Sailor Moon Fan Fiction ❯ The Geo-Moon Chronicles ❯ Back to Basics ( Chapter 4 )
"I think I'd like to go to my room and unpack today, sir, I'll meet with Commander Wolfehart and let him know that I'll be assuming command starting first thing tomorrow morning. And sir, if you could send the scouts to my room later this evening, I'd like to hold a meeting with them as well."
"All of them, damn you're good." He said. "I should be calling you sir."
"Not that kind of meeting, sir, I'd just need Amy for that one, actually, sir, I'd like them to take double duty tomorrow while I break in the men."
"Well, Commander, that's your call, the Sailor Scouts are a division of RPU. I'll have these jokers let them know as soon as they drop your bags off." He smiled. "By the way, these four are some of your men as well." I smiled.
"Care for a demonstration, Sir?"
"It would be a pleasure." He said. When we finally got to my room, the Admiral opened the door and led us inside. My jaw dropped as I removed my beret.
"This is my chambers?"
"The Queen wouldn't have it any other way. We expect the best, and we give the best." He said. I turned to the four marines.
"Which way is my bedroom?" I asked. He pointed to the back corner. "You four take those bags to the bedroom and leave them there, then come back out here and stand at attention right there by the balcony." They didn't move. "Is there a problem?" I asked.
"Sir, where is the bedroom, sir!" One of them, asked. I stared at him and cut a short laugh before jumping into his face.
"Are you joking? Are you seriously telling me that you ignored what the admiral just said?" I asked. He almost jumped out of his skin. "That man standing over there, put those damn bags down, right face and take a good look at him, now!" I shouted. They dropped the bags and right faced looking at the admiral. "That man has gotten where he is because he is the best in this god damn team, when he says something in your presence you had better get the ear wax out of your god damn ears and hang on every fucking word he says, do you get me?" I asked.
"Sir yes sir!" They said. I turned back to the Admiral Lovette.
"Sir, I apologize for my men's indiscretion, would you be so kind as to direct them to the bedroom." I asked. He pointed to the room again.
"It's directly over there in the rear left corner of the chambers." He said. I looked over at the men.
"why the hell aren't you looking where he's pointing, private?" I quickly drew my sword and held the blade in between his face and the bedroom door. When he turned and saw it he jumped backwards. "God dammit did I tell you to break formation?" I shouted. He quickly shot back to his feet. "You know what, I'm gonna kill someone if you four stick around, take my bags back to that room and get the hell out of here, spread the word, formation in the same room I arrived in tomorrow morning at oh four hundred. Do you know what that means?" I asked.
"It means be there at oh four hundred, sir!" One of them replied.
"No! It means be there at oh three thirty, and be in your place in your training uniform with your eyes forward and your mouth shut at oh four hundred, now move!" I shouted. It took five seconds for them to deposit my bags and leave the room. I tripped one of them on the way out. "Watch your step soldier, recover!" He shot to his feet. "I want you to immediately retrieve the Sailor Scouts and send them to this room, do you understand?" I ask.
"Sir yes sir." He replied.
"Move out." I said. He took off running faster than before. After they were gone Admiral Lovette closed the door and walked up to me.
"Oh I love you!" He said. "That was fan fucking tastic, commander, you make these men as terrified of you as those four, and ooh hoo, this RPU will be the model unit for the entire team to follow."
"They should be, sir. Guardians have much more at stake in their duties than regular marines, as a result they will be more disciplined, and with that higher standard, I will give them greater rewards, when they have earned them." I said.
"Excellent plan of action, Commander. I'm going to leave you to it." He said. I saluted, he returned the gesture, "I almost forgot, here's your wave." He handed me the slip of paper. I accepted it then he smiled and left. I immediately tacked the paper to my wall and went to my bedroom to begin unpacking my things. About fifteen minutes later the scouts arrived with Princess Serena and Prince Darien. I opened the door and welcomed them in shutting the door after them.
