The Story Of Sailor Earth: Part One- A Fresh Start
Chapter One-Homecoming
by Ellie Shields

Authors note: For those of you who have been following my stories, I figured I'd try a clean restart of the Sailor Earth saga. I'm using all the same characters, but they now have japanese names! Chiba Kouken (or Kou-chan) is Ellie Shields and Kuragari Ryoku is Demitri. Yep, Demitri's got a last name now. The translations are Earth Guardian for Ellie/Kou-chan, and power in darkness for Demitri/Ryoku, since he manipulates the dark energies.

"There she is! Kouken, over here!" Mamoru waved to a clueless looking brown-haired girl. She looked about, slightly confused, then made her way to Mamoru.

"I'm sorry, Mamoru, I'm just not used to being called Kouken again..." The girl smiled as she handed Mamoru one of her suitcases. She then used her free arm to hug her brother. The two of them stood in the middle of a bustling airport, surrounded by people on all sides. Mamoru wrapped his free arm about her too, and they held each other like that for a few moments.

"It's been so long, Mamo-chan..." Kouken looked up at Mamoru, her brown eyes filled with emotion. Her hair, silky and brown, was done up in four buns, the rest of her long hair flowing down to the middle of her back. Mamoru, with his blue eyes and short black hair, looked at his younger sister, who resembled his mother so much it hurt him.

"What...what was your name in America, Kouken?" Mamoru was obviously holding back tears as they walked towards the exit.

"It was Elisabeth... Elisabeth Shields, but mostly everyone called me Ellie. My foster parents thought it better that I had an American name, so I could at least try to fit in." Kouken bit her lip at memories of America. She went there when she was 5 years old, having spent two years in a Japanese orphanage with her brother after the accident that took their parents. Her foster family was friendly, but treated her differently than they did their biological children. She knew she had a family out there somewhere, and now that she was 16, she wanted to go find her brother.

"I don't think Ellie fits you very well, my little Kou-chan," Mamoru said as they arrived at the doors that led to the parking lot. He pushed the door open and held it open for Kouken, and she smiled at him as she walked through the door. Together they walked to Mamoru's red sports car.

"Oh, Mamoru, your car is so nice!" Kouken said as he opened the passenger door for her. Mamoru just smiled as she climbed into the car and shut the door behind her. He then went to the trunk and put Kouken's suitcases inside, and after shutting the trunk, he opened the driver door and climbed in. And a few minutes later, they were on the road to the Juuban district of Japan.

"So, are you excited about being back in Japan, Kouken?" Mamoru said.

"A little bit... I'm a little scared, too." Kouken looked out the window at the large buildings speeding by as they drove. After a time they came to a stoplight, and Mamoru looked at his little sister. He noticed a heart shaped brooch pinned to her shirt, and asked, "Hey, Kou-chan...where'd you get that heart-shaped pin? Don't tell me you've got a boyfriend..."

Kouken blushed at this, trying to think up an answer, because he'd surely never believe the truth about where it came from. "Uhmmm... a friend of mine gave it to me as a going away present. She thought it was pretty and that it looked good on me..." She blushed slightly as she spoke.

"Ahh, I see." The light turned green, and Mamoru sped on his way again. They rode in silence until Mamoru stopped the car once more.

"We're here, Kouken." He smiled warmly at her, and she returned the smile. They both got out of the car, and both went to the trunk to get Kouken's luggage. Each of them grabbed a suitcase, and then headed towards the front door of Mamoru's apartment complex.

"Wow, this place is big," Kouken said as they went through the doors and to the elevator.

"Yep, it sure is," Mamoru said with a smile. "You'll love our apartment, it has a beautiful view of the city. I've got a room ready for you, I hope you like it. It's been so long since I've seen you, and I'm not sure of what you like anymore." The elevator doors opened, and out stepped a girl the same height as Kouken, with blonde hair pulled up into two odangos.

"Mamo-chan!" she cried as Mamoru and Kouken walked into the elevator. "I was just at your apartment, and nobody was there! But now I remember, you were picking up your sister at the airport! Hi, I'm Tsukino Usagi, Mamo-chan's girlfriend." Usagi extended her hand, and Kouken took it.

"I'm Chiba Kouken, formerly Ellie Shields..." Kouken decided instantly that she liked Usagi. Her bubbly happiness was contagious, and she broke out into a smile.

"I helped Mamo-chan decorate your room, I hope you like the color purple!" Usagi giggled, and at that point the elevator had stopped, at the 7th floor. The doors opened, and they headed down the hall.

"Our apartment number is 724, remember that just in case you go wandering around town." Mamoru smiled at Kouken again.

"Okay, Mamo-chan," Kouken said with a smile. They all stopped in front of 724, and Mamoru unlocked the door. The three of them headed inside.

"Put down your suitcase, Kouken, I want to show you your room!" Usagi grabbed Kouken's hand and dragged her through the living room, to Kouken's new bedroom. Usagi threw open the door, and Kouken smiled happily as she saw the beautiful pastel purple walls and the matching purple bedding. Purple curtains with little bunnies on them ("I picked them out," Usagi proudly pointed out) hung at the window, and a pink cat sat snoring on the bed.

"The kitty is a friend of my cat, Luna..." Usagi trailed off as Kouken squealed.

"Aphrodite? You've been gone for weeks, was this where you were?" She rushed to the bed and threw her arms around the now awake pink cat. Aphrodite mewled in approval.

"How the heck did that kitty get all the way to Japan?" Mamoru asked, puzzled.

"Trust me, if she wants to do something, she'll find a way." Kouken smiled happily as she held Aphrodite in her arms.
