Dangerous Demoness
I couldn't wait!! My sister and I were going to spend some quality time together!!! I was so excited…too bad the evening that started off so well ended so badly…
“So, Anna, where are we going to eat?” I tried to start a conversation with my older twin.
“It's a surprise. You'll see when we get there.” She responded, and said not a word after that.
We walked for at least thirty minutes in what I thought was awkward silence, but we finally made it to the quant little restaurant on the outskirts of town. It was really quite cute. It was a little Japanese place, and we got an outside table out back.
The waiter came and gave us menus. A few minutes later he came back with his little order pad and asked, “What can I get for you ladies tonight?”
“I'll have a green tea and a bowl of natto.” Anna and I coursed. We then looked at each other like `What did you just say?'
“Excuse me for asking, but are you two twins? You look an awful lot alike, and you even ordered the same thing at the same time…” The waiter stared at us and tentatively asked.
“No.” Anna answered for us both with a death glare to the poor man.
`I guess she's not ready to accept me as a sister yet…” I thought to myself as I directed my gaze at the ground. `Oh, well. I'll tell her tomorrow. Hopefully she'll be ready then.'
The man soon came back with our food, but quickly scurried back to the kitchen in fear of Anna.
When he was out of earshot I let out a soft giggle.
“What's so funny?” Anna asked inquisitively.
“Oh, nothing. It's just everyone is so scared of you!” I smiled as I laughed.
“Aren't you?” She asked.
“No. Should I be?” I tilted my head to the side.
“Everyone else is...” Anna mused. “Speaking of everyone else, what do you think of all of them?” She asked how I felt about Yoh in a very roundabout way.
“Well…” I thought for a moment. “For girls, Jun: motherly and kind, Pilika: excitable and friendly, Tamao: shy but caring, You: I thought you were really mean and nasty before, but I really like you, you're nice and friendly too. As for the boys, Ren: too overprotective, but he's a really great brother. Horo Horo: he hits on me a lot, but he's funny, Jocko: his jokes are lame, but he's a nice guy, Faust: he's a little creepy, but nice when you get to know him, Morty: he's such a sweet boy and really kind of shy, Rio: he's really creepy, but I suppose he's nice…maybe.” I finished.
I had left out a name on purpose, hoping she didn't notice. No such luck, “You forgot about Yoh. What do you think of him?” She urged.
“Uhhh…well Yoh's…ummm…nice.” I stumbled over myself trying not to let on that I was in love with my twin's fiancée.
Anna rolled her eyes at me, “Don't be like that. Tell me what you really think; I don't care.”
I squinted at her, trying to see why she was acting so nice. `Nonsense. She just wants to know…why would you think your own sister is plotting against you?! You're getting paranoid!'
I set my suspicions aside, and answered my sister's question. “I guess it can't hurt if you don't care; I really like him.”
“Ohhhh. Like him do you? How cute.” She smiled. “Are you sure that's not all?” She practically drug the answer out of me.
“Okay, fine. You win! I love him! Are you happy? I love Yoh Asakura!” I exclaimed happily.
Anna smiled on the outside, but on the inside thought, `So she does love him back…she's a threat, and she has to be gotten rid of.' “Well, I'm happy for you. He loves you too, you know.”
“What? How did you find out?” I puzzled.
“He told me earlier. We broke the engagement.” She looked down at her natto as she re-laid the info to me.
“What?! You broke the engagement?! Why?! Don't you love him?! What happened?!” I spilled a thousand questions inquiring as to the circumstances of the broken engagement.
Anna sighed and shook her head at me, “Yes, the engagement is broken, and Yoh is now unattached. He doesn't love me, and he never will, so it's useless to keep him away from the one he truly loves. I do love him though…that's why I'm letting him go. No use in him dying of a broken heart when it can be easily resolved with a simple broken engagement. I'll get over it, don't worry about me.”
“Anna…” I mumbled in an inaudible whisper. “Did he tell you who?—I mean, who he's leaving you for?” I inquired gently.
A quick nod, “Yes. Yes he did. Take him, Ivy. I want him to be happy.”
“Thank you…you must really love him if you're willing to give him up so he can be happy. Thank you so much, but I don't think I can do this to you. I couldn't just steal your fiancée from you. It wouldn't be right. I couldn't break your heart like that, Anna…” I couldn't just take my own sister's fiancée, even if we were in love.
“Ivy, shut the hell up and just take him. I already promised him that when you and I get home tonight, he's free and if you'll let him, he can have you. He told me that he was determined to marry you, and I believe that he will stop at nothing. There's nothing I can do about the matter, so I'd rather have him happy than not. Since you're the only thing that can satisfy him, I say go for it. Don't hold out on him on my account. Just make him happy.” Anna finished off her meal, and I soon did too.
We left the restaurant and went shopping. I won't bore you with the girly details, but I will tell you that it was so much fun!! We got new outfits, discovered we both share a love of key-chains, like some of the same soap operas, and hate the color pink. We laughed, smiled, and just had fun till we dropped from exhaustion.
“That *pant* was *gasp* great!” I breathed heavily, a huge smile illuminating my rosy face.
“Yeah, *gasp* we have *pant* to do *wheeze* that again!” My sister's face mirrored my own: giant grin brightening her own reddening face.