"Holy cow, check this place out!" Mina said. "Man oh man, the Admiral must love you to death!" I smiled.
"He does, he told me so when I busted four Guardians in chops today." I said fastening my uniform top shut again. "I've got a lot of work to do, and I need your help."
"What can we do?" Mina asked.
"I'll need you to pull double duties for a week. Two of you on Serena and two of you on Serenity." I said. "It'll take at least a week before I trust any of these freakin' goofs with a weapon." I said shaking my head.
"How are we going to do that for twenty four hours?" Lita asked.
"You're not. I'll post guardians for night watch, you'll have every night from nine in the evening until six in the morning to yourselves."
"I thought you said you weren't going to trust them with weapons?"
"I'll pick out the twelve best soldiers and give them uniforms and weapons. The rest of them will be wearing training garb and carrying false weapons until I've started their re-training." I said. "so, does that sound acceptable to you girls?"
"Sir yes sir." Mina replied.
"Okay then, feel free to make yourselves at home. If any of you want to hit the weights, go swimming or anything during your down time, feel free to come on up. Having all this space to myself is going to be a little too weird for me." I smiled looking around. "No wonder everyone thinks royalty has it made." I looked around. "I can hardly imagine what your room must look like." I said. Serena smiled.
"Pretty much the same, only bigger." She replied. "And mine doesn't have a kitchen." She said. I looked at where she was pointing.
"My own kitchen? Good, I'll finally have a chance to test some of those ideas I had that mom would never try."
"Do yourself a favor and find the fire extinguisher first." Lita said.
"Hey now." I said. Amy suddenly gasped when she looked at the wall.
"Is that what I think it is?" She ran up to look at the wave. I smiled.
"Yeah, the admiral gave it to me when I got here. Said something about if I made him happy with the RPU by the time it expired he'd help me get that law changed, until then I have a restricted wave of immunity."
"Well, well, well, war dog, it looks like you've set yourself up real good for starters." He said. "How long till it's finished with decorating?"
"Oh I don't know, a few weeks maybe, I'm just going to worry about getting my men in shape first. After they start acting like Guardians I'll get a little more settled."
"Two weeks?" He said shaking his head. "That just won't do, what are your favorite colors?" He asked.
"Blue, Black and Gold." I replied. "Why?"
"I'll have the royal decorators in here at five in the morning to get started. In six hours you'll have a room to be proud of." He said. I smiled.
"Cool. Well then, that's all I had for you, and I've got a few more stops to make before I settle in for the night, so if ya'll don't mind, I'd like a few minutes alone with Amy and then you can all be on your way." I said.
"We'll wait outside." Serena said. I smiled and nodded. After they left Amy walked up to me and kissed me.
"Welcome home, commander." She said.
"It's good to be home." I replied. "I wanted to tell you that for the next week or so, I may not be in the best of moods. So if I seem a little gruff, don't take it personal, okay?"
"Okay." She replied. "I guess I'll see very little of you this next week won't I?"
"Maybe not as little as you think." I replied. I ran a hand through her hair. "Take care of yourself, okay?" I asked. She nodded and kissed me again, before walking out. I finished unpacking my room, then I put on my uniform and went to the chow hall to find Commander Wolfehart. As soon as I stepped into the room I was appalled, there was no sense of order in that room. I walked up to the counter to get my food and no one was there.
"You're late, man, gotta get it yourself." a voice behind me said. I turned around and saw a largely built man in front of me.
"Would you mind repeating that, marine?" I asked. He looked at my shoulder boards and jumped back, mortified.
"OFFICER ON DECK, TEN HUT!!!!!!" He shouted. Everyone stood at attention.
"Where the hell are the KP personnel?" I asked.
"Sir, we thought everyone had come through the line, sir!" A voice shouted.
"KP people, get up here!" I shouted. A group of six men ran up to the front. One of them had a twisted nose. "Well, well, well, if it isn't nosey." I said. "didn't imagine that you'd be in my charge did you?" I asked.
