didn't like the idea of ever having to again.

"Are you sure, Haruka-san?"

"Positive". Usagi was silent. Something suddenly occurred to her.

"My mum…"

"I took care of it" said Haruka. "You have Mondays off, ne? You can stay with us for the rest of the weekend".

"But my clothes…"

"I picked some up when I went to tell your mum what happened. Don't worry, Koneko-chan" she continued, in response to Usagi's unsure expression. "You've been through an ordeal. It's best if you stay here".

"You're right" sighed Usagi. "Arigato".

The rest of the day was spent with ease and relaxation. By the time night came, Usagi felt far from traumatized. As she got changed for bed, she thought again of the dream she'd had the previous night, but her thoughts were interrupted by a speeding blur of giggles that crashed into her stomach.

"Night, Usagi-chan!" grinned Hotaru.

"Night, Hotaru-chan" gasped Usagi. She climbed into bed and waited for sleep.

Three shapes were charging down a dark street, each gasping for breath, and frequently checking over their shoulders. They turned into an even darker side street and pressed themselves against the wall.

"Are they gone?" breathed a young sounding, but strong voice.

"I think so" returned the deep voice. "Who would have thought that they'd have infested America as well?" They took a step forward, when out of the blackness jumped four huge shadows.

"S**T!" cried the young sounding voice, as all three shielded their faces from the onslaught.

On the other side of the world, Usagi woke with a start.
