Baku stroked Zero's cheek gently while the knight slept in bed. Every time Baku moved to even leave the room for a second, Zero would have a fit, like Baku was going to get his head chopped off if he was away. So he stayed by Zero's side.

Kane walked into the room, and looked at Zero. " How is he?" he asked.

" Not any better," Baku sighed. " But at least he stopped crying ans is asleep…" Kane walked over to Baku, then knelt down next to him.

" Bakunetsumaru, there is something I feel you should know." Baku knew it wasn't going to be good from his tone. " What?"

" Two things; most importantly, Zero is more than likely not going to recover from this is he isn't now." Baku's heart dropped. " But you can save him." Baku looked up at Kane.

" Just me?"

" Only you," Kane said. " I can't, I don't have that kind of power…but you do." Baku tilted his head questionably. Kane sighed.

" Zero is going to kill me later for saying this….but…well," Kane went and explained that he had been marked by Zero, and how it was a complete accident that he did it. He also told the musha about how he and Zero were almost linked mind and spirit now because of the marks. Kane thought he was going to throw a tantrum, but instead, the musha looked delighted.

" Really??" Kane blinked. " You're not mad at Zero?"

" Why should I? Our lives are linked together, and that's all I've ever wanted with him." Kane smiled sadly at Baku's naivety. He felt out a few big details, but if he told him now, he may never agree to anything.

" Very well. Place you hand on his chest." Baku did that. " You know how to call forth inner strength, right?"

" Yeah."

" Good, do that, and concentrate it into Zero."

" This seems kinda easy…why can't you do it?"

" There's more, but just do it. You'll know what you need to do soon." Baku closed his eyes, and concentrated his will into Zero.

He suddenly felt a jolt as something held him back. " The hell…?" Baku whispered with his eyes still closed.

" Break through it."

" I…don't know how…"

" Just try." Baku concentrated on breaking down whatever it was that held him back, but pulled his hand away.

" …I can't do it." Kane sighed. He stood up. " You tried." Baku looked down.

" What was that?"

" His mind." Baku looked up at Kane. " His mind has been broken up. But the thing you felt was what made it break." Baku blinked.

" …how did you know I felt that?" Kane stiffened. " …Never mind that," Kane said. " Just try working on that. You need to see what happened to him back at the cave, and make it go away." Kane went to the door.

" Kane, something happened to you," Baku suddenly said, making the knight stop. " You went through something like this, didn't you?" Kane said nothing, then left. Baku sighed, then looked back at Zero. He took his hand in his and nuzzled it.

" My knight…please tell me what's hurting you…" Zero didn't say anything. But he did hold Baku's hand tightly. " I wish I knew what you saw…."
