Chapter 13: Forgotten

Days turned into weeks, weeks turned into months and all this time, Matrix had been running, not stopping for a moment, until he found a clearing in the forest that he had been in. He stopped to rest, and then after about twenty minutes, he started running again. The reason why he was running was unknown. Through the trees, he could see the lights of a city called Mobotropolis

{That's where Princess Sally told me to meet her.} Matrix thought to himself, and he ran on. It was night and it was raining, so running was hard.

Matrix put his foot down on a rock that was wet and slippery, he lost his balance and he fell and hit his head hard on another rock and blacked out

He opened his eyes, only to feel pure digging pain in his head. He tried to sit up, but someone stopped him.

"Hey, kid, stay there. You injured yourself," said a calm female voice. "You've been here for two weeks now. It's good to see you awake," said the voice.

"What happened to me?" He asked. "I don't remember who I am."

"Oh, you don't remember, I see." The owner of the calm voice stood up and walked out of the room and then a few minutes later, walked back in with a light brown female squirrel. She had red hair and a blue jacket and blue boots on.

"You're in a place called Knothole Village, and my name is Nurse Elva Keeper, and this is Princess Sally Acorn. When you arrived here at our hospital, you had no ID on you, so, I don't know who you are."

"I'm sorry about your loss of memory." Sally said, and looked at him.

"Will I ever get my memory back?" He asked.

Elva replied, "In time. I'll ask the ones who brought you here if they could take you in." Then she walked out again.

"Who am I?" The hedgehog asked.

Sally stayed in the room. {I wonder when this Matrix guy is going to show up…} The hedgehog lying in the bed looked at her, and she smiled back at him.

Outside, in the hall…

"He doesn't remember anything and I was hoping, Bunny, that you could look after him." Elva said to the Rabbit.

"Elva, I'll look after him." Bunny said to her.

"Okay." She nodded.

After about two weeks from leaving the hospital and not a sign of his memory returning to the white hedgehog who had been given a new name by Bunny Rabbit. She named him `Dave.' He sat on a chair in the café.

"Dave!" Bunny called over to him.

"Yeah, Bunny?" Dave called back, looking up at her.

"We're going on a mission, and Sally would like to know if you'll like to come." Bunny looked at him.

"You bet, I've been in this place for a long time!" Dave said, jumping up and running over to her. So, Bunny, Sally, and Dave ran into Mobotropolis.

The three mobians ran through the dark streets of the city.

"We're here, Dave. Can you keep a look out?" Sally asked him, as she and Bunny ran into the building.

"I don't get it, Robotnik's out of the picture, but then someone else takes over." Sally whispered to her friend.

"Yeah, I know, Sally-gal," Bunny said. "I wonder how sugah-hog's doing, Sal."

"Getting on Buttink's nerves." Sally whispered back.

"Sal, watch out!!" Bunny screamed when a new type of Swatbot walked around the corner of the corridor and saw them.

"Bunny, come on, run!" Sally shouted, and Bunny followed her. The two ran out of the building.

Dave saw them running at him. "What is it, girls?" He asked.

He saw the Swatbot behind them, and one of the robots stared at him as it was about to shoot him, and then he felt a weird power inside him. When he held his hands up, a blot of white light left his hands and hit the robot. Sally and Bunny watched as Dave used this.

"Do it again!" Sally called.

He did more than once and then he felt an even more powerful power raising inside him.

"Sally, Bunny, hide!" He shouted, and the two ducked behind an old car and watched Dave as he floated a foot off the ground.

Dave fired a series of fireballs at the Swatbots, but this was only the beginning of the fight. Then out of nowhere, a sword appeared in his hands. He landed on the ground and threw it at five Swatbots. The whole time, Sally and Bunny watched, and the two didn't see the one coming up behind them. Dave turned and threw the Sword at it. Sally and Bunny turned and looked at the robot, then turned back to Dave.

"Wow, Dave, that was…" Bunny was about to say something, but she was stopped by two hedgehogs, one black and red and the other was a dark blue. The two had seen Dave and started to run up to him.

"MATRIX, YOU'RE OKAY!" The two shouted in union.

"Uh, you know me?" Dave asked, and the two looked and sounded familiar.

"Of course we DO, stop being stupid!" replied the dark blue hedgehog.

"Come on, Matrix!" said the black hedgehog.

"Hey, Dave, who are these two?" shouted Sally.

"I don't know, Sal." Dave walked up to her.

"Do you remember us?" asked the dark blue hedgehog.

"No, sorry." Dave replied.

"I don't believe it, Max doesn't remember us!" said the black hedgehog, looking at dark blue hedgehog.

Bunny looked at the new comers. "Who are you two?" she asked them.

"I'm Dash, and this is Ultrix. We're friends of Max here." Dash said, pointing at Dave.

"You must be mistaken. My name is Dave," he said.

"That's the name I gave to you, dear." Bunny said.

"So, you're telling me that my real name in Max?" Dave said to Dash and Ultrix.

"Guys, guys, let's get back to Knothole Village!" Sally shouted to them.

Later that night, after returning to Knothole Village…

The two new hedgehogs were sitting in chairs in the café when suddenly; a black and white cat, about seven feet high walked up to them.

"Oh, your Dave's friends? Then come with me," the cat said.

Shortly after the three arrived at Sally's hut, Dave, who was there too, walked up to Dash and Ultrix and sat on another chair in the hut.

"So, tell me," Dave asked, "who was I?"

The two looked at him then at each other. "Your name is Max Raven."

Sally looked at Dave and gasped. "The Ravens?"

Ultrix continued to tell, "But you like to be called Matrix."

"Matrix, you're the--" Sally said, but she was suddenly stopped in mid-sentence.

"Son," a voice said.

Dave, Dash, Ultrix, and Sally turned to see a brown female hedgehog in her late fifties, and next to her was Bunny.

"Sal, Antoine found her walking around in the woods." Bunny said, and the female hedgehog ran up to Dave.

"It has really been a long time, son!" she said.

"No…" Dave said. He slumped to the floor on his knees, putting his hands on his head, because his memories were starting to return. To any normal person, they would have past out, but his psychic abilities stopped that. He could not hold the emotion or memories back any longer. He slowly and painfully looked up at the female hedgehog and finally said, "Mom."

"Yes, son, it's me." said Matrix's mother.

"Who's this?" Dash asked.

"My mother."

"Son, I'm here to tell you that Duel's still alive," she said, looking at the others.

"Who's he?" asked Sally.

"A bad guy which I have to stop, Sally." Matrix said, standing up, and he looked down at himself in the clothes he had been wearing. "Do I look like this?"

Ultrix smirks at him

"You can stop laughing!" Matrix said, angry.

"Oh, and Sal, ring this number." Matrix said, giving her a piece of paper and then walked out of the hut, followed by the others.

"Dave…Max, come back!" Sally called to him.

Matrix stopped and turned to her. "Listen, kid, you have no idea who I am, but ring the number and say, `Siseneg.'" Then Matrix walked out.

"Siseneg…that's Genesis backwards," said Matrix's mother, looking at her son.

"I know, Mom, but Sally doesn't." Matrix whispered her.

"So, Max, what's your mother's name?" Ultrix asked.

"My name's Violet Raven."
