Back to the Beginning...Ch 4


Friends in need are only true friends if they also are willing to make a sacrifice instead of having someone else do it by themself...Yet, true friends can even turn there backs on you, as Sonic was about to find out...and his life would forever be changed by his encounter with Tails...

"Sonic! I found him!"


Sonic turned around towards the West, having heard Sonie's voice that he had found Tails. "Be right there!"


Sonic made a mad dash for Sonie's position, but instead found himself unable to move. Sonic looked around and everything had frozen to a complete stand-still.


"What the-?!" Sonic looked around to find the culprit who had used Chaos Control on him and his friends, and saw a truly unbelievible site: The one behind the Chaos Control was none other then Tails.


"It can't be!!" Shadow looked in horror as the young fox lifted his arms up, summoning a swirling vortex of fire and aiming it at Shadow. "Oh, shit!! This is not good!" Shadow tried, vainly, to break the Chaos Control but to no avail.


Tails was about to fire the vortex of fire when a red echinda clobbered him in the kisser. "Take that!" Knuckles didn't know why he was fighting Tails, he only knew that Tails had caused the Chaos Control and only he knew how to break through the time shift.


Tails, seemingly, fell limp to the ground, but as the Chaos Control wore off and Sonic went towards him, Tails' body suddenly levatated off the ground, his blue eyes now filled with fire as he gave a zombie-like glare to Sonic.


"Tails! What are ya doin'?! We're your friends!" Sonic yelled at the, seemingly, mindless fox boy, but only got an energy blast for his troubles. "Thats not Tails! That looks like him, but he would never hurt me or anyone that was his friend! We've gotta find a way to stop this attack!" Sonic tried to think of a way to free the young boys mind of this spell that he was apparently under while trying to dodge Tails' attacks at the same time.



"Let me handle this, Sonic!" Knuckles roared as he went to deliver a knock-out blow to Tails' head.


"No!! Don't hit him! You'll kill 'em!" Sonic jumped up in the air and took the blow instead of Tails, while Knuckles got a roundhouse kick to the groin.


"That...little-!" Knuckles wasn't able to finish his sentence as Tails flung his two tails around and slammed Knuckles into the street below, leaving a good-sized gash on Knuckles' left cheek-bone from his tail attack.


"You will never defeat me, Sonic the hedgehog! I will finally have my revenge and take pleasure in burning your bones and devouring your soul to the underworld!" Tails spoke with a different voice, almost like an evil, paranormal voice that spoke from his mouth. "Once I collect the seven Chaos Emeralds my power will be unstoppable! The time has come for me to end this little game right now!!" Tails levatated in the air for a bit and summoned Chaos Control again, however, he wasn't done there.


"Tails, listen to me! You've gotta stop doing this! This isn't you!!" Sonic tried desperately to speak sense into his best bud but only got an empty glare.


Suddenly, Tails reeled back and fired razor-sharp projectiles at Sonic and the others, the Chaos Control making them unable to do anything about this painful barrage. Slice after slice, each one that connected made them wince in pain as Tails stopped attacking.



Sonic was able to get one last glance before he blacked out...

< br> "Sonic?...Sonic...Sonic! Wake up!"


Sonic slowly opened his eyes, his body still hurting after his friend Tails attacked him and the others.


"Whoa, I feel like I've been run over by a mack truck! Where am I?" Sonic questioned as he looked around, Amy was right next to him, but there was no one else to be found.


"We were captured by Tails...I couldn't believe it! He told me that I either let Michael go with him or he'd destroy all of us. I couldn't risk Michael's safety, so I chanced it and swung my hammer at Tails' head...That was the last thing I can remember...now I find myself here..." Amy said with a very concerned voice, she didn;t know what to think as of late. Her son had been injured, Tails ran amok and now she was clueless as to where she was.


"Good evening, enjoying your stay?" A loud chuckle escaped Tails' lips as he stared through the cell bars keeping Sonic from tearing him limb from limb. "You really have caused me quite a good amount of trouble in the past, Sonic. I swear, after our last battle, I never thought I'd get the chance to face you again." The voice spoke in a voice that seemed strangely familiar to Sonic and Amy.


"Who are you, anyway?" Sonic questioned, getting a slap in the face from Tails.


