I own nothing!! I wish I did because I'd be doing unspeakable things to the characters right now but I don't *sniffle* oh well, onward!!
“ Gojyo…I'm afraid I've fallen terrible in love with you.”
The redhead in question sighed and leaned back, taking a long slow drag from his cigarette, the words reverberating in his head.
He couldn't help but smirk a little as he thought about it. It was such a Hakkai thing to say. So very like him, incredibly polite but surprisingly blunt at the same time.
Thinking back, he knew he probably shouldn't have laughed when Hakkai confessed this to him, but the statement had taken him aback and caused him to laugh in a state of shock.
“ What are you kidding me?” he'd exclaimed, laughing out loud. “ You can't honestly be serious!”
Hakkai's green eyes had fallen at Gojyo's unexpected reaction but he kept his smile. Always with that damn smile.

“I'm sorry, you're right Gojyo. I don't know what I was thinking. I think I'll go out for a little while to get our supplies for tomorrow. Please, forget I said anything, okay?”
And with that, the healer left, closing the door behind him and not looking back.

Another sigh escaped him and Gojyo closed his eyes slowly. It had been a little over two hours since Hakkai had left and the redhead's guilt had only intensified as the moments passed.
He was fully aware of Hakkai's ability to take care of himself but his easy-going demeanor and kind smile often made him appear an easy target and that worried him.
Not only that, but Gojyo was beginning to question what had brought on such a sudden confession. One minute they were taking about the distance to their next town and what they should stock up on while they were in this one and the next Hakkai is confessing his love for the lecherous, skirt-chasing water sprite.
Not that the attraction wasn't mutual. To be completely honest, Gojyo had always been infatuated with his green-eyed friend but had no intention of actually verbalizing said attraction until this little confession had decided to raise it's ugly head. First off, Gojyo was supposed to be into women, simple as that, that's what he was known for. Second, he still assumed Hakkai was in love with Kanan. Yay, love triangle!
Realizing his cigarette had now reduced itself to nothing but a stick of ash, the redhead slowly unfolded his body and stood up. He cracked his neck carefully and tossed the spent cigarette into a small trash can by the door.
“ Guess I should go find Hakkai and apologize.” he murmured, to himself more than anything else. There was really no telling what Sanzo and Goku were doing, not that he cared.
Gojyo shrugged on his jacket and stepped out into the hallway, walking toward the front door, waving to the man at the front desk as he walked by.
Night had fallen, cool and clear like most spring nights do, but the air was alive with electricity and the excitement that comes with a bust town after the sun sets. Shops were closing their doors for the day while restaurants and bars were opening theirs.
Gojyo passed quite a few attractive women who were busy offering their services for the night. Normally, he would have snatched one up in a heartbeat but not tonight. Tonight he was on a mission. He weaved his way through and around people, his crimson gaze alert and watchful for any sign of the brunette.
He walked the length of the town in long strides, checking each available market stand and shop for Hakkai. His irritation began to blossom into fear as he ended his second trip down main street with still nothing.
“Ah Christ, Hakkai. Where the hell did you go?” Not only was he about to burst at the seams with guilt but fear for the MIA healer had begun to make him panicky.
Horrible questions began to race through his mind. What if he'd been ambushed by a rogue group of youkai? He knew Hakkai was more than capable of taking care of himself but if he'd been attacked and incapacitated he would be helpless.
Gojyo's heart started to pound and he walked faster, his movement stiff and tense. He passed a group of people beginning to form in front of a bar window and paused to look inside.
And there was Hakkai, sitting calmly across from a group of men, some unconscious and others on the fast track to being that way.
“Hakkai…?” Gojyo muttered quietly.
“Isn't he something?” A middle-aged man offered, grinning widely. “He's been sitting there for about two and half hours now, drinking steadily the whole time. If I didn't know any better, I'd say he's gone through at least four bottles of Sake all by himself. He's drank every man in the bar to the floor and he's just a little guy himself!”
Gojyo watched speechlessly for a few more seconds before finding his voice. “ Yeah, he's definitely something alright.”
Gojyo watched speechlessly for a few more seconds before finding his voice. “ Yeah, he's definitely something alright.”
He pushed his way past the crowd and walked in just as Hakkai finished off a bottle of 151.
The man across from him gagged sharply and fought to keep down the
