A couple of days after Zero's incident, and just before the tag team fights, Zero was starting to get up and walking, and doing what he normally does….only he doesn't talk. The only person he talked to was Baku, which isn't but a few words every now and then.

Baku held Zero's hand as they walked down to the tournament grounds. Tightening his grip, he looked over at the knight. " Are you sure you'll be okay doing this, koi?" Baku asked softly. Zero nodded, but didn't look at his partner. Baku turned Zero to look at him and kissed him. " Okay…" They continued to the tournament, though Baku still wasn't too sure about Zero fighting. Kane said it was probably a good idea for Zero to participate, but Baku didn't think so.

They got there and found Kane leaning against a wall in the hallway. " What took you two?" he said. " Let's go. We're up first." Zero and Baku followed the dark knight out of the hall, and into the battle arena. It was your typical arena; there was a platform to battle on, and grass surrounding it.

" Welcome to the Dark City Battle Dome!!" the announcer said into a microphone to the audience that surrounded the stadium. " Today we have Team Pirate verses team Gundam Force! Gentlemen, choose your fighters for the first round!!" The crowds were cheering anxiously for the match to begin.

" Okay, who's going first?"

" We should see who they pick first," Kane said. They saw that the fighter was a Gundam with a similar body like Captain's, only there was a pirate symbol on its head, and he looked darker.

" The Pirate Brothers…" Kane muttered. Baku looked at him. " Who?"

" The Pirate Brothers. They travel the galaxy haunting ships, and plundering and killing for sport." Baku looked up at the pirate Gundam. " I'll--"

Zero started going up the steps onto the arena. " Zero?!" Baku grabbed Zero's hand to stop him. " What are you doing??"

" ….Fighting…"

" Oh hell no!" Kane put a hand on Baku's shoulder and pulled him back. " Let him go, Bakunetsumaru." Baku shook his head.

" I only listened to you to let him come because you said seeing a fight would help him! You said nothing about participating!!" Baku looked back at Zero, who was already in the ring. " Zero!!"

" Alright, we have Zero the Winged Knight VS Kliff Crusher!" The announcer said. " Ready, set….FIGHT!!"

Kliff snickered while pulling out his dagger. " Well, well, well. Looks like the rookie wants to play with the big boys," he said. Zero said nothing, nor looked at his opponent. " What's the matter? Too scared to look at me?" He waited for Zero to move, but the knight didn't even twitch. Kliff narrowed his eyes. " Fine then, die without saying anything!" Kliff readied to charge at Zero, but the knight shot his left hand up, his palm facing Kliff.

Instead of blue energy creeping up his arm, the ground beneath the knight started to grow dark as wisps of black mist swirled into the air at his feet. It started to rise higher until it lapped over Zero, looking well alive yet transparent like black silk. He made a fist, causing he black mist to quiver, and in a flash, slither towards Kliff at lightening speed,; the wisps becoming sharp points.

Kliff didn't even have time to utter a gasp as the dark energy pierced through him, tearing at his body until his body parts were scattered. The mist floated above the scattered remains of Kliff, then evaporated into the air like water in fast motion.

The audience gawked at how fast the match ended.

" Well…there you have it!" The silence broke from the announcer. " Zero is the winner!!" The crowd started cheering and whooping as Zero slowly lowered his arm, and gracefully walked down with an ominous presence about him.

Baku stood transfixed in horror of what he saw. " Z-Ze….ro…?" Zero stopped beside his lover, but didn't look at him.

" I'm not taking any chances. I will eliminate all that stand in front of us and Litho…I will win at all costs." With that said, the knight continued down to the wall and leaned against it.

Bakunetsumaru knew Zero had finally snapped now. His sanity was lost from the cave, since he knew that Zero would never say such a thing. Zero was never the one to be so barbaric, so…

Merciless.

" I'll fight next," Kane announced while stepping up to the arena. Baku stared at Zero in disbelief.

" Zero…." Baku knew the Zero he loved was gone and wasn't going to come back.
