Luna paced in front of Artemis. The meeting had gone smoothly and the other scouts were on their way out. Before they could get far, though, Luna intercepted Mina and Lita.

“We need to talk, come on.”

They walked swiftly to a nearby park. Luna paced while Artemis, Mina, and Lita watched her.

“Lady Mariel drove Serena home this morning.”

Artemis sucked in his breath. “Lady Mariel…but she died.”

“I thought so too, but Serena claims that she's a neighbor of…of Darien's.”

Lita frowned slightly. “Why would a neighbor of Darien's give Serena a ride home?”

“Because she spent last night with him.”

Mina gaped at her. “But Serena and Darien hate each other.”

“I thought the same. When I questioned her about it though, she told me to mind my own business. She's lying to her parents and getting her friends to cover for her. She's sneaking around behind our backs. Frankly I'm worried.”

Lita leaned back. “Don't worry, Luna, this was bound to happen.”

“What do you mean?”

She shrugged. “The tension between those two has been building for months. I guess it was about time they both snapped and admitted they liked each other. Rei isn't going to be happy, but there's not much she can do. She had her chance with Darien and she blew it.”

Artemis nodded. “I think you're reading too much into this. If Lady Mariel is there, then it's probably a coincidence. I doubt she recognized Serena as Sailor Moon.”

“That's not what I'm worried about.” They waited for her to get her thoughts together before plowing on. “Lady Mariel was one of the closest friends of the Moon Princess. She was the one who snuck Prince Endymion into the palace to see the Princess. I didn't know she survived or that she was sent to Earth. I can only imagine that her mission would be to reunite the Moon Princess with Prince Endymion.”

Mina shook her head. “So you're saying that Serena is the Moon Princess?”

Luna stopped her pacing and turned to face them. “I'm saying that it is a distinct possibility. The power that she commanded should have been far beyond her scope. Though how Darien figures into all this, I don't know.”

Lita shook her head. “Maybe Darien is Endymion.”

“I had always suspected that Tuxedo Mask was Endymion, and the way she jumped to his rescue would certainly support that.”

“Then maybe Darien is Tuxedo Mask.”

They were all silent for a moment, trying to remember if they had ever seen the two of them together. After a few minutes Mina nodded.

“You know, that kind of makes sense.”

Artemis nodded in agreement. “Yeah, it sort of fits.”

“This is all speculation at this point.” Luna resumed her pacing. “We can't let Rei get wind of this. I don't want to know how she'll react. Did she ever apologize?”

Mina winced. “No, and Serena is behaving like nothing happened. I don't know how long that will last, but it's bound to backfire in the end.”
