Sailor Moon Fan Fiction ❯ The Awakening ❯ Chapter One ( Chapter 1 )

[ Y - Young Adult: Not suitable for readers under 16 ]
This is a fic I started writing awhile back, hope everyone likes it ^_^. It was a pain in the ass to revise. This is going to be an AU so don't expect to see Sailor Moon in this fic. Usual disclaimers… don't own SM…. But this story is 'totally' mine. I worked this out years and years ago… part of the reason my first algebra teacher didn't like me ^_^. And this is from Usagi's POV…. Mostly anyway.

Prologue
"My King, there is no way that your going to be able to leave the planet to search for our needed soldiers. We need you here to help us deflect the newest attack from Mediate. He's attacked and almost demolished our eastern front."

At Nephlyte's words I stopped short, waving a hand towards my sorcerer to stop him from continuing the spell.

"We have to have reinforcements. If not I, who else would go to earth to collect them?"

"Majesty, send your elder son Seiya in your stead. He has proved to Us many times that he is quite capable of being given a task of this importance. He's eager to prove himself to you, his father."

I stared at the floor in contemplation, going over my Prince's behavior in the last year. He had indeed shown that he could be trusted. He'd done many a grueling task to show that he was not above the common soldier, shown that he wasn't adverse to work. Maybe this would be a good thing for him.

Summoning a young maid to my side, I carefully instructed her to fetch the Prince Seiya, and sat back wearily in my chair as she scurried out.

"What are we to do Nephlyte? Mediate gets braver as the days pass, burning villages to the ground, pillaging wagon trains, and letting that son of his sail the high seas after my ships. At the rate he is going it will soon be an all out war. And what of the rumor we heard just last week? Is he really getting the help of a neighboring kingdom?"

Nephlyte shook his head, acknowledging the depth of the problem Mediate proved to be. "It's hard to believe that this has only been going on for a little over 6 months. The sorcerer works quickly. Already he has half the peasants on his side."

I shook my head in part defeat. From the looks of things as they were we were going to lose the ultimate battle. Jadeite has skillfully used his magic, and that of some of his lesser sorcerer's, to entrap the minds of the weaker peasants. Half of his army consisted of past dwellers of ruined villages. I'd had some of my best sorcerer's looking into trying to free them, but all for nothing. As much as I hated to admit it, Jadeite was far too strong.

I looked at the worn tapestry to the left of my throne and found myself wishing that the prophesy actually was true. I wished that for once I could believe in fairy tales. It would give me hope. If only the legendary warrior were real. The country of Zaldar would have nothing to fear if only he'd show up. I could clearly remember all the times my childhood nurse had told me the tales before I'd went to bed. I'd scoffed at them then.

"You wished to see me father?"

The excited tone of my elder son's voice brought me back to the present. I ran my hand through my long white hair in embarrassment and turned to face my Seiya. I could see that he had an inclining of what I was about to tell him. He'd known I was leaving for the planet Earth today.

"Son, as you know there as been another attack against us. I've found that I'm going to be needed her for awhile. I've decided, with Nephlyte's help, to send you in my stead."

I stood up and walked towards him, taking the amulet from around my neck as I walked.

"Take this and wear it while your gone. This amulet has three uses for you. The first is that when you find someone to your liking, use it to get in contact with us and we'll open another portal to receive the human. Secondly, this will transport you back when your done. The amulets last use is this, if you are in contact with someone, and they have magic, it will show. The brighter it shines, the more they have. And remember, when your searching for soldiers, pick only the able bodied one's. Male or Female. If the show any great skills in battle, all the better. And as a final warning, which I'm sure you already know, Earth is very different from our lives here. I know that I've brought you up with stories of Earth but it will still be a great shock when you first arrive. So saying, I'm sending Nephlyte with you as an advisor."

Seiya started to protest, stopped abruptly, and then nodded in agreement. At Nephlyte's worried look I waved him toward the newly opened portal and left the room in search for my wife, Minako.

Chapter 1

"Oh shit! I'm so late!"

I sped dangerously down the front stairs of my apartment building, skidding to a slower pace when the front doors entered my vision. Not slow enough apparently, I slammed into them, throwing them open so hard that they slammed into the brick outer walls. They released me into the crowded sidewalk, sucking me into the flow of traffic. I zigzagged through the crowd, bumping into people left and right, and bolted at every small clearing of space.

Every time I sprinted forward my book bag would creak dangerously. It was hard for a lone 16 year old to keep herself clothed with the small amount of money I received from my parents insurance. Thank god my brother had been sent to my father's cousins. There was no way I'd have been able to feed and clothe him otherwise.

Thinking of my brother made me forget to watch where I was going. Before long I was airborne with a very hard sidewalk under me. Looks like it was going to be a crash landing.

As shameful as it is to say I think I must have screamed like a girl as I flew towards the sidewalk. As I landed, my hands in front of me as protection, I scraped both my palms and my knees. As a final indignity my book bag strap finally broke and I was pelted with books and papers.

Once I'd recovered significantly from my science book smacking me in the head I scrambled hurriedly to my feet and swung around.

"What the hell are you doing?! You don't tie your goddamn shoe in the middle of the friggin' sidewalk!"

Who said I needed anger management? I think I was going to handle this very well. What do psychiatrists know anyway, eh?
The person I'd sailed over stood up quickly and looked at me worriedly. That in itself stopped me from being able to say anything else.

Why did he have to be cute? Couldn't I just fall over a dork? At least that way I'd have the satisfaction of being able to stomp his ass.

"Umm… heh heh… well… uhh.." I coughed in embarrassment and crouched down to gather my things, damning my pale complexion as I blushed deeply. I tried to let my long hair fall over my shoulders to hide my cheeks and remembered too late that I'd pulled it back this morning. Hell with it. Might has well be myself this morning. What were the chances of seeing him again? Nada that's what. Looking up at him I saw that he had long black hair, pulled back in a low ponytail, and pretty blue eyes. Very cute.

