This story takes place after the events of SA2, just so you know! If you never played the game, you might be a little confused on the setting! Just to let ya know!
Tails! How's everything?"
I'm bored!" Tails had been on the ARK for what seemed like an eternity like everyone else. Eggman was in the stall, and everyone else was busy steering the ARK back to Earth.
worry, we're almost there!" Sonic had been talking with Tails for quite some time, and had noticed a change in the young boy fox's atitude. The usual hyperactive and energetic Tails had changed into a depressed, lonely boy. "Don't worry, Tails. I know everythings going to be alright, it always turns out in the end. Who knows, you might even meet someone that you like!"
Highly doubt it!"
noticed the sarcasm in Tails' voice and decided to ask what was troubling him. "Tails, is there something wrong?"
I'm...fine."
knew he was lying, so he decided to ask him a more direct question, hoping it would reveal what was wrong with him. "Tails, you are my best friend, right?"
course! You know I am!"
then, why don't you tell me what's wrong? You can trust me! Thats what friends are for! Trust!"
knew that Sonic was going to win this argument, so he decided to go ahead with his question and admit what was wrong. "Who do you like, Sonic?"
was quite bewildered at Tails' response. "Sally, but-"
does Knuckles like?" Interrupted the young fox.

who does Tails like?"
Thats whats troubling me! I'm lonely!!!"
saw the look in Tails' bright blue eyes; he was truly lonely. He was getting to the age where he needed to find the one who would love him and do whaterver it took to please him. He needed a girlfriend.
know how it feels, Tails." Tails looked up at Sonic, quite shocked he would say that. Tails always knew Sonic as someone who could get a girl just by showing off his speed.
rejected you?" Tails said this with some curiosity, despite being 13, he was still Sonic's companion and learned a lot from Sonic. He'd taught Tails how to run faster and fly higher and farther with his tails without tiring out. He was still learning a lot from Sonic.
Sonic said this with a deep hatred in his voice.

what did she do to you?"
was eight years ago in Robotnicks labratory, and I was there along with her attempting to stop Robotnick from creating the Mecha Sonic project. I finally got to Eggman, but thats when Frieta turned her back on me and hit me in the head."
on..." Tails was really shocked at Sonic's tone of voice when he said her name. "He must have really hated her" Tails said to himself.
took Bunnie and severely crippled her lower body. She would have died, but we got her to a hospital where all they could do was install robot parts in her. It was an ugly sight, but she pulled through and is what she is today..."
why you hate her, huh?"
Sonic looked at Tails with a tear forming in his eye.
Whats wrong?"
did what I consider to be the most vile thing ever...She took you and used you as her experiment! She was trying out a new potion on you that was supposed to cause unique mutations...But your genetic system refused the potion, and it nearly killed you!"
used me as her lab pet?"
got you to a local hospital, and tryed to remove the potion from your body, but it was too embedded. They got it all out, but the mutations that occured had already done the damage"
what happened to me?"
at your tails"
saw his two tails and yelled in shock and disbelief. "Thats why I have two tails?!"
exactly. You made it through, but if I had just gotten you there sooner, you wouldn't have been mutated into this!" Sonic started to cry at this and pounded his fist on the ground.
Tails ran over to Sonic and started to shake him to try to bring him back to reality. "You saved my life! Thats what counts! I don't care that I have two tails! I'm just glad you saved me!"
No one else I know would have done that for me! Thats what makes you so special! You're a friend from the start to the end!"
thank you!" Sonic and Tails embraced in a tight bear hug and crying all the while. Soon, they were interrupted by a very familiar face.
heard you guys talking back here."
Tails and Sonic both said simultaneously.

me, Sonic, it was your best." Tails looked at Sonic and then at Knuckles. "I'm not upset anymore, thanks to Sonic. He's always there no matter what! And I told him that thats what makes him special to me!"

you, for being such a good friend to me" Tails looked at Sonic with sparkly eyes, showing that he cared. Sonics' eyes were the same way.
over intercom: We are approaching the Earth! Fasten your seat belts! We are going home!!!"
Yeah! We're almost home!!!"
