The Story Of Sailor Earth Part 1
Chapter Two:
by Ellie Shields
Late that night, Mamoru sat in the living room, the moonlight streaming in through the window the only illumination in the room. In his hands he held four stones, and as he meditated, a light surrounded the four stones, and slowly four figures began to materialize in the middle of the living room.
"Master..." the tallest figure said. As they materialized, it was made clear that these were four men, clad in grey uniforms. The one who spoke had long, ice-blue hair; the one next to him on his right had wavy copper hair pulled back in a ponytail; the one on his left had short blond hair; and the one to the far right had long, wavy brown hair.
"My four generals..." Mamoru smiled. "Kunzite, what news do you have for me?"
"Endymion, we sense someone with a strong Earth presence..." Kunzite's blue eyes narrowed in worry as he shook his head, his icy blue hair floating about his shoulders.
"I've sensed it too, but I haven't been able to pinpoint it... It's only seemed to be near since Kouken arrived..." Mamoru exchanged a thoughtful glance with each of his generals... Jadeite, Kunzite, Zoicite, and Nephrite...
"Could she be the long lost female Senshi of Earth?" Nephrite said.
"I'm not sure it's her..." Mamoru sighed.
"Mamo-chan?" Kouken mumbled from her bedroom. Kunzite smiled knowingly, and the four of them vanished.
"Hai, Kouchan?" Mamoru turned to face Kouken's doorway, where she stood in her pajamas.
"I thought I heard you talking to someone," she said, then shook her head. "I must have been dreaming."
"I think you were, hon... I was just reading a book."
"I knew it.... See you in the morning, Mamoru," Kouken said as she shut the door to her bedroom and crawled back into bed, next to Aphrodite, who was fast asleep. She shut her eyes and fell into a beautiful dream world...
*^*^*
"Endia..." a male voice softly whispered.
"Who's there?" Kouken called out, confused. She felt as if she knew the name Endia from somewhere, but couldn't put her finger on it.
"Endia!" The voice called again, and she turned around to see a white haired young man with a golden horn, like a unicorn's horn protruding from his soft hair. He wore white robes trimmed with blue, and his red-brown eyes looked at her with friendliness.
Kouken looked back at him, and felt something stir inside her... long lost memories, pulled up from the past... "Elios?" Kouken said hesitantly.
He smiled. "You remember."
Kouken shook her head. "I only remember your name.... I don't remember where I know you from, but something tells me that I know you."
"Then I will help you remember, my princess." Elios smiled and extended a hand to Kouken, and she hesitantly took it. Bright light traveled from where his hand touched hers and engulfed her entire body, transforming her pajamas into a long green and blue gown.
"What is this..." Kouken shook her head, and realized that her hair had grown from its usual length (when done in odaongs, it hung to the middle of her back). It was now brushing the floor, and Kouken became alarmed.
"Elios, why is my hair this long? Where'd this dress come from?"
"Endia, all this will be explained to you. You are a princess, a princess of Earth. I am your family's guardian priest." Elios smiled, and touched a finger to her forehead. Suddenly, memories came flooding back.
*****
The scene showed Kouken as a young child, wearing a blue dress, being chased around a flower garden by a girl with blonde hair done up in odangos. Elios sat off towards the side of the garden, watching the children play. Kouken fell into a rose bush and began to cry, and a boy with long black hair, his hands and lower arms covered by black leather gauntlets, walked over to her and used one of the spikes on his gauntlet to remove a rose thorn that was embedded in Kouken's arm after she fell.
The same garden a few years later.... A 9 year old Kouken sat at the back, behind rows and rows of flowers. The black haired boy, who was now visibly older than Kouken, made his way through the garden to Kouken. It seemed they were arguing, but after a minute, they kissed.
Again, the scene showed Kouken, but this time at 10 years old, sick in bed. The black haired boy entered Kouken's room with a box of tissues, and they talked for a bit. After a while, the voices of the two could be heard.
"Oh, Kou-ko..." He wrapped his arms around her. "Why's everyone sick?"
"Better question ::achoo:: Uh, why aren't you sick?" Kouken asked the boy in a nasal voice.
"Being an immortal has its plusses." He smiled, but then frowned. "But you're an immortal too."
"But you're a big strong guy," Kouken pointed out. She smiled weakly and hugged him again. "I'm an immortal?"
"I think. I don't think fate would have soulmates who lived different life spans," The boy, now heading into manhood, sighed as he stroked her silky brown hair.
"Aren't you happy we're soulmates?" Kouken asked, looking up at him.
"Yes and no. Yes because I've found true love, but no because you're a weakness."
"I'm not a weakness!" Kouken said indignantly.
"To someone with a lot of enemies, you are." He smiled. "I can't be distracted by your beautiful eyes while I'm fighting, right?"
"Yeah, I guess." Kouken sighed. "Do you really love me?"
"Yes, and I will always love you. Through good times and bad. For better or for worse, for richer or poorer, I will."
"Are you proposing?" Kouken asked, slightly shaken.
"No, but when we meet again you can try to get me to. But for now, I must leave."
"I understand and I love you." Kouken hugged the boy tightly.
"I love you too," he said as he kissed the top of her head. "I love you too."
*****
"Elios..." Kouken said as she removed his hand from her forehead gently. "Can you tell me the name of the black haired boy?"
"That, my dear, will be revealed to you in time." He smiled knowingly and placed his hand on her forehead again, and Kouken welcomed the flood of long-lost memories.