"You don't even recognize your ol' buddy, Tails?!" The voice spoke in an outrage, but Sonic knew this was not the Tails he knew. "Well, I guess I can't keep it a secret anymore...time for me to reveal my true form!!" The voice spoke as Tails suddenly went limp and just collapsed on the floor. An ominous glow arose from his motionless body, as a spirit in the shape of a hedgehog appeared before Sonic and Amy. "Long time no see...Sonic...you prick!"


"Blade!! How the hell did you manage to survive our last fight?!" Sonic shouted, absolutely horrified that his greatest nemisis to-date was standing, or rather floating, infront of him.


"Oh, it wasn't as easy as you may think! After I had died and my spirit was sent to the underworld, I managed to get a few other spirits to help me find another body to replace my former one. After much painstaking work, I managed to come across your good buddy, Miles Tails Prower!" Blade said, laughing hysterically at this.


"You monster!!" Sonic was full of rage, tears streaming forth from his eyes as he realized that his best bud didn't even know it until it was too late.


"He actually put up quite a fight, so you know...yes, Sonic, I can read your mind..." Blade turned serious in less then a second as he sliced through the bars and grabbed Sonic by the neck. "You realize how long I've waited to finally destroy you, hedgehog?!?!" Blade threw Sonic into a cell wall in a fury, his teeth turning razor as his spirit sorm suddenl;y became flesh. "I swear, the way you killed me in the past was absolutely mind-boggling! I think that this time will be quite diferent, though!" Blade roared as he grabbed Sonic's neck and summoned a ball of energy in his other hand.


"NO!! Leave him alone!!" Amy suddenly jumped up and whacked Blade across the face with her hammer, but Blade merely used his other hand to grab Amy's neck.


"You fools! You're going to be the first ones to suffer the same fate that I did so many years ago!!" Blade screamed as he flung Amy across the room, knocking her unconsious when she hit a wall. He kept Sonic in his grip, however, his spirit suddenly shooting through Sonic's body, not going through him, Blade took over Sonic's body.


"Ah, now THIS feels great!!" Blade roared in triumph as he felt unbelieveable speed surge through his legs.


"SONIC!! NO!!!!!" Shadow suddenly appeared, using all his energy just to teleport himself to where Sonic was. "You animal! You stole Sonics soul!! I won't let you get away with this!!!" Shadow suddenly burst forth with a fit of anger and rage, delievering a crushing roundhouse kick to Sonic's chest. The kick was so hard in itself that Blade's spirit was unable to remain inside of Sonic as the spirit flew out of Sonic's body.


"You haven't seen the end yet, you fool!!" Blade suddenly went to engulf Shadow when another spirit attacked Blade first.


"What?!" Shadow looked around him to find who had attacked Blade and found a young boy with dark-green pants, a white shirt and headphones standing where Blade had been.


"That was close, Yoh. If we had been any later, I doubt Shadow would've lived." A spirit spoke to the young boy, suddenly becoming visible as Shadow gawked at what was going on.


"Is he going to be alright, Amidamaru?" Yoh asked his spirit.


"I'm sure he will be." Amidamaru replied, looking at Shadow, who was about to wet himself.


"What...are you?!" Shadow called in shock, his legs quaking relentlessly.


"Calm down, man, we're here to help you and your friend. Now, just stand back and let me get your friend back to life." Yoh calmly said to Shadow. Yoh whistled for someone and a young girl appeared out of the shadows, her long, dark blonde hair waving back and forth as she made her way closer to Sonic's motionless body.


"His spirit has been moved out by that evil spirit, but I can definetely bring him back." The girl said to Shadow, who was merely nodding, his eyes as wide as they would go.


The girl pulled out some beads and called for Sonic's spirit to appear before her. After a period of silence and a few blue flames, Sonic's spirit could be clearly seen, much to Shadow's amazement.


"Its safe to return to your former dwelling place, Sonic, the evil spirit is gone." the girl motioned for Sonic's spirit to go back into his body.


Suddenly, his spirit shot into Sonic's body, awakening the blue hedgehog once more.


"Whoa...that was...unusual..." Sonic said as he rubbed the back of his head. "Shadow! You're alive!" Sonic said happily, then noticing a boy, a girl and a spirit of a swordsman. "Y-y-yahhhhh!!!" Sonic ran into a wall face-first as Yoh merely shook his head.


"I can tell that there' going to be a good explanation needed here..."
