Sailor Moon Fan Fiction ❯ The Awakening ❯ Chapter Two ( Chapter 2 )
[ Y - Young Adult: Not suitable for readers under 16 ]
It's so nice to be a fic writer…. You have control over vast amounts of information… like… how this story is going to end.. Not that I'd tell any of you lovely souls out there ^_^. Your all going to have to wait. Just pray that this fic doesn't take the route my Fly Away one did. I still haven't finished that one and I started it years ago. I'm so horrible ~_~;. Ah, I don't own SM yet so don't sue me, and don't steal my lovely idea either. I'd hate to have to kick some ass out there.
The Awakening
Chapter Two
While I waited not-so-patiently for the Principal to finish talking to the newly awakened Anne and Alan I had plenty of time to try and decipher what Seiya's look had meant. Could it be that he was shocked by my behavior? Should it really surprise him? I suppose that a new person my think me a bully, after all, he hadn't heard Alan's comments and he didn't know that we bickered back and forth constantly.
I still didn't regret my actions toward Alan. No matter how cute Seiya happened to be.
Just as I started to imagine those lovely blue eyes of Seiya's the Principal opened his office door, waited for the two sulking siblings to march out, and then motioned me inside.
"Miss Tsukino, have a sit over there if you would. Might as well get comfortable. I feel as if we'll be here a while."
Mr. Higawa waited for me to be seated before starting in on me.
"I would dearly like to know why you've been constantly getting into fights Usagi. Are you perhaps, having troubles with school? Or maybe at home? If you keep getting into these kinds of fights I'm going to have to expel you. So far I've been able to get you out of the more serious trouble but if this persists not even I will be able to help you. You're a smart girl. You shouldn't have to be expelled to learn to curve that temper of yours."
I lifted a 'brow at him and looked significantly at the front of my shirt. This one, at least, was not my fault.
"Now, don't give me that look young lady. I know that this 'once' wasn't exactly your fault but the rest of them were. What would you have me do? Let you get away with it every time and never punish you? That wouldn't be a good example to the other students now would it? Consider this your warning, this is the last time that I'm just going to suspend you. Now, go on home and be back here next Tuesday."
I keep my mouth shut, knowing that I was lucky to have gotten off this easily. I knew that I'd pushed the limit's the last few weeks. I'd have to be more careful from now on. Make sure to fight off school grounds.
"I 'do' appreciate this Mr. Higawa. I'll see you next week." Pushing the words out of my mouth and forcing myself to smile benignly at him. While Mr. Higawa smiled at my polite words he knew me well. If he'd not seen me fighting with his own eyes on several occasions he might have actually fallen for it.
I left his office, trailed to my locker to drop my books off, and threw a note explanation into Naru's locker. After that I made my way home.
I really hated school. All the cliques and drama were too much for me to keep up with. I was a loner. I liked to be by myself. Besides Naru, and sometimes Umino, I usually stayed by myself. Rented movies to watch on the weekend and made several trips to the library during the week. Crowds of people made me nervous. Annoying people irritated me. That's probably why I got into so many fights.
When I arrived at my apartment I grabbed a quick sandwich, changed out of my dirty clothes, and wandered toward my comp when I was done. It was always fun to lose myself for several hours writing a fanfic. I loved to watch local Anime shows, and writing stories about them were even more fun. Especially the funny magic girl shows. When I looked at the clock on my screen I saw that it was 6 o'clock. Time to get to work.
I grabbed my bag of equipment and headed out the door towards the arcade. My job consisted of hacking computers, and I was now on the lookout for new costumers. When I arrived Umino waved me over and pointed to a booth in the back of the room. We had an agreement going on. We were both hackers and liked the fact that the two of us were able to help each other out. I was a bit more active then he was. He usually just fell back on hacking when there was a new video game or electronical gadget that he wanted.
As I wandered towards the booth I noticed that the man had sat in the shadows, making sure that I couldn't spot his identity. Wonder why he'd do that? As I arrived at the table I coughed lightly to catch his attention.
"You wanted me?"
"… You're the raven?"
I think the disbelief in his voice was what aggravated me. What ever it was I didn't like it. Not one bit. Maybe it was the name that made people wonder. So I had a fascination with death. What were they expecting when they saw me? A gothic girl with long black hair and heavy makeup?
"Yes, I'm the raven. What do you want?"
"Please.. Have a seat."
As I sat down I got a good look at my 'customer'.
"Seiya?? What the hell are you doing here?"
He laughed softly for a moment. "I can't believe that little Usagi is the best hacker this side of Tokyo. Unbelievable."
I sighed loudly, rubbing my temples to ward of an oncoming headache. "Just tell me what you want so we can be done with this, okay?"
"If you want bluntness, here it is. I need to hack into the local medical, school, and police records and give me the feed back on any outstanding individuals from the ages 16 to 30. Anything outstanding about them like, great physical strength, and fighting skills. Give me a list of all the individuals that have won a great many awards in the physical areas. Know what I mean? I'll pay you ten thousand for it."
I thought about it for a moment. It was a weird request but I 'have' had weirder ones. And that 'was' a rather large amount of money. For me at least. After all, I was a kid hacker.
"Fine. I'll be back to you with the results by Thursday. That good? But, only if you make it 20 thousand."
I wanted to shake him up and see exactly how much I could get out of him. I stared in shock when he nodded quietly and then pulled out a black briefcase. Opening it up he stacked a the money in little stacks filled with thousands, and placed them in a black silk bag.
"I figure I can trust you to have it done. I'll even give you the money in advance."
I played it cool. I didn't want him to think I was inexperienced. I jotted down my address and gave him the paper. "I'll have this ready by Thursday morning. Just stop by and I'll give it all to you."
As I started to get up and leave I was stopped by a restraining hand on my arm.
"Wait. I wouldn't mind talking for a bit if your not adverse to it."
We talked for a few hours, me doing most of the talking, and I left around 9 pm. On the way to the house I pondered over some of the questions he'd asked. I'd ended up telling him of my interest in martial arts, my fencing lessons that my dad allowed me to have from the age 10 to just recently when I stopped from lack of money, and of how I'd even dabbled into using a broadsword for a while.
He'd seemed very interested in it all. He wasn't even turned off by a girl who could probably whip his tail in a hand to hand fight. Very nice thing for a guy to do.
--------------------------
It did indeed only take me a day to do. With my new scrambling device and my over worked printer I soon had stacks of records to give Seiya. I was sure he'd be surprised at the amount of people I'd been able to find. I'd not known that that many people actually did the kind of stuff I did. There were a lot of them out there.
At precisely 9 o'clock Wednesday morning there was a knock at my door. I knew without looking who it would be.
When I opened the door, papers in hand, I spotted an unfamiliar man standing next to Seiya. A man that was probably in his late twenties to early thirties. Very cute too. I beckoned them in, slightly embarrassed by my small tank top and men's boxers. The apartment was looking its best right then either. Ah well. No worries.
Seiya took the papers, looked through them, and smiled at me happily.
"This is really just what I needed. You've done more than you can imagine for me. Which makes me sorry to do this. Really."
I looked oddly at him for a second, and turned to watch his friend pull out a small wooden device, raising it towards me.
"What exactly do you plan on doing with that? Throw it at me?"
I didn't really get to say anything else. He placed it on my forehead before I could react and my vision went black.
