was so relieved when they finally landed. There was now so much tension between Horo and his sister. He could tell she was also relieved.
Horo uneasily got out of his seat. He was about to start walking down the aisle, but stopped. He looked back at his sister. Pirka wasn’t getting out of her seat.
“What are you doing, Pirka? Come on, let’s go.” He said, trying to act as though everything was normal. But it wasn’t. He was going to see the person he loved, and his sister had just kissed him!
Pirka snapped her head up to look at her brother. His eyes locked hers, and she immediately looked away.
“Oh, right. Sorry, Horo. I’m coming.” She whispered nonchalantly.
Horo sighed, and grabbed her hand, pulling her out of the seat. This surprised Pirka. He tugged at her hand, but did it a bit more roughly than he had meant to. She toppled over, but he, of course, caught her.
“Oh, sorry. Thanks, Horohoro.” Pirka said blushing. She stood up, and brushed by him, blushing, as she walked.
Horo followed after. He felt strange. When he had grabbed Pirka’s hand, he felt…nervous. He should’ve been calm. She was his sister after all. But, he still couldn’t shake the feeling of her lips against his own. Now, it wasn’t just reminding him of Ren. It was making him think of something more…
Horo and Pirka waited patiently outside as their parents made their way out of the plane. Well, they were there. They were in China.
(I have got no idea what China is like, so I’m just going to make things up as far as scenery and stuff goes.)
The family walked out of the airport, and headed to call for a taxi. The Ainu siblings’ parents were busily chatting about their new house, and such. Horo and Pirka walked side by side, an uncomfortable silence between the two. They were both thinking about Ren again. Though they had one other thought on their minds as well…
When their mother looked back at them, she looked at each of them carefully. Not so much that they would know she was staring at them, but enough to know what they had done. She could tell they had kissed. There was evidence. Pirka’s very thin layer of lip-gloss was slightly smudged, and it looked as though some was on Horo’s lips. Of course, she knew this wasn’t any ordinary kiss the two had shared. They were avoiding eye contact, and weren’t talking much. She just had to smile. Even if it meant her two children might be in love. But she only knew half of it.
Their father was too busy to notice this, since he was waiting for a taxi to come by.
After even more awkward silence, a taxi came, and they all hopped in. The siblings’ father sat up front with the driver, and their mother and they sat in back. Pirka was in the middle. She wished she were on one of the sides, though. She was still uncomfortable about what she had done to Horohoro.
Horohoro looked out the window at their surroundings, as did their mom. Pirka chewed her lip, and tried not to think about anything but Ren. Tao Ren…Her thoughts became somewhat mischievous. Horo also was content. He thought about seeing the look on the grand Tao’s face when he saw him. No. When he saw them. He and his sister…
Their thoughts ended as the taxi stopped, and their parents stepped out. The dad had already handed the driver the tip. They were all waiting for the teens to step out.
“Come on, Horo, Pirka. Let’s be going now.” Their mother urged them to get out. Horo and Pirka snapped out of their trance like state, and dragged themselves out of the automobile.
They all found themselves in front of a large manor, a huge mansion. It must’ve been worth millions!
Pirka looked at her father oddly, who was holding the entire luggage. “Um, dad? This isn’t where we’re going to be living, is it?”
Horo was also puzzled, but he kept quiet. He’d let Pirka ask the questions.
Their father smiled down at his daughter. “I know you think this is odd, sweetie. But we are going to be living here.”
Their mother grinned, and said with glee, “Isn’t this wonderful, kids? We’ll have our own mansion!”
Horo and Pirka were unsure about all of this. It would be really weird living in a mansion that large all of a sudden after living in smaller places all their lives. Well, maybe now they’d understand a bit how Ren lives. Wait…how were their parents paying for all this anyways?
Their thoughts evaporated as their parents pushed each of them gently, so they would walk up the steps and onto the property. They did so, and were quite surprised to see that the manor looked extremely old. Yet it was also very elegant. They were anxious to see the inside.
The Ainu ran up the stairs ahead of their parents. The grass they ran past was freshly cut, adorned with blossoming vegetation.
There were many a step, so their parents were taking their time getting up. Considering all the bundles they were carrying up the cement steps.