"Sir, No sir!" He replied. I nodded.
"Commander Wolfehart, where are you?"
"Right here." He walked up to me.
"What did you just say?" I asked. He looked at my shoulder boards.
"Sorry, sir. I was unaware of your rank, sir." He quickly locked it up at attention. I pointed at the six KP guardians.
"You guys back to your posts!" I shouted. "From this day forward, if you are on KP, you will not eat until the rest of the Guardians are finished with their meals and out of the mess hall. And you six are on KP for the next week, I will be in here for all three meals each of those days. And when I come in here, I want to see what's stuck between my teeth in the tiles of this floor, am I perfectly clear?" I asked.
"Sir, yes sir!"
"You should all consider yourselves lucky that I'm not officially in command of this unit until tomorrow morning." I said. "I don't know if the four knuckle heads told you or not, but there's a training formation tomorrow morning at oh four hundred in the docking bay."
"Sir, it's oh six hundred in the court yard, sir." Wolfehart said quietly.
"What did I say Wolfehart?" I asked. "Did I say oh six hundred in the courtyard?"
"Sir no sir!"
"What did I say, Commander?"
"Oh four hundred in the docking bay, sir."
"And what does that mean?"
"Oh three thirty, sir! In position in training garb with eyes front and mouth shut at oh four hundred, sir!" He shouted. Just then the sailor scouts walked in to get their food.
"You guys eat here too?"
"No, sir, we just get our food here." Mina replied noting the room standing at attention. "But we can come back later if you'd like sir."
"No, actually, I'm glad you're here." I said. "I want everyone to pay attention." I shouted walking around the room. "Let me define that for the mentally impaired. That means shut the hell up and listen to the words coming out of my mouth."
"God this guy's a prick." one of them said. I walked up to him.
"Do you have a problem, marine?" He didn't answer. "I asked you a fucking question, now give me a god damn answer!" I shouted.
"Sir, we are not marines, sir!" He replied.
"Oh, and what are you?"
"Sir, we are royal guardians, sir!"
"Like hell you are." I pointed at the scouts. "They are royal guardians, and do you know why that is?"
"Because of the short skirts, sir." Another one replied. I ran over and punched him in the stomach knocking him to the ground.
"That is classified as sexual harassment marine, and if I ever hear one more word like it coming out of any of your mouths, I will have you thrown in the brig for a god damn year do I make myself clear?"
"Sir yes sir." They replied.
"Now then, here's what's going to happen. And it's going to happen in an orderly fashion. all of you are going to fix your uniforms and wear them properly. Then you're going to sit six to a table, and you're going to eat the rest of this meal in silence. Commander Wolfehart, I'll need to see you in my chambers immediately following chow. And you! Where the hell is my food?" I asked. The KP marines quickly put the food on my tray. "Now then, ladies, you all have a nice evening."
"Thank you, sir." they replied.
"Suck up." Someone said. I stopped immediately. and turned around setting my tray down. "Sailor Scouts, I would ask you to quickly get your tray and go about your business."
"Sir yes sir." They replied having their trays filled and then quickly filing out of the room. I stood there and looked around the room, everyone was eating quietly.
"Who said that?" I asked. No one said anything. I smiled.
"No one wants to take credit for calling Sailor Venus a suck up?" I asked. "Okay then, make that training formation oh three thirty. Have a nice night." I picked up my tray and walked out of the mess hall. the scouts were waiting for me.
"What was that?!?!?" Mina asked.
"Man, I have chills!" Lita asked. I smiled.
"So do they." I replied. suddenly the door opened and one of them stood at attention in front of me.
"Sir, permission to speak, sir." He said.
"What is it, marine?"
"Sir, it was me, sir."
"What was you?"
"Sir, I'm the one who addressed Sailor Venus as a suck up, sir." He replied. I smiled slightly and nodded.
