Chapter 8: lost

After that bastard Chaos ate me, I was running out of air fast. I suddenly had an overload of energy. There was no pain as the power washed over me, and it was so fast. Now my power was the same as Chaos. Something was happening to me, something that would change me forever.

I fired a blast at the liquid skin, and I broke free into the open air. I used a small amount of my new power to do that, and that was when it happened. I had a flashback of my life before Grey had changed me and tore my family apart. It was back when life was happy and joyful.

A small brown hedgehog about the age of four was running around with his older brother.

"Come on, KEN!" the brown hedgehog called to the house. The young brown hedgehog saw the front door open.

He shouted, "June, Ken, come on!" the young hedgehog ran into the front room to see to his horror that a group of humans had killed his father.

His mother grabbed him and ran out of the house. The young hedgehog turned to see his father lying in his own blood.

"DADDY!" the young hedgehog cried, tears running down his face.

The flashback moved forward in time, to the time when the humans changed the four-year-old young hedgehog. The young brown hedgehog was in a large glass tube with this greenish yellow, foul smelling, water-like liquid. Then one of the humans started to connect clear wires to his arms, legs, and chest. The young hedgehog hit his hands on the glass as the liquid reached in his mouth. Then the pain and fear took hold. It was too much for the kid, and he passed out.

After I remembered who I was, I landed on the ground next to the others.

"You'll pay like all the humans who did this TO me!" I shouted, fully raged by the painful memories.

I turned, on my feet and ran at Perfect Chaos with my sword facing him. Perfect Chaos looked down at me.

>Kill me. < Chaos roared. >You know the power of the sword. <

I just stood with the sword in my hands. "Yes, I do. If I kill you, Chaos, something else will only take your place," I said, looking at the others, and then at Grey.

"Grey, I remember what you did to me forty-eight years ago!" I shouted in rage at the human. "I remember how you killed my father when I was only four years old, I also remember how you changed me in that lab!" Then Grey's face turned pale.

"You put me in that tube of liquid and changed who I was forever! You turned me into a fighter and for that, you will pay!" I hit Grey with my hand, and he just lay in mud.

"You're not a true Mobian!" Grey shouted at me. "I created you!"

"I was once…" I looked down at the ground, and I said under my breath, "Now you'll see your creation at work!" I kicked Grey hard, not at all thinking.

I saw the faces on the others, which were shocked, and confused. I then used my full power on the human. I would end his life NOW. As the beam left my hands, all the revenge did too. I felt all that revenge for a long time. I had found my lost memories, but as I saw the look in Grey's eyes, he told me something. I read his mind.

[Max Raven, you are not the only one I created. I created others. And you have a brother and a sister.]

That was all I could get from him before the blast hit and killed him.

{A brother and a sister,} I thought to myself.

I turned to face the others. I turned away from them in fear of being turned away, forgot again. I started to walk away, but her voice stopped me.

"Please, Max, don't leave me," her voice echoed in my ears.

I turned only my head to face her. She was on her knee, looking at me.

"Please, Max, don't leave me," she said again, this time tears ran down her face.

And for the first time in my new life, I had a place in the world.

"I'm not going anywhere, Rei." I said to her as and I walked back up to her. "You see, kid, heroes never die."
