Chapter 5
Shadow was being dragged along the ground by an ecstatic Sonic the Hedgehog, thrilled by the fact that his son had told him that he was very close to a city.
Suddenly, Sonic stopped running completely, letting Shadow go as he was flung about 200 yards from where Sonic was standing.
"Care to explain why the hell you did that?!" Shadow was pissed at Sonic, but saw the look on Sonic's face and freaked when he saw what made Sonic look so shocked.
"It...its......a city!!!!" Sonic shouted as he ran full speed towards the city, Shadow had to play catch-up as he was lagging behind the more energetic Sonic.
"Slow...down...you are too......fast!" Shadow uttered through breaths as he and Sonic were getting very close to their destination.
Finally, they reached the entrence to the city, exhausted and hungery, Sonic went off to find the nearest chili-dog stand and Shadow went to find a hotel.
"Why is a chili-dog stand so hard to find here?!" Sonic mentally screamed to himself as he had already covered three blocks of the city with no chili-dog stands in sight.
Suddenly, Sonic heard four words that made his heart jump for joy.
"Chili-dogs on sale!! Chili-dogs on sale!!"
Sonic was drooling when he found the source of the voice, a stand of chili-dogs that, to Sonic, were taunting him.
Sonic lost control of his instincts and dashed full throttle towards the chili-dogs, scarfing down every last one of them in less then a minute.
As Sonic patted his now full belly, dozens upon dozens of curious onlookers gazed at the sight infront of them.
"What is it?!"
"I think its a gigantic hedgehog!"
"A blue one, thats impossible!"
"Maybe its an alien...?"
"Maybe its a mutated human...!"
"Maybe its just a hedgeho-"
"Hey, make room!!!"
Sonic paid close attention to the last person who spoke because the voice sounded very familiar.
"Out of my way!!"
Sonic knew that the high-pitch sound of this voice could only belong to one person that Sonic knew so well.
"!!"
Sonic looked at the voices source with tears in his eyes as the source also had tears in her eyes.
"SONIC!"
"AMY!!!"
Sonic dashed at Amy faster then he had everu ran in his life, extremely glad to see a familiar face and such a beautiful face at that.
"I thought I had lost you after that battle! Tikal managed to drop Susan off at our place before she left to fight that dragon, but the resulting explosion flung me far away!" Amy said, managing to speak through tears.
"For five days me and Shadow have been searching for you, Amy, I almost had given up hope!" Sonic said, his weariness very evident on his blue fur.
"Well, I wonder what that black hedgehog is doing now...?" Amy pondered to herself as she suddenly felt Sonic kiss her on the cheek.
<Meanwhile, on the other side of the city>
"Damnt, can't you read?! NO PETS ALLOWED!!"
"Tck...I'm not a pet! I'm Shadow the Hedgehog! Let me book a couple of rooms for me and my friend!" Shadow shouted at the disgruntled hotel manager who was simply refusing to allow an animal into the building.
"No chance, blackie!" the manager said.
That comment to Shadow was a big mistake on the managers part, for the next thing he knew, he was face down on the ground with an angry hedgehog on his back.
"Say that again you prick!" Shadow shouted to the helpless manager.
"Shadow!!!"
Shadow turned around to find Sonic close by, he got off the managers back, who was then helped up by a couple of civilians.
"Sonic...?" Shadow ran towards Sonic and met with him shortly thereafter.
"Well, any luck, Shadow?" Sonic asked his friend.
"No...all the hotels I go to are the same: "No pets allowed!" Its making me sick!" Shadow said, gritting his teeth in frustration.
"Maybe I can help out...?"
Shadow turned to see Amy next to Sonic with a hotel card in her hand, she grinned at Shadow who simply face-faulted to the ground.
"All youad to do was ask nicely..." Sonic said to Shadow, who was still face down on the ground in embarrassment.
"I feel like such an asshole..." Shadow said to himself as Amy slid the card into n electronic slot, which opened the door to the hotel itself.
"This is going to take some getting used to..." Amy said to Sonic, who simply nodded in agreement as he helped his friend off the ground.
"Come on, Shadow, it isn't going to do you any good just laying down on the ground!" Sonic said to his friend, who was still very embarrased by his actions.
