Follow The Leader
Soft wispy voices could be heard off in the distance, but the world was still dark. “Wow.” Trey's voice was getting too close to my comatose form for my liking.

“`Wow' what?” Yoh's voice asked innocently curious.

“What do you mean `wow what?' she's what! Just look at her body! She's filled out in all the right places with all the right curves and angles! Anna doesn't let you look at other girls does she?” Trey sighed.

“Yep. She'd kill me if she knew there was a girl in my bed.” Yoh sound extremely happy when he commented upon me being in his bed, but it was a guilty pleasure, for he also knew what Anna would think.

“Awe, come on man have some fun once in awhile! She's just sleeping it's not like we're doing anything.” Jocko suggested.

“I don't see what's so great about her.” Ren's condescending tone joined in the conversation.

“God, Ren! You're not…are you…ummm never mind I don't want to know.” Trey started but (thankfully for all those Ren fans out there) stopped himself. “Well, for starters Ren, look at those hips and thighs!”

“And flat, washboard stomach…” Jocko added.

Ren was somewhat encouraged by the others and decided to give it a shot. “Well…she does have nice legs, I'll give her that.”

“And just LOOK at the size of her—“ Trey was about to make a very inappropriate statement before Yoh cut him off saying:

“You guys are treating her like a piece of meat! Can't she be attractive just because she has a great personality or heart? Though she is drop dead gorgeous.”

`Yoh…how sweet! He was so much better than his brother. That monster…I wonder if he knows where I am?' I pondered “Hao.” I mumbled out loud.

“What did she say?” Trey hovered right over my mouth.

Ren pulled out his Kwan Dao and brandished it awfully close to Trey's head. “Idiots! She's talking to Hao! I knew she couldn't be trusted. Yoh, we're fraternizing with the enemy!”

“I don't think so. She doesn't seem evil.” Yoh said thoughtfully.

As if responding to my previous thoughts about him knowing my whereabouts, a voice in my head that sounded disturbingly like my afore mentioned betrothed said, `No, Ivy darling, I don't know yet, but I will find you. We had an agreement, and intend to hold you to it. No matter if I must drag you back to me.'

“HAO!!” I let out a screech of anguish. He would never leave me be as long as I lived and even after I was dead! He would hunt me down like a dog hunting a fox.

I sat bolt upright in the bed and starred, my eyes void of emotion, past the shaman boys gaping at me. “I have to get out of here.” I muttered.

“What did you say?” Jocko moved closer to hear my whispering voice.

I blinked once and suddenly my senses came back to me as my eyes refilled with life and fire. “I said `I have to get out of here!'” I yelled urgently. “He'll be coming after me just as soon as he gets Opacho to spill about my hiding location!” I sobbed in a hysteric fit.

I launched myself out of bed and fell flat on my face when my legs gave out on me. *Sigh* “How long have I been out for?” I asked knowing perfectly well the answer. The same answer as always:

“Three days.” Yoh informed me. “Why are you in such a hurry to leave? Who's after you?” I picked myself off of the floor, walked towards the door, and put my hand on the handle.

As I saw it, there was no use getting these nice people involved in my personal life, so I just made a simple statement and left. “I'm not worth your time Yoh. You can't save me. I've already been damned to the deepest circle of hell since the day I was born.” I slowly turned the door handle, and to my utter annoyment it wouldn't open. “The hell?!” I asked no one in particular. The door was locked…“Oh well. Who needs a door? Most certainly not I! I've always wanted to try this anyway.” I focused a good deal of my furyoku and concentrated on becoming like fire. I unleashed all my stored up furyoku and disappeared in a column of fire imitating that pyromaniac Hao.

A split second later I found myself on the other side of the door. I had used up a lot of furyoku, and had traveled roughly three feet. Great. What was worse, I had fallen over and landed on my bottom in the dirt. The dirt rose up to my nose and infiltrated my throat, making me cough like mad.

The door opened and out came Yoh. Trey and Jocko stuck their heads out the door as well, but Ren didn't even bother to check and see if I had gotten myself killed yet.

“Are you alright?” Yoh asked as he reached out his hand to help me up.

I wouldn't accept his help. My pride wouldn't let me. I had always been a pretty independent person, and now when I needed a helping hand and a couple of good friends, I couldn't—didn't—know how to accept them. I didn't know how to ask for help.

So I slapped his hand away and got up by myself. I knew I was being harsh—he only wanted to help, and he seemed genuine, too, but that little voice in the back of my head was telling me: `Hao, his brother, remember him? He seemed like he genuinely wanted to help you too, but did he?! No!! He used you, lied to you, tricked you! What makes you think Yoh will be any different? Look back on your experiences with Hao. See where that got you?! Yoh will only be a repeat of your previous pain!' I dusted myself off and started to walk away.

“I'll be fine on my own, thank you. Do not follow me any farther.” I walked on for a while and didn't look back. I knew I was being followed. I increased my pace slowly, so as not to seem frightened. Whatever was following me was practically on my heels! I broke into a flat out run for my life, but my follower still pursued me until we came to a cliff. I was running fast and was lucky to stop in time before being thrown over the edge. I turned step by step, taking my time, to look at my follower.

“Oh, God!” `Why me?' “You again!” I growled, my voice only shaking slightly.