Horo and Pirka waited for their parents at the doorstep. Pirka was examining the doorknocker. It was fashioned as a spirit ball. Quite interesting, indeed. Perhaps Shaman had lived in this mansion. Or some had helped build it.
“Isn’t this amazing, Pirka?” Horo finally spoke to his sister. Pirka smiled a bit. She was glad he was still happy and was still speaking with her. She had thought he would remain quiet and not talk to her for quite a while before breaking the edgy silence.
“Yeah. Pretty damn amazing…” She whispered chuckling.
Horo grinned. “Imagine the types of parties we could throw here! And the games! WOW!”
Pirka laughed slightly. She loved her brother. …Not THAT kind of love. Just the brotherly/sisterly love. That was all. Wasn’t it…?
In any case, the two laughed with the other, and calmed down by the time their parents had finally gotten up the steps. It seems like they had taken a while, but when you have that much luggage to carry, it would seem like they had set a record time.
Their father fumbled unlocking the large door with a very unusual looking key. It was pure gold, the only one to the house. There was also a spirit ball on the key, just as there had been on the door knocker.
When he heard a small click, he pushed the door, and it creaked open. Pirka gazed in awe, and Horo's eyes widened in wonder. Inside, it was glorious. The frame work on the furniture, and wood was spectacular. Such detailed craftmanship. The curves and bends in the designs were so unique, and different. The furniture was all plush velvet, and everything was sparkling clean. It was as if there had been dozens of maids and servants working about to tidy up the place for their arrival.
Neither of the teen Ainu had ever seen anything so magnificent in all their lives. Aside from Ren, of course. They still couldn't believe their eyes. Their father, who chuckled at his young, said, "Go on. Have a look around. The place is pretty big. Get to know your way around. We couldn't want you getting lost. Though it wouldn't really matter if you did, since this place is an inhabitance for many ghosts who could help you."
Pirka sweat dropped, and Horo drooped. Figures. That was why they were able to afford it. It was haunted. Of course...
Either way, the two Ainu returned to being excited, and both scampered up a large staircase layered in more soft, velvet. Upstairs was a long corridor, a fine carpet covering it. The walls were oak, also very fine. Paitings of all kinds adorning the wall space. The rooms lining the hall were well over fifteen bedrooms, five bathrooms, and many other rooms that Horo and Pirika couldn't figure out what their uses were.
"You can pick your bedrooms now!" Their mother called up. The siblings grinned, and went around looking in each room again. Finally, Horo decided that his room would be at the far end of the hall, near the second staircase leading to the next level up. (Which they hadn't yet explored.) Pirika had chosen the one next to her brother's.
Each room was covered with blue plush carpeting, had a four poster bed in the middle with a large canopy overhead, large TV's, and other electronics, and a grand window with silk drapes. Horo's room was completely adorned with dark blue, cobalt colors. Pirika's was a lighter, sky blue.
They had arrived "home" extremely late, so they all were already tired. Their parents had chosen a bedroom on the first floor, and were already fast asleep. Horo and Pirika were still awake, though very tired. They needed to get some sleep, but they just couldn't. Horo was sitting on his bed, and he had called Pirika in. So, she was also on the cover of the silk lined bed.
Pirika was laying on her side, looking down at the bed, and sometimes glancing up at her older brother. Horo was sitting near her, looking at her solomly. After a few moments of no communication, Pirika gazed up at her brother. "Horo, you said you wanted to talk about something. What is it?" No answer. Pirika sighed. She swung her legs over the edge of the bed, and got up to stand on the carpet. "I'm sorry. But I don't have time for this. I need sleep, Horo." As she started to walk out the door, Horo caught her wrist gently, and pulled her back towards him. He pulled her back so that she fell on her back into his lap.
Pirika gasped slightly, and was about to say something, but her mouth was claimed by her brother's. His mouth on hers gave her an ecstatic feeling. But, what was he doing? No sooner had he planted his mouth there, had he removed it. He looked his little sister in her eyes.
"Just repaying you. Good luck." Pirika was shocked. She hadn't expected her brother to do that. She was so thrown off guard that she didn't even notice Horo walking her to the door, and telling her "good night". She shook her head, and walked to her room next to his.
