Acrobatic Escape Act
`Five minutes…five minutes to get out of here.' I looked around the room for an alternate route out. All I could find was a cross shaped window. The window looked a little small for me to get through, but it seemed as if it was going to be my only option. I stuck my head out the window and gauged my chances of getting to the ground from the third floor without getting killed. I was in luck! There was on awning right under the window that I could use to brake my fall. How convenient.

`Now the problem of the window's shape. Think contortionist…' It took me a while to figure out how I was getting myself through the cross shape, but fortunately I made it out the window feet first just as Marco, Jeanne, and Lyserg reentered the room.

“X-LAWS! AFTER HER! SHE'S GETTING AWAY!!” Marco screamed at his underlings.

As I fell I started to contemplate if this jumping out windows hobby of mine was something a sane person would do, but my brief thoughts were cut short as the awning started approaching faster and faster. `Here goes.' I thought as I readied myself for the stunt I was about to pull.

By now the X-LAWS had made their way down to the street and were ready to recapture me when I fell to the ground. Well I had a surprise for them. They weren't getting me today, but what they would get was quite a show.

When my feet touched the awning I used it like a diving board to propel myself through the air as I did a front flip with a 360 twist in mid air. I leaned into a dive so that my hands would contact the ground first. My hands just barely touched the ground enough to push off of it into a back hand spring as to avoid braking both hands like I would have done if I had let all my weight settle on my hands. I landed feet first and just barely gave myself a second to recover before I started sprinting. I silently thanked Kino and Keiko for signing me up for those gymnastics lessons.

The X-LAWS and various by standers stood gawking at my spiffy performance. Three seconds later my pursuers noticed that I was escaping and gave chase. We ran all through town, them chasing me all the way. As I ran I knocked over anything I thought would delay the X-LAWS, and I, myself, jumped, hurtled, vaulted, and flipped over anything and everything in my way.

`Man they're good! Time to lose them for good!' I quickly scanned the area and noticed a huge pile of barrels held together with a rope. I grabbed a knife from a near by knick-knacks booth and cut the rope. The barrels spilled over into the road in front of the on coming X-LAWS threat giving me enough time to duck around a corner. I kept running forward down the alleyway, but I looked back to watch as the X-LAWS continued to race down the main street.

When I looked forward again to see where I was going, a group of boys came to my attention. They were right in my way, and it was too late for me to stop. “Ahhhhh! Watch out! Duck!!” I yelled, and the boy I was about to hit did.

Now some of you may ask `If he ducks you'll still run into and trip over him, so what's the point of him ducking?' Well for one, yeah, I would still run into him, but if he ducked I could easily jump over him. Too bad I don't do things the simple way; I always have to show off.

I put my hands down on his back and used him like a pommel horse to vault over him. I tripped a little when I landed, so instead of falling on my face I went into a cartwheel to a back handspring, and finished off with a summersault ending up on my feet.

I slowly turned around to face the poor people I had almost trampled, and received four blank stares accompanied by four jaws hanging dangerously close to the ground. I ignored their shocked reactions, for I was used to this kind of treatment when I did my acrobatics routine.

I walked over to the boy I had vaulted over. “Are you okay?” We asked each other at the same time.

I looked the boy over and realized I had seen him somewhere before. `He's the boy! The boy from my daydreams! Only he's not as buff in person…but he is cute.' “Yeah, I'm fine, but are you felling alright? I mean…where did you learn all those fancy moves, and what are you wearing?! Did you get a tattoo?!! Look at those boots! You never wear boots! You dyed your hair! Though I do like it that color, it just doesn't fit your personality. Another thing: you asked if I was okay. Normally you would yell at me for being in your way! What's up with you, Anna?”

“Anna…” I whispered. `He thinks I'm my sister. That means he really must be Yoh Asakura.'

A young blue haired boy shaman came right up to me and put his hand on my neck to check my pulse. “Yeah, Anna, wearing revealing clothes isn't like you. You should dress like this more often.”

An African American shaman approached me in a familiar fashion (as if he knew me) and probed his hands all over my face checking for fever. “Well, you don't fell feverish, but you most definitely are HOTT! HAHAHAHAHA!!!! Get it? Like as in `hot' from a fever, and `hott' as in `hott'!!”