*****
More scenes flashed before her eyes... of the black haired boy, now a man, proposing to her... Of a wedding, her wedding, interuppted by an enemy attack... Being evacuated to the Moon... and her last moments, spent fighting for her family and her love...
"I need to do this... They would want me to....so I can protect everyone." She reached unside the pocket of her dress and took out a heart shaped brooch.
"Earth Elements of Love Make Up!!"
And after the transformation had taken effect, Sailor Earth stood where Kouken had, her staff in hand, ready to fight. She dashed out of the collapsing castle to see the shock of her life- the limp forms of Princess Serenity, and Prince Endymion, her dear brother, Serenity's love. After a moment, it hit her.
"Endy....Serenity...." Her eyes teared up. "NOOO!!" she wailed, tears streaming down her cheeks. She gripped her staff and dashed at the nearest Negaverse being, which just happened to be Malachite, the head of Queen Beryl's Four Generals.
"Ahh, another pretty twit they've been hiding. This should be fun." He sneered and drew his sword. Sailor Earth responded by holding her staff up in a defensive pose, ready for action.
"You will pay for what you've done." Her eyes screamed with hatred.
"And you, my dear, shall die like the rest."
"Earth Elements ATTACK!!"
A bright, dazzling array of the elements surrounded Malachite. Fire, water, air and earth encircled him as the attack flew into full force, but did no damage to him.
"You think you can beat me?"
She groaned as she kept the attack going, even though it was quickly sapping her strength.
"Ellie!" she heard a familiar voice cry. "Stop! He's too strong for you!" But it was too late. Malachite redirected her attack back at her, sending her flying into a wall. She smashed against it with a sickening thump, then slid to the ground. She struggled to get up, staff still in hands, but she fell to the ground once again as she realized her strength was just about gone. The black haired man rushed to her, picked her up, and cradled her in his arms.
"No, Kou-ko, you can't leave me..." He was openly crying, something his tough exterior never allowed or even hinted at.
"I...can't help...it..." Her voice was barely a whisper.
"I love you, Kouken, just hang on, Serenity can heal you!"
"I don't think...I can last much...longer..." Her eyes closed, and her body trembled in pain.
"Don't forget me...I'll always love you....you...you're in my heart."
"And you're....you're in mine..." His body shook with his sobs, and he leaned his head down for one last kiss. A shadow loomed over the two, and as their lips touched a sword plunged into the black haired man's back, straight through to Kouken's heart. His eyes went wide in shock, fresh tears flowing down his cheek. Kouken screamed her last scream, a pain and anguish ridden wail
"That'll teach them to mess with the Negaforce."
The dark haired man fell forward, still holding Kouken, their blood now mingling with each others as the last ounces of life fled from their bodies.
"Kou-ko.....I love you..."
And they died, holding each other tightly amidst the ruins of the once glorious Moon Kingdom. Elios, from a distance, had witnessed the whole thing, and in horror, fell to his knees, crying, just as Queen Serenity sent everyone to their new futures. He, too, was encompassed in light and sent back to the ruins of Elysion, the palace where Endymion and Endia(Kouken) had grown up. From that moment on, he guarded the empty castle...
*****
And with that last memory Elios willingly lifted his hand from her head.
"Now you know your past," he said quietly, as Kouken sobbed.
"Oh, Elios..." She fell forwards, and Elios caught her. "Why did they have to do all that to us?" Elios held her tightly, and her arms wrapped around his back. "What happened to everybody? I know that I came back, but what about everybody else?"
"They surround you right now, even as you sleep. Why, even your dear brother Endymion is still your brother today, asleep in the room next to you." Kouken's eyes widened in disbelief.
"What about Serenity... and the others? What about the black-haired boy?"
"You have already met Princess Serenity... and you shall soon meet your black-haired prince." Elios smiled, his red-brown eyes filled with emotion. "Princess, I'm glad that I got to see you again, and I'm glad I got to make sure you were alright. But now, you must wake from the land of dreams and tell your brother what you know..."
And at that, her eyes flew open, and she sat upright in her bed. It was still dark in the room, and the alarm clock showed 4:47. She climbed out of bed, and crossed the dark room with an unseen grace, her hair still brushing the floor. She opened her door and walked down the hall to Mamoru's room, and entered it. He lay sleeping, and she went over to him and gently shook him.
"Endymion... Endy-chan, wake up," Kouken said. Mamoru was roused awake at the sound of the name Endymion.
"Kouken... how did you know?" Mamoru's eyes widened in suprise, and took a good look at his sister. Her hair seemed longer than it was earlier that day, and she seemed to have an unearthly glow about her. Behind her, another figure appeared.
"I told her, my prince." Elios stepped up from the back of the room and stood next to Kouken. "She needed to be awakened, a new danger will be threatening us soon..."
"Are you sure, Elios?" Mamoru asked.
"I feel the distubances deep in the earth, my prince..." Elios sighed. "Please be careful... I must leave you now." Elios bowed, and then faded.
"Kouken..." Mamoru said as he looked at her. The unearthly glow that had surrounded her minutes ago had faded, and her hair seemed back to its normal length. She smiled weakly, then climbed onto his bed.
"I knew why I had to find you, Mamo-chan," Kouken said. "We have such a strong bond... it was like part of me was missing."
"I'm happy I have you back, my little Kou-chan." Mamoru smiled, and they hugged each other.