I flinched at the unexpected hand that reached out and prodded my knee painfully.

"Are you okay, Miss?"

Grumbling to myself I slapped the offending appendage way and stacked the rest of my papers into one pile. I cursed quietly when I hefted them off of the ground and found that they seemed to feel a lot heavier when you held them this way then when they were piled into a book bag.

Throwing one last glance in his direction, a glare if you wanted to be technical, I half limped, half shuffled, as fast as I could the few blocks left till I arrived at school.

Later that day

I'd arrived late to homeroom, yet again, and received 'another' detention from Ms. Haruna. The lady handed them out like tissues. Late a few dozen times and the witch gave you a two week detention slip. How fair was that?

Leaning towards my friend Naru I waved towards her to get her attention. At her questioning glance at my knees I explained.

"You wouldn't believe what happened to me on the way to school. I was on my way to school and this dumb dude was squatting on the sidewalk tying his shoe. Suffice it to sigh that Miss Tsukino bite the dust. At the very least I can say that at least he was cute."

Naru laughed unsympathetically at me and I turned away in annoyance. Weren't friends supposed to 'ohh' and 'aww' over your wounds?

A slap on my shoulder made me look towards Naru again. At her glassy gaze I suspected that she'd spotted another cute boy. Following her line of vision I was brought up short.

"Damn! That's the dude I flew over this morning! What the hell is he doing here?!"

"……. You tripped over him? Oh! I wish I had your luck Usagi! Did he tell you his name?!"

"No Naru, I didn't get his name. I was too pissed to talk socially to someone who'd just caused me to eat the dirt. Will you quit staring like that?! It's embarrassing!"

"Class! This is a new student, Seiya (AN: don't know last name off of anime). I want you all to welcome him appropriately, okay? No pulling the 'new kid' pranks!"

Ms. Haruna stared around for a moment before pointing to the empty seat in front of me.

"Usagi Tsukino, I want you to show Seiya around the school and help him find all of his classes. Maybe this will show you some responsibility, neh?"

I groaned audibly, which earned me a poke from Naru, and avoided looking at the smiling visage that Seiya presented.

"Why, hello again! It's nice to know your name. I hope you don't mind having to show me around. This school is very large and I'd hate to get lost."

Before I could stop myself I started thinking about what a nice voice he had. A nice, sexy voice… one that I'd love to hear whispering in my ear… too bad that would never happen. I didn't like getting close to boys. I had enough problems as it were, I didn't need help creating more.
------------------------------------------

After only half a day at school I was already exhausted. Out of the six classes Seiya had on his schedule, four of them where with me. So saying, since I 'was' his guide, we were more often than not paired together. He was so nice it made you want to puke. No matter how snappy I got he just reacted with a smile and a funny comment. It was starting to wear on my nerves.

I was essentially a grumpy person. Happy people seemed to irritate me for some reason. Thank god it was lunch time. My happy thought died a quick death when I spotted two of my mortal enemies, Anne and Alan, coming towards me.

"Hello Usagi. How are you doing? Still a cock teaser?"
"Now Alan, you really shouldn't take out your frustration on poor little me. It's not like I 'knew' that it was too small to use. It's really all your fault. What did you expect me to do? Act like it was in while you humped away?" I said it all in a disgustingly sweet voice, one that made me sound like I'd forgotten about the whole attack. He'd crowded me into a janitor's closet, dropped his pants, and demanded for me to undress or he'd do it for me.

I think he was more sore from me laughing at him than for kicking his ass. I loved to drop little innuendos about his little pecker. Every time I did he'd go all red in the face and act as if he wanted nothing better than to kill me.

Anytime I'd attack Alan verbally Anne was the one to get the maddest. You'd think they were sleeping together or something.

"Why you little BITCH!"

I never actually thought that Anne would try to attack them. The little heifer brought her hand up and slapped the bottom of my tray… causing a large amount of hot chili to tip over and spill down the front of my thin cotton tee-shirt.

I was so shocked that I couldn't even do anything at first. All I could do was stare at her stupidly.

At the burning sensation trailing down my front to stain my jeans I snapped. I tensed the muscles in my right arm, brought it back sharply, and swung at her face with all my might. The dumb cow didn't even try to duck. When my fist smashed into her nose with a satisfying crunch I smiled. This was going to be fun.

Anne's eyes watered up immediately and she cupped her hands to her nose to catch the flow of blood that started to trickle forth at an increasing rate. Alan gaped at the two of us for a second and then started to swing a fist towards me. I easily dodged it by ducking and came back up rapidly, upper cutting the idiot in the chin. As he stumbled backwards I advanced on him. I wanted to get some good hits in before the teachers tried to break us up. I swung my fist out again and hit him solidly in the sternum, knocking the air from him and making him hit the ground gasping.

As I turned around I saw Anne rush me and dodged to the left, leaving my right leg out to trip her. As she fell I brought my knee up to strike her in the chin. Both where out of the fight in a record time of 2 minutes. I'd have to remember to record that one in my half empty journal.

"Miss Tsukino!!!"

Looks like the principal had arrived and a suspension was on the way. At least now I didn't have to worry about dragging Seiya around for the next week.

As I turned to walk towards the exit, principal trailing me, I spotted Seiya staring at me oddly.

Well, hope everyone likes the revised version of this. I've certainly added more to it. Once I have the other chapters completed I'll start writing this fic again. I just wasn't up to it when it looked as bad as it used to. Write me with comments if you'd like. Or… visit my webby at http://www.geocities.com/battie1891/ I'd really love you then lol.