Then a shaman I recognized came forward to study me. The other two jokers got out of the way for Ren, my brother to inspect me. “Well you look different `Anna' if that really is your name.”

“It isn't.” Replied a voice from the shadows. Lyserg stepped forward into the light.

`Shoot! He must have used his dowsing skills to track me. I'm in hot water now…The only way out of this is to convince them that I really am Yoh's fiancée, Anna.'

“Huh?!” Jocko and Trey, the `two jokers' from before were baffled.

Trey, the blue-haired one recovered first and was able to ask, “What do you mean Lyserg? Of course it's Anna. Sure she looks a little different, but who else could pass as Anna?” `Her twin maybe.'

Jocko took the moment to burst in, “Trey's right! This has to be Anna, just a kinky version!”

Lyserg shook his head in frustration. “No. This isn't Anna at all! Her name is Ivy, and she's Hao's woman! She's totally obedient to him, and will kill you if you're not careful! Turn her over to the X-LAWS now so she can be judged.”

Yoh looked at me and then back to Lyserg then back at me again. He smiled softly at me before standing up and placing himself between Lyserg and me. “I won't give up my fiancée to be killed just because she looks like someone you people are after.”

“Yoh, please listen to reason; that's not your fiancée. She's Hao's filthy harlot! Don't protect her.” Lyserg begged.

`Time to take things in my own hands.' “Of course I'm Yoh's fiancée, and he of all people could tell you if I was lying! My name is Annabelle Rose Li Kyôyama. My parents abandoned me at the Asakura Temple as a child when they found out I had shamanic powers. I was raised by Kino Asakura and trained to be an Itako. I'm currently getting this slacker ready to be Shaman King, so I can be Shaman Queen and live an easy life. Do you want to know more? I can tell you that I sit around and watch soap operas all day while thinking of the various ways I can torture Yoh, then I have the spirits of the Inn I live in check up on Yoh and keep tabs for me. `More?' you ask? My favorite color is red, and one day I'm going to reopen the En Inn and be an Inn hostess. `Still more?' I don't know what else to tell you other than I am this man's fiancée, and the only reason I act so coldly to him is because I love him!” I finished my rant by sinking into Yoh's arms and sobbing a little before bringing his and my lips together in a soft kiss.

We stayed like that for a moment before I broke away and sobbed a little more into Yoh's shirt. “She's right.” Yoh said after a minute or three of contemplative silence. “I would know my own fiancée. Go away Lyserg, and leave Anna alone.”

Lyserg had a fit. He whipped out his pendulum and it flew straight at Yoh and me. More specifically at my heart, but Yoh drew his sword and deflected it. It missed us, and went flying into and cut one of the ropes holding up a sign for a bar that was randomly placed above us for the author's plot convenience. Now that Lyserg's spirit medium was broken he gave up and just stood there with a glower on his face.

Yoh ignored him as he tilted my face upward slightly to kiss me again. Lyserg stalked off, not willing to fight anymore. As soon as Yoh was positive that Lyserg was way out of viewing range he broke the kiss and we gazed into each other's eyes.

“You owe me an explanation. Who are you, and where's Hao keeping the real Anna?” Yoh asked as he watched my face for a reaction.

“Wh-what?” I whimpered.

“You heard me: Where is your master keeping Anna?” He slowly repeated.

I wanted to cry. He still thought I was with Hao?! “I don't work for Hao; I'm just a normal girl. You're not going to hurt me are you?”

Yoh blinked in confusion. `How do I know if she's telling the truth…though she doesn't seem evil…and she is a really good kisser…I'll bring her with us, then once she trusts us more, maybe I'll be able to trust her too. She can see spirits after all, and people who see spirits aren't evil.'

*SNAP!* the previously mentioned sign's one remaining rope snapped and the heavy sign came crashing down. It would have crushed me too if Yoh hadn't pushed me out of the way. We didn't escape completely unscathed, however, for I received a nasty bump on the head. I can't remember anything after that, for that is when a curtain of darkness closed around my world.
