Sonic Series Fan Fiction ❯ Adventures of the Future 3 ❯ She's alive! ( Chapter 8 )
[ P - Pre-Teen ]
Burlow had a very hard time dealing with Maria's death but not as hard as Kurama or Shadow. It
was late at night, Kurama and Cristie had just gone to sleep when Burlow felt a quick but
powerful earthquake, like something had fallen from space. He ran outside, there was a huge
crater in the front yard.
"Sweet Jesus! What the hell happened here?!"Burlow yelled.
Burlow looked in the crater and couldn't believe what he saw.
"Maria?"Burlow asked.
"Help... me..."Maria begged.
"Maria, how...? Wha...? But... I... I saw you burn down to your bones in the atmosphere. How are
you still alive?"
"Help..."Maria blanked out.
Burlow picked Maria up and ran her to Station Square, the nearest city with a hospital.
"Hey, I need help now!"Burlow said.
"Hang on a minute."the lady at the desk said.
"I don't have a minute, put down the damned phone!"
"What's wrong?"
"My wife is badly hurt, she needs help."
Two doctors came down the hall and took Maria away.
"How long until I can see her?"Burlow asked.
"No more than an hour."the lady said.
"Is there a phone around here that I could use?"
"Over there."she pointed to a phone in the waiting room.
Burlow grabbed the phone and called his home.
Kurama woke up sleepily and answered the phone.
"Hello?"Kurama said.
"Kurama, it's dad."Burlow replied.
"Dad? Where are you?"
"I'm at the Station Square hospital. While you and Cristie were asleep... uh, just look outside for
yourself."
Kurama looked outside and saw the crater.
"Damn, what in the world made that?!"
"Well... I found your mom there."
"Oh my God, is she alive?"
"Yes but barely, she's got cuts, bruises, broken bones, the whole nine yards. Tell your sister and
both of you come here."
"Okay."
Burlow hung up and called Shadow.
Shadow was still crying even though it had been a week since Maria had 'died'.
"What do you want?!"Shadow yelled sadly.
"Shadow? It's Burlow, you're ganna be so happy. Maria's alive!"
"She's alive? Woo hoo! Yeah!"Shadow started break dancing.
"Stop break dancing and get over here now, I'm at the Station Square hospital."
Burlow waited for his family to come.
"How long do we have to wait?"Shadow asked.
"No more than forty- five minutes."Burlow replied.
Cristie snuck away and heard her mother's voice calling out Kurama's name over and over
again, sounding very scared and frantic. She found the room where the doctors were working on
Maria. Cristie peaked in and watched what they did.
"KURAMA!"Maria shouted painfully.
A doctor pulled off Maria's bloody sweatshirt to fix the injuries on her front.
"KURAMA! WHERE'S MY SON?! I WANT MY LITTLE BOY!"Maria screamed.
Maria's heartbeat started racing, she would die if it wasn't slowed. The doctors gave her a shot
in the arm and her heartbeat went back to normal, they finished bandaging her up and then put
her in a hospital gown. They took her clothes to wash them and mend some of the rips in them.
Cristie ran back to the waiting room.
"Where were you?"Burlow asked.
"Um... bathroom."Cristie replied.
A nurse came.
"Are you friends of Maria the Hedgehog?"the nurse asked.
"Yes."Burlow replied.
"Well, she's been calling out the name, Kurama. Is there a Kurama here?"
"That would be me. Maria is my mother."
"Well, Maria is going to be just fine but I'm afraid she doesn't remember anything except for
her son, Kurama."
"She's got amnesia?"
"Yes. Kurama, you can go in and see her if you'd like."
Kurama got up and went to the room where his mother was. Maria was peacefully sleeping on
the bed.
"Mother?"Kurama said. "Mother, wake up. It's Kurama."
"Kurama?"Maria slowly opened her eyes to see her son.
"Mother, the doctors think you're ganna be okay."
Maria sat up and hugged Kurama tightly.
"Oh Kurama. I thought I'd never see you again."Maria said.
"Ditto. I've missed you so much. All of us have."Kurama replied.
"Who's 'us'?"
"Dad, Cristie, Shadow... Oh yeah, that's right. You can't remember any of them can you?"
"No."
"Well, Shadow is your dad. Burlow is my dad and your husband, and Cristie is my sister, your
daughter. Can you remember that?"
"Yeah, I think so."
"Mother, I think you should get some rest."
"Yeah, I think so too."Maria laid back down and went to sleep.
Kurama firmly gripped Maria's hand.
"I'll kill you, Thunder. I swear I'll kill you... Even if it's the last thing I do."Kurama whispered.