She slipped under the covers of her bed, and fell asleep, absentmindedly touching her lips.
The next morning, light seeped through the large arched windows of the rooms, stirring Pirika from her slumber. She sat up, rubbing her eyes gently. She yawned, and stretched slightly.
"Wow, morning already?" She said to herself.
Pirika slid out of the bed, and got dressed quickly; did the normal morning routine. When she was done, she walked downstairs to see her parents in the extremely large kicthen eating breakfast together.
Her father saw her walk in. "Hey, Pirika. Why don't you go wake up your brother so you two can have a look around the town?" Pirika grinned broadly. She had almost forgotten. They were in China, Ren lives in China. They can see Ren! (Well, duh!)
"Sure thing, dad!" She called as she jogged back up the stairs.
She knocked lightly on her brother's door. ... No answer. It figures. He's probably asleep. Pirika had almost forgotten how wonderful it was to get to yell at Horo and wake him. When he was in his depression, he always woke up before everyone. Even before Pirika.
She smirked. She would indeed enjoy this. She slowly opened the door, and crept inside.
Laying on the silky sheets, was her brother, Horo, tangeled in a mess of cloth. He was snoring, as usual. His mouth slightly ajar. His blue and black hair a complete mess without his headband on his head.
She silently snuck over to the bed, and jumped onto the covers shouting, "Horo! Quick, get up! Ren's coming and you wet the bed!" That got him up all right.
He sat right up, and panicked. "Oh my god, what!" Pirika burst out laughing.
"Horo! Hahaha! You should've seen your face!" She clutched her stomache in laughter.
Horohoro groaned. "I can't believe I fell for that. Well, I'm up now, Pirika."
Pirika stopped laughing, and walked out of the room so he could get dressed. As she was walking back down the stairs, she heard Horo throwing clothes everywhere trying to find something to where. Finally, he settled on his usual Ainu clothes, and headed downstairs.
Pirika and Horo's parents were already finished with their food, and Pirika was hurrying to finish up her own. Horo quickly grabbed a plate, and scooped some food on. He soon began chowing down like crazy, finishing his food before Pirika. She finished soon after.
"See ya later, mom. We'll be back later." Pirika yelled as she was walking out the door.
"We're going to have a look around, dad." Horo added.
The Ainu siblings smiled with gleeful happiness, and began jogging down the street.
The streets of China were bustling with commotion. Suddenly, Pirika stopped running. Horo also stopped a bit ahead of her.
"Unh.." Horo mumbled.
"Direction problems again. And I don't think Kororo can help us out much this time." Pirka muttered.
Suddenlt, Horo grinned. "Hey, but that doesn't mean we still can't try to find Ren, right?"
Pirika also smiled slowly. "Yeah. Yo're right, Horo! Let's go!"
They started off again, looking down roads, and side streets. They asked people there if they knew where they could look, but no one really answered them. It was mainly, "Don't talk to me unless you're buying something!"
When they were about to almost give up, they saw something. Or, really, a someone. It was a spirit. He was floating aimlessly in an alley.
"Hey, Pirika. Let's ask this dude if he can help us." Horo suggested. Pirika nodded her head, and they walked into the alley.
"Um, excuse me, sir. Could you please help my brother and I?" Pirika asked sweetly. The ghost turned around and looked at the pair. He grinned.
"Why hello there, youngsters. Sure thing. I love helping you kids out who can see us. What can I do for you two?" He looked to be a merchant. Probably died when he was about 33.
"Well," Horohoro began, "We'd like to go see our very, very good friend Ren Tao. Can you tell us where he lives, dude?"
The ghost smiled a toothy smile. "Why of course I can. Follow me, and I'll take you to the Tao Manor." With that, the spirit flew a ways down the alley. Horo and Pirika followed.
He took them down many twists and turns before they were out of the alleyway.
"Well, you just head down that road, and you'll be there." The merchant said, pointing to the road.
Horo and Pirika thanked him, and he flew off again. They began their walk down the road.
Their hearts were pounding again. They were going to see Ren. Very shortly. It would only be a matter of time now. They were a mere few miles apart now.
Horo uneasily got out of his seat. He was about to start walking down the aisle, but stopped. He looked back at his sister. Pirka wasn’t getting out of her seat.