"Well, marine, thank you for stepping forward, it shows intestinal fortitude, though your timing also shows indecisiveness, and the training formation is still at oh three thirty. What's your rank, marine?"
"Sir, Sergeant first class, sir." He replied.
"Mina, what's your rank?"
"Lieutenant Commander, sir." She replied.
"Well then, I'll leave this marine's disciplinary action up to you, Commander, you name it and he'll do it, won't you, marine?"
"Sir, yes sir."
"Fifty push ups." Mina replied. The marine dropped and started doing push ups. "No, no, no, Commander, could you please demonstrate how to properly do a push up for him?" She asked. I smiled.
"Gladly, Sailor Venus." I planted my hands on the ground and kicked upwards until my feet were against the wall. "Come on marine, I'm not doing these by myself." He joined me against the wall. "fifty push ups, let's go." We both did fifty push ups in that style. when he recovered he started rubbing his arms. "Is there a problem, marine?"
"Sir, I think I pulled a muscle, sir." He replied.
"Fine, go see a medic after chow, now get your ass back in there marine."
"Sir, permission to speak freely, sir."
"Go ahead, but make it quick, my chow is getting cold."
"Sir, you'll do push ups with us, but you won't eat with us?" He asked.
"I'm not a part of this unit, yet, marine. starting tomorrow morning you're all going to learn all about me." I replied. "Now then get back in there with your buddies and finish your chow, I'll see you in the morning."
"Sir, yes sir." He walked back in closing the door. I turned and started to walk off with the scouts.
"fifty vertical push ups, good call." I said.
"Why did you do them with him?" Mina asked.
"Because, Mina, those are my men, and though they're going to hate me for a while, if they're ever going to respect me, I can't put myself above them."
"Wow, that's a new concept." Lita said. "When do we get to start joining these little training meets of yours?"
"Well, starting tomorrow I want you to eat your meals in that chow hall, two at a time."
"James, we used to, but we can't handle the cat calls."
"Trust me, Raye, tomorrow there will not be any cat calls." She laughed.
"And exactly how many of them will be able to walk to chow?" She replied.
"Oh they'll all walk to chow, some of them may be limping, but they'll all walk to chow. Breakfast will be served piping hot at oh six hundred." I said. That night I slept peacefully and woke up at two thirty, dressing in my new training garb and moving down to the docking bay. Once there I sat in the position and meditated. The Guardians began showing up a few at a time, and by oh three hundred they were all present. I opened my eyes and stood up smiling.
"Good morning sir." Daniel said saluting. I returned the gesture. He turned to the men. "Form it up!" He shouted.
"Cancel that order, marines, feel free to hang out until oh three thirty." I said. "When I give an order, I expect it to be followed, to the letter. And I said that there was a formation at oh three thirty, not oh three twenty five." None of them moved. "Well then, let me take advantage of this five minutes to say something. I want to apologize to all of you, I was a little harsh on you yesterday. But I want you all to listen to me, and listen good." I said. "You are not guardians." I said. "You are not properly trained as guardians should be. Why that is? I don't know, and I don't care, it's in the past, and I'm willing to start fresh today." My watch's alarm went off. "It's oh three thirty." I smiled.
"Lock it up!" Daniel shouted.
"Hooah!" they shouted in reply.
"I am Commander James Geo." I started. "And for the next week, most of you will not be permitted to go anywhere near a loaded weapon." I said. "But before I get into that, let me tell you a little bit about myself. I am a very fair guy." I said. "If I see talent, I'll promote it, if I see disgrace, I will punish it, but mark my words, all of you, I will see everything you do." just then the admiral and his staff walked in their training garb. "Admiral on deck, ten hut!" I shouted, saluting him. "Good morning, sir!" He returned the salute and they all stepped behind me.
"Good morning, James, why so early?"
"Sir, I wanted to introduce myself to my men before training them, sir!" I answered.
"Okay then, let's hear it." He replied. I turned back to my men.