We rested a moment, back to back, supporting each other, trying to catch our breath. When we were no longer panting, Anna broke the ringing silence. “Ivy, I have one last thing for us to do.” She informed me.
“What would that be? It's getting late.” I wanted to go with my sister, but something inside of me was screaming `NOOOOOO!!! For the love of jello!!! Don't go!!'. I had no idea why I shouldn't go, though.
“It's only 11:37. Don't you usually come home at all hours of the night?” Anna teased.
I wrinkled my nose at her, feigning annoyance, “Yes, but that's beside the point…” I rolled my eyes, and gave in to my sister. “Fine. Have it your way. Where are we off to?”
“It's a—“ Anna started.
“—surprise. Never mind. Just lead the way.” I cut her off, already knowing the answer.
Anna nodded and gave a kind smile to my face, but when she turned her back to guide me, her `kind smile' was twisted and distorted into an evil smirk.
We came to a small bar on the very outskirts of town and Anna stopped. I walked in front of her to inspect the place. It was the same bar I had found Hao at the previous night. I didn't turn around to look at Anna, but kept staring at the little building as I asked, “Anna, what are we doing here? This is a bar…”
“I'm well aware of that fact, but speaking of facts, the facts stand as: I have a meeting here tonight with an old adversary, and you won't be coming home with me tonight…” Anna's voice changed from friendly and benign to deadly and threatening in a matter of seconds.
“Wha-?” I didn't quite turn around fast enough to see the rope coming towards my neck. “Uh!!” The rope in my sister's hands started to squeeze the life out of me. “Ann-a? W-why?” I managed to gasp out as I brought my hands to my throat, trying to detach it, or at least get some space between the deadly weapon and my source of life.
“`Why?'” She laughed as she mocked me. “`Why?' she asks!! Hahahaha!! I'll tell you why! You're ruining my life!! Before Ivy came along, Anna was the center of everything. Anna told everyone when to get up, sit down, and every other aspect of their lives. Everyone had a healthy fear of Anna because Anna would legendary left you if you didn't bend to her every whim, or bow to her every order. Yoh has never loved me, but at least before you came, he noticed me, and did whatever would make me happy!! Now that you're here, he won't jump as high at my glares or run as hard because he's too busy thinking of Ivy!! Let me fill you in; I was never okay with you, and I never will be!! I also will never give up Yoh without an all out brawl! I know I can't beat you in looks or any other aspect like that, but I have tricked you, and I have set you up, so it's time to go back to your own fiancée, you whore, and leave mine alone!!”
It was no use, I couldn't hold off the rope anymore, I let go and let my sister strangle me nearly to death. If that's what would really make her happy, who was I to say no? I was a fool to think I would ever have a blood family again. I would have told her that I was her twin then, but it was no use, the rope was too tight, and I was fading in and out of consciousness.
Anna let go of the rope too early, and I was still semi conscious. I fell to the hard cobblestone, and started to stir a little, glad to have air back in my lungs.
“Still not out cold?” Came a taunting female voice as my golden-haired counter part hit me over the head with something definitely solid. My vision faded, and soon I was lost to the world.
I couldn't believe it…I had actually pulled it off. I had really knocked Ivy unconscious!! A dark figure leaped down from a tall building close by just as a clock off in the distance bellowed 12 o' clock.
“Wow, Anna. I didn't think you could be so vicious.” Hao mused in awe of what I had done.
“Take that harlot of yours and leave. I never want to see her or you ever again.” I snapped at my reluctant partner in crime.
“Hey!! Don't you dare call my sweet Ivy a harlot!! She's never done anything like that before! I should know, I'm saving her for myself.” Hao took offense to my words as he gently scooped up his currently comatose fiancée and held her close. He stroked her cheek and brushed some stray hairs from her face as he gazed down at her longingly. “I was so afraid I'd lost you.” He whispered to Ivy, even if she couldn't hear him.
“Well, have fun. I'm off to my own fiancée to tell him that Ivy's run off and flat out refuses to marry him. It'll break his heart, but women have ways of making men happy again.” I smirked as I started to walk back home.
“Thank you, Anna.” Hao smiled at my retreating back. “Tell Yoh what you want, just make sure to keep that bumbling idiot away from Ivy. I won't let him steal my innocent little vine's flower from me…” The lovesick pyromaniac softly nuzzled the `innocent vine'.
“Goodbye, Hao. Nice doing business with you, and thanks for taking her off of my hands.” I waved back at Hao as I left him and Ivy there out in front of the little tavern, and retreated home to break the bad news to my unfortunate fiancée.
I didn't hesitate in walking straight up to Yoh's room and gently waking him. “Yoh, honey? Wake up. This is very important.” I shook him one last time and he rose, rubbing the sleep from his eyes and staring sleepily at me.
“Ivy?” He asked not recognizing me this late at night.
“No, baby.” I softy corrected. “It's me, your fiancée, Anna.” I sat down on the bed beside him.
“Fiancée?” Yoh woke up a bit more. “But I thought that we agreed it was over…” He yawned.
I decided to come right out and say it, “Yoh, when I was out with Ivy, she told me that she couldn't marry you. Then she ran off saying she wasn't coming back for her stuff, and that she was `unsure' of what she really wanted.”