"As I was saying, for the next week, you will not wear the guardian's uniform. You will perform your duties with false weapons, and in your training uniforms until I see that you are worthy of bearing the title guardian. Where are my KP marines?" I asked. "Nosey, where are you?" The six of them ran to the front.
"KP marines, present, sir!" Nosey said.
"How does that mess hall look this morning, nosey?"
"Sir, you could pick things from your teeth in the reflection, sir!" He replied. I nodded.
"Are you saying I have something in my teeth?" I asked.
"Sir, no sir!"
"Relax, marine, I'm joking, I do that from time to time." I said. "You six, set up a separate formation over there." I pointed to the side. "You will join us for training every morning this week, and you will stay with us until oh four hundred, at which point you will head back to the barracks, shower, dress in the appropriate uniform and resume your KP duties." I stopped. "Which reminds me, the Sailor Scouts are a part of this unit." I stopped. "come on, men, get your cat calls out now." They started cheering and whistling. "They are some fine specimens aren't they?" I asked.
"Sir yes sir!" The men shouted back.
"And those body suits, mm, mm, mmm." I said shaking my head. "Kinda gives you the chills just thinkin' about it, doesn't it?"
"Sir, yes sir!" They replied.
"But do you know what else they are?" I asked.
"Single sir!" One of them shouted. I smiled.
"That too, but I'm talking about something that should be much more obvious than that." I said. "Can anyone tell me what else the Sailor Scouts are?"
"Sir, they're our comrades, sir." Daniel replied quietly.
"Thank you, Commander Wolfehart, could you please repeat that loud enough for all of us to hear you?"
"Sir, they're our comrades, sir!" He shouted. The room was silent.
"The Sailor Scouts are RPU, which makes them your sisters in arms." I said. "Would you whistle at your sister if she wore that uniform?" I asked.
"Sir, no sir!" they shouted back.
"Then I expect you to give them the same respect that you give each other, who knows, some of you may actually land a date with one of them." I said.
"Sir, I wouldn't date my sister either, sir." One of them shouted.
"Really?" I asked. "Then can I get her number?" the others laughed. "Okay then, we're clear on that?" I asked.
"Sir, yes sir!" They replied.
"Good, because starting this morning, they will be joining us for chow." I said. I glanced at my watch. "fifteen more minutes." I said quietly. "Okay, now we're going to address the rules of the game for the next week." I turned to Daniel. "Commander Wolfehart, I need your twelve most disciplined marines up here front and center."
"Sir, yes sir." He said. "Callaway, Dawson, Myers, Jenkins, Frank, Jolly, Markins, Frosty, Jacobs, Howser, Brutis, and Hardball, front and center." He said. The men arrived and stood at the position of attention in front of me.
"You twelve have been granted a waiver of leniency." I said. "Starting tonight, Two of you will guard the queen, and two of you will guard the Princess starting at twenty one hundred hours and ending at oh six hundred hours. You will divide these posts into two four and a half hour shifts. After training today, I'll go into more detail about the how, where, and why, okay?"
"Sir, yes sir." they replied.
"Good, now fall back in." I said. They quickly about faced and returned to their starting positions. The training that day was modified to be more challenging and several of them struggled to keep up, even the Admiral had a difficult time keeping the pace. After wards, though, at oh five hundred, I dismissed the formation sending them to the barracks to shower and change before heading to breakfast. I arrived in the chow hall in a clean training uniform, ten minutes early and stepped inside. The floor was shining, and everything was spotless. I walked up to the counter.
"Officer on deck, ten hut!" One of them shouted.
"Carry on." I replied. "This place looks good, marines, well done, keep this up and you may actually become guardians soon."
"Thank you, sir." One of them replied.
"I need some caffeine, you guys have any soda back there?" I asked. A few seconds later the can was placed in my hand. A few minutes later, the men started arriving and lining up. "Pass the word down the line, no one eats until I give the word." I said to the first one. He turned over his shoulder and repeated the order. It was passed all the way back and they all got their food and sat down, six to a table and waited. A few minutes after six, Amy and Lita arrived grabbing their trays and sitting down at the table I was sitting at.
"Good morning, sir." Amy said.
"And a good morning it is, Sailor Mercury." I said. I then stood up and turned to the men. "Here's how the mess hall will work from this point on. You have thirty minutes from the time that the last marine enters the mess hall to finish eating, you may talk amongst yourselves quietly, but when I get up to leave, so will you. After that, you'll have one hour to freshen up the barracks, afterwards I'll perform a walk through inspection of the barracks appearance, and it should be perfect. If you want to earn those uniforms back, it will be perfect, am I understood?"
"Sir, yes sir!" They replied.
"Good, now then, thirty minutes starting now." I said. Sitting back down. Amy looked around and turned to me.
"James, where did you get these guys?"
"Seriously, and where's the old guys?" Lita asked.
"Believe it or not, these men right here are the RPU marines." I said. "First day on the job and they're already starting to buck up." I said. "It might not be as hopeless as I thought." They finished the meal in silence and then left, Mina and Raye walked in a few minutes later with Serena and Darien. "Royalty on deck, ten hut!" I shouted. The entire room shot to attention silently. Serena coked an eyebrow.
"Um, carry on." She said. "James, would you mind if we ate with you this morning?" She asked. I smiled.
"If your highness wishes to lower herself to eating this slop that we call nourishment, be my guest." I replied. They both smiled and all four of them sat down with their trays eating. Suddenly we were approached by the same Marine who had done push ups the evening before.
"Sir, permission to speak, sir."
"Go ahead." I replied.
"Ma'am, I would like to apologize for my indiscretion yesterday evening, ma'am." He said to Mina. She looked at me for a second and I shrugged.
"What brought the change of attitude, sergeant?" She asked.
"Commander Geo pointed something out that we had never given consideration to before, ma'am." he replied.
"Really? Well, apology accepted, sergeant." He saluted smartly. She stood up and returned the gesture then returned to her meal. "What did you point out to them, sir?" She asked.
"Just the fact that you four are a part of RPU as well, which makes you their comrades, sisters in arms, and then I pointed out that only a really sick bastard would make cat calls at their sister." I said. they looked impressed.
"So what kind of person dates them?" Darien asked. I looked at him seriously shaking my head. motioning for him to not bring the subject up.
"Sir, are you dating a scout, sir?" one of them asked from the table behind us. I sighed and stood up.
"Yes, I am." I replied. The whole room groaned. "But if you hadn't just heard it, would you have known?" I asked. They looked around and shook their heads. "And do you know why that is?" I asked. Again they shook their heads. "It's because I respect that scout the way a woman should be respected. You'll never find me making a fool out of myself whistling and yelling obscenities at any woman, regardless of military position."
"So, we can date them?" Another one asked.
"Sure, I don't see why not." I replied. "As long as it's consensual and you have a wave of immunity." I said.
"Dude, I'm screwed." another one said. the room came alive with low laughter.
"When I said they were your comrades, I meant that, you may think it's sexy to make obscene gestures and comments, but well...let's ask someone who would know, shall we?" They all looked around.
"Sir, yes sir!" they replied.
"Okay then, Sailor Mars, do you find that sexy?" I asked.
"Hell no, sir." She replied. I raised my hands to the sides.
"I rest my case." I said. "Now then, ya'll have five minutes to finish your chow and get to your barracks, eat up." I said. The men finished eating and then filed out of the room heading towards the barracks.
"What just happened here?" Mina asked.
"Well, you girls have been formally inducted into the RPU." I replied. "But you aint seen nothing yet." I said smiling. "Serena and Serenity are going to be assaulted today."
"What?" Serena asked.
"I'm going to assault both you and your mother." I said. "Training exercise." I explained. "I'll be completely unarmed, Serena." I said. She sighed
